I am scared to see so many people thinking living in relationship so seriously. When westerners are embracing our culture, why are these people embracing what has failed completely. In the awe of freedom one shouldn't harm themselves and the society.
I see your point. First off, when young people ask this kind of question, they don't know, it comes out of the sense of uncertainty and insecurity. First thing young people are going to do is to be serious about getting a good stuff and not tripping on something bad that would make them fall and then regret for all their life, or be set back and held back from getting what is most precious. This is not a nation-specific scourge, is it? It's good to get serious about choice and think it over, weigh pros and cons, always keeping in mind what is best for them in life. True love lasts forever.

Even today divorce is not easily accepted and it happens for very genuine reasons for the most part. We are culturally tuned to be with single partner for lifetime. We believe in one marriage because the focus is not just the couple unlike the western world. Marriages in India has very large context. Once a child is born, the focus is more on the child than on the self. Seeing their parents being married for so long. I was wondering why such serious thoughts about living in a relationship. In Mahabharath, the story of king Shantanu is classic example about the tragedy of self absorbed parent. Instead of getting the son married the king was concerned about getting married to Yojanagandhi.
I also believe that living relationship is exploiting our indian culture.... Bcoz people are getting bored with their partners very soon... And then finding new ones.....! @@whizmiss even if we reincarnate a large chunk of spirit stays at the spirit world so yes we have their blessings always. They always are there to guide us.. This is why we worship our ancestors and maybe some spirits don't reincarnate quickly they might wait for us to reach there so that we can plan our reincarnation together. I would like to believe my Mom will wait for me to join so that we can plan the next life together
