This is the original Back to the Future video that was the LJN Defender pilot episode. This video is now out-dated, since I've beaten this game multiple times now and I've grown so much as a performer, writer, editor, etc. since I made it. It's not a bad video at all, but you should check out the link above for a better, more recent LJN Defender episode on this game. Anyway, thanks for watching:)
Original Description: Back To The Future for the NES...a widely reviled movie license game, and what better way to kick off The LJN Defender. As a video game publisher, LJN has been dragged through the mud since the rise of the Angry Video Game Nerd, with due justification of course. However, for as crappy as most of their NES releases are, I enjoy them, faults and all. The AVGN videos featuring those games made me fond of them and played a huge role in rekindling my love affair with vintage gaming. There are some who say they have a few LJN games that they like, but nobody is doing what I'm setting out to accomplish with this series...sticking up for the lowest of the low LJN titles, starting with one of the most despised movie tie-ins based on a beloved 80s franchise. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be hiding behind this rock, waiting for the backlash to come. Thanks for watching!

The LJN Defender is a series where I take on the unenviable role of sticking up for the company that has been nicknamed the "Shit Rainbow" in recent years by the AVGN and other notable critics.
LJN obtained the majority of the licenses for movie and comic properties for Nintendo consoles, such as the NES, Super Nintendo, and Game Boy. The high expectations held for video games based on beloved Marvel comics and movies lead to feelings of disappointment in kids of the '80s and '90s when they finally played what Beam Software, Atlus, Rare, etc. had to offer. It's this disappointment that resulted in LJN receiving the reputation of producing crappy games to strike while the iron is hot.
This may be true, but just because a game has flaws, doesn't mean that it can't be fun. I grew up with these games just like many of you out there, and I enjoyed the time that I spend with them back then and to this day. That's why I decided to create The LJN Defender. In this series, I will be voicing the opinion of the minority, those that like playing "bad" video games every now and then.
Over the course of the series, I will eventually end up covering the entire LJN catalog. Which will I be able to redeem and which are beyond redemption? Tune in to the continuing adventures of The LJN Defender to find out!

Thanks for re-uploading. The original videos were taken down when Cygnus increasingly radicalized in a sort of struggle against the whole of society. Still these videos were very enjoyable and I was sad to see them disappear. And I do hope Cygnus/LJN Defender is doing well.
This was really kind of the tail end of an era for UA-cam when DIY-ers still could build a decent following without having TV-quality documentaries on their channels. I miss that. Feels like these videos were more genuine and authentic.
I also miss old school UA-cam. What happened with Cygnus though?
Yeah, I also am curious what happened. I miss seeing his diamond-cutting jaw line.
Bottom line Cygnus had personal issues and wiped the channel for reasons unknown. I'm doing my part to reupload the available videos possible on the archive I found.
I agree, he was a one-man show… everything had a homespun charm. No fancy studio, no staff or writers… all done in his bedroom, all done solo. He also mentioned in an old interview he was self-taught and was just really inspired by his old hero AVGN to do this as a way to express himself and overcome alot of self-esteem issues he had from being formerly obese. He’s a very fascinating and good guy, at least from that era. Very talented.

It hurts that years later no reviewers realize that the auditory vomit in the street scenes IS " Power of love" sped up.
I quickly learned as a kid in the late 80s and early 90s not to waste my time renting anything with the LJN logo.
I did one better, i waited till the 90's to be born to avoid LJN altogether.

Honestly, even though his last videos were in mid 2020, you could tell he was basically checked out by 2018. I think he just kept the channel going to make fans happy. He just didnt need to keep going anymore at that point.

i really enjoyed cygnus anything to do with his personal life or sexual orentation thats none of my busness i wasa fan of his channel even supporteed him on patrion cause of the enjoyment his videos brought me thankyou for reuploading his videos so that i can re watch them again maybe one day he may popup again with new content and new channel whenever that maybe they still have there fans regardless

Nobody knows for sure. Had several personal issues, dropped out of YT and deleted his online presence. Thats about it.

I never realised people who never played ljn games may hate them just because of james lol.
When I was a kid playing those games I didn't realise they sucked this hard.
I just thought they were hard like contra, castlevania etc.
But playing them as an adult I understand the nerd's hatred for those, the licences they use makes it a turd disgised as ice cream.
