    Tysm for this. I’ve been struggling with legalism in my own life, and it’s so freeing to hear that I’ve been wrong in my actions- appreciate it!

    I have a close family member like this. I’m not saying that to out them or act better than them. But they see no fault in what they do, but they are thinking everyone wants to be like them, their jealous of them, they are extremely judgmental. I’m a Christian, but it’s hard to respect other Christian’s that act this way. With pride brings shame and dishonor & that’s what is happening unfortunately

      Why don’t most of these types of Christians ever see the errors in their ways? Why do they skip or look over certain scriptures literally talking about their wrong ways? Why? If they know the Bible “so much” why do they pick and choose what to live by.

    You are so correct. I was raised in legalistic churches most of my life. It messes with your mind and it also causes you to play God. You judge everyone by your standards. So thankful God took me aways from that.

    True repentance, is letting go of self reliance for salvation, saying I’ve tryd it all God there is nothing I can bring to the table , I’m a beggar in the presence of a king wash me and make me clean, no reliance on self can save us , laying it at the saviors feet

      Wash me and make me clean yet there is still wickedness and impurity in my heart? Wash me and make me clean and pretend as I sin and the wickedness of my heart pours out that it’s clean ?
      Or wash me and cleanse me that I may sin no more ?

      No this message didn’t say that even if you sin you are still saved and you don’t have to walk in purity and perfection . The message he said was that making your own human rules and standards in place of Gods commandments is legalistic . But you need to keep Gods commandments. You can’t say you are right with God yet you don’t keep his commandments, and no as long i don’t habitually sin .

    Legalism is a problem, and so is antinomianism....which is rampant in the church. Pushing back on antinomianism is often called "legalism".

    What is difficult for the people who don't know what to believe like me is they say you can lose your salvation and quote verses that seem to say EXACTLY THAT and it makes me freak out and become "legalistic" because of fear, trying so hard all the time not to live in "continuing sin." The truth is they actually believe it too and they think they are trying to help other people who they think will just "sin because they can" meanwhile people like me who are freaked out are constantly living in fear, "is this a continuing sin?" Like being dependent on medication perscribed by a doc is that an idol? Whats the difference between that and meds not prescribed by a doc? What about speeding on highway? Or being really excited about things? Isn't that an idol? Or working on sabbath? Whats the line you cross with sin that makes it damnable? Its very confusing

      I've been a Christian most of my life and have been in pastoral ministry for 15 years. I've come across so many wonderful Christian people who exhibit the fruit of the Spirit, but I've also known so many others that fall into this legalistic mindset. I would encourage you not to let your experience with these types of people to color your view of Jesus or true Christianity. His way is better!

    Can you tell me if this is a form of legalism? So, I feel like I can't watch secular shows, play video games, watch secular videos, or draw the things I want to draw (the things I want to draw isn't particularly portraying anything against God or his laws, just not particularly about him or has him in it). I also kind of do this thing where I'll see someone doing something that they shouldn't and think "They are probably going to Heaven" but then I think "I can't do this because I'll go to hell". I hope this comment made any sense, but can you help me?

    • @fredarroyo7429
      @fredarroyo7429 11 місяців тому +1

      If it goes against your conscience then it is sin. Don’t do it. Where it becomes legalistic is when you impose things that aren’t cut out confirmed from scriptures . You don’t want to call anything unclean that God has not .

    The Church I grew up in and go to is very legalistic. I'm married to a wonderful man who also grew up in a very legalistic environment. The problem is, most people in the church know something is off but the problem is the leadership. I don't know how to change this issue in our church. Many would tell me to leave but I can't just make that decision for my family. I'm nervous to talk to my husband about it but for now I am just praying for my husband and our church that this issue will be addressed and that the holy spirit can dwell in our church. The leadership is very old fashioned and traditional, and anything that's new or "modern" right aways get labeled as misleading from the truth. Any advice?

    You ask me, the finger-wagging gossip-character assassination legalistic types are *at best* insecure about their own salvation; *at worst*, using scripture to bully the emotionally vulnerable and inexperienced.

  • @jc2636
    @jc2636 4 місяці тому

    I’m going to put this out there:
    Is it legalistic to assume that because a woman is renting a room in a house from a man is not allowed to be in any type of leadership position in a church due to the likelihood this persons actions ( freedom) may confuse a young believer based on being a “stumbling block “ by actively living in the “appearance of evil” ( this rental is strictly business albeit understandably,others could of course, wonder)( the second line of reasoning is that the teens in the church who are being discipled will see hypocrisy and think “ if it’s ok for this lady- she loves the Lord… then it’s got to be ok for me too etc)
    And secondly, is this living situation a direct or even indirect violation of scripture?
    And is this scripture verse being applied correctly in this sense?
    Question being that “appearance” is subjective. The very same logic used in this scenario can be applied to any single persons conclusions and can get out of control and actually cause more damage in the long run.

I wore a hat to church and now I'm being rebellious cause my dad doesn't approve really. Jesus hated legalism correct pastor? I told asked my mom why age believes in that stuff she thinks I'm being rediclious asking the Lord for the impossible and I told my mother that she doesn't really know who Jesus truly was. Pastor now I'm mom wants to talk to me because again she thinks I'm being rebellious. How should I go into this today. I've been judged for listening to metal. My parents think that you have to dress up for church or your not being respectful to God. Untrue. My old church made a big deal of wearing jeans in church. I think church dominations are legalistic and need to be desposed of.

    • @fredarroyo7429
      @fredarroyo7429 11 місяців тому +1

      You need to dress up for church because you need to be obedient to your parents.
      If your old church says you are going to hell for wearing Jean pants then that’s legalistic. But if they say it is not a salvation issue but they want to have everyone in the church not wear pants then it is no longer legalistic, but to obey the authority of the church you do it because it’s their policy.
