One thing I'd like to point out: The Ultimate 2C is not meant to be an improvement over the Ultimate. As its name implies, the Ultimate 2C is meant to be an improvement over the Ultimate C, the previous version of their budget alternative controller with the same limited device compatibility. The Ultimate C didn't even have a Bluetooth mode, nor macro buttons, nor hall effect sticks and triggers, and it also didn't use the Ultimate software.
One more point. Ultimate C has two versions: Ultimate C Bluetooth which is for Switch with bluetooth support and 6-axis motion control. The other model is Ultimate C 2.4G which is the one you mentioned. Visually the Bluetooth has the Nintendo button layout and the 2.4G the Xbox button layout. The more pro model 8-bitdo Ultimate Controller also has 2 versions, one with bluetooth/2.4G/Wired and another with only 2.4G/Wired. I imagine that in the future there will be an Ultimate 2C bluetooth version for Switch, although the big plus of 2C is its 2.4G connection. Cheers.
I think this gamepad is a huge step forward for 8bitDo. The most important thing is that it brought an increased Stick Resolution, which was always terrible in 8bitDo before the release of this model. I'm looking forward to testing it out.
Whaaaaatttt?!? The great John_Punch commenting on my video?!?!?!?? 🥲 Well, I’m excited to see what your take is. Personally, I find the curve way too aggressive but I have read that software support is coming to 2C. If we can address the curve, that could propel this controller to new heights. Man, you just made my week!!!
The naming scheme is confusing at this point. There's too many models of ultimate. I hope they sell the 2C metal ring sticks as parts, I would replace that in the my ultimate bluetooth (mine already deteriorated).
That'd be nice, I do think there are some aftermarket solutions but then it kind of becomes a game of "finding the right thing" and I can't be bothered.
you cut an electric to fit the space, im using this for over 18 years is was good. but the tap collects so much dust, or you can buy something called "joystick Elastic Guard Ring",
I've been an 8bitdo fan for a long time. But it blows my mind that they don't have one controller with all their best features. Hal effect triggers are wonderful, but its not on their more expensive controllers. This one if it had gyro and the old membrane d-pad would be an instant buy for me.
I thought they now had an Ultimate 2.4Ghz + BT that came with Hall-Effect. I could be wrong though, they've had a bunch of re-releases so it's been a bit hard to keep up with them if being honest.
@@GameTechTalk I think its just the sticks that are Hall effect. Ever since I got King Kro Pro 2, I don't think I could go back to non-Hall effect triggers. But they DO have hall effect triggers on the 2C. It is nice that they don't have the 2.4g and Bluetooth as separate 'ultimate' models now though. That was even more confusing. Hopefully their next top-tier line will really be one and done.
This is... interesting. I just watched another Review, and they gave the measured latency of the 2C as a LOT lower than the Xbox Controller with the official Dongle. It was even lower than the Xbox when using Bluetooth. The only weird measurement was when using it Wired, where the 8bitdo unit performed worse than running wireless.
@@garouthemonster9718 Correct. However, there are also two Online Databases that show the wireless (Dongle) latency of this Controller to be somewhere around 5-6ms which is pretty good.
I've been catching some heat, I think LTT's video made people seek out more reviews of it and while I find I speak pretty positively of this device overall, I'm not glorifying it either, people don't like my take it seems. The dislikes have been ramping up, kind of weird how it all happens. That's been new to me. With that said, the view count doubled over night too so. 🤷
@@GameTechTalk That sounds like social media in a nutshell...😁 Seriously though...the latency issue does deserve some clarification IMHO. Both LTT and the two dedicated latency test databases show a pretty low latency for the 8bitdo controller. Could you test that aspect again and give us some numbers?
Questions for the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless Version: Does it have vibration motors, and does the controller vibration work in Steam games, Epic Games, and Xbox Game Pass games? (Currently playing Wukong on Steam, and I use a DualSense controller. I must enable Steam input settings for it to work, but I get no vibrations or any kind of haptic feedback). Does the controller work natively in Steam, Epic Games, and the Xbox app on PC without enabling Steam Input settings or launching my Epic and Xbox games through Steam? (For games that support Xbox controllers, like Elden Ring). Thank you so much for taking the time to read my questions.
Yes it has vibration, yes it works natively on Windows in Steam. With that said, it doesn't work on a Steam Deck if that is the question. It's dependant to what mode you use but on the right one, it works on Steam just fine.
I just want you to know that I've been bouncing around a lot today after my OEM Xbox S/X controller died of drift. After doing a lot of research and shopping, I originally settled on the Black Myth Wukong edition of the 2C, but something just didn't sit right with me. I'd seen your vid earlier in the day but brushed it off. After emailing the company though, I've learned that the 2C has no further planned compatibility with the Ultimate Software. No vibration tweaking, no button mapping, no deadzone altering. Nada. I came back to this afterwards to see if the benefits of the controller make up for that and honestly, I don't think they do. Your video in particular was super helpful to have as a reference since nobody else has one like this up right now. I just wanted to personally say thanks for helping a poor gamer pinch his pennies and get something right for me.
Little story, my brother who’s also a creator on another platform said something to me a few months back. He said I should praise products regardless, until I grow to be a larger creator, gain an audience, and then be more transparent. I always said I wanted to make videos because it was about people first, about creating connections with other gamers out there. That thing you said at the end of your message? I’ve been there. I can praise a product when it deserves praise, but it is my duty to also call it like it is and offer perspective if I can. Thank you, through your experience and perspective, you reminded me why I go about it the way I do, and what defines what I do and how I do it. It’s people. That comment of yours is one I will re-read. Thank you very much for sharing this with me, it touches me deeply.
@@Denzilrulez I chose the Ultimate Wired Xbox model because it was on sale for $33 on Amazon. If you were wondering, it's great! The software is a really nice touch, since I play some twitch shooters I added a hair deadzone on the triggers that makes it harder to accidentally fire. The back buttons are really unobtrusive and easy to use while being hard to mis-press, which was something I was worried about. Overall a great pick given it currently costs under $5 more than their budget wireless 2C. Edit: I wanted to specify that I use it on my PC and every single software I've plugged it into has recognized it by name, from steam to the gamepad tester website. Just in case anyone wanted to know if the hardware itself was white label or not, and if they were also looking for a PC controller. Haven't noticed a bit of latency either!
@@GameTechTalk I'm very glad to hear my comment touched you, and I'm very appreciative of your kind response. You've earned a sub and a regular for your honesty and heart, and I hope to get to watch your channel boom. Keep on doing you, being real, and helping the people who find your videos.
As someone who is looking for a cheap but high quality controller for PC gaming specifically, I believe this is my best option. My PS controllers suffer from lack of compatibility with many games due to the different software theyre based on, and theyre expensive anyways. Ive never thought of buying a controller not officially licensed by Xobx or PS but here I am 😅
It seems you already have your solution on one end, I think this controller does indeed make a great "companion" to other ones, especially for more laid back games. Cheers!
I appreciated the part of the review where you talked about the differences between the Hall Effect sticks and the old style sticks. I already knew the difference from a mechanical standpoint; but, what I didn't know is that the nonmagnetic sticks are preferred for precision gaming. I assumed that Hall Effect was a 100% across the board improvement and the only reason manufacturers were still using old school sticks in some products was due to cheapness. TIL, I was wrong. But, it's a good type of wrong because now I can feel a sense of superiority when I use my old ALPS and Switch stick equipped handhelds/controllers. "Klef said that these are what the pro gamers prefer."
@@mattdavis9601 The one issue with hall-effect often comes from all the different algorithms they use to « clean » the sticks jitter. The problem is it causes « false » outcome when it comes to stick precision and what a player should expect. That B-roll when I was doing Aim Labs? Much much MUCH harder on the Ultimate 2C, especially compared to a « competitive quality stick » like the one found in the Vader 4 Pro and a handful of other controllers. Yeah ALPS still have some benefits, despite the inevitable fate that they will eventually suffer.
@@4tado Testing some of those very shortly! Until then, I think Vader 4 Pro's solution is robust but I've heard a lot of positives from TMR (though still HE, the rebranding might confuse some people).
Thanks for the insight! However ill take longevity over precision any day haha. As a casual gamer, this is probably the best deal u can get for budget controllers. comfy and efficient. much better than buying 1st party controllers every 3 months. and if id want id buy the higher budget 8bitdo controllers for PC. but i have trouble picking which ones the best due to their confusing names lol
Oh I think the Ultimate 2C is the successor to the Ultimate C series which is the bottom and cheapest controllers they have for like 15-25 bucks so these ones replace those for 20-30 with 2024 normal features such as hall effect sticks etc etc. The original C controllers dont have back buttons nor software support for customization so these ones add just some button near the triggers.. So these are meant to be the (new) cheapest models. The successor for the higher end models will come most probably very soon too. Me personally waiting for a new Pro 3 (in red color I wish) {': I always love your videos! Keep them coming
I am aware that it is, I still think it is important to address it to the people who won't. Maybe I'm alone on that island thinking there must be people that bought the Ultimate, not knowing the C exists (or HE Ultimate) looking at the 2C thinking: "Wooohhh, 1000hz, HE, let me get that upgrade for cheaper". I wanted to make sure I illustrated that difference rather than leave them thinking: "Wait, why didn't the guy on YT say it doesn't have a dock, doesn't have software, doesn't work on Switch, etc, etc..." Thanks for the kind words btw! :)
@@GameTechTalk Ooh yaah I completely agree! I wish they did bit better with the naming instead of calling Ultimate call it something else so people wouldnt confuse the budget or higher end models. Would you think this would be a good buy if it was gift for someone whom playz gamez casually nowadays compared to other budget controller like Gamesir Nova Lite? PS: Sorries for my bad English >//
@@tdangox135 Personally, I would recommend the Nova Lite over the 2C. As far as I am concerned, the 2C has two advantages over the Nova Lite, the 2 extra buttons and 1000hz. But here's the thing, the 1000hz is not stable, the Nova Lite is 500hz wired at 99% stability so they are about on-par, the sticks feel better on the Nova Lite, and I'm talking specifically about algorithm, not the stick manufacturer. The Nova Lite also supports Switch and PS mode for PC as well as D-input. Honestly, it almost shouldn't be a fair fight with how much better the Nova Lite is in comparison. The 2C advantages are not enough to give it a considerable edge over the Nova Lite, and it has many disadvantages in comparison.
Triggers has less range than DS4, plus there is some noticeable deadzone wich makes it even shorter. Didn't like them that much for racing games like F1, but it worked very well with some other arcade racing games. We can switch throttle and brakes for the right stick, but it will take some time to adapt for sure if you're okay for some extra practice. For $ 30,00 it is amazing! Build quality is nice and the sticks feels like butter. Thank you so much for the video! Very nice content!
Great content lad. Completely agree. I use my 8bitdo for retro gaming because three of their controllers are purpose built and work well for their intended category of gaming; the M30, the Neo Geo SNK Wireless and of course, the perennial SN30 +. I do have an ultimate but I really only use it for cloud gaming and I use it in wired mode. Thanks again young lad.
Thanks Hunter! I love what 8BitDo does, and most people that loved the Ultimate will love this one too. My belief is that it is easier to feel good about a purchase when knowing what to expect and in that regard, I hope I help a couple know what the 2C is about. It's a few steps forward, and a few steps back. 😊
@@GameTechTalk Anyone new to the scene or wants to know about functional performance metrics, you nailed it lad. I just particularly liked the polling data you presented. Well done man.
i believe the ultimate with the dock also has hall effect sticks. it's only the 2.4ghz version that has regular sticks, the bluetooth one has hall effect
I’ve been wanting to buy a controller for my switch. I’m stuck between buying an 8BitDo controller or buying a used pro controller and reshellimg and swapping everything.
I mean, I am way too much in love with HD rumble to not go Pro controller (or something that has it) but that's just me. If you go 8BitDo, please grab that Wukong one? It's so sexy! T-T
The 2c is insane, had it for about a month played mainly racing games like ams2 also just started playing fortnite again and managed to get to unreal in ranked with this controller, although I do have to exit out of steam completely because of steam input... it cost me 20pounds, you cant compete with that
Yeah, I gotta admit, I was already positive about it but I enjoyed it way more after updating the firmware. The sticks were unreliable to me but since getting on 1.06, it completely fixed the stick curve. I actually like it a lot now. Cheers!
Was looking for a review on this one; thanks for posting it. I have ordered the wired version, taking a flier on it for $20, and will probably keep it either way. 8 Bit Do lately has become very hit or miss and it's just a case by case basis. I still get great results from my eight year old 8 bit do pro controller however when I picked up a newer pro 2 the analog controls were noticeably much less smooth and precise, regardless of how I tweaked them with the software or just out of the box, and I sent it right back. The SN30 wired I got that one too and okay build quality but the ballyhooed d-pad is not all that great. The d-pads on these analog sticks are usually an afterthought and to really play a fighting game it's best to invest in an M30 (8 bit do's best controller in my opinion) or a Retrobit Saturn replica pad. So I am interested that they made a d-pad adjustment on the 2C just to see how it works with 2D platformers and shoot em ups. This model seems to be a good comparison to something like the Easy SMX 9100 pro, which is a pretty solid all-around wired controller at the same 20 dollar price point. You may possibly like the ergonomics better on that one.
Happy to assist! I do think, considering the quality gap between the Ultimate (non-C) and Ultimate C lines of products being this substantial, that the wired version is probably a better investment than the 2.4ghz/BT one, especially if having any intentions of holding up for an updated Ultimate. Thanks for mentioning that EasySMX model, I jotted it down, maybe something to look at for a future review or tierlist, cheers!
@@GameTechTalk Well it came in today and I put it against a handful of personal benchmarks like Daytona USA (Model 2), Ridge Racer 64, Mario Golf, action platformers for NES and SNES, Super Street Fighter 2. I can't speak to how accurate the d-pad is from advanced metric testing but it actually feels very comfortable and I had no issues with the 2D platformers and banged out moves on the 2D fighting games with only an intermittent miss, which can happen to me on any controller. Daytona was slightly twitchy but better than some other controllers that I have used for it and RR 64 fared above-average when straightening out from drifts, much better than the result that I had with the 8 bit do pro 2 controller, where I was bouncing off walls like a pinball. I'd say that the Gamesir X7 SE has the smoothest, most precise analog that I've tried out but unfortunately while an Xbox sponsored controller it is not X-input and some of the button configs don't match up well for my needs. Compared to the aforementioned Easy SMX 9100 Pro I'd say they are both solid buys (wired versions) for a mere twenty dollars. The Easy SMX is a little more comfortable to grip and also has an eight way d-pad if preferred. The 2C I think would make a good SNES controller and also a strong option for PSP.
As far as I understand this one is meant to be a successor to the ultimate c and not the more expensive ultimate. As such it would be interesting if you compare it to the ultimate c.
I considered buying this model as my first controller ever, but I'm not sure anymore. Which model do you think would be good for games like Tomb Raider (on Steam)?
If you want to start with something extremely great value and don't mind buying on AliExpress, I have a review that is coming out today or tomorrow at the latest of a product that I stumbled on by complete mistake. Stay tuned for that video, it might tickle your fancy!
Linus tech tips actually did a video on this and it had the lower input latency than all the other controllers they tested as well. And an Xbox and a ds5 were include in this comparison
John Punch tested it, which I would be inclined to take at face value and he indeed found record latency performance. However, the issue I have, I did not elaborate well enough during the video, that's the unfortunate side-effect of no being in contact with the brand, but also going off the cuff. With that said, some places in the world had early access to this controller, Canada being one of them apparently and my controller clearly shipped with an older firmware. Honestly, they should've not shipped with older firmware as far as I am concerned. I will have to make a follow-up video in due time about this controller because my opinion changed from one match to the next and the only thing that was between one and the other was me updating the firmware, it completely transformed my opinion of it as it completely improved it's behavior.
I have 8bitdo ultimate bt and i noticed a little joystick woble before it registered probably cheap plastic but when it starts registering is really accurate But idk if unlimited 2c minimize the wobble and i hope joystick a little bit better
It's not impossible that the joysticks would be better on these controllers, seeing as their have changed the sticks. Unfortunately, I don't have enough hours clocked on mine to tell you if it will be the case but I find that generally speaking, all the 8BitDo controllers I've owned have stood the test of time, they've been a staple in my gaming for over half a decade, I would buy them even before they could be purchased on Amazon. If anything, maybe you had a lemon? Sorry to hear that you've been having issues with yours.
@@GameTechTalk it doesn't bother that much or at all unless it's fps game Because it's probably very minor but for me as it's my first controller I didn't understand how people can play with higher dead zone because I'm not use to
That's a shame that they went away from the SNES feeling d-pad and replaced it with a tactile. As long as they don't do that to the Pro2s though because those are some of my favorite controllers.
@@DonaldWyman I certainly hope not. I can understand them trying and maybe better that they do on a cost-efficient solution but that is the most « out of touch » move for 8BitDo I’ve ever seen them do. Why take away the thing that most people praise them for? Let’s hope they’ll revert that change for whenever they bring something new out.
I love the purple that this controller comes in, it's a shame that it doesn't have gyro because I really don't like the colours that the regular Ultimate has, lol
I wanted the purple but it wasn't available, with that said, I came very close to returning this one to get the Black Myth Wukong edition but I figured I was going to stick with the one I reviewed and so I have.
I just want a very basic controller for my PC and not have to worry about stick drift. Only playing JRPGs and some other chill non-competetive games with it. So my choice is the wired version of the Ultimate 2C for only $20 which is such a steal for my usecase.
Oh definitely, both great options, and for the difference of price, I think wireless would be the way to go to be honest, and you can still use it wired when you feel like it anyway.
Thanks for the review. - Newer docked Ultimates have 1000 hz on wired via update? - "Ultimate C" line was it's own sphere? 2C wireless price is within $5 to the ultimate 2.4ghz docked. Black Myth Wukong edition is nice.
My pleasure! Not to my knowledge for 1000hz wired but if that is the case? Wow! I haven't heard nor read anything about that and I doubt that would be the case, with that said, that doesn't mean the controller cannot be overclocked but thats a thing of its own. Ultimate C is indeed a different line of product than Ultimate, however, as I never reviewed nor the Ultimate or Ultimate C (but own them), I thought important to address in case someone makes the jump from Ultimate to Ultimate 2C expecting just more of the same, when it isn't quite the case. I do 110% agree on the Black Myth Wukong and to be honest, I'm heavily tempted to order one! 😅
@GameTechTalk Good point on the controller lineup. I found the polling rate by chance as well... Ultimate 2.4Ghz wireless models gets 1000hz theoretical when connected by wire. Available via update. 8bitdo support or Akness would confirm with an email Testing with Gamepadla was 95%-99.88% stability. Thanks for all the uploads.
When companies send over any products for that matter, is it the norm to send the product back after a certain time, or is it more normal to keep the product? How often would you say, percentage wise, you keep a product after a review? Asking out of curiosity
the white one that you have might have hall effect sticks since it has the nintendo lay out. The original two ultimate models were 2.4ghz and the bluetooth with also choice of 2.4ghz connection and switch conneciton. The first was with alps and the other with hall effect
@@ariskoin9612 See for yourself: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004698780018.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.2c011802spqzcn#nav-review It's not hall-effect.
I would be interested to see some of these changes implemented into an Ultimate bluetooth 2 (tactile dpad/bumpers & maybe buttons as well, friction rings) that's it though, i don't think extra triggers are more practical than back buttons but what if they give us both like the razer chroma 2? 🤔
I mean I would think that it'll come, that or they are preparing an even bigger upgrade for the Ultimate 2 but one thing for sure, that D-pad better stay on the 2C 😅. I get preferring tactile or mechanical or microswitch over membrane but trust that not all tactile buttons are made equal and these ones are just not cutting it. As for both, I wouldn't mind. In fact, what I'd like to see personally is an Ultimate Pro with hair trigger, 4 extra paddles, 1000hz and HE as well as the wider device compatibility that the Ultimate has.
The 2C triggers and bumpers are way better than the Ult. Ult bumpers feel way too cheap for the price. I still prefer the pro 2 but nonetheless most of 8bitdo products are fantastic. That Wukong 2C color is sick!!!!
I want the Wukong so bad, really tempted to order one tbh! As for the triggers, on clarity yes, on sound and actuation, I prefer Ultimate. For bumpers, I'm with you 100%. I WAN THE WUKONG MODEL!!!!
This isn't the only 8bitdo Ultimate controller that has 1000Hz polling rate, the 2.4G version can also 1000Hz as well after one of the firmware updates adjusted the polling rates. However, the 2C has 1000Hz for BOTH wired and 2.4G modes, the Ultimate 2.4G can only do 1000Hz wired whereas 2.4G mode goes up to 166Hz.
Because it is not that obvious to everyone, but I sure am glad that it is obvious to you. Don't take my word for it, read comments on this video, read comments on other videos, people are not a fan of their naming scheme. With that said, the 2C on it's own is also a controller with drastic changes for the history of the brand overall (like that D-pad).
i dont get it how is it not optimal for games where i want a good latency controller? your test says it has 1,2ms wired and 1,6ms wireless latency it dont get much better than this atleast not near this price range i wanted a good latency controller for nba 2k25 and i havent seen one review that reaches this numbers
The latency you see is "synthetic", it's based off of an average polling rate and while polling rate can indeed be an indicator of performance, it is not a guarantee. So my assessment is a mix of "feel and data". Besides that, I re-listened to the performance segment of my video and indeed, I can see how it can be confusing. What I was saying is historically, 8BitDo are not "performance-driven" controllers, as in they have a bit more input lag than average, they don't have amazing stick resolution or algorithm, but they make up for that with style, software and overall positive experience. >> With that said, as of late, they have improved a lot on that.
i wonder if the software issue has been sorted, its been a short time since then but then one can hope. ngl i felt pretty hyped up about the R4/L4 buttons as i just cannot use backpedals, so this placement is much easier for me, plus, being a monster hunter player, i can see some cool applications for these "all in one" buttons, but judging from this, i'm kinda torn here. i'd like a second opinion on this for the people that have this controller, i'm using a xbox series x controller wired for comparison, and i have no complaints whatsoever, its solid as hell, no notes. However, the R4 and L4 buttons on the ultimate 2c are really enticing, that and the 2.4g dongle stuff, that'd be cool. i like wireless and i kinda miss it on pc (cant do bluetooth). would that be an upgrade or downgrade from an xbox series x controller?
It wouldn’t be a downgrade except maybe for ergonomics but that is very subjective. It does have a different shape than Series controllers in my personal opinion. The obvious downgrade would be in sticks but that shouldn’t matter much for a game like Monster Hunter.
Loving my 8bitdo Ultimate for switch, since my licenced pro controller began to drift, so I didn't want to order the same controller I know it has issues. I'm thinking getting a new one for PC with the Xbox button prompts, I just notices there is a 2C version, I don't know if order the Ultimate Genshin Impact version or the new Ultimate 2C Wukong version.
honestly the only thing i hate about the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C is I wish the bumpers where in a position where my index fingers rest on without moving them up a little
@@GameTechTalk yes but no, if they kept the width from the ultimate and ultimate c while making it longer and rounded as they did for the 2c it would be better IMO. tho I do understand the concession due to the l4 and r4 buttons. honestly to me I don't care for paddles or extra buttons like that. or even just make l4 and r4 buttons area apart of the shoulder buttons. either way the ultimate 3c or whatever their next controller is I hope it is the best of all their best ideas.
So, my opinion: I was able to order the Ultimate C for 24€ with free shipping. I was also able to order the Machenike G5 Pro Elite (what a name xD ) for 27€ with free shipping. The Machenike has a 500hz poling rate with the dongle, although I wouldn't say it's very stable... So same story... I would argue that maybe you must plug it directly on your motherboard, not have many other 2.4Ghz devices around??? Idk... The fact of the matter is that it's supposed to be a multiplatform controller with gyro and stuff. Dolphin emulator. The gyro doesn't work as it should. Maybe it works on the switch flawlessly, but I don't own a switch, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It is a nice controller... It feels nice, the mechanical D-Pad is... Confusing to put it politely... Not for D-Pad focused games IMO, but many might be able to get used to it just fine? I wouldn't bet on it, but anyways... What about the Ultimate 2C. I haven't received it yet 🙃 As long as it has a light feel on the buttons, good sticks and trigger, then I'll be quite happy with it. 1000hz is a great bonus, even if it performs like 700hz or something... In my mind the 2C outperforms the 5G Pro Elite which is supposed to be very good. "What about Dolphin Emulator?" you might say... I would say that the G5 doesn't really work either :3 But I would mainly say this: The Switch controller isn't a nice controller. It's very basic and quite cheap feeling. There are many other third party controllers in the market to match that experience... You can get sub 20€ controllers that perform as well as the switch one. If you just emulate like me and maybe own a PS4 controller, that's perfect, it works flawlessly with the Dolphin emulator... But if you want something for the switch. Just get the 8bitdo Ultimate. You can get it for 22€ if you search at the right places (AliExpress). It's also perfect for the Switch and many others. But IMO the 2C is better for anything else. I will wait for my Ultimate 2C. I am interested in testing the latency myself. Maybe in a controlled environment to see if the stability will improve 🤔
I have never held a Machenike controller so I can't speak on them but if you like the ergonomics of the C, I would imagine that you'll fall in love with the 2C. Also, I might have to make an updated video because I was getting concerns with why my experience was so different (or at least it seemed to be) and I understand why. Yesterday, I did far too many Aimlabs rounds with the 2C and I literally doubled my score after doing a firmware update. The sticks were busted on the version I had but the firmware update gave me a completely different experience. I might do a follow-up video at some point.
@@GameTechTalkSo, I have received mine and did some latency tests: The controller was getting an avg polling rate of 920hz, min latency 1ms, max latency 3ms, stability 92%. Average latency 1.09ms. To me this is a true 1000hz controller with a not so perfect stability (seems to be hitting 3ms 2% of the time and 2hz 4% of the time...) HOWEVER, after that I went ahead and did a firmware update on the controller... This dropped the latency and polling rate performance dramatically and was now getting similar performance to yours... 740hz avg polling rate. 74% stability. 1ms min, 2ms max... It is now a 1000hz controller that spends 25% of its time at 500hz... I didn't like that... I have to admit... However as you mentioned, some other things got fixed with the firmware updates, so I'm a bit conflicted... Compared to the Machenike, the Ultimate 2C is a better quality controller. The sticks feel better, the triggers feel better, the D-Pad feels way better. The AXYB, eh, can't say they feel better, cause the Machenike has mechanical switches. They feel just as good let's say but in a different way. The Ultimate 2C is a solid controller, very precisely manufactured... the Machenike feels a bit cheap in comparison and it is the pricier controller rarely selling for under 35€ (whereas you can get the Ultimate 2C (wireless) for 24€ as I did...). What I don't love: The joysticks have a somewhat small movement range. The triggers have quite the small travel too. Although the technology for fine control is there, the implementation leaves something to be desired. It's ok, but could certainly be better. Again though. 24€ for something of this performance and quality, I couldn't possibly complain ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ For me, this competes with the dualsense and the xbox controller just fine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It does not. For the controller to work on consoles, you'll need an adapter. Maybe we'll get Switch down the road? Usually, 8BitDo controllers do work on Switch, this one is the exception so we'll see as time goes by.
Just to put it out there, the 2C doesn't work on Xbox by default. As to if it is better than Xbox controllers... Probably a lot of people would say yes, I personally do not believe so. Then again, I'm not trying to say it's not good but this is a good 30USD controller, the Xbox ones are not on the same scale in terms of quality. With that said, the 2C has the benefit of having hall-effect sticks so far less risks of drift but to me, that's where the benefits would end over the Xbox one. Effectively, the 125hz of the Xbox controller still gives me a superior experience than the 1000hz 8BitDo 2C but I will go ahead and say that ever since they made the firmware update, it's been drastically improved so if somehow they keep improving the firmware, I might just change opinions over time.
@@GameTechTalk wow...thanks for replying!!! I really appreciate the detailed review and feedback. Your video feels genuine and I appreciate that! Keep it up man! 🙌🏻 I will buy this for a friend who like me really is into Black Myth Wukong but has an old generic remote. So should be a step up
I just tested this controller with xinput test on my pc and I got less than one MS latency at polling rate of about 800. Am I doing something wrong? Such low latency seems absurd. It was wireless, btw. Average of just under 1ms.
The 2C have turned out to have phenomenal latency. I will be making a follow-up video in due time because when making this video, I was on older firmware, the controller ships with much better firmware now, which I have upgrade myself too and indeed, the difference is not even comparable. With that said, my inputs were specifically on the sticks, not the entire controller's latency but nonetheless, I don't think your numbers are skewed, everyone is raving about this controller right now.
Hello, I’ve been looking around for ages and have stumbled upon this controller as well as a few flydigi’s etc and with price being a non factor what would be your current go to controller for pc gaming? I was currently using a standard Xbox controller with the official Xbox dongle but wanted to get something new when I noticed it’s been a couple years and it feels sort of sluggish in games like black myth wukong ect which I would like to start playing more games that are similar. Thank you in advance.
@@Sl0th150 If price is a non factor than the Flydigi Vader 4 Pro is probably the best you can get right now. At about 100 USD it's more on the expensive side but it has everything you could want, 4 back buttons, hall effect sticks with adjustable tension, physical trigger stops, mechanical d pads and face buttons, 2 axis gyro, great in depth software customization. I don't have it myself but there are a lot of reviews for the thing on youtube, reddit etc. You can check those out and make a decision for em.
I would tend to say the same as @alephkasai9384 . If money is no object as you stated, the Vader 4 Pro is S-tier, so is the Apex 4 but it has some downsides versus the Vader 4 Pro, and some upsides as well. I would say the same about the Rainbow 2 Pro but it is overall less appealing the two just named, however, it has some pretty PRETTY substantial strengths in very specific areas. To you intend to play FPSes at all with your controller? Or it's mainly 3rd person action games?
@@GameTechTalk mainly just 3rd party action games, maybe some fighting games, and games like cyberpunk. thank you for the feedback! I greatly appreciate it.
@@Sl0th150 Ok so Rainbow 2 Pro is out of the question because it really is a champ at aiming. Arguably, the Vader 4 Pro and Apex 4 would be a toss up. I have a review on both controllers if you want but to give you the break down. Vader 4 Pro has the better sticks, however I don't think it'll be much of a problem for you. Vader 4 Pro has 6 mappable keys, which that on it's own is awesome but you do have to rely on the software to make adjustments. Whereas Apex 4 has triggers that can be customized to do similar to what the PS5 triggers do (vibrate, shake, have a kick back, etc) but also, the Apex 4 is a lot friendly to customize on the fly because of the screen. It also can work with a pretty comprehensive app, you just won't need as much. Two great options, if you don't use extra buttons and like immersiveness above all, I'd say go Apex 4. If you worry more about better sticks for aiming specifically, and would rather have 6 mapping buttons rather than 4, go Vader 4 Pro. Cheers! :)
It doesn't. I was going to make a comparison using food but it was too harsh to the 2C. It's a fine balance trying to say that the 2C is decent but when putting it head to head with the Dualsense, it's hard not to sound as if I'm bashing the 2C. They are leagues apart.
Wow, I bought it without seeing this video and I think I'm gonna return it. Between the Easy SMX 05 and the gamesir nova lite, which one would you choose?
I declined the review of the 05, I might be doing a "X line video" where I go over the 05, 10, 15 and 20 but that has not yet been confirmed with EasySMX. All that to say, I can't speak on the 05 but for the Nova Lite, I'd go for that one over the 2C, without even batting an eyelid.
Is there a reason not to pick this one up for the Vader 4 Pro? Considering the C2 is half the price. I'm just looking for low latency wireless hall effect controller to play on pc
There are a multitude of reasons to pick the Vader 4 Pro over this. This is a cost-efficient solution, versus Vader 4 Pro going for a more premium approach, and sets of features. The 2C still remains a decent option, but one I would think is better geared towards leisure gaming, where it is about having fun and a good time, not so much about being competitive.
The C is also a trickled down Ultimate but the feature set is different, no hall-effect, Switch support, membrane d-pad, sums up some of the things off the top of my head.
I do have numbers. Not to say feeling doesn't play a part, it does. I've been testing controllers well before I knew how to have numbers, well before UA-cam but now that I do, I have data to back these up, for my own self primarily but also to have that reflect in my videos. I know all too well that a bad day could reflect on conducted tests and I can't allow that to happen if I am to be taken seriously. I appreciate you questioning the validity of my opinions, it must mean I am doing something good. Cheers!
I have a question - is this controller going to work well on PC? I hear it has bluetooth for android, but will it work on a computer too? Asking because from what I understand (I am new to these controllers) its dongle occupies 1 USB slot so if I have 4 set up, it will take up 4 USB slots from the machine. But if I use bluetooth it will work with 4 controllers without issue in theory?
That would indeed be correct. However, the bluetooth mode is not necessarily your "common protocol", so it is not impossible that you run into compatibility issues. With that said, as long as the operating system accepts it (windows does, linux doesn't seem to), you should be fine if playing on Steam, can't promise outside of it though.
@@GameTechTalk I see. Final question - do those USB hubs that allow for multiple USB devices connected to one port work here? Lets say with 4 controllers on a good USB4 port?
@@CharcharoExplorer Usually they would without problem. Controllers don't draw that much power so most hubs would be more than capable of handling data and whatever power is required to run 4 controllers. With that though, you may want to not cheap out on the hub because they could potentially cause added latency. Cheers!
Your ultimate bluetooth have hall effect stick bro, some of them use gulikit stick, some use k silver. The 2c bumper is great but the stick dont feel as good as UB ( it's hall but maybe cheap 1 ) but the price is verry cheap.
@@hiepbenh88 I agree. Also, the 2C have some very aggressive correcting algorithm on them, the Ultimate HE is not flawless by any measure but this cost efficient solution is definitely « cost efficient ». Nothing wrong there but I do wish there was an Ultimate with 1000hz, I would have drastically recommended that instead. If I have half a brain, I would think 8BitDo is banking on selling the 2C and have people double dip whenever a proper Ultimate 1000hz gets released. Time will tell! Thanks for engaging btw!
Could you recommend a controller to use for the xbox app on a samsung tv(mine in particular is a qn90b) *and* for casual use on my pc? Or should i just by 2 different controllers?
You should have a multitude of controllers that will be able to do both efficiently. However, the modes on the 2C can be quite limiting in comparison. Especially as it doesn’t have a proper XInput Bluetooth mode which is what I think your TV will require for the Xbox App. The EasySMX X10 could be a great option and value for a mix of neat features and price-sensible option. Same for the Nova Lite.
@GameTechTalk thanks for the rec! I just went ahead and ordered the easysmx x10. Just found your channel yesterday, really like your style man. Keep up the good work! Sub'd.
This is my first time with a controller that is not an xbox controller. How is this 8bitdo compared to the xbox series x controller? Especially in terms of aiming
The 2C is being praised beyond compare right now, rightfully so on *some* aspects. I can't use this controller if aiming is something I am trying to do efficiently. Series controllers are far surpassed on many aspects but if we're talking aiming? It greatly surpasses the 2C from where I stand.
Well, actually It was just curiosity because for shooter i always use keyboard and mouse. With controller I tend to play single player games like souls, rpgs and action games so I think this controller will perform really well. Thank you so much for your response.
What do you think about not having software to correct the zero zone and other stuff ?? but having a controller wit hall effect ?? Just bought one but checking to see if I should buy something else. I am a very very light game lol Thanks
Having software greatly expends the viability of a controller, as you are able to make it into something that works best with your playstyle. With that said, it also becomes less important if you mainly play more laidback games. For example, this controller would be perfect for say Stardew Valley. But would it be perfect for Call of Duty? Definitely not. All is relative in that sense.
That's fair. I think I reviewed this controller not taking into count how affordable that it really is in the scheme of things. I'll do better next time, thanks for providing feedback the way you have, it's appreciated.
For sure they will, I think personally that it is best to sit a little while until those models are upgraded but if you need one today, and aren't much of an FPS player, it's still a solid solution.
Would you say that the 2C is good for Rocket League? About the naming scheme, I think the Ultimate 2C is the successor of the Ultimate C, not the 8bitdo Ultimate controller
It is indeed the successor to the C but I still think the naming scheme is misleading. Ultimate C vs Ultimate, one says more, traditionally, it's because it's more, even if it's just a letter C. But maybe I need to put my "corporate" mind aside and just focus on the product itself. As for Rocket League, I wouldn't say so if you are a highly competitive player, the sticks are not precise enough. Best to stick with Xbox or PS controllers, or go Vader 4 Pro or Apex 4, GameSir Kaleid, controllers that have superior stick resolution.
@@GameTechTalk Tysm for your reply! I will be looking into those other controllers. Such a shame cuz 8bitdo just released a Black Myth: Wukong collab for the 2C and it looks great
I have such a love hate relationship with 8bitdo... every single controller is ALMOST perfect its so frustrating how every one needs to have flaws. Why tf would they even include a bluetooth mode that ONLY supports android when dinput and xinput both work perfectly with android AND pc
So you can utilize bluetooth in some scenarios but you'll basically have to rely on a wrapper which sucks. Something like Steam Input should work, possibly Vigem too, haven't tested. But yeah... it's a weird decision, one I'm starting to see with other manufacturers too to be honest, a part of me wonders if they are cracking up on spoofing behind closed doors, sending C&D types of thing. But 8BitDo is high profile by now and I think they've reached a success level where it bites them in the ass. Kinda sketchy to spoof Microsoft when you have licensed products with them, etc.
@GameTechTalk so the bluetooth mode works through steaminput now? Russ from Retro Game Corps posted his review yesterday and at that time it was not working on the steam deck. That's awesome if valve made it work that quickly.
@@johnsducks9816 Ahhh, I tested through Windows mind you, but also, maybe it was the specific titles? But for me through bluetooth on Windows, the controller does come up as the generic "16 button gamepad with hat switch" name. That can be configured on Steam Input. Actually, let me go test right now on Steam Deck. Could be that Linux itself does not have basic drivers to recognize the controller whereas Windows would. I'll report back in 5-10mins. Edit: It definitely does not work on Steam Deck on my end. It connects but Neptune does not see it, implying that no drivers exist in Linux itself. But on Windows, it definitely does, you just have to map it in Steam Input, as it is a wrapper, as long as you have generic windows drivers, the rest can be "addressed". The one thing I wasn't able to do is to map the capture button but that's most likely because the generic driver is d-input based. That button did not exist in D-input.
arch support? I already bought 3 of these and plan to use them until they break. but does anyone know if these works on arch? I should have thought of that before pre ordering them.
I'm pretty sure Russ from RGC tested Arch (and maybe other distros too), I tested on the Steam Deck off camera and wasn't successful. With that said, I'm pretty sure the mode is on D-Input, would there be drivers to bring support on Arch? If so, I think you might be in luck. It seems that the controller itself simply does not get recognized and therefore, Steam Input doesn't even know that it's there.
You raise a fair point, I could've included the C in that review but I definitely think the Ultimate had to be part of it. Part of my job is not assuming that people know what I know, and while I think there is zero reason to get the C with the 2C in existence, I do think there are reasons to get the Ultimate. But I could've done a better job including every option to illustrate my point, thank you.
Its not meant to be an improvement - you're misunderstanding their naming conventions. This is the current trend to name a product the same with an additional identifier at the end. Think Switch (lite, OLED), Pixel (pro,a), Galaxy (z,s,a,m). It's the ultimate series, just a different model. Think of it as an Ultimate "lite".
I get it. I just think it could be more evident for the people that do not try to keep track of their naming convention. A Switch "Lite" does all the explaining that is needed by the approach that it adopts. Even Series S and Series X show a "progression" but they also released simultaneously. I just try to position myself from the angle of someone that doesn't know and let that person be aware so that they can manage their expectations, especially when nearly 2 years distance both products. Just as well, I understand the perspective of someone that knows, such as you. It inspires a facepalm and a: "What the heck is this guy on about?" I get it, I'll take the heat if it means helping the ones that I have.
@@GameTechTalk FWIW I don't disagree, but it's popular nomenclature now. Insta360 is a perfect example as they just launched the Link 2 and 2c (cheaper model). There are loads of examples - Pixel 7 and 7a, etc. It might not make logical sense, but it (at least as far as electronics go) isn't going anywhere.
Can you try this on Chiaki remoteplaying ps4 or ps5 on Androod? My 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth is having some issues like the Dpad is not working and some buttons like l2 and r2. Thanks.
I don't have the controller with me right now, though it should come back to me shortly. Unfortunately, I am unable to test what you were asking, however, I have a good idea of the issue you are running into. Though the mode picks up as Switch (not sure why) from memory, the Bluetooth mode is actually an HID mode, which in other words is D-Input, an older, pretty much deprecated, protocol for controllers. Some games will work with that no problems, some won't, especially more recent apps that probably didn't think to consider users using the HID mode. I can't be 100% but I'd put my money on the issue that you're having being what I just described. With that said, I was able to test the app with another (non-8BitDo) controller and it worked without issues. Cheers!
@@GameTechTalk what version of android do you have? Cuz i'm on 14 and even a Ds4 get the same problem. And what controller works with the chiaki app fot you? I'm thinking og buying a 8bitdo pro 2 with hall effects but i dont know if it can work on chiaki. Many thanks.
@@culbertmarquez3190 I tested on my Redmagic 8 Pro with an EasySMX M05. I then tested with the Abxylute S9 and that also works fine, did an Astro Bot stage using that setup, with that said, Chiaki doesn't work too well for me, laggy, artifacts. Would much rather stick to the official app, or PS Play, or Repl4y but all my buttons work. I don't get rumble, also, you're in luck, I have HID modes on both my controllers, I tested them both and they worked fine. Seems like the problem you're having might be of a different nature after all.
@@GameTechTalk if it works fine for you maybe it's a Samsung Phone thing problem. Like To enable the sound when using chiaki on my phone i have to enable live caption and then you turned it off after opening the app, it's crazy hard to find the solutions on this thing lol.
@@culbertmarquez3190 On PSPlay in the settings, they have something about some Android devices having controls mismatched. Maybe that's what you have? However, I don't know if that can be fixed without rooting a device. With that said, PSPlay let's you "fix" it through their software (but it won't fix it for the OS itself). So there's that if ever.
Vastly. The software is only to do the update but the update GREATLY improved the sticks. Night and day kind of thing. I can openly say that if I had reviewed the controller later (when said firmware was available for me to patch it), I would've had different more positive things to say about this controller, despite the review not being negative at all.
you cant play metroidvania games using this Dpad, the reason is obvious, they cant kill the ultimate Bluetooth market with controller costs the half. now the ultimate Bluetooth is going to look more valuable.
@@kzxkzxkzx Unplayable is a bit over the top I’d say, I’m just trying to tell people it’s not a « does it all » controller, not greatly at least but for laidback leisure type gaming? I think it’s great!

@@Kausarrrrrr Nothing to apologize for! I don’t know if that video will be in time but my biggest gripe with the controller was the sticks, they weren’t great and I thought the cause was latency, but since the update, the sticks are a lot better. There is still better but considering the price, this is probably the new champ in the cost-efficient options out there!
Thank you. I was almost going to buy it because Linus gave it a positive rating. Then i was having 2nd thoughts because the choices in the market appear to be much more nuanced. So i found your review and now i think i'm going to pass on the ultimate 2c. Would rather buy the ultimate. But imma check your channel more for other potential better controllers.
If you don't care for FPS games, the 2C is a great value all around and potentially can kill the "looming cloud of worry" that comes from having non hall-effect sticks. If you want something that is just more feature-rich, the Ultimate models are not that much more and they have a lot more to offer. It all comes down to what works best for you. Also, if you have questions about other products, don't hesitate, I'm happy to assist as best I can. Cheers! :)
@@GameTechTalk Oh, thank you for the offer. Nice! Hmm.. I main Rocket League. I think i have a heavy hand (finger?Thumb?) because the face buttons feel mushy after 2-3 months. Even back buttons. Sometimes they just fall off and break. So i go through controllers at an average rate of 3 per 6 months. The biggest dud i had was an xbox elite. That thing didn't even last 2 months (mushy buttons after just a month of RL, along with reliability issues)! I feel like its like this because the avg APM for an avg RL player is around the 350s. So i just gave up with controllers altogether and play purely on KB in RL. Not KBM, just KB. Very reliable, longevity wise! Only issue is that there are some mechanics that are literally impossible to do with KB. I'm thinking of buying a controller for other, non-competitive single player games (JRPGs, adventure, the likes). But controllers nowadays seem to have nice new features since i was last burning through them like hotcakes. So now i'm thinking - with these new features, there might be hope for a controller that can last (at the very least, a year!) for competitive gaming. Is there something like that standing out?
@@noiJadisCailleach There is a lot to unpack. First of, you could consider looking into hall-effect keyboards. I have a review of one on my channel that also breaks down the tech, that should tell you if it works for you or not. As for controllers, by the sound of it, you need to stick to membrane buttons because it sounds like Tactile/microswitch will hurt (they have no « cushion ». Quite frankly, I think you should try landing a « great quality for great value » option. This way, changing them regularly wouldn’t matter as much. I’d say the GameSir Kaleid sounds like a very viable solution. Or the G7 SE / HE models. Also a potential opportunity to test great mechanical face buttons and see if they work for you.
@@GameTechTalk Thank you! Oh wow. I never even thought about HE on KBs! I found your review. You're right, it totally makes sense if you want a KB for competitive gaming. In my search for the past few days, i was thinking of getting a Gulikit KK3 max because it seems customizable and easily moddable? Question mark? Because they sell sticks and face buttons, but they seem to offer it for other controllers, not their own? In the promotional ad images, you don't even see a Gulikit controller that's compatible with the parts they're selling, nor text. I haven't seen one review, testimonial, store rating comment, or anything in the internet that used these Gulikit parts and used it on a Gulikit controller. It's soooooooo weird and frustrating to be in this info limbo. 😭 All i want is to workaround the nightmare that is mushy, unreliable buttons. pffffffffffffffffffffffffffff.... So imma just take up your recommendation in blind faith and buy both a Kaleid and a G7 HE instead. LOL! p.s. Btw, i looked up a HE KB and found this XVX G75. And it's just $65!! Imma get that next. @@noiJadisCailleach DUDE!!! Please visit again and let me know of your progress. So happy to know I was able to help but don't leave me in limbo here k? Looking forward to hearing your feedback, cheers!
I did not benchmark latency, never pretended to do so either, I said my impressions were that this is still not a competitive controller much like previous 8BitDo controllers before it. With that said, I did a firmware update and it vastly VASTLY improved the stick performance, which was the main element that I based my thesis from. Considering the price point? It's a better controller than I initially had, it just shipped with undesirable firmware, but the updated one, which was not available when I filmed this review, is a major improvement.
I didn’t do a good job at expressing myself clearly with this video. What I say is « historically » as in the previous controllers were never great for competitive gaming, which I still think is not a strong suit of the 2C but that’s not due to input lag, that’s just because the sticks are not particularly good for aiming, in my personal opinion. As for latency, I actually think this controller is better than any other 8BitDo before it. Edit: Please not that I haven’t tested latency per se, I just go by how it felt.
Quite frankly, I don't consider it to be an upgrade to the C but I could've done a better job at illustrating that the C does have a spot in-between Ultimate 2.4Ghz and 2C. My apology. To me, the 2C is more of a lateral upgrade than a vertical one. It improves on certain aspects, it gets worst on others. I still love the 2C, even more now with the latest update.
Oh I may not be the best person for this question but hands down without a doubt EasySMX X10. The 2C is not bad, but it's main appeal is it's extremely cost efficient. The X10 actually has a lot of redeemable qualities in comparison. The 2C would be best compared against the Nova Lite and I would tend to give the Nova Lite the victory, just an overall better experience between the two.
@@dukevicent If you just want good reliable hall-effect sticks, go Nova Lite. It's really a banger controller for the cost, GameSir really knock it out the park with that one. As for the X10, it is a better controller than the Nova Lite for sure, if you don't mind the extra cost, it's actually a very very pleasant controller. I also like the purple one personally but that's superfluous. If you do get it from EasySMX's website, use code: "gametechtalk", it'll give you an extra 12% off. Cheers! :)
The eternal debate isn't it... With that said, I agree 😅 I mean, if I have 4 paddles and 2 up top? Sure why not, but if it's a choice, I'm team "back paddles" for sure.
Not without some kind of converter and it wouldn't be guaranteed for the controller to recognize the 2C since it has an uncommon Android HID protocol (by console standard).
Fair enough, I still grabbed it to update my controller cause I thought it made no sense that so many people loved it while I was here having terrible stick experiences and the firmware completely improved my experience.
Suponiendo que inicies el juego en tu PC usando Steam, sí, funcionará. Fuera de esa configuración, dependerá de cómo accederás al juego, ya que puedes tener problemas de compatibilidad.
I feel like most of these "performnace" things don't matter because why wouldn't I just use a mouse for competitive games like any rational person. A controller is for fun casual play.
As someone that reviews a lot of controllers, I am contractually obligated to not agree with that. . . Jokes of course, indeed, I play FPSes on mouse and keyboards, and for someone who does, I think this controller becomes an amazing companion for "everything else". It's just not a controller designed for precision, but I'm taking a lot of flack in some comments, despite having expressed that I still like it for 3rd person games and just about everything else (except competitive titles or "try hard" titles).
Your Review doesnt make too much sense, mate. The C2 is not a succesor of the Ultimate, but the Ultimate C (1) and costs half as much as the Ultimate that you are comparing it with all the time. (what also causes your title to not make a lot of sense here) And its even weirder, when you are also saying that you apparently have all of the products, but then dont know about that very substancial difference. And that also means that you are purposefully comparing the C2 with the Ultimate and not the first Ultimate C. (I know, naming conventions of this company suck, but either you have as much clue about the products you are reviewing as you make it seem to be or you dont) Also Polling Rates are not a Stable metric, they are changing depending on the activity and speed of the device. (techless did a great video about mouse polling rates in those regards a few days ago) The Polling Rate basically sets the ceiling of what the device can technically support if the activity demands it, but most poeple wont ever use 100% of it with a controller, except maybe for somne fast Fighting games or stuff like that. So the numbers are absolutely realistic and fine for a controller. It might also say a lot about your personal biases that you are comparing devices, but only put numbers on the screen for one of them - why that? In general i get the feeling that you went into this with a very negative bias towards the device or brand, what is technically fine, but should not color a Review as a whole. You are often extrapolating experiences with the brand (for example in the performance section) from previous 8bitdo products to this one, without actually telling your audience if that is the case with this(!) product too or not and without providing any numerical comparisons to underline your point of this brand having a lesser performance that could matter.
I understand. Look, that video was simply not made for you. You know a lot about these products, a lot of people don't. I was addressing the people for whom those differences weren't so obvious to make sure people coming from Ultimate thinking Ultimate 2C (which can imply a sequel) was not to be deceived, nor confused. I'll admit that I could've done a better job including Ultimate C in that conversation. Still, even versus C, this controller loses some features, while adding some. Believe me, I wish I could come out a perfect UA-camr but I'm not, I'm a slow learner and this was a learning experience. Thanks for watching, and for your inputs, I'll take that as an opportunity to learn, and to grow.
@@GameTechTalk If you had adressed the people, that didnt know the difference, then you would have made that clear in the video - but you didnt. Nobody that did not knew the difference would leave the video and would know it. It just feels dishonest. And your reply here doesnt help. Either you DID NOT knew the difference yourself, but then you should have cut out the talk about having every controller in your collection, painting you as more of an authority on this than you are. Or you DID knew the difference and you did all this intentionally. Comparing constantly two controllers in completely different price categories, mostly without offering evidence for the statements that you have made and without clarifying the misleading naming-scheme of the controllers. You can see the image that you have left your viewers with in the comments. And maybe if it might help for the future - this company goes completely ape-shit with their naming schemes. They have the... 1. Ultimate Wired Controller for Windows (which is a hard wired Controller, without Hall or most other features, except back-buttons - have that one myself from 2018) 2. @@CallMeTeci The thing is, in my conclusion, it's a fairly positive one. I praise the controller for its merits, I recommend it. @@CallMeTeci I respect your passion towards controllers but you went on about this the wrong way. You seem smart, Now its time to learn to be decent, Have a wonderful day/night.
@@david_ced It's possible that they have made some updates since. I also saw people say that this controller now supports software. At the time of making this review, both these things were not working but if they are now, I say bravo to 8BitDo. I just don't have the answer as to if it does or not at this point in time. Sorry
No one, we talked about different things. They pulled latency, I pulled polling rate. My opinion is based off of how the sticks felt and despite the 8BitDo 2C having phenomenal latency performance, the sticks do not give me an experience to match. I simply have a different opinion but also a different perspective, that’s all.
the stuff you say as ''negative" performance wise for this controller doesn't make to much sense , MY GUY this a 30 dollars budget controller , wtf do you expect? , you should be comparing this to a other budget controller of the same exact price , it's like comparing a bicycle with a car , it sounds dumb
I bought this hoping it would have software profiling, it does not. I think im gunna send it back. its a waste of my money. The marketing around this controller absolutely sucks.
Sorry to hear. I do think it's being put on a pedestal beyond it's reach. Not that it's bad, it's definitely got some great qualities like value for example but it's not the second coming of Jesus like I find it seems implied a little too often. (being sarcastic of course)
@@GameTechTalk What really killed it for me is that the triggers are only recognised as switches in Bluetooth mode which renders it useless in most driving games in Bluetooth mode at least and Bluetooth is handy when using my laptop but now it means plugging that dongle into everything just to get the trigger functionality, there maybe a fix in later software updates but I'm not sure about it. The software isn't even signed which raises some issues when using the firmware update software from their website.

@@GameTechTalkhow about actually testing performance instead of making stuff up and saying it's a bad controller for performance when it quits literally has the lowest dongle latency of any controller tested on the gamepad latency tester website.
@@lemon777r Alright, I'll do better over time, thanks for your inputs. As for making stuff up, I only shared what my experience was. I still stand by the fact that it is not a controller for Call of Duty, it is not a controller designed for competitive gameplay. If you listen til the end, I still praised the controller, while making some points about some of my dislikes.
@@GameTechTalk I never said you didn't praise the controller. I'm saying you made stuff up instead and went with gut feeling instead of doing actual testing. I've found several sources testing the latency and it's actually very impressive. Lowest dongle latency tested by gamepad latency tester. Ltt found it had the lowest latency out of all the controller they tested in their own lab, etc. The not made for competitive gaming thing makes no sense to me. It is a budget controller, but if I'm truly competitive gaming in a shooter.. why wouldn't I go for the lowest latency controller?
@@lemon777r Buy it, test it out yourself. Numbers, I take into account, but my own experiences too. Do you expect me to lie and say: "It's perfect" just because it looks good on paper and in numbers? Rewatch the LTT video and notice how he wasn't able to beat the Meat Boy stage with the 2C, yet grabs a Logitech that he deems bad and proceeds to do it nearly immediately after (based off of presented footage). That was my experience too. My score on Aimlabs? Do you think I made that up too? That's one of the worst scores I ever clocked on nearly 50 controllers I tested, some I have footage and videos on, some I don't. You go ahead and make me the bad guy in your perception, you won't be the first, you won't be the last.
Based
@@drmarmal8 Was gonna point this out too. But you said it all. Ultimate C to Ultimate 2C should be a great review video.

@@garouthemonster9718
Correct.

That sounds like social media in a nutshell...😁
Seriously though...the latency issue does deserve some clarification IMHO. Both LTT and the two dedicated latency test databases show a pretty low latency for the 8bitdo controller.
Could you test that aspect again and give us some numbers?
Questions for the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless Version:
Does it have vibration motors, and does the controller vibration work in Steam games, Epic Games, and Xbox Game Pass games?
@@GameTechTalk Thank you sooooo much

@KiwiDragn So which one have you decided to go with now ?

@@KiwiDragn I have the 8BitDo Ultimate Wired Controller for Xbox in my sights also.
I wanted to make sure I illustrated that difference rather than leave them thinking: "Wait, why didn't the guy on YT say it doesn't have a dock, doesn't have software, doesn't work on Switch, etc, etc..."
Thanks for the kind words btw!
@@GameTechTalk Wow I didnt expect such difference. Thankies so much for the review!
Well thank you greatly!

Yeah, I gotta admit, I was already positive about it but I enjoyed it way more after updating the firmware. The sticks were unreliable to me but since getting on 1.06, it completely fixed the stick curve. I actually like it a lot now. Cheers!
@GameTechTalk the only issue I've noticed is the left trigger has a bigger deadzone then the right but I cant adjust anything in the software
@@HutchyyGB Having that software would be so sweet!
Right, I should've gone "all three" rather than addressing just these two. My mistake
I have 8bitdo ultimate bt and i noticed a little joystick woble before it registered probably cheap plastic but when it starts registering is really accurate
But idk if unlimited 2c minimize the wobble and i hope joystick a little bit better
@@GameTechTalk it doesn't bother that much or at all unless it's fps game
Because it's probably very minor but for me as it's my first controller I didn't understand how people can play with higher dead zone because I'm not use to
That's a shame that they went away from the SNES feeling d-pad and replaced it with a tactile.

It's not hall-effect.
I'd always take the one with hall effect sticks and triggers. It's basically purchase and forget.
A fair assessment all things considered.

@@GameTechTalk it’s $35 on amazon, hmmmm not bad, not bad lol
This isn't the only 8bitdo Ultimate controller that has 1000Hz polling rate, the 2.4G version can also 1000Hz as well after one of the firmware updates adjusted the polling rates. However, the 2C has 1000Hz for BOTH wired and 2.4G modes, the Ultimate 2.4G can only do 1000Hz wired whereas 2.4G mode goes up to 166Hz.
That’s pretty amazing, not going to lie, I wasn’t aware of that update but viewers kindly have informed me of that update from 8BitDo.
Ultimate 2 c means ultimate 2(CHEAPER version), the ultimate is 70 dollars this is 30
WHY even compare??
Because it is not that obvious to everyone, but I sure am glad that it is obvious to you. Don't take my word for it, read comments on this video, read comments on other videos, people are not a fan of their naming scheme. With that said, the 2C on it's own is also a controller with drastic changes for the history of the brand overall (like that D-pad).
i dont get it
how is it not optimal for games where i want a good latency controller?
your test says it has 1,2ms wired and 1,6ms wireless latency
it dont get much better than this
atleast not near this price range
i wanted a good latency controller for nba 2k25 and i havent seen one review that reaches this numbers
The latency you see is "synthetic", it's based off of an average polling rate and while polling rate can indeed be an indicator of performance, it is not a guarantee. So my assessment is a mix of "feel and data". Besides that, I re-listened to the performance segment of my video and indeed, I can see how it
can be confusing. What I was saying is historically, 8BitDo are not "performance-driven" controllers, as in they have a bit more input lag than average, they don't have amazing stick resolution or algorithm, but they make up for that with style, software and overall positive experience.
>> With that said, as of late, they have improved a lot on that.
@@GameTechTalk ah ok
then yeah i think it will be fine for 2k
thanks for your detailed answer mate
Curious about the website you used to test the input lag of the controller. Could you share that?
Sure, it's Gamepadla and is built from amazing controller wizards, John Punch and Anna Punch. They have lots of data, tools and are awesome!
i wonder if the software issue has been sorted, its been a short time since then but then one can hope. ngl i felt pretty hyped up about the R4/L4 buttons as i just cannot use backpedals, so this placement is much easier for me, plus, being a monster hunter player, i can see some cool applications for these "all in one" buttons, but judging from this, i'm kinda torn here.
i'd like a second opinion on this for the people that have this controller, i'm using a xbox series x controller wired for comparison, and i have no complaints whatsoever, its solid as hell, no notes.
@@GameTechTalk ah alright, maybe its worth a shot then! thank you for the feedback!
That 2C Wukong is very pretty. But so is the Genshin Ultimate… Dilemmas am I right?
honestly the only thing i hate about the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C is I wish the bumpers where in a position where my index fingers rest on without moving them up a little
Like if they had kept them in the back like the Ultimate 2.4Ghz?
@@GameTechTalk yes but no, if they kept the width from the ultimate and ultimate c while making it longer and rounded as they did for the 2c it would be better IMO. tho I do understand the concession due to the l4 and r4 buttons. honestly to me I don't care for paddles or extra buttons like that. or even just make l4 and r4 buttons area apart of the shoulder buttons. either way the ultimate 3c or whatever their next controller is I hope it is the best of all their best ideas.
So, my opinion:
I was able to order the Ultimate C for 24€ with free shipping.
Maybe it works on the switch flawlessly, but I don't own a switch, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It is a nice controller... It feels nice, the mechanical D-Pad is... Confusing to put it politely... Not for D-Pad focused games IMO, but many might be able to get used to it just fine? I wouldn't bet on it, but anyways...
What about the Ultimate 2C. I haven't received it yet 🙃
As long as it has a light feel on the buttons, good sticks and trigger, then I'll be quite happy with it. 1000hz is a great bonus, even if it performs like 700hz or something...
In my mind the 2C outperforms the 5G Pro Elite which is supposed to be very good.
"What about Dolphin Emulator?" you might say...
I would say that the G5 doesn't really work either :3 But I would mainly say this:
The Switch controller isn't a nice controller.
@@GameTechTalkSo, I have received mine and did some latency tests:
The controller was getting an avg polling rate of 920hz, min latency 1ms, max latency 3ms, stability 92%. Average latency 1.09ms. To me this is a true 1000hz controller with a not so perfect stability (seems to be hitting 3ms 2% of the time and 2hz 4% of the time...)
HOWEVER, after that I went ahead and did a firmware update on the controller...
24€ for something of this performance and quality, I couldn't possibly complain ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For me, this competes with the dualsense and the xbox controller just fine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
one question I have is ?
does it work with the wireless usb adapter so that makes it compatible with consoles ?
It does not. For the controller to work on consoles, you'll need an adapter. Maybe we'll get Switch down the road? Usually, 8BitDo controllers do work on Switch, this one is the exception so we'll see as time goes by.
Well the lack of software is actually a plus for me. I'm planning on using this on Linux.
According to their Website, the Ultimate Software should work with this Controller. Since I don't have mine yet I can't test it though
Do you have it now please update@@rolandrohde
Ohh that would be nice if they updated it to work! I'll have to check that out, thanks for mentioning it! @rolandrohde
yeah im thinking of getting one of these because of the 2.4ghz dongle. My bluetooth controllers dont play nice with linux
@@GameTechTalk Could you update if this is the case?
I'm about to make a purchase from way out of USA. Please tell me that this is going to be the same or better than my existing Xbox controller?
Cheers! :)
How does this compare to a Sony Dualsense(non-edge) in terms of performance?
It doesn't. I was going to make a comparison using food but it was too harsh to the 2C. It's a fine balance trying to say that the 2C is decent but when putting it head to head with the Dualsense, it's hard not to sound as if I'm bashing the 2C. They are leagues apart.
@@GameTechTalk Thanks, I was trying to decide if a Dualsense was worth the price premium
@@UA-camDenizen I would most definitely say that it does.
@@GameTechTalk I see. For fighting games, which controller would you recommend? $30 Budget
@@kazui6790 I can’t speak for the X05 as I still haven’t laid hands on it so with that in mind, I’d go Nova Lite
The 2C still remains a decent option, but one I would think is better geared towards leisure gaming, where it is about having fun and a good time, not so much about being competitive.
they also has that ultimate c. what's the difference between that and 2c?
The C is also a trickled down Ultimate but the feature set is different, no hall-effect, Switch support, membrane d-pad, sums up some of the things off the top of my head.
You talk about your testing, do you have number or this is just by feeling
Cheers!
@@GameTechTalk Thank you so much
Your ultimate bluetooth have hall effect stick bro, some of them use gulikit stick, some use k silver.
Someone already opened a 2C, it's using Gulikit sticks. The hall effect sn30 pro, pro 2 and ultimate 2.4ghz uses k-silver jh-16.
Sub'd.
@@Brandon4EK Thanks! 🙏 Happy gaming!
Good review but I feel most negatives you mentioned only matter to "Controller Enthusiasts" more so than the Average Gamer.
That's fair. I think I reviewed this controller not taking into count how affordable that it really is in the scheme of things. I'll do better next time, thanks for providing feedback the way you have, it's appreciated.
Do you think that they will update the other ultimates as well? Ngl I am also confused by the naming scheme
For sure they will, I think personally that it is best to sit a little while until those models are upgraded but if you need one today, and aren't much of an FPS player, it's still a solid solution.
@GameTechTalk Yeah, that sounds reasonable. I'm not in a hurry, I will wait for possible updates since I need iPad and Windows compatibility
Such a shame cuz 8bitdo just released a Black Myth: Wukong collab for the 2C and it looks great
@@RealArthurMorgan99 It does look mighty sexy, I'll give em that!
I think you should've compared this controller to the 8bitdo Ultimate C instead of the base Ultimate model.
@@GameTechTalk No problem man. Still loved the video. And as a sucker that just bought the Ultimate C a year ago, I'm a little pissed off.
It inspires a facepalm and a: "What the heck is this guy on about?"
I get it, I'll take the heat if it means helping the ones that I have.
Cheers!

has anything improved with the software?
Vastly. The software is only to do the update but the update GREATLY improved the sticks. Night and day kind of thing. I can openly say that if I had reviewed the controller later (when said firmware was available for me to patch it), I would've had different more positive things to say about this controller, despite the review not being negative at all.

But i am late... I already order it few days ago..... Its coming now.... Should i return it or take it? If i return they gave back my money sure..... BTW i am a fc25/efootball player on pc STEAM.... So what can i do now... My future choice is Tarantula... May be i will buy Tarantula on December....
Plz help
So, I might do a follow-up video at some point, I did a firmware update that completely elevated this controller for me. Give it a try once you get it, you might like it! Just make sure it is on firmware 1.06 or higher. The Tarantula is a BEAST!!!
@@GameTechTalk ok than i will try... Sry to hurry but if you up a video in between 2-4 days about new experience after the update it might helps me specifically... Because my controller will come tomorrow and i hav only 7days to return.. So i hope you understand.... Again sorry 🙏.....
@@GameTechTalk ok boss let me try it on effootball /fc 25
@@GameTechTalk brother can you told me that how i check my polling rate & Input delay???
thanks for this. I really like the 8bitdo software. if it dosent support it, i wont buy it for the time being 👍
I love it too! I wish they would bring support to the 2C, right now it's limited to firmware update only. Let's hope they change their stance. Cheers!
Is it better than xbox one controller?
I would say so.
It's weird that they have 3 different Ultimate controllers, and none have all the ultimate features.
🤣🤣🤣 When you put it like that. 🤭
Ok, so this is the little brother controller you give to someone else
I really like the way your presenting this!
I usually give them the 8bitdo zero 2
@@pepito69 brutal
@@pepito69 Great controller, I love mine. Not necessarily to game with but it has a lot of uses beyond that!
For the time you gave, Thanks again! :D
@@noiJadisCailleach DUDE!!! Please visit again and let me know of your progress. So happy to know I was able to help but don't leave me in limbo here k? Looking forward to hearing your feedback, cheers!
Well, tests show that your opinion is not very accurate on the performance of the 2c ultimate, at least regarding latency.
It's a better controller than I initially had, it just shipped with undesirable firmware, but the updated one, which was not available when I filmed this review, is a major improvement.
why does C work on the switch and 2C doesn't?
Weird decisions for sure
@@GameTechTalkbut if 2C has bluetooth, why doesn't it work on switch?
@@larinha_sz I think it's got to do with the way that the controller is spoofed, or rather, that it isn't. Couldn't say for sure though.
The C defaults to being a switch controller on bluetooth. 2c sounds like it presents itself as something else.
@@KhajitxiI do wish they made that less confusing for consumers with their naming scheme but otherwise, you are correct.
Is it supports steamdeck with doc station?
It hasn’t last I checked but I’ve been reading that they made updates.
But on a haked Nintendo switch ?? It works ?
I wouldn't be able to say sorry
interesting you say to input lag and latency... other reviewers had rated this one of the best performers. I think you got a bad one.
It is an upgrage to the ultimate c but not the ultimate.
I was waiting this review from you my friendo!!! Now the question, this ultimate 2c or the easysmx x10!?
Oh I may not be the best person for this question but hands down without a doubt EasySMX X10. The 2C is not bad, but it's main appeal is it's extremely cost efficient. The X10 actually has a lot of redeemable qualities in comparison. The 2C would be best compared against the Nova Lite and I would tend to give the Nova Lite the victory, just an overall better experience between the two.
@@GameTechTalk thx bro! now i have the Gamesir Nova Lite in sight, but, between Nova Lite vs EasySmx x10??? Thanks bro!!! Keep the good work!!!!
Cheers! :)
@@GameTechTalk Yiiiiiiiiiiiiish lml
putting buttons on the top instead of the back already tells me a I shouldn't buy this controller.
The eternal debate isn't it... With that said, I agree 😅 I mean, if I have 4 paddles and 2 up top? Sure why not, but if it's a choice, I'm team "back paddles" for sure.
Android works with 2.4G or only Bluetooth?
It should technically work with both, though the dongle solution would be less than ideal since you'll need a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
does it have gyroscope?
Nope, no gyro on that one unfortunately, no Switch support either.
Is it compatible with ps4?
Not without some kind of converter and it wouldn't be guaranteed for the controller to recognize the 2C since it has an uncommon Android HID protocol (by console standard).
No software is a good thing, I don't want bloatware.
Fair enough, I still grabbed it to update my controller cause I thought it made no sense that so many people loved it while I was here having terrible stick experiences and the firmware completely improved my experience.
@@TheTheAaronis I wouldn't know unfortunately but it's worth a try if you got it!
(what also causes your title to not make a lot of sense here)
And its even weirder, when you are also saying that you apparently have all of the products, but then dont know about that very substancial difference. And that also means that you are purposefully comparing the C2 with the Ultimate and not the first Ultimate C. (I know, naming conventions of this company suck, but either you have as much clue about the products you are reviewing as you make it seem to be or you dont)
Also Polling Rates are not a Stable metric, they are changing depending on the activity and speed of the device.
1. Ultimate Wired Controller for Windows (which is a hard wired Controller, without Hall or most other features, except back-buttons - have that one myself from 2018)
2. Ultimate Wired for Xbox (A USB-C wired Controller with the official Xbox logo branding, Hall effect joysticks and back-buttons)
3. Ultimate Wireless (The ones with the dock, you showed in the video)
4. Ultimate C Wired/Wireless (budget class controller from them. I guess C = Cheap? 🤷 Has barely any special features, no back-buttons, no Hall, nothing)
5. Ultimate C Wired for Xbox (Has Hall Joysticks)
6. Ultimate 3-mode Controller for Xbox (Has 3 Modes and Hall Effect Triggers and JS)
7. And now the Ultimate C2 Wired/Wireless (which is the controller in this video)
Honestly... You could have spend five minutes alone burning them to crisps, because of this bs. xD
@@CallMeTeci The thing is, in my conclusion, it's a fairly positive one. I praise the controller for its merits, I recommend it. I think you are judging this video, and me since you are making assumptions about my motives, without having watched the entirety of the video.
Regardless of what I say, or how I say it, I think you've made your mind about me, your words imply as such. I have to move on if I want to be better, I can't stand still on this. I won't try to convince you any longer, sorry that I gave you a wrong impression, it's on me, it's not on you.
@@CallMeTeci I respect your passion towards controllers but you went on about this the wrong way.

On Steam on PC yes, on Steam Deck, no.
@@GameTechTalk i’ve read on reddit that some people got this controller working on the steam deck. which one is correct?
@@david_ced It's possible that they have made some updates since. I also saw people say that this controller now supports software. At the time of making this review, both these things were not working but if they are now, I say bravo to 8BitDo. I just don't have the answer as to if it does or not at this point in time. Sorry
10:50 name of the game please
It is called Souldiers, fun Metroidvania on Steam if you like grindy games. (which I do so I liked it a lot!)
I'm sad it doesn't have gyro
Unfortunately. It’s a good controller for the price but it’s not an “everything” controller from where I stand.
Linus test show othe results... who is laying?
I see. I'll take your comment into consideration and I'll hope to do better next time. Thanks for sharing your inputs.

But I’m opened to learning so show me the way, one I can hear and I’ll work on improving.
bruh your testing is garbage

Yep, it is not good enough because it is only 30 $. It is the price of the lowest tier
I wouldn't say so. It's a very solid controller for many reasons, if put a little too hastly on a pedestal as far as I am concerned.
