Hey! Thanks for the review, been waiting for this for like a year, since i saw the season preview :) Definitely mixed feelings about this wad, i am glad it got finished in the end, there are some great moments, i learned a lot, and made a bunch of good community friends through this (shout outs to Paul977 and a2rob who contributed a lot to this wad). However i do regret spending so much time on it, things got to a point where i'd already invested a lot of time on my mapping so i figured i needed to try and get the final result to reach a certain standard, which was perhaps unnecessary in hindsight and way beyond the scope of this project really. The wad definitely contributed to a lot of mapping/doom jadedness for me, unfortunately. Some clarification about certain maps... Map15 - i only made the first hub area on this one. Paul handled the final fight. Map30 - i made quite a lot of this one in the end, a lot of the combat sections in the 'red' areas and the entirety of the 'green' area. I guess it's pretty obvious that this is two maps stitched together, i could have done a better job with that regard. I really like the aesthetic of the alien planet you find yourself entering at the end, will revisit that one day! Map32 - Bemused was originally talking about using this for Abandon.wad but the layout was perhaps lacking something, so i yoinked it and plastered fireblu everywhere... this was the result! Regarding Nova IV... be the change you wish to see? I'd say MtPain has enough clout that, if they started such a project, it would get enough attention for it to be worthwhile imo ;)
With all the scandals of copied essays, the overabundance of reaction content and general low effort videos around youtube, this channel and mtpain masterful writing is really appreciated, really, I look fordward to your art more than anything your run of the mill streaming service could hope to do.
*puts tinfoil hat on* It was going to be "Sunlust and thanks for all the fish" but then Eviternity II came out and the plan changed to "OMG, let's end with a Sigil II quickie for now" :)
MAP25 used to have a different soundtrack, and it was a MIDI rendition of "Road 8 Music" from Skyroads. While that soundtrack was one of the best video game music from my childhood, I must admit that the soundtrack became a little bit repetitive with this 40-minutes-length adventure. "Stardust" by Tristan Clark was the savior of this level from this situation, and the new soundtrack made this level even more memorable than before. Thank you very much for this christmas present, and good luck with the next video, featuring Eternal Doom 😄
"When you play as much Doom as I do, sparks of originality become more precious than whole maps of clean execution." Ain't that the truth? Sometimes an entire mapset can be solid from top to bottom, but it's the stuff that leaves a funky taste in your mouth that you want to talk about. Good on you for finally writing the script and shooting the footage dean. Definitely is no easy task to sit down and try and conjure the right words to something so personally formative, especially if-like me-you're not even sure where to begin or how long to divest in miscellaneous tangents. I could hear the reverence in your voice when reviewing maps 31 & 25, and I think you treated the whole set very fairly. The NOVA 3 alums must have sparkles in their eyes upon watching this.
No idea what 'THAT Killer5' means at the start.. I guess I have truly reached infamous status in this community which is perfectly fine with me tbh. My participation in this wad was a last minute thing iirc. Scotty was looking for another map so I gave him one. Map18 was much different initially. It was going to be an all bfg map with incredibly overtuned fights in each area with no room to move. Revs at the start, the manc in the block lines was originally a cyb, the revs at the end of the hall were going to be a large rev wave in that tiny hallway after dealing with the cyb, the large outdoor area was going to be a big fight but was cut because Scotty was looking for a brief map so you just tp a cyb and get a view foreshadowing the secret rl fight/revealing its location (outdoor area was going to be too difficult anyways), the cyb telefrag was also almost a weird puzzle thing because originally I had the player telefrag four cybs around a few voodoo dolls just chilling out for no reason and ribbiks had thought it was going to be a puzzle and was sad it wasn't, I had thought about putting plasma in the secret fight for the rl but I wanted to keep a bit of a 'fuck you' in the map for the player - this decision for the final fight probably ended up making everyone hate the map if they hadn't already but so be it. I can't remember if I made that final pit escapable.. maybe it was only for lower difficulties. Should probably implement my original version of the map for something because I couldn't help but have loads of fun thinking about it back when this was made. Really enjoyed paul's, a2rob's, bemused's, and scotty's works the most in this wad. I think map31's midtexture usage or however it was done in the machine you activate throughout the map is also great (a different way of showing progression without the usage of keys). Fun video as always.
Thanks for all the background info: MAP18 was my introduction to your work. I’m glad you didn’t go with your original plan though, haha. “That Killer5” definitely doesn’t have a negative valence. It’s just that your maps are rarely approachable for mere mortals and your appearance here is a bit unexpected. Looking forward to playing more of your stuff, thanks for dropping by.
"DMPhobos pledges allegiance to BTSX..." Funny enough when i did my Nova 3 map i hadn't played btsx yet (tho i was aware of it). Originally i had submitted it with "Kitchen ace" as the midi for that map, but Scotty suggested picking up a midi from btsx1, so i ended up checking the music for btsx1 and after asking jimmy if he was okay with me using one of his btsx midis i used "conductor" which i guess makes it feel very btsx inspired map. Kinda sad to hear my map lacked a bit of personality on its own, but i guess it does feel a bit derivative in it's look and gameplay, it was an early map of sorts for me since before that all i was doing was blocky gzdoom stuff, so considering that, i guess it's an okay map. I always considered it as the map where i started to find my voice and style for my future maps, with all the odd angles and weird shaped rooms
I tell my partner, "Just going to eat something quick and I'll help" *cue seeing a new Dean of Doom episode is live* "Might take a bit longer actually"
"Hold onto your sanity as the edges of reality fray around you, or confusion will be your epitaph" is in serious contention for the most poetic line in series history. Can't wait to see this series return.
Ayyy this is an early Christmas present if there ever was one! Really enjoyed hearing some of the lore speculation for Solar Powered ☀️ Also cool to look back and see how stacked the mapper list was in this project, Scotty deserves a lot of credit for steering this one to the finish line
Wish I saw this video when it came out. Seeing how others react to my work, good or bad, has always been a delight and I’m always disappointed when nothing comes up during a search. Hearing my rooftop fight get described as “colour vomit” was such an unexpected yet accurate description that I had to pause the video so I could laugh for a while. Yeah, Platform Base is not my best map, believe it or not I’ve made well over a hundred Doom maps, that’s simply the only one that’s been released to the public (for good reason). I believe my lack of confidence in creating fun combat and properly-flowing environments led me to overcompensate with environmental storytelling, which isn’t a substitute but that’s where my brain went for some reason. I’ve been wanting to get back into mapping for some time but have really struggled to muster the motivation and inspiration to work for more than ten minutes before abandoning a map. I have an especially cool idea I really want to make but it just refuses to manifest the way I want it to. My other Community Project submissions are for Heretic and Hexen, all of which I think have much better execution than Platform Base. If you ever decide to branch out and review Heretic/Hexen CPs, I believe HUMP and XUMP are good places to start, there are some amazing maps in there, in my opinion.
I'm surprised the Dean hasn't chosen to feature the famous "MyHouse" WAD that shook the internet earlier this year. Admittedly, that WAD is less "Doom" and more "The Stanley Parable" in essence but I was wondering what the Dean thought of that very unique Doom WAD.
"Balanced for breezy ballistics" on map 22 caught my attention. You can't sneak that past me, Dean! I have a love of alteration myself, I notice it every time you use it 😂
Thank you for another great DoD episode. I remember watching Decino play Alpha Scorpii Supercluster during one of his streams. It was just magic and that midi didn't even come close to getting old. And thanks as well for a great year. I was relatively late to your channel after Decino's Ancient Aliens live stream but better late than never. Wishing you and your family a wonderful festive season. Looking forward to seeing what 2024 has in store!
It was great to see you cover this gem of a megawad. I hope the NOVA series continues amongst it's mappers, but if it doesn't, it reached a dignified end. Also, merry Christmas, and happy New Year!
32:00 Is that a reference I hear to your Community Chest 2 episode, a wad also containing a large Map27 that uses a too short DooM I midi ("Deep Into The Code is much too short a midi for a map this size") that you commented on? (Thankfully this Map27 doesn't sound quite that disagreeable as it was in CC2!)
>Muting Wild Guns' first stage music in map 29 Damn, that broke my heart, but I get it. I mean, that first stage is only 5 minutes in an arcade style third person shooter. Jokes aside, what a Christmas present this is, Dean. You've outdone yourself again and as usual, I got this cozy, comfy feeling from watching this episode and witnessing your passion for Doom. Definitely gonna check out Nova III.
Merry Christmas, and a happy 2024 for you good sir! Glad to see a new Dean of Doom episode during the Christmas period :) Looking forward to the SIGIL II episode ;)
Gotta say. I love the passion. its not often i get excited just hearing people speak about something. but i have replayed the part of map 25 soo many times.
Awesome Wad when I did map 2 that was pretty much my 4th Doom 2 map that I submitted to Doomworld Some others were Joe Ilya's tune up project license to Ilya and Switcheroom 2 I also worked on the Doom 2 Redux project with 7 credits. I've been working on my own stuff with some IRL friends with 14 maps in it. Maybe sometime I'll get a real hankering to finish it. MAP25 was easily my favorite and has one of the best midis I've ever heard.
A long-anticipated episode, and was a joy to listen to! There are lots of rough patches in NOVA III and maps that are almost winners yet don't quite stick, but the fact that a community project of this quality was made with just one returning NOVA II mapper and a CC1 mapper coming back from a long hiatus in its 'experienced' list speaks loud to quality of output in the community. (And Nanka is one of the inarguably JPCP stars who I always wish made more.) And that secret map lineup...what a time to come across it those three years (almost to the day) ago just after writing about The Mucus Flow. A (slightly early) Happy Holidays wish as well! Looking forward to the grand finale 😀
Last night: Been a while since the dean posted…eh probably just taking a well deserved holiday break. Wakes up to see a new episode dropped: huh, would you look at that… A solid end to the year MtPain! Looking forward to the new content coming in 2024!
merry christmas and happy holidays Professor, hope you're doing well! Been waiting this for wad since I finished it in July after the secret maps video essay got me interested and while it had a few dull maps that I outright skipped, the creativity and overall quality were pretty good. Map32 is one of my favorite maps from kind of an opposite perspective as you, it's almost like comfort food for me or rather popcorn, combining some of my favorite doom tropes of cyberdemon fights that encourage two-shotting, bfg rushing archvile waves, easy platforming, and silly skeleton clusters easily dismantled, the music is a great fit too. I should really get around to tablefilling its max :P I HAVE to praise your writing for map25, it speaks to your immense talent and often infectious love for this game that map25, a map that I didn't actually enjoy, feels truly like one of the best maps ever made. Considering the remaining two wads (speaking of which is this season gonna surpass 20 episodes or have you set aside one of them), I'm very excited for the final stretch of the season (and simultaneously dreading it as an Eternal Doom fan heh)
Your description of MAP32 parallels mine of Eviternity II for me. It’s Christmas in Australia 2023. It’s a hot Summer’s night. And I didn’t think Doom could leave me lost for words anymore. Boy was I wrong. Nothing exemplifies the Joy of Doom more than its ability to make you go “….wow”.
I know it's a year later but I can somewhat relate, even to the date. Christmas Eve in Scotland(miserable weather, so just normal scottish weather) and I had started Map32 of Eviternity II at 11pm, and didn't finish until 3am Christmas morning. I was so immersed by it that time ran away from me, but it wasn't until I got to Map10 and Tristan's The Sandwalker started playing that I just sat there with the goofiest smile on my face, thinking 'why did I stop playing this for so long, and why not start sooner?'. That's up there for one of the best Doom experiences I've ever had, and despite only being here for 4 years, I'll always be grateful for what the community has created. Also, it's christmas eve again as of writing this, and no prizes for guessing what I'm playing right now 🥳
Ah neat, I am glad that you liked some of the more unusual maps in this set (Albetoni being one of these). The original plan was to have a newbie from the 2nd installment take charge and have essentially have the entire megawad return to being essentially all new mappers, hence An_Mutt taking the lead role. Some of us did sign up to be playtesters and I do recall playing some maps early on, but as I guess some others will say, things happen that distract you from the game and unfortunately Nova 3 was the project that kind of got left on the shelf. Luckily Scotty who started on the project as one of the new mappers swooped in and saw this through to a great conclusion. i think Nova 3 is less consistent that Nova 2, it also has bigger and more numerous highs to it and yes the secret maps are really quite something. It was a pleasure to play this in the DWMC a couple of years back. As for Nova 4? It might happen, I may have asked Dobu recently about this subject in private. It would be something I would like to take a supporting role in, especially given that at some point I will probably put the map editor down and want to take a different role in the community. It would be a nice project to be involved in and actually playtest and hopefully allow a new generation of mappers to grow. I guess it is a case of waiting and seeing what happens I guess.
Ive noticed your voicework has gotten calmer and calmer throughout the season and Im scared we might be near the uncanny valley of it. Are you alright?
Good video as always! Glad to hear that you enjoy paul977 maps too. Huge influence for me for sure. The closest we ever got to modern death destiny (And even better in my opinion)
Merry Xmas, @mtpain27 !! This megawad series is surely on my list! Btw, interesting that this time, both secret maps got the Valedictorian! That's a new here!
When you do get to it, all I gotta say is (without spoilers) I'm sure you'll have plenty to say regarding the secret maps. And it continues right where the first Eviternity left off.@@MtPain27
Thanks for the early Christmas gift! Can we have a review of Antaresian Reliquary? With Antares' dehacked weapons and a reprise of Alpha Scorpii Supercluster?
YES. Was wondering if you were going to do this one after the first two. This is the first WAD I've played before you've reviewed it since the show started so I'm excited to see how the grades and difficulty stack up to how I found it.
I played though this WAD not too long ago. P.S. "When you play as much Doom as I do, sparks of originality become more precious than whole maps of clean execution." - This quote rings true in any fandom's works you spend a lot of time in, not just doom.
Merry Christmas, Professor! Much appreciate the present under the tree this year. 🎄📦 🎅🏻 So one thing I noticed: this Nova seems a little more vanilla than the others, as far as things/ators/props go. Wonder if more experienced mappers means more conservative asset usage. You mentioned the absence of Kildeth and Dobu, but another name I missed in this lineup is Cyriak. Curious.
The last segment of Lunatic Dias being a bit messy is probably my fault. I designed the first 60% or so of the map with layout/combat but ended up dropping out without completing it or finishing up the lighting or fine details and I believe Paul finished it up ready for the WAD, probably had to hastily throw something together and scrap the last part of my unfinished work. Shout out to him for finishing it rather than just swapping the map out entirely.
Good review, I haven't played this wad in a while but I do remember it being quite enjoyable. Plus there's that hard to forget mega caco finale. It doesn't always hit the mark but it's undoubtedly a very diverse and creative outing. Whether it's better or worse than NOVA II is an open question. Maybe the most important thing is to see it as part of the whole NOVA series and evaluate it as a piece of a longer story.
I've been waiting for this ep for a long time! Mainly since this is yet another WAD that I've played and forgot almost all of. It's probably the one WAD I've wanted to revisit the most, so this was a nice refresher! The only maps I remember from it after watching this are 8, 15, 31, 32, 19, and 25. I loved map 31 back then, and now knowing it was a Big Ol' Billy map, that makes sense. I didn't start paying attention to his name until City of the Damned children, so I didn't realize he did this map (and also most of Cyb's Freaky Colonoscopy). I've always loved map 32's aesthetic, since I unironically love fireblu. Combat is kinda weird in that one, but it's weird in a very interesting way that always stuck in my mind. And map 25 is my favorite. There's no way anyone can forget that map. Especially when you get outside and see that view. I know I had no clue who made the maps in this WAD when I first played it, but considering how much I loved Struggle, there was no denying this was an Antares map, and man did he deliver. This vid has restarted my desire to revisit this WAD, as most of the maps look really good, and there's mappers who I'm either more aware of now (A2Rob), or already liked and now realize had a map in here (Nanka). Looking forward to the season finale! And I do hope we get an Eviternity II ep sometime soon, as that might be the most high-profile megaWAD release in a while, and boy oh boy is it a good one (speaking of Antrares...).
@@MtPain27 Of course, I'm not saying it belongs more there than in Nova 3. Think of it as more elevated experience of the same map, what with the Antaresias roaming around and the beefed up arsenal.
I actually like calm the fire. Does anyone know of any other good micro maps like that? I've played the 1024 WADs but they're just too cramped and full of peakaboo shooting
4:02 I was *not* expecting to hear “Simple Life” in a Doom WAD. Between this and that one Speed of Doom map having a version of “Midnight Carnival” as its MIDI, I think it’s safe to say that the classic Doom community has some Guilty Gear enjoyers
Man I remember actually making a map for Nova 3 prior to the change of heads, my entry was however very very low quality (it was essentially 2/4 rooms as i kind of intended it at first as being an early map entry for the moon chapter), though i am glad what came out of it at least.
Hello mr dean! happy new year! There's a question i've been wanting to ask until the wad was finished: do you have intention on doing a special episode or a dean episode on Not even remotely fair, aka Nerf? I think it would be interesting to see the metrics of evaluation on maps designed for the nightmare dificulty. Definitely something that we don't see everyday.
Well, you didn't say "see you on the last episode"... so I guess it won't be Sunlust next time unless the choice of words was done intentionally. Great episode though! Can't wait to see what the season finale will bring!
I had a good feeling you would love Map 25. I’d be curious to know what you think of the “final” version of this map Antares included in Antaresian Reliquary, with the custom weapons and monsters.
I made a previous comment on another episode (I think it was either Speed of Doom or Scythe II if I recall right) pointing out that there was actually a Guilty Gear midi in one level of that set, color me surprised when another appeared in Map 3 of Nova 3. Just a fun little note I thought I'd point out for anyone curious. Though I wonder who did the midi, because I haven't been able to find either song after they were midi'fied, Perhaps our resident Dean is a Guilty Gear fan? If so, neat, if not, it really does have some good music I recommend checking out.
Hey MTPain, I was going to send a Super Thanks Comment, but I see you dont have that enabled. Is there a reason for this? Either way, thank you so much for keeping Doom alive!
Finally, the III installment of the NOVA series! Still patiently awaiting the 2-3 year period where we will finally get that proper Dean of Doom review of Sunlust, and that future Eviternity II review is beginning to look like a real snack. Happy Holidays.
Can you please say which maps are a "first published map" of the mappers in the set? Apart from that, thank you, I really needed a good WAD to play next, and you helped me choose.
With this wad, it’s hard to tell if the maps are their respective designers’ first because Nova III developed from 2016 to 2019. I only know Benjogami’s Mare Crisium was his first map because he mentioned it during his An Evening With Nirvana interview.
Hey! Thanks for the review, been waiting for this for like a year, since i saw the season preview :)

The biggest dilemma is gonna be if SIGIL II or Eviternity II will be the season finale
None. It's gonna be NERF.
*puts tinfoil hat on*
It was going to be "Sunlust and thanks for all the fish" but then Eviternity II came out and the plan changed to "OMG, let's end with a Sigil II quickie for now" :)
Well he probably won't cover Eviternity 2 until the final release comes out. So at a minimum, that would be some time in late January at the earliest.
I kinda hope those two would be the start of season 4 and Dean of Doom decides to do a sequel arc like he did in one of his earlier seasons
Matter of fact, if he does a sequel month, he should definitely add Nostalgia 2 as well

Eviternity II and another Dean of Doom episode?! Merry Christmas everyone 🎉

I'm ecstatic! Thanks so much for your kind review of my map, and for giving the Nova Series more views. :D

Thanks, but half of the credit goes to Peter Sinfield, who wrote the King Crimson song I quoted it from :)
@@MtPain27 I thought it sounded like lyrics, but I made the mistake of Googling the first half rather than the second.
Alpha Scorpii Supercluster is such a cool map, and the pairing with Tristan Clark's midi is just icing on an already amazingly delicious cake!!!
You deserve a reward for the Epitaph reference in map24's review. One of my favorite parts of one of my new favorite episodes of the show. Cheers!
If I make it to the end of this season, we can all sit back and laugh, but I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying…

I think I was picturing Suspended in Dusk MAP03, but CC2 27 works too. I much prefer Nova III's 27.
>Muting Wild Guns' first stage music in map 29
Damn, that broke my heart, but I get it.
Glad Scotty and co managed to get this released despite the troubled development cycle
It's the best christmas present ever, a MtPain27 Dean of Doom release
Merry Christmas, and a happy 2024 for you good sir! Glad to see a new Dean of Doom episode during the Christmas period :)
Looking forward to the SIGIL II episode ;)
That one is coming very soon…
Gotta say. I love the passion. its not often i get excited just hearing people speak about something. but i have replayed the part of map 25 soo many times.
Alpha Scorpii Cluster is objectively a top 5 map out of anything that has come out over Dooms 30 years of existence
A big chunk of my 10+ gb Doom WAD folder is due to your recommendation, MtPain.
Last night: Been a while since the dean posted…eh probably just taking a well deserved holiday break.
Wakes up to see a new episode dropped: huh, would you look at that…
A solid end to the year MtPain! Looking forward to the new content coming in 2024!
A MtPain upload to go with my coffee in the morning? Let's go!
Dark Groove from Jazz Jackrabbit will always be 🔥 😁
Epic 2
Good Morning Phobos
Nova 3
Capybara
From the number of wads the midi appears in, I'm inclined to say the community agrees 🙃
merry christmas and happy holidays Professor, hope you're doing well!
I should really get around to tablefilling its max :P
I HAVE to praise your writing for map25, it speaks to your immense talent and often infectious love for this game that map25, a map that I didn't actually enjoy, feels truly like one of the best maps ever made.
Also, it's christmas eve again as of writing this, and no prizes for guessing what I'm playing right now 🥳
OMG, a wad I've wanted you to cover for ages, and you happen to release it on my birthday! Thank you! :D
I can’t account for the tone of my narration: it comes out however it comes out. I promise there is nothing to read into.
27:33 HOLY SHIT! Never expected to hear FraKctured on a Doom map. So good. I love it. It must be impossible.
Nice, a Dean of Doom episode on Xmas!
Good video as always! Glad to hear that you enjoy paul977 maps too. Huge influence for me for sure. The closest we ever got to modern death destiny (And even better in my opinion)
Been anticipating this one for months and it didn't disappoint. My favorite series of WADs.
I often keep forgetting about your love of prog rock, that reference at 27:43 was immaculate.
My Christmas has become better with your video. Thank you!
That MAP32 story reminds me of when I was playing Eviternity for the first time, remarkably MAP15. Love it
Merry Xmas, @mtpain27 !! This megawad series is surely on my list! Btw, interesting that this time, both secret maps got the Valedictorian! That's a new here!
It's been a while since I've seen one of these. Life is busy but I'm happy you're making them still.
18:41 That spoiler timestamp, if a coincidence, was a pretty fantastic one.
I love your show and really want to see Eviternity 2 in it. Is there a chance to see this wad in the future?
Absolutely
When you do get to it, all I gotta say is (without spoilers) I'm sure you'll have plenty to say regarding the secret maps. And it continues right where the first Eviternity left off.@@MtPain27
@@MtPain27 Great, good luck!
Thanks for the early Christmas gift!
Can we have a review of Antaresian Reliquary? With Antares' dehacked weapons and a reprise of Alpha Scorpii Supercluster?
33:15 aw man, why did an amazing El-P track title that's amazing have to be attached to a sub-middling map
SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEETTTT.....I was expecting this one!! Thanks MtPain27
8:23 There’s literally only a single X on your screen right now 😅
Man, took me a while to get to this one. Had to work a bit during the holiday season this year. Happy belated Chrimbus, Pain!
What a Birthday surprise 😀 Dean of Doom and Civvie11 videos to see today. I wish to you, a Merry Christmas Mtpain27 and a Happy new year
YES. Was wondering if you were going to do this one after the first two. This is the first WAD I've played before you've reviewed it since the show started so I'm excited to see how the grades and difficulty stack up to how I found it.
also Merry Christmas Mr Mountain. x
So one thing I noticed: this Nova seems a little more vanilla than the others, as far as things/ators/props go. Wonder if more experienced mappers means more conservative asset usage.
You mentioned the absence of Kildeth and Dobu, but another name I missed in this lineup is Cyriak. Curious.
Cyriak did not found or steer any Nova project to completion
@@MtPain27 No, no, I meant participation in general, not being a project lead.
Merry Christmas Dean!
Well I guess episode 20 is Combat Shock then? Cool stuff, gonna finally play this one now!
Map 25 plays even better in Antaresian Reliquary, but I'm pretty sure you know that already.
I’m not going to play Antaresian Reliquary. Alpha Scorpii will always belong to this wad for me
@@MtPain27 Of course, I'm not saying it belongs more there than in Nova 3. Think of it as more elevated experience of the same map, what with the Antaresias roaming around and the beefed up arsenal.
I actually like calm the fire. Does anyone know of any other good micro maps like that? I've played the 1024 WADs but they're just too cramped and full of peakaboo shooting
I played this wad recently. Glad to see you have too.
Two novas in one season. I love it
New Dean of Doom? A true Christmas miracle!
4:02 I was *not* expecting to hear “Simple Life” in a Doom WAD. Between this and that one Speed of Doom map having a version of “Midnight Carnival” as its MIDI, I think it’s safe to say that the classic Doom community has some Guilty Gear enjoyers
That's not Simple Life, that's the classic "Blue Water, Blue Sky", TOTSUGEKI- I mean, May's old theme from way back then.
@@kumabear5229 my mistake
Man I remember actually making a map for Nova 3 prior to the change of heads, my entry was however very very low quality (it was essentially 2/4 rooms as i kind of intended it at first as being an early map entry for the moon chapter), though i am glad what came out of it at least.
Nice to see that Christmas came early this year.
There is no other youtuber that makes me freak the f*** out when i see a new upload and holy shit its nova 3
Damn i wasn't waiting for Nova III. I think Eternal Doom is so special that might be the last episode of this season. Fine, I'll be waiting...
Well, you didn't say "see you on the last episode"... so I guess it won't be Sunlust next time unless the choice of words was done intentionally.
Great episode though! Can't wait to see what the season finale will bring!
Me patiently waiting for Hellbound like that kid at the bus-stop that doesn't know schools been cancelled.
I had a good feeling you would love Map 25. I’d be curious to know what you think of the “final” version of this map Antares included in Antaresian Reliquary, with the custom weapons and monsters.
Today's my birthday and this is a very good gift to receive!
Happy birthday!
Is my wife's birthday but you've given me the present of uploading a new video!
Did you just make a king crimson reference in map 24
I made a previous comment on another episode (I think it was either Speed of Doom or Scythe II if I recall right) pointing out that there was actually a Guilty Gear midi in one level of that set, color me surprised when another appeared in Map 3 of Nova 3. Just a fun little note I thought I'd point out for anyone curious.
Though I wonder who did the midi, because I haven't been able to find either song after they were midi'fied, Perhaps our resident Dean is a Guilty Gear fan? If so, neat, if not, it really does have some good music I recommend checking out.
10:33 that is a nice reference. grade:A, difficulty:B-.
Loved the Nova series!
We're getting Closer to Sunlust! eh..
Merry Hellmas, Dean.
Babe wake up, new Dean of Doom
Merry Christmas, Dean.
Deep space 9mm is named after an el-p song!!!! I’m a huge el-p fan I jumped when I heard that name
Rewatched this episode and jumped up when i heard the name and was about to comment this again, in other news fantastic damage is 22 years old
Great Video! And congrats on 69 Videos! :D
Hey MTPain, I was going to send a Super Thanks Comment, but I see you dont have that enabled. Is there a reason for this? Either way, thank you so much for keeping Doom alive!
DEAN ON NOVA III? ITS XMASSSSS
Finally, the III installment of the NOVA series! Still patiently awaiting the 2-3 year period where we will finally get that proper Dean of Doom review of Sunlust, and that future Eviternity II review is beginning to look like a real snack. Happy Holidays.
I hope you get a super shotgun for Christmas MtPain ❄️
U ever play endless torture? Pretty good doom 1 wad
Looks like christmas came early this year
