Itachi had to die by the hands of Sasuke for two reasons, to make sure Sasuke believed to the very end that he was a true villain and because even in death he would be killing his big brother that he deep inside had loved, so that he would be able to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan
Man I didn't even notice til the end that I had tears falling down my cheeks, u reminded me of what I felt when I first saw this, Itachi was pure awesome
and he wanted to make sasuke the hero who had avenged the uchiha clan. like god theres so much that made itachi the best character.

Itachi is a paradox personified. He hates war and violence yet had the resolve to murder his entire clan. This is why i love itachi.

At this point, he may have retreated psychologically to the only "comfort" and "stability" that he's nurtured for so long in order to bring sense to it all.... and that's vengeance. Now's it's just a continuation OF that vengeance. 2.) You: " It's really fucked up that Itachi had to go through all of that and put in that position... but is destroying the village really what Itachi would've wanted when Itachi's entire life goal was to protect the village. That's why he did it all..." In the next episode Sasuke will sum that up for you, using Madara's own words from the previous episode... beyond that, see #1.) boi needs heavy heavy therapy ASAP but you know... anime. feel better and sit with your feeling for a bit.

This is why people went from hating Itachi, to loving him. hes a complex character. The only problem is that his fanbase (most of them that have vs debates) can also be toxic.
itachi is one of those character that from the start had a very complicated background story and meaning. a character that we all learn to hate, cried when we acualy got the change to realy know hem (even tho is was to late) and adore until this days. itachi will always be my favorite anime character and his quotes will remind epic and powerful

Is a rumour Itachi sickness was TB because he cough blood. Itachi wasn't even 50% of his former strenght and still was close to defeat Sasuke.
And funny enough ,even then he was holding back against a sasuke that took down orochimaru and deidara.

Hearing cheerful voices from the other end of the corridor, Itachi held his breath. There was a dining table in the fluorescent-lit room. The voices were female, and he knew one of the speakers well. The second voice belonged to her mother.
Itachi kicked the trash can, deliberately making noise.
- What is it? - familiar voice.
- I dont know.
"I'll see," she answered her mother with mild anxiety.
Itachi felt her slow approach. He ran down the corridor, hiding his presence, and hid in the room next to him. He waited for Izumi to pass by and slid over to the dining table. His mother noticed him, but before she could scream, Itachi used his Sharingan to make her faint and lay her down silently.Waited for Izumi's aura to return again.
"Mom, it's just trash…" Izumi Uchiha said, and stopped. "Itachi-kun?"
She looked down at her unconscious mother on the floor and stared at him in a blank daze, not understanding what was going on.
- Why-what...
He could no longer listen to her voice.
Accumulated in the eyes of chakra.
Mangekyou Sharingan.
“Tsukuyomi…”
Izumi froze.
Itachi mentally focused on his own genjutsu.

Izumi retires from shinobi service.
Marriage.
Birth of children.
Child care.
The children are leaving.
Izumi ages along with Itachi.
It's been seventy years since they met.
Their hair is gray.
Izumi disease.
Her sick bed.
He takes care of her.
Her final years...
The Mangekyou Sharingan consumed an enormous amount of chakra and placed a corresponding burden on the user of the technique. Itachi took a deep breath, as if he had just emerged from the depths of the sea. Izumi's knees gave out and she collapsed to the floor, smiling. Itachi slid closer and supported her, grabbing her thin shoulders.
“Thank you.” Her voice sounded like she was already an elderly woman in her eighties.

He tightened his grip on her shoulders, and could not add anything more.
Izumi sighed peacefully for the last time, smiling broadly.
Mind and body are indivisible. If the mind decays, the body also crumbles. Izumi died happy.
He gently lowered her to the floor, motionless. He got up, staggering. From such a powerful loss of chakra, the body trembled.
He decided that Izumi would be the first. Killing her with his own hands, he shook off the last doubts - unfinished business with the clan, the bonds of feelings.

He's trying to prevent them from interrupting it and/or interfering by simply making them waste their time on him. 7:24 One thing to note, because he isn't of the Uchiha bloodline, Kakashi is unable to turn off the Sharingan and thus it continually eats up chakra.
