Dude with the green hat really hit home for me. Lost my mom in 2016 and after 3 years of "being a man" about it, I read a phrase she used to say on accident and broke down. Theres nothing manly about burying your head and avoiding dealing with emotions. Its okay to cry, its okay to let your feelings out.
I did it for 6 years after my grandfather passed. Just drinking and medicating the pain away. It nearly killed me cuz i never dealt with anything from 17-23 and then I had to deal with everything. Please people deal with your problems! Breaking down is okay sometimes

Somehow these communities of weirdos and outcasts are always the most loving and welcoming. Just be yourself, live your life and remember that being 'normal' means living by the norms and values of others, not your own.
Love the message of a lot of the people you interviewed. Depression is universal. You have to feel your feelings. But you also have to start taking action too. There’s nothing better for your depression than watching yourself, you, rise above it and create new things to look forward to. You have to remind yourself you’re capable of changing your entire experience.
You need to love yourself properly. A lot of people aren’t sure how to do that. Start by talking to yourself positively. But don’t give yourself the easy way out of every small difficulty- challenge yourself. Be a loving but tough parent to yourself.
Also talk to people about your issues but don’t forget to be that ear for them too. People need you.

I live in Austin, and I was so worried that this was just going to be a typical “make fun of the weirdos” type of video. But no, it was actually thoughtful and really shows the best parts of the weirdness that is Austin. Thank you for representing this event the way it should be represented. Sure, it’s weird, but it’s also a celebration of overcoming sadness, and that is never a bad thing.
First time viewer. The typical UA-camr would have tried to make this into a cringe "look at the freak show" content. I love how you approach this with warmth, open-mindedness, and great questions about the heart of event which seems to be collectively addressing mental health. I definitely want to visit next year.

My girlfriend and I split up yesterday. I have no friends, I'm back to living by myself being alone at all times with no one to talk to. Seeing this video and everyone opening up in the comments is honestly helping. Love this community, stay strong everyone. We got this.
Edit: for the record, I'm upset I lost my partner and my life is changing, but it's a good thing because she was extremely mentally abusive. I was at a point of attempting suicide rather than break up with her. I was brainwashed, but I'm healing now.

The world is still finding ways to kick me when I'm down. After posting this I found out my grandmother has a cancerous brain tumor. She probably has a week left at this point. Thank you guys for your words, it's been nice to see some support through everything.
Edit: that week turned into one night. She passed this morning.
I was there too. It gets better. Once you're away from her long enough, you start to feel like yourself again..don't be afraid to reach out to friends even if you isolated yourself in that relationship. Hope you're doing good now

I recently got out of a 3 year relationship where I found out I was being cheated on and lied to. I was also 1000+ miles away from home with no support, and had to move back home on a same day notice. It has been 3 weeks since the incident. Some days are easier, some days are harder. It just comes in waves. Even though what happened was not my fault and out of my control, I can't help but to feel to be blamed in some way. Like could I have done more? Did I not play my cards right somewhere? I was just not enough? Am I boring?, all these questions flood my mind from time to time. It has been a very hard and big change in my life. I have cried what I can, and at this point I just feel numb and confused. I appreciate your videos Brandon, this one felt like it was close to home. It was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves and expressing how they deal with depression and bad times. Love you man, it has been awesome seeing you grow as a creator.

I’m sorry to hear about you getting cheated on. while i do think its good to evaluate your role in the relationship, you have to let go of what happened, as difficult as that is to do so soon. You’ll never understand someone’s decision to betray you, you can blame yourself or ask a million questions but it will bring you nothing but pain. it was your significant others decision to be selfish and throw away what you had, now you need to be selfish. Go into no contact mode, block them on everything and get rid of everything that reminds you of them. Dont allow yourself the ability to have hope in regards to the relationship. whats done is done. You now have more time and money to improve yourself, as well as emotional motivation to do so. no contact helped me get over my ex after many months of being devastated about it. Also my papa once told me something that really stuck with me after i had been cheated on, he said Good riddance and thank god you found out now, imagine if this happened years down the line when you had a dog together, were married, had a home together, or even kids. you’d be forever connected to the person who betrayed you. be thankful it happened when it did! You could’ve wasted a lot more time with that person. Stay positive my friend, plenty of people would never do that to you ❤

Lost my younger brother almost two years ago now. He struggled for a long time with drug addiction and eventually it just caught up to him. Definitely been going through it. Your recent videos like the Vegas underground and videos like this have helped a lot. Hope you’re doing good too man. hope Zilla is doing well too. miss him being in your videos.
We all feel like Eeyore every once and a while, then a Brandon Buckingham video comes along :) Good stuff man, this video has feel good energy
Man i usually hate it when people go overboard with "this is such important content, this impacted me personally" etc regarding youtube videos. but hearing so many different strangers casually discuss their coping strategies and acknowledging the reality of depression was helpful and necessary for me to hear right now
My mother "moved on" in February, this year. My biggest fear, all my life, and by far the worst day of my life. It gave me understanding of life, beyond what I imagined possible though. It never felt like she left, only grew closer to me, giving me strength and energy in the times I need it most. Through the most painful moment of my life, I learned and gained and grew more than I have, in my entire life. Imagine the person that loves you more than anything and anyone in this world, becomes your guardian angel. I miss seeing her with my eyes, but I know she sees and hears everything I'm doing and saying. Now she doesn't have any worries and I can feel her in my heart.
Dont get me wrong, again, this has been the most difficult time of my life, but a lot of it hasnt even to do with the "loss" of my mother, but more of how other people have taken it/changed up.
Dont know why Im even writing all of this, but this video just felt needed in ways. I appreciate you going into the mental health side of things. Its important and too many people fear speaking on the subjects that must be spoken. This is how change is made.

i got two different translators in japan and still had a hard time effectively communicating with the people over there. I tried my best at getting content over there but interviews were difficult to do
@@BrandonBuckingham That really sucks. I don't know if it'll help but I have inlaws and family over at Japan. I normally go once a year. I only speak English, so my Wife and Cousins translate for me all the time when I'm interacting in Japan (Helpful when you do the bar scene). So if you ever decide to do it again, hit me up if you can't find anyone.
