    My Nihon Buyo teacher is Madame Fujima Kansuma. She was a student of Rokudaime Onoe Kikugoro during her childhood and performed kabuki buyo in the Japanese interment camps. She performed Kagamijishi with the White Shishi wig from him.

    I love how you put more recent music on the older footage!

    What a charming video! It is so lovely to see some of such great dancers - and to think, performing at this level into your 70s! And you did a fantastic job with the silent Kasane clip, synching the appropriate music so well that the shamisen players are on synch as well. I'd certainly love to see more dance and thank you for the tremendous amount of time and work you put into this video.

    For the next video, could you make a list including these actors:
    * Nakamura Utaemon VI
    * Onoe Kikugorō VII
    * Nakamura Baigyoku IV
    * Kataoka Nizaemon XV
    * Bandō Tamasaburō V
    * Ichikawa Ennosuke III (Ichikawa En'ō II)
    Leaving a little off topic here, but continuing with Kabuki, do you know anything about the controversy surrounding the Tokyo National Theater? I was watching the press conference about the case and one of those who was speaking at that press conference was Nakamura Tokizō V. Brother, I'll tell you something: I've been following Tokizō V for a long time and he's known in Kabuki for being one of the kindest and smiling guys and at that conference he was more serious and upset than usual. And at that conference about this case there were him and 8 other artists (some of whom are even Living National Treasures), so I ask: what the hell is going on? Because it was the first time I saw Tokizō V with a more serious expression than usual (not even when he teaches roles does he stay at this level of seriousness) and the first time I saw him upset like that...

      It seems that, after all the bids for the reconstruction of the National Theatre failed, it is now uncertain when, and if the theatre will be rebuilt at all, which would have a terrible impact for the traditional performing arts. It is definitely a very serious situation, not so much for the current generation but for the next ones, so it is great that such a large group of prestigious artists come together to bring attention to the issue publicly. Let's now hope that their voices are heard, and that the reconstruction project goes forward!
