Eobard still steals the identity of Harrison Wells, He still makes the Particle Accelerator explode. The only difference is apperantly he disclosed his true identity to team Flash afterwards. It makes sense he is wearing the face of Harrison Wells because otherwise timeline would've erased him the moment he killed Barry as a child.

The answer from Thawne was:"Time travel is hard to explain" or something like that. It more makes sense, if some of time remnants of Thawne figured out that something wrong with Timeline. There is only 2 explanations, Crisis X Thawne is Thawne from season 1(it doesn't make sense, because he lost his speed and permanently erased) or he took one of Harrison Wells's face, still wrong, because he take Wells's face due to his plan. Simple answer is this: "Its much cheapier to take Cavanaugh and using him as other Wellses and Thawne".

Not really, all Thawne ever wanted was to be The Flash but his powers revealed that he was meant to be The Reverse Flash, so he use the ultimate uno card to reverse the story. In a way, Thawn got what he ever truly wanted.

As evil as Eobard's plan is, when you think about it it's also kinda sad. Despite how much he hates Barry, deep down more than anything Eobard still admires the Flash. He said in The Flash 2x11 "I was obsessed with you. For so long I wanted to be the Flash" and in recent comics he said that ruining Barry's life was honestly the best way he could think of to get Barry to spend time with him and give him attention. Thawne may be evil, but more than anything he's just a sad man who wishes more than anything to be able to spend time with his idol and be like him. And this scene proves that no matter how deep Eobard's hatred is for Barry, he still wants to be just like his idol, it's just the fact that when he learned of his destiny to be the Reverse Flash he couldn't handle it so it drove him to villainy.

I always knew Thawn was pure evil but he found a way to take the term to a whole new level. He took everyone and everything from Barry and tried to erase him from history in the process. I really want to see just HOW this timeline happened. I mean, Thawne is not a bad looking dude, but I feel like the age gap between him and Iris might make a few people go "hmm," least of all Joe. Then again, Thawne loves just wiping loose ends and annoyances from existence in his own timeline, so other people probably wouldn't be a factor.

same. season 1 and two were amazing. three and four were ok. i cant even remember much of the other seasons. and decided to not watch this one. but after this I am considering getting back into it.

season 1 best season
eason 2 kinda has trouble with the whole "repeating traitor among the team" but still has its solid points
season 3 is kinda boring but dear goodness it has the best season finale (if you combine the last 2 episodes into 1). and it kinda improves once it has a clear arc (savitar will kill iris at this date), even if it frustratingly drags the reveal of who savitar is
season 4 has an entertaining first half even if it kinda goes downhill once the "trial of barry allen" arc gets resolved
season 5 is slow on first half but once it is revealed thawne is involved with nora, it picks up a little
season 6's frist half is good, with its best episode being the last temptation of barry allen part 1, but second half is painful because, is like the show has no idea what to do now that "flash vanishes missing in crisis" plot point has been resolved
season 7 i haven't seen it, but from spoilers I saw, it really has no idea what it was trying to do and kinda was trying to throw anything to the wall to see what would stick with poorly received results

Did someone notice that it was a subtle nod to what Thawne tried to do in the comics?
He once tried to take Barry's place and being struck by the lightning that gave the Flash his powers.
Problem? He started to be erased from existence because of his status being dependant upon Barry's, so he instead ran from his lab and failed.
In short, Armageddon showed us what if Thawne succeded what he failed to do in the comics.

The 1st one was just to go home, The 2nd one was to escape iron heights, And now he went this far just become the Flash. He also basically led s5 Nora to erase herself from the timeline to escape his death sentence
I haven't watched the Flash in years but lm hoping this is the eye opener Barry needs to finally cut Thawne off. Even if he somehow comes back. At least it will delay the problems he has caused.

There was so many “it was me Barry” moments this episode
Only problem with this whole idea is that thawne would be weak as fuck. Barry's speed force thrives off positive emotions such as love. Thawne only feels bitter hatred so he'd be even slower than Barry in season 1.Barry doesn't hate many people but he hates Thawne meaning it would be easy to wipe him.

Nah not exactly. You can get faster with the regular speed force so and there's ways of boosting it so his idea is actually pretty sound the writer's actually have solid idea here.
But Thawne has had the normal speed force before switching over to the negative one.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. We saw in the Elseworlds crossover that Barry has loads of repressed anger he can draw on. But Eobard doesn’t have many positive emotions.
Then again, Barry at 5% and working with the Negative Speed Force was still faster than Eobard this whole episode.
When you realize that this is technically the second Reverse-Flashpoint and we've been living in the first the whole time.
I dropped off mid season 4, but man when they've got Tom Cavanaugh as RF he really brings this show to another level.
Honestly, this is what Thawne should have done back in season 1. Would have saved so much trouble.
@MostaVerse Creating a new timeline with new events and things in the future. Since this timeline’s Flash created the still force, he was able to go back in time using the negative still force and make those major changes to the timeline to defeat The Flash without making the same mistake he did back in season one- getting stuck in the past.

The flash has been on a decline for so many seasons but l have to admit this armageddon thing is kinda interesting. Eobard Thawne finally got everything he wanted. He literally became the Flash. While Barry is losing everything he ever had. The consequences of letting Thawne lived has finally caught up to him. I know the Flash doesn't kill but lm hoping this is an eye opener to Barry that sometimes, you just have to make exceptions.
The Flash is one of the heroes who don’t make exceptions for anyone, like Batman or Superman. It’s understandable, because once they cross the line once, they find excuses to do it again and again, till they’re no better than the people they fight. It’s infuriating, but understandable too
This has just got to be one of the best scenes in the episode

I love how sadistic and obsessed Thawne is. He admires and loves the Flash so much, but he hates him for such a petty reason too, so while he won’t kill Barry outright, he dedicates his life to make Barry’s a living hell. He’s sadistic and psychotic, but he’s also a genuine fanboy who, at his core, wants to spend as much time with the Flash as possible, even if it’s them fighting. Everything he is is because of the Flash, and he created him. He’s one of the most sadistic villains on the show with no human relationships that are positive, unlike villains like Damien Darkh and Malcolm Merlin, who genuinely love their families and daughters, even if they’re sociopaths and mass murders.

Season 8 actually looks promising might start watching it again. Shame we’ll never get to see Eobards real face again anytime soon until probably the final season and when they’re finally able to get Matt back.
So far season 8 has been better than season 4,5,6, and 7 combined

@@dro634 pacing was really weird because of Covid. Cast were almost never together and makes you wonder where certain character were when they would be super useful if they were present.
They just don't want to pay for the actor. The actor has publicly stated that he wants to come back to reprise his role. However, he's too expensive for the show's budget so they just re-use Tom Cavanaugh because it's cheaper.

I have to applaud Thawne for coming up with a Reverse Flashpoint. It really takes his earlier line home of being the only person who can manipulate the timeline to get what he wants. Even more so for getting the idea from Barry's haphazard attempt in season 3, only to refine it now. And what he achieves is his genuine dream world. A world where he not only becomes the Flash, but he also tortures Barry by taking everything he holds dear. The top two things Thawne has always wanted. The idea for this plotline was genius.
