When I put this video on mute. It looks like I’m watching the real thing. That’s how good he did with the the engine selection, prop selection, weight ratio, etc. Perfect Job!
I had a 9ft wing span I thought was big and I loved it but your beast is absolutely wonderful A great plane to watch fly no acrobatics no speed just pure enjoyment thank you
Beautiful plane, almost too big, in scale. It flies like the real thing! The prop doe's seem a little too small, but, this plane is old in design, and was meant to be low, and slow, and be very reliable. The original engine, only made 45-67 horsepower.
Beautiful and I haven't even mentioned your airplane. So perfect it does throw one off a bit about the engine sound and prop size as one easily imagines the real thing. Hey, I'm so envious of your club facilities, your aircraft and pilot skills. Everything rates an A+ in my opinion.
A larger prop might not help unless the engine RPMs were lower. Too much speed and length, and the prop tips could go super sonic, or at least be over stressed.
I have a J-3 with a 100 horse, dual wing tanks, Alaskan Bush belly pod with 29 inch tundra tires. I wish I had a photo of the two side by side. Love the sound. Just needs a belly pod now.
I did click "like" for this video. Loved the plane, piloting, the scale flying and all. Just wondering like previous posters, why a larger, slower spinning prop was not used. Would have delivered a more realistic over-all presentation. As it was, the engine sounded like a screaming WWII fighter rather than the 65 horsepower Continental of the Cub. It did look like a Clipped Wing Cub, though and those used a little bigger engine. Just a little constructive criticism, easy to correct with a motor/prop swap, and not meant to demean a beautiful plane and the great skill that went into building it.
Beautiful my Grandfather had a real one in chihuahua Mexico, my Father flew solo at 15 years of age in 1949 my uncle was older and los a wheel on a church bell tower, cause he was showing off drunk to his girlfriend and landed with one wheel and the tail dragger, he servied, and later in life bought a Cessna ?126? I think.
Wow great rc plane! It's weird though I've seen a 3/4 cub ultralight that is only ever so slightly bigger than this but fits a pilot inside. I guess rc and manned aircraft are two different worlds but cool when they cross over
Great semi real plane however I wonder...you invest 3 to 4 grands in an engine that you mount on a Cub? What does a cub do? Take off, go around, then around, then around again, phew...landing!
A great accomplishment, very nice, that's how an RC airee should sound and fly! My question would be about the span, why the shortened wings? Also the airfoil seems a lot thicker in section than that of the scale bird and most RC Cubs too, I realize the fatter wing gives good STOL performance and lowers the stall speed but shortening the wing is supposed o do the opposite and give a better roll rate? the tundra tyres seem to slow her down massively and that coupled with the tiny prop and she seems a real dog in the air..comments?
Beautiful Cub! Well done! I have a 1946 Full Scale J-3 Cub and wouldn't take nothing in the world for it. What motor are you running in this plane? And what's the weight? Thanks & GOD BLESS!
This is a very beatiful Model, I congratulate you to fly so a big Plane. I´m also a Modelplane Pilot and my biggest Plane has got a Wingspan 5 Feet. I think the Model looks like very fine, but the only thing is what I dont like is. There is a two Stroke Motor in this Plane, and in the real Plane is build in a 4 Stroke Motor. I know 4 Stroke Motors are very expensive for this size from the Plane.
Nice flying luv the kin great balloon tyres would be nice if you could run a prop reduction and use a bigger prop for scale appearance but all in all a nice plane.
Amazing !:-) Only two things killed the illusion for being real & that was the non scale prop & it had no driver, shame as otherwise you couldn't tell. Scale speed was about right :-)
You would think that with this level of sophistication ... electric start ... they would have some muffler technology as well. That damned thing was loud even in the air.
+Harpo Marx The engine isn't what is making the high pitch sound, it's the propeller that is "ripping". Beutiful model though, but it could rather need a reduction gearbox and a scale size prop, that would counter the issues with prop noise as well.
For a pylon racer - no a Cub. That sounded spastic! Not scale at all. Going THIS BIG, means getting everything right, not just some stuff. And what is with that "Heath Robinson" start-up procedure? That did not look professional at all!
That's a given Adam. Look at the rest of the comments. Many said pro looks too small. Also acouplesaid engine running too fast, sounds too small. Matching engine to weight/size is sverything.
That landing could not have been any better! Perfect, and great job with the plane!

Nice looks like a clipped wing Cub, That sound is amazing!
It takes off, flys & lands like a cub should.
A three point would be like it should

Damn! Sounds and looks like a full-scale plane! impressive!
Excellent film footage and sound.
It's just me, but it looks like the prop is too small.
A larger prop might not help unless the engine RPMs were lower. Too much speed and length, and the prop tips could go super sonic, or at least be over stressed.
Thanks.
Tiny engines spin fast. The prop blade tips have to remain sub-sonic. It certainly does look weird.
High revving 2-stroke. Should have use 4-stroke with the proper scale
prop.
Howard Johnson i
Love it...!!! At this size they start handling more like a real plane than a twitchy rc model. Would love to know what it feels like to fly it!
Motor and prop too small but some of the best piloting skills and landing I think I ever saw!
Yes i do
I have a J-3 with a 100 horse, dual wing tanks, Alaskan Bush belly pod with 29 inch tundra tires. I wish I had a photo of the two side by side.
Love the sound. Just needs a belly pod now.
That Propeller Looks RIDICULOUS.
It's a model not the real thing and it flies perfectly. The owner obviously knows what he is doing.
great model . And it moves very realistic because it is so large ! Well done !
Very nice plane and well flown, for water operations how about a two thirds Martin Mars!!! 😊.
Flies very nice, slow and fun.
Very nice looking and it looks like it flys pretty good too.
Man that Cub is a MONSTER! Sweet Video!
best cub i have seen, props seems a little small i assume cause its direct drive with higher rpm ?
Wow, great flying and a very cool Cub. I am surprised though, that you did not have flaps and a water rudder.
Handling characteristics come close full scale, great vid.

MUY HERMOSO EL PIPER CUB.
LES MANDO UN GRAN SALUDO DESDE ARGENTINA .
Lovely video, lovely field, lovely club profile! Thank you!
With a huge scale model like that you'd think he would have sprung for a nicer sounding engine like a multi-cylinder four stroke.
Beautifully flown - and landed. Nice! 👍
Well he loves it and it gives him a lot of fun. It drew u to watch it. So it's a drawcard.
just put a seat and controls in it and a 10 year old could fly it ! :)
Sound is not to bad, nice bush plane anyway.
I admire your workmanship! nice plane.
Excellent.. Always loved the cub
Hey love the tundra tires!!!!!!
Cubs fly better with a slightly smaller prop in my opinion.
I think he knows what he's doing .....
I think the prop is a bit small. maybe not scale but for weight/drag . you don't fly around at full throttle in a scale cub either
This would be very fun to fly! And a little scary, but fun!
I’ve been there and seen that and yes it’s under prop.
Holy cow those tires!!!! What is that a monster plane!!
Reminded me of the full scale mini cub ultralight
I thought the Title said "Electric Smart Cub"
Nice model nonetheless!
Very cool. What a large Piper Cub. Liked and subscribed.
Very nicely flown, excelent

why not just build a full scale?
He owns a full size cub and he is a pilot.
I think a 1 1/3 38ft wingspan should be next.
building a full scale aircraft to fly in it comes with a whole lot of additional trouble and regulations.
Amazing. Sounds great! Awesome job.
Beautiful Cub! Well done! I have a 1946 Full Scale J-3 Cub and wouldn't take nothing in the world for it.
What motor are you running in this plane? And what's the weight?
Thanks & GOD BLESS!
my question: How would it handle with a larger prop? .....the one it has looks to small in size.
Prop tips must remain sub-sonic. An engine that size is very high RPM. To sling a big prop he'd have to use complex and heavy gear reduction.
Yes, I think so
That is one beautiful cub, was it a scratch build or did you have a set of plans?
Now that's a mini cub,love it,thanks for sharing!
Absolutely beautiful field!
no expert either, but the prop looks like it could be a bit bigger ....... would the engine be able to power a larger prop?
Great plane man! simply perfect. great job.

Thank you ,made my day!
Very incredible build. Thanks
TOP, BUT SMALL propeller
almost takes a person
Cool cub ,how long did it take to build , what engine did it take ?
Nice looking plane.
That's bad ass!! Nice J3!
Very nice plane looks like it fly's good I bet It drinks the fuel but very cool plane good landing
It this is true to scale, is it the clipped wing version? Would be great doing slow aerobatics. Nice job and flying.
Yea I think that prop is to short .
But I don't get why you didn't spend another NICKEL and Fly it from INSIDE.
Gee BUT IT SURE
SOUNDS GREAT
Dam that thing is beautiful!!!!
Great job, building and flying (very Scale). Needs a pilot though.
Looks like a mad donalds toy with those clipped wings!
Nice flying luv the kin great balloon tyres would be nice if you could run a prop reduction and use a bigger prop for scale appearance but all in all a nice plane.
Okay Carmium. I didnt know that, but now i understand :) Thanks.
Does the FAA get involved when they are this large?
Very nice!!!!!!
That's a nice field
Espectacular muy bueno 😎👍

I love the sound
Did you build that or buy a kit. if you bought a kit tell me where you bought it at
Great way to give your 3yo an 'airplane ride'.
Amazing stuff!!!!!!!!!!
Nice job!
I really enjoyed watching this. Love cubs and really loved the bush wheels! Will it do 3 point landings? or does the elevator stall before the wing?
Absolutely incredible build!!
K yup that's BIG !!!
I bet a child could fly in this thing! 😎
Flying Monkey absolutely I don't doubt that a second But well haha Not exactly goona pass aviation safety for that HAHAHA
RC Planes yeah, and all of the angry moms. : )
Nice video thanks
Weight? And commenters should check the comments to see if their point has already been made.
nice video...makes my 1/4 scale piper look like a model ...lol
he has a real one.
Excellent!
Awesome sound

Very nice.
Prop looks a little small but fly’s realistically!
Is the wingspan scale? It looks like they might be clipped a bit?
Be nice to have a rotating camera inside the cab .
nice landing. But small taidraggers do not land like this. It should touch groung with all three wheels at once.
Who else feels like a small child could fit in this?
MY GOD...........WHAT A BIG ONE
if you ever sold the plane then how much would you sell it for
That's a given Adam. Look at the rest of the comments. Many said pro looks too small. Also acouplesaid engine running too fast, sounds too small. Matching engine to weight/size is sverything.
Check out my latest video of me flying my Cub with cockpit footage. 😀👍🏼
Hello. Excelent. ¿wath engine cc?
This thing is so large that a small kid pilot could actually fit inside.
The prop looked a tad too small though.
@sac78008 I think it is a clipped wing cub..
I never get planes like this. If you are going to go to the effort and expense of building a plane this large why not just build a real one?
Those big, bulgy, beautiful wheels....
