Bordeaux is impressive. 45 points with 4 denied tries in the first half!
Two of those had to be denied for clear faults. One of them was 100% right and the last one could be debated.

That was a demonstration of French club rugby at its best, against one of the best teams in the English Premiership.
Wish these highlights included the disallowed tries and more than one view of each try.

Ils s’en sont pris 55 en poules contre Bordeaux aussi. C’est ce qui me fait penser que Bordeaux peut aller au bout ou en final (La Rochelle 2021, on voyait l’équipe bien tourner mais on imaginait pas une finale, perdue contre Toulouse)

Bordeaux attack coach is Noel McNamara, came through the Irish system. He basically has Bordeaux attacking similar to Leinster and Ireland but just with world class athletes. It’s frightening

Irish lads were unable to complete a grand slam in a poor level competition year and almost came close to win it all by osing 2 games, which is is unimpressive considering everything is done for the team to win. Mind that is the only team sport Ireland can compete at, not counting netball and hurling, that is an unfair Celtic advantage at weird sports.
Irish clubs/provinces will have to contend with La Rochelle who seems to enjoy torturing them year in and year out.
UBB will have its say if it can handle Harlequins.

Tremendous performance from Bordeaux as for Saracens they don't have the depth they used to while there are some players past their best and others that aren't ready yet hence the result. For Saracens read English club rugby in general, we have talent however it isn't deep enough under the current salary cap to beat the best teams in Europe, we would have to almagamate the best players into less teams if we want to be successful in European competition.
Where's the jeopardy in last 16 teams routinely playing against sides they had already convincingly despatched in the group stage?

Nope about 4-5 players past their prime and a changing of the guard. Next season we have recruited well, so it will take a couple of seasons to be back to our best in Europe. Saying that the French teams have no salary cap so it will be a French team or Leinster winning it for quite a few years to come I reckon.

There has been a salary cap in France since 2010. For the 2023/2024 season and until 2026/2027, it amounts to 10.7 million euros per Top 14 team.
