- The Hi-Lo's formed in 1953. The original line-up was Clark Burroughs (tenor), Bob Strasen (baritone), Bob Morse (baritone) and group organizer Gene Puerling (bass-baritone), who also wrote many of the vocal arrangements. The album "And All That Jazz" was released in 1958, with instrumental accompaniment provided by the Marty Paich Dek-Tette. The song Something's Coming was written by Leonard Bernstein (music) and Stephen Sondheim (lyrics) for the musical West Side Story, which opened on Broadway in 1957.
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 73yo Aussie fan.
Clark - I was at Georgia Tech when you guys came and gave a concert for us in the late 50's. I was "hooked" on the Hi-Lo's from then on. And getting to sing with you in Randy's choir was a wonderful thrill for me. Hope all is well with you, my friend....
Awesome as always, the incomparable Hi-Lo's, So sad my boyhood heroes, all gone now. :( Funny thing Mel Torme who did a lot of work with Marty Paich Tentet also loved vocal harmony.
No, no. Mr. Clark Burroughs still with us. Sorry Clark. Please stay.
Love the sound
On top of my comment from ten years ago.
Brilliant!!!!! Gene Puerling creative genius and the guys perfect execution
Thanks so much to whomever posted this album as it brought back many great memories of my father who loved this album and as a child, help me understand how great Jazz vocals and harmonies could be expressed by such a great vocal group-- What a GREAT album!!
Simply splendid.
Excelente grupo vocal, assim como meu favorito The Four Freshman.
