Absolutely. I visited numerous countries (incl China and Cuba) during Dubya's presidency and everyone was wonderfully nice to me on a personal level, but many shared their problems with US leaders. They explained, very clearly, the same notion you shared: there's a huge distinction between the people of a country and that country's leaders. People are friends, governments are not given the benefit of the doubt for obvious reasons.
A little remark abot the bridge is that its called 'Troitsky' not 'Trotsky', and got its name because of the 'Troitsky Sqare' which is connected to. And the world ''Troitsky' translates as 'Three' or 'in the name of the Three' and it comes from the christianity the Three Holy Hierarchs - Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, John Chrysostom.

Seeing a lot of angry comments about regular Russian citizens trying to live their lives. Really takes me back to the aftermath of 9/11 when everyone wearing a turban was seen as a threat or an object of ridicule in America. It's amazing how people change when the war drums start beating.
There is no discrimination against Russians in the US and you cannot find a single comment about "regular Russians citizens trying to live their lives". " It's amazing how people change when the war drums start beating" Say that to Russians who were currently invading another country and imprisoning political opponents by the thousands

When The Corporations selling tobacco products saw the end of that market drawing near, they re-invested into Food Products, and used the same techniques to create addictions, and increase sales. Seed Oils are for running machinery, not for human ingestion.

17:24 A couple of the Chinese tourists there were apparently impressed that you said "nĭmenhăo" instead of "nǐhǎo"😆 Wherever in the world, being able to speak Chinese well is really a big buff to a person of -New York ethnicity- 🤣 European ancestry
When I talk to a Haitian I don't ask him what his origins are, I don't tell him being Haitian is not an ethnicity, should he answer me my ancestors came from Africa 500 years ago.? Haiti like America has its own culture and history, its music etc. It's time to turn the page. I am Canadian and when people say to me "ok but where are you really from" it insults me. After 300 years I think I can say that I am just Canadian.
@@balbutie As a Chinese who lived in the UK for more than 15 years, I fully understand what you said and I also understand why the OP says "New York"--for the same reason you have mentioned. As you said it, you, and probably the the OP as well, have been living in your continent for more than 300 years and 300 years is long enough to develop rich history and culture of your own. Your father lives there. Your father's father lived there. North America is your home and your ancestors home. You are ORIGINALLY from North America. When some people asks you "where are you really from" it may have an implied meaning that you are "settlers", which really offends to many white Americans. Also, in today's western world, racial equality is so much advocated. In this discourse, asking for a person's ethnicity can sometimes be offending. Example, a colleague of mine, who is black, use to teach English in China and he said he was often asked by his students which country he is from, and when he answered UK/London the Chinese students were sometimes dissatisfied and asked "where are you really from" or "where are you originally from". I guess in most of Europe and North America, people wouldn't ask him "where are you originally from" after he said he is from the UK. And besides, when that Russian auntie asked the OP what ethnicity he is, she is actually expecting an answer like "Anglo-Saxon", "Dutch" or "Irish", which is rather impossible for a white American to provide an answer, because the European ancestry of many (if not most) Americans are so "mixed" that it’s difficult to trace it back to just one country. I quoted -New York ethnicity- here just for fun, not meaning that I think there is anything wrong with OP's answer of "New York".
@balbutie No, you can’t :D because for whole rest world exist real Canadians and all rest - invaders :) I’m not trying to offend you, in my mind it is something natural. Exist natives and some _temporary_ invaders. I don’t know why I perceive this in such way, but as is. And when I discussed about this with other people, all also perceived you in such way. For us you are non real, just our emigrants (in most cases who made something awful at home and just ran away; as example most of criminals from WW2 who ran away from court to Canada).
@@huangwu2563that’s a good background. in Russia it’s entirely normal for a person to list their ancestry to you to you if you ask somebody what they are, and people are rarely offended. Same lady would probably say she was part Finnish/Jewish/German/Ukrainian and not feel weird about it…

Wherever in the world, being able to speak Chinese well is really a big buff to a person of -New York ethnicity- 🤣 European ancestry
@balbutie
No, you can’t :D because for whole rest world exist real Canadians and all rest - invaders :) I’m not trying to offend you, in my mind it is something natural.
@@balbutie how can you be such a sissy as a man to be hurt over someone asking your ethnic background… lol
@@huangwu2563that’s a good background. in Russia it’s entirely normal for a person to list their ancestry to you to you if you ask somebody what they are, and people are rarely offended.

2. Pro tip: Bring some U.S. dollars and exchange them at local banks once you're in Russia. You'll usually get a better deal that way.
3. Or if you're tech-savvy, crypto can be a great option too!
Feel free to reach out if any of yall have questions! Happy top help!!!
Fast becoming one of my favorite channels! Travel well my man!
I hope things get better - very diplomatic, Tommy.
These are hero cities, not cities that were the most important. These are cities that had the most heroic resistance to the fascists, examples of mass heroism of people.
Resistance to the fascists ? Russia is currently a fascistic state, the USSR was a fascistic state and the Russian empire was a fascistic.
Russia has never not been a fascist state
@@ni9274Ничего более тупого я еще не читал . Что должно быть в твоей промытой голове, трудно себе даже представить 🤦🏻

Great video as always Tommy. Thank you for doing what you wanted to do! Many of us respect you for it.
Love that these videos tear down all conceptions and just reflects a human experience. The Earth is sooo beautiful.
One of your best videos considering the circumstances.
You got extremely lucky with the weather :) Usually, St Petersburg is known for very gloomy northern weather.
@radicalautism5696, всем петербуржцам повезло в этом году с погодой. Я даже вижу почки на деревьях сейчас😳😁
You are friggin' ballsy mang, right on! It's videos like this that change the world -
Some of the best content on the internet. Thank you!
Tommy, you are a blessing to the world
I enjoyed this a lot. Thank you, well done.
Dude, this is the most awesome city I have ever seen, period!! I am thankful you shared this with us!!
i just love how you keep pushing through borders (literally) and glad you made it there. its always good to see ppl's real perspective instead of the media telling us whos right or wrong. always love your content Tommy. One of my many fave travel vloggers! you deliver!!!!
Estonians are quite Finnish in their culture!
Go to Bucha, just north of Kyiv, and speak to the locals and you’ll find out who is wrong.
Мост в честь Троцкого, а бухаем в честь Бухарина! И мавзолей Леннона! 💯
A most unique round the world trip for an American. You are awesome!
I'm not an angry American here. I watch several Russian content creators. People want the same things everywhere. Governments are far different from people who may eat other things, but all want a peaceful life, the ability to care for their families, and enough to live comfortably.

That’s why I love Europe you can be in 3 different countries in 2 days
Khalingrad is separated from the rest of Russia!
you can be in 3 countries in 10 seconds
today I was in 3 countries in few hours xD
ruzzia is not Europe

How come every foreign blogger goes to russia via a bus through estonia or kaliningrad, like isn't it much easier to get a flight from Turkey? That's what I've always done
Transit flights are carried out from 20 capitals of the world to Moscow and other cities, it's just considered the cheapest way to get to my country
That would be my thinking to go via turkey
@@Spaceman719 Transit through Istanbul is relatively expensive
@@artemprudnikov5693 China maybe?
@@Spaceman719 There are transit flights from Beijing, Tashkent, Dubai, Baku, Yerevan, Havana and other capitals, if I understood you correctly
When the leaders of UK, USA and EU talk about Russia being ‘evil’… I think they are simply jealous, because it looks wonderful, beautiful healthy people, natives to their lands, no 3rd world chaos and mess, how heavenly.
Ask a gopnik
Exactly! They don’t have the 3rd world chaos the west has imported. This is why Russia is safe
No mess? How about invading neighbouring countries like Ukraine, Georgia or Chechnya or beating LGBT and other minorities' rights or any opposition or fair elections?
@@sgtmayhem What gopniks? It's all left in the 90s and maybe in some very poor small towns, villages. In most cities, no one has used that word for a long time.
Lol, “beatutiful” is a term that can only be used for centres of Moscow and St.Petersburgh. Go to other places, pick a random smaller or midsize town or village and all you’ll see is unpaved road, mud, wooden shacks and alcoholism.
My father was in Russia with the German army during WW2. He loved Russia and always wanted to return for a vacation but never had the chance. He even named his dog Gorby.
lol
Exploring the world with Tommy, learning a lot!
Wishing you safe and happy travels! Moscow looks wonderful as always.
Love your content old mate, been watching for years. When are you coming to my country (Australia)?
