Anat Cohen is an Israeli jazz clarinetist, saxophonist and bandleader.
Cohen went to the United States in 1996. Her debut album, Place & Time, was released in 2005 on Anzic Records. In 2007 she won the awards for "Up and Coming Artist and Clarinetist of the Year" from the Jazz Journalists Association.[1] She was also voted Clarinetist of the Year in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 and honored as the inaugural "Multi-Reedist of The Year" in 2012. She has received multiple citations in Down Beat magazine's annual critics and readers polls in multiple categories including top rankings for "Rising Star" and "Clarinet". Cohen performs regularly and has appeared at a number of notable jazz festivals, including the Newport Jazz Festival, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Tudo É Jazz Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival.[2] She has developed a notable work of research about Brazilian music, especially the Choro. Known at first for her accomplishments on the saxophone, she has recently focused on the clarinet, which is featured exclusively on her record Clarinetwork (with Benny Green, Peter Washington, and Lewis Nash). Her latest record "Claroscuro" features Jason Linder, Joe Martin and Daniel Freedman.
Her brother, Avishai Cohen, is a jazz trumpet player (not to be confused with the bass player of the same name).
Everything that Anat does becomes
A MASTERPIECE !!
Jazz e Choro
Choro e Jazz
Esta luminosa Anat indica o caminho...
...ja era hora!
I love everything Anat plays. Simple as that! :)
Super job Anat! A new favorite for me in a long line from Charlie Ventura and up to now.
Lindo..O Benny Goodman tocou por muitos anos essa melodia fantástica,e agora a Anat expressou com sua delicadeza seu dom musical..Parabéns Anat e toda a banda.
Lovely musical performance !
One of the great clarinet players in the world. She can hold her own next to Eddie Daniels or any present or past clarinetist male or female.
Truly magnificent!!!
Beautiful...
A very soulful rendering of an essentially simple tune ,these are great players and Anat gets some great licks out of a very difficult instrument simply by "charming it" into what she has in her head. Four stars for drama alone!
Benny Green played marvelluosly in the Ray Brown "Son't Be Sassy". He's a proper heir to O.P. And Anat Cohen with him - it's like a great reunion of two masters - and they're still so young. They'll be Jazz legends someday.
Magnificent rendition af Body and Soul!
Excellent, excellent, excellent1
Subtly and enchanting !
Amazing performance! Most Excellent!!!
She's a revelation!
Thanks, a million and one. (This goes without saying.)
Gad, she's murdering this great tune!
I agree, but it's the pianist who does most of the murdering.
I'd love to see her live in New York.
I love it♥️🇮🇱
Sweet! Now google Mort Weiss "Body and Soul.
Great clarinet but unsupporting piano; too experimental, lacking depth and deviating from the original score.
