Yes, that gun is only for salutes. Line guns are shoulder fired guns. These salute guns are still used some by the Navy. The barrels are old 40mm, cut down.
We can do several things with that one. I had a chamber adapter made that will hold a 12ga blank, that's what's fired in the vid. We also have a cut down 40mm case that we load with 1/4lb black powder, and use a .32 ACP blank as a primer. We're going to change that to .38spl, for cost and availability. Now THAT is a ton o' fun. There have been day and night shots with the 1/4lb, the boom (actually more of a "pow") is extremely satisfying. Add to the night shots, a 4-foot ball of pink-orange fire. Yowza... We fire one of the 5" mounts too, each shot 2lbs of powder. Doesn't get much better than that...
