I really don’t understand why some people take pleasure in hurting others just because they can. There is no excuse. They enjoy it. It makes them feel good and says so much about the kind of person they are. I’m glad you have someone who can block these toxic trolls. You answered your own question. They do it because they enjoy it. Why they enjoy it remains a mystery to most of us who don't thrive on aberrant behavior. My suspicion is that they can't improve their own condition, so the only pleasure they can get is to try and make others as miserable as they are.
This was great, you could have left in the rants. So sorry you have to deal with trolls. The best thing I’ve found is to remind myself that none of that stuff is personal (even though it feels like it). They don’t know you, and they probably don’t have much love in their life. They are just lashing out at people who are the least threatening : / Congrats on 16k! That is terrific. Also, great idea to show yourself in the corner over the timelapse. I am just starting out (for the 5th time?) and I am so hesitant about showing my face though most say it’s the best way for people watching to get to know you. The Santa is super cute! I can’t believe you did not get your hair in the timelapse. Mine is not half as long and it’s always in the dang video. 😂😊
Terminally online people seem very entitled to everyone's business, which baffles me because as an introvert I couldn't imagine demanding stuff from strangers. Especially on the internet! So good on you for putting boundaries in place!! Your landscapes are beautiful!

Amy, I love watching your posts. I look forward to them. Great video, I love your chatter. It feels like talking to an old friend. If I can use two words, I would use peace within, or letting go. Letting go of the past I can’t change and looking forward to the future. My goals are more painting, get rid of supplies I don’t use. Now that I’m retired I have more time to paint, it’s my place of peace. I like to do portraits and landscapes and florals. Like you I’m trying to loosen up my style. Also I’m sorry about the nasty posts. Those people don’t deserve to watch your videos. Keep up the great work you do!
Good point on people leaving mean comments. We all need to rework our crap, no matter what it is and venting it out on UA-cam is not the way. Also good point on our purpose here on Earth. I recently heard an interview with a hospice nurse who said she sees it on daily basis - people in terminal stage of whatever they're going through have a lot less of mental anguish if they loved and worry for the most part about did they love well. Sure, someone might counter that by saying other things but that stuck with me so much it's a game changer.

It seems that sometimes people are triggered by others getting the positive attention they desire. It's called jealousy, and it's a primal instinct. If you own dogs, you're apt to see it. I have two, very well loved dogs and, as soon as one is getting attention, the other perks up and immediately wants some too. They can get hostile towards each other and occasionally will fight over it. Kids are like this as well. I'm retired, but I really got a bird's eye view when I got into management at a law firm. It was quite an education observing how childish people could be at every level, from young entry level people to the top, most highly educated. It was something I came to accept as human nature, and had to learn to adapt to in my approach to human relations. I taught workshops about interpersonal relationships between attorneys and staff. People's emotions are complicated by so many factors, it's difficult to know why they might be lashing out. It's easier to take the stance that "it's none of your business what others may say about you." Having a moderator is the healthy choice. Good idea!!! Of course, there's always the addage, "If 10 people say you're a horse, perhaps you might want to shop for a saddle," but that's contingent on your seeking that advice..lol. While working in law, I was getting painting commissions from the Beverly Hills lawyers I worked with. So I proudly would say I was an artist. One who I considered a good friend, not one who had commissioned me, took time to advise me that I shouldn't say I was an artist, because that was for others to decide! It's not easy. Protect yourself from random arrows! I ❤ listening to you, your sensitivity, and your work!!!!!

@winterwoodsstudio At 72, I'm still learning how to deal with negative interactions..lol. Thank you for your thoughtful response. In mine, I noticed that I forgot the first part of the addage. It should have been, "When one person says you're a horse, it doesn't make you a horse, but if ten do, then you might consider buying a saddle." Yeah, it's best not to read negative things directed at you. It is so natural to worry about them. I always try to look at why we do that through the lens of survival. Our brains are hardwired to do many things to preserve us, and focusing on a threat can be crucial to that. So, we do. It might seem silly, but we just do. Using your intelligence to circumvent that instinct is smart. You got a moderator to filter negativity for you!!! Your Guardian Angel!

Great video. Glad you have a moderator. I use the same tom bow markers. Been using the colored pencils and on occasion the markers. Should just buy the arches paper when in blick the next time. Really like the arches sketch you showed to use in the summertime.😊

Mean people! I don’t do a channel for this reason alone. I have had enough trauma. There is no way I could handle people being mean, I am like you in that I just cannot understand how people are these days. Happy wonderful new year Amy! Was surprised about the Arches paper controversy but I have the journal format too and I can say it's a real joy painting on it. Wow. I don't use it for travelling but more for an every day watercolor project. Can do landscapes or many smaller paintings on the same page. You can use both sides too which I found relatively economical at the end of the day. I love it. Hope you'll like it as much as I do. ❤ Have fun this year with your amazing art projects... your art style is so beautiful and unique.

I don't understand why such hurtful people have to spread more hurt to others. All we can do is try our best and to move on, I know it is easier said than done but know that you are admired and supported by many more! I think you did the right thing by having someone else filter the negativity so that you can continue your content by spreading positivity into the art community.

Happy New Year - love your prologues - your place looks like a fantasy - thank you for sharing the scenery with the rest of us. So pleased you share your art with the rest of us. Hope the moderator keeps the bad away from you. Glad I've never seen those comments. I follow a lot of colorists (I don't do art - only use coloring books) and I've luckily only seen nice supportive comments to artists and colorists about their work. I've considered these the good places to read and follow on "social media" because I like people to say only nice things. And provide helpful hints to novices on how to color and use different art products. You demonstrate so much and your art is inspiring.
Having a moderator is a great idea! I have no clue how people that they can bully creators because we publish ourselves online. Like, no. We choose to teach and entertain you, we do not post because we want to be bullied. My art goals for this year is to practice more figure drawing (I mostly just paint florals and fungus). And to attend more art conventions. I just signed up for my first, and waiting for their response. For now, I have three big ones on the list. And you need to be approved to attend. It is the best way to get recognized as an artist in my country. And I'm a terrible introvert in real life, so it is going to be fun. I used Stabilo Boss markers for your plein air sketchbook challenge. They are amazing for sketchbook work!

Hi Amy! Another great Video! I’ve been using an airtight gouache palette for months now with my Winsor and Newton Gouache. I haven’t tried the clove oil because I did hear the it can corrode the plastic, but I’ve been using and refilling mine for months now and I’ve had zero mold issues, and I live by the beach so fingers crossed so far so good! Anyway I’m happy you have a moderator to help deal with those nasty comments. I never understood why people on the internet feel the need to be so mean. Wishing you nothing but FLOW for the new year! I have tried other papers but always go back to Arches. Love the Albrecht Durer pencils for so many reasons. Number one is just to add a bit of detail at the end and use a fine brush to activate it. Love you and your videos. Happy and healthy new year

2024 really sucked for me and now I’ve got the flu!! Once I’ve gotten over this I hope 2025 will be better for us all. When I saw you had released a video today, that really cheered me up. I’m stuck on the couch feeling sorry for myself but I love your videos and you’re taking my mind off how crappy I feel and inspiring me to try and do some sketching in my sketchbook today. I like Arches paper, I've never had any sizing issues. I don't know why it's controversial? 🤔 My present to myself was treating myself to the 72 set of sennelier oil pastels for Christmas, some water mixable oils and some soft pastels. My goals for this year are to paint what I really want to paint and to get back to my Plein air again. Also I have booked a space to hold a solo exhibition in July so I best get splashing paint around!😂 All the best for 2025 and thanks for another lovely video. Trolls like to hang out in channels that are going somewhere so I guess congratulations are in order, you're obviously doing something right. 😉I've seen it a lot in photography channels over the years. The channel will grow and suddenly there's a bunch of trolls wanting to hang out in the comments. These channels are 50k + these days so I'd take it as a good sign that your channel is having some healthy growth. Don't take the troll comments to heart. For me at age 55, opinions are like, whatever lol, to me these days. Opinions aren't facts and most people sharing an opinion loudly and rudely, online have neither relevant experience or knowledge on the subject their opinions are about. So I ignore them or if I'm in the mood for a laugh I might read a few. They're just unhappy, bored people that really should get a hobby to channel their energy into. The fact that they hang out in photography, art and crafts channels used to puzzle me. They could learn so much from these channels and if they tried using that knowledge they could build themselves a good life, but no, they would rather not put in any effort and just try pulling someone else down instead. There are some truly miserable grumps in the world 😂

I think my word of the year is going to be purpose. My kids are grown and I too have had health issues which Ive slowly healed from the last three years. So can relate to you. Dont let the trolls get to you. Don't waste your time or attention on them. Letting them stress you out will effect your health. Don't give some stranger that kind of power over your life. I enjoy your art haul, Im jealous! How wonderful! I basically stick to acrylics because of my disability doesn't afford much. I will say, you seem to be trying to do it all. Consider the word focus for the year. It will help you get into that state of flow you want =)
I absolutely love your Santa illustration, and your acrylic view out your studio! You are so talented. My word for 2025 is Create. I have a studio full of art supplies and my overall motivation has been lacking. I also need to connect more and try to develop quality friendships. I have been isolated due to MS symptoms and age (65.). You live in a beautiful place-where is it? Don’t pay attention to meanies. I didn’t hear about an Arches controversy-don’t think I want to! I am just starting out (for the 5th time?) and I am so hesitant about showing my face though most say it’s the best way for people watching to get to know you. The Santa is super cute! I needed to hear alot of this amy. I struggle with self love due to past trauma and what i think may be undiagnosed asd, also chronic health issues. And why would we ever go in to detail online of all places. People need to realise life is tough, really tough for some so just be kind, it doesnt cost anything. So for me ive been working hard onl me over the past few years. I am also a reformed people pleaser, now i choose who i want in my circle and its a game changer. Ive also learned my style in clothes etc and found a curly hair hairdresser so this makes me feel good. Ive learned im a homebody and dont enjoy socialising so im accepting of this re health limitations aswell. So i have 3 billy bookcases in my bedroom filled with books which is a passion for me. Then there is my art which has motivated me the last couple of years especially. You and katie moodys channels in particular have been a big help. My word for the year in art is relax. Take things as they come, enjoy my art relax and become looser and spark joy again, im enjoying looking at illustration, mixed media, watercolour and acrylic. Im a mood artist lol. Thank you for being you and being able to relate .

I'm a flow girl this year, too. I feel so much freer if I begin to feel heavy finishing the 3rd or 4th of a certain medium and just chuck it, pick up something different and go for it. Have been doing that the past month and it is very therapeutic, exhilarating, fun! I don't want to do what I think I should do but what I want to do this year. Getting outside my head and going with the flow! Right there with you!!!!!
I chose Assertive and Remarkable as my words for the year. Sometimes I just choose one, but I had decided on assertive and then liked remarkable better later when I thought of it, but I still want to remember to be assertive, too. 😂😅
I really don’t understand why some people take pleasure in hurting others just because they can. There is no excuse. They enjoy it. It makes them feel good and says so much about the kind of person they are. I’m glad you have someone who can block these toxic trolls. Just keep creating art and entertaining the people who appreciate what you do.

You answered your own question. They do it because they enjoy it. Why they enjoy it remains a mystery to most of us who don't thrive on aberrant behavior. My suspicion is that they can't improve their own condition, so the only pleasure they can get is to try and make others as miserable as they are.

Terminally online people seem very entitled to everyone's business, which baffles me because as an introvert I couldn't imagine demanding stuff from strangers. Especially on the internet! So good on you for putting boundaries in place!!

I’ve been struggling to find my word of the year. This past year was rough, and I’m really just grateful to make it through the other side. Thank you for sharing your word of the year. It’s been a minute since I sat down to watch your videos, and I’m glad that I did. You are encouraging me to sit back down at my little art table and create something. Maybe that’s my word…create! Good point on people leaving mean comments. We all need to rework our crap, no matter what it is and venting it out on UA-cam is not the way. Also good point on our purpose here on Earth. I recently heard an interview with a hospice nurse who said she sees it on daily basis - people in terminal stage of whatever they're going through have a lot less of mental anguish if they loved and worry for the most part about did they love well. Sure, someone might counter that by saying other things but that stuck with me so much it's a game changer.

It seems that sometimes people are triggered by others getting the positive attention they desire. It's called jealousy, and it's a primal instinct. If you own dogs, you're apt to see it. I have two, very well loved dogs and, as soon as one is getting attention, the other perks up and immediately wants some too. They can get hostile towards each other and occasionally will fight over it. Kids are like this as well. I'm retired, but I really got a bird's eye view when I got into management at a law firm. It was quite an education observing how childish people could be at every level, from young entry level people to the top, most highly educated. It was something I came to accept as human nature, and had to learn to adapt to in my approach to human relations. I taught workshops about interpersonal relationships between attorneys and staff. People's emotions are complicated by so many factors, it's difficult to know why they might be lashing out. It's easier to take the stance that "it's none of your business what others may say about you." Having a moderator is the healthy choice. Good idea!!! Of course, there's always the addage, "If 10 people say you're a horse, perhaps you might want to shop for a saddle," but that's contingent on your seeking that advice..lol. While working in law, I was getting painting commissions from the Beverly Hills lawyers I worked with. So I proudly would say I was an artist. One who I considered a good friend, not one who had commissioned me, took time to advise me that I shouldn't say I was an artist, because that was for others to decide! It's not easy. Protect yourself from random arrows! I ❤ listening to you, your sensitivity, and your work!!!!!

@winterwoodsstudio At 72, I'm still learning how to deal with negative interactions..lol. Thank you for your thoughtful response. In mine, I noticed that I forgot the first part of the addage. It should have been, "When one person says you're a horse, it doesn't make you a horse, but if ten do, then you might consider buying a saddle." Yeah, it's best not to read negative things directed at you. It is so natural to worry about them. I always try to look at why we do that through the lens of survival. Our brains are hardwired to do many things to preserve us, and focusing on a threat can be crucial to that. So, we do. It might seem silly, but we just do. Using your intelligence to circumvent that instinct is smart. You got a moderator to filter negativity for you!!! Your Guardian Angel!

Great video. Glad you have a moderator. I use the same tom bow markers. Been using the colored pencils and on occasion the markers. Should just buy the arches paper when in blick the next time. Really like the arches sketch you showed to use in the summertime.😊

Happy wonderful new year Amy! Was surprised about the Arches paper controversy but I have the journal format too and I can say it's a real joy painting on it. Wow. I don't use it for travelling but more for an every day watercolor project. Can do landscapes or many smaller paintings on the same page. You can use both sides too which I found relatively economical at the end of the day. I love it. Hope you'll like it as much as I do. ❤ Have fun this year with your amazing art projects... your art style is so beautiful and unique.

I don't understand why such hurtful people have to spread more hurt to others. All we can do is try our best and to move on, I know it is easier said than done but know that you are admired and supported by many more! Happy New Year - love your prologues - your place looks like a fantasy - thank you for sharing the scenery with the rest of us. So pleased you share your art with the rest of us. I follow a lot of colorists (I don't do art - only use coloring books) and I've luckily only seen nice supportive comments to artists and colorists about their work. I've considered these the good places to read and follow on "social media" because I like people to say only nice things.
And provide helpful hints to novices on how to color and use different art products.

Having a moderator is a great idea! I have no clue how people that they can bully creators because we publish ourselves online. Like, no. We choose to teach and entertain you, we do not post because we want to be bullied.
My art goals for this year is to practice more figure drawing (I mostly just paint florals and fungus). And to attend more art conventions. I just signed up for my first, and waiting for their response. For now, I have three big ones on the list. And you need to be approved to attend. It is the best way to get recognized as an artist in my country. And I'm a terrible introvert in real life, so it is going to be fun.

Hi Amy! Another great Video! I’ve been using an airtight gouache palette for months now with my Winsor and Newton Gouache. I haven’t tried the clove oil because I did hear the it can corrode the plastic, but I’ve been using and refilling mine for months now and I’ve had zero mold issues, and I live by the beach so fingers crossed so far so good! Anyway I’m happy you have a moderator to help deal with those nasty comments. I never understood why people on the internet feel the need to be so mean. Wishing you nothing but FLOW for the new year! I have tried other papers but always go back to Arches. Love the Albrecht Durer pencils for so many reasons. Number one is just to add a bit of detail at the end and use a fine brush to activate it. Love you and your videos. Happy and healthy new year

2024 really sucked for me and now I’ve got the flu!! Once I’ve gotten over this I hope 2025 will be better for us all. When I saw you had released a video today, that really cheered me up. I’m stuck on the couch feeling sorry for myself but I love your videos and you’re taking my mind off how crappy I feel and inspiring me to try and do some sketching in my sketchbook today. Not sure what my word for 2025 will be. Will have to think about that. ❤

I like Arches paper, I've never had any sizing issues. I don't know why it's controversial? 🤔 My present to myself was treating myself to the 72 set of sennelier oil pastels for Christmas, some water mixable oils and some soft pastels. My goals for this year are to paint what I really want to paint and to get back to my Plein air again. Also I have booked a space to hold a solo exhibition in July so I best get splashing paint around!😂 All the best for 2025 and thanks for another lovely video. I have one of those palettes for my gouache and I LOVE it! I've only had it for about 4 months but it has never dried and never molded for me.

I really hope that the moderator is the solution to the problem. I just couldn't let go, no matter how hard I tried. Trolls like to hang out in channels that are going somewhere so I guess congratulations are in order, you're obviously doing something right. 😉I've seen it a lot in photography channels over the years. The channel will grow and suddenly there's a bunch of trolls wanting to hang out in the comments. These channels are 50k + these days so I'd take it as a good sign that your channel is having some healthy growth. Don't take the troll comments to heart. For me at age 55, opinions are like, whatever lol, to me these days. Opinions aren't facts and most people sharing an opinion loudly and rudely, online have neither relevant experience or knowledge on the subject their opinions are about. So I ignore them or if I'm in the mood for a laugh I might read a few. They're just unhappy, bored people that really should get a hobby to channel their energy into. The fact that they hang out in photography, art and crafts channels used to puzzle me. They could learn so much from these channels and if they tried using that knowledge they could build themselves a good life, but no, they would rather not put in any effort and just try pulling someone else down instead. There are some truly miserable grumps in the world 😂
What a beautiful intro, seems so peaceful ,even though I am not a fan of the cold the snow is so pretty 😊 my goal is just to be creative, positive and more happy and try to not stress over the small stuff 😊

I think my word of the year is going to be purpose. My kids are grown and I too have had health issues which Ive slowly healed from the last three years. So can relate to you. Dont let the trolls get to you. Don't waste your time or attention on them. Letting them stress you out will effect your health. Don't give some stranger that kind of power over your life. I enjoy your art haul, Im jealous! How wonderful! I basically stick to acrylics because of my disability doesn't afford much. I will say, you seem to be trying to do it all. Consider the word focus for the year. It will help you get into that state of flow you want =)

This was great, you could have left in the rants. So sorry you have to deal with trolls. The best thing I’ve found is to remind myself that none of that stuff is personal (even though it feels like it). They don’t know you, and they probably don’t have much love in their life. They are just lashing out at people who are the least threatening : / Congrats on 16k! That is terrific. Also, great idea to show yourself in the corner over the timelapse. I am just starting out (for the 5th time?) and I am so hesitant about showing my face though most say it’s the best way for people watching to get to know you. The Santa is super cute! I can’t believe you did not get your hair in the timelapse. Mine is not half as long and it’s always in the dang video. 😂😊

I needed to hear alot of this amy. I struggle with self love due to past trauma and what i think may be undiagnosed asd, also chronic health issues. And why would we ever go in to detail online of all places. People need to realise life is tough, really tough for some so just be kind, it doesnt cost anything.
So for me ive been working hard onl me over the past few years. I am also a reformed people pleaser, now i choose who i want in my circle and its a game changer. Ive also learned my style in clothes etc and found a curly hair hairdresser so this makes me feel good. Ive learned im a homebody and dont enjoy socialising so im accepting of this re health limitations aswell.
So i have 3 billy bookcases in my bedroom filled with books which is a passion for me. Then there is my art which has motivated me the last couple of years especially. You and katie moodys channels in particular have been a big help.
My word for the year in art is relax. Take things as they come, enjoy my art relax and become looser and spark joy again, im enjoying looking at illustration, mixed media, watercolour and acrylic. Im a mood artist lol.

Never listen to mean people, they're just very sad bored people with nothing to do but upset others. I will always support your videos as I find them very enjoyable and relatable, keep up the great work, and ignore the idiots.
I'm a flow girl this year, too. I feel so much freer if I begin to feel heavy finishing the 3rd or 4th of a certain medium and just chuck it, pick up something different and go for it. Have been doing that the past month and it is very therapeutic, exhilarating, fun! I don't want to do what I think I should do but what I want to do this year. Getting outside my head and going with the flow! Right there with you!!!!!

I chose Assertive and Remarkable as my words for the year. Sometimes I just choose one, but I had decided on assertive and then liked remarkable better later when I thought of it, but I still want to remember to be assertive, too. 😂😅
