Home decorating can be easy and fun! Today my mom and I share our bedroom designs, both very different from one another! We both love to shop at estate sales, thrift stores, goodwill and second hand stores for vintage and antique items to decorate our home with. My personal style leans more towards romantic Victorian style, while Mom loves deep dark colors and unique carved masks with a tropical design.

I graduated in 72. I like the dark room. It comes from working as a night shift nurse my whole life and having to sleep in the daytime.

I so love that Mom cave! It’s kind of the effect of when it’s dark and rainy and your bedroom is so cozy to curl up in and listen to the elements outside. It’s such a soothing, relaxing feeling. The bed is amazing, the masks…a little scary. They would be watching me all the time and the the fertility mask would definitely have to go to a different room. Can’t wait to see the mural you put up and I wish we could get a tour of the new house. My favorite piece of decor is Mr. Sherman. His face, that stare when you were filming your Mom Selena was such a crack up. I truly love watching you two always enjoying your time together.

Your room has always been romantic and I love how you've arranged the wall art in both rooms! Don't know about you, but I'm dreading daylight savings time. It's already getting dark by 7! On the shade frame, you guys are braver than me. I'd had thrown it all away. Once I bought a piece of pottery and when I opened the box all these cricket type bugs started jumping out. The seller kept her boxes in a barn. Thanks for sharing!

Sheila, you are a hoot!! Love the 70's vibe, I married in 1976, our 1st apartment was the 2nd floor of my husband's old family home. We were there only for the summer before leaving for college, but I was hooked!! Yours and Selenas tastes are so different, yet both so chic!!
I remember years ago I came home after work and my son and daughter painted (without asking me) his bedroom in dark navy blue, walls and ceiling. I was so upset, all I could think of was how can I repaint a dark color like that. But, to my amazement I now love that room and will never change it and it's over 15 years ago. I repainted everything in the house and I leave that room alone. I feel like when I am in that room like I'm in a cocoon. So relaxing, I feel cozy in that room. Love dark colors! What I like about the masks is the way they almost look like they are behind the wall & pushing out, sine they're almost the same colors. It would be cool to do a wall in black & paint some masks (repros of course!) with the same paint---fun creepy!! Love your mom's new bedroom, you & she are so lucky to have each other, to share that same great (&slightly twisted!) sense of humor, and your love of shopping for a bargain! Your Mom is so funny...love her. I love watching you two. Your vibe are totally different but you both know what the other likes so you can shop for each other. My dtr & I are total opposites as well. She's a total minimalist & I'm pretty much a maximalist...I like lots of pretty things to look at. My dtr just wants a few things that are functional. Keep thrifting!

We live about 35 minutes from my son and grandsons in Orlando We wouldn't have it any other way .Last two years my husband has been fighting stage 4 cancer So greatful we are by our family .
