One of the best parts about this whole thing - and where I think the live action stumbled a little - is that Luffy didn't even know who Arlong was. Didn't know what he looked like; didn't know anything about him. Had no idea what was going on across this island. But Nami was crying.
I haven't seen the live action but your'e exactly right, that's what makes it so good - Luffy is oblivious to the intricacies of the situation, he's simply trying to help his friend regardless of her having just backstabbed him
One thing I love about Luffy is that he doesn't understand anything about Nami's backstory. He doesn't even want or need to know anything. All he needed to hear was that Nami asked him for help. Luffy is the kind of guy that will help his friends no matter what without hesitation. You don't need to explain yourself to Luffy. You dont need to justify why you need his help. All you need to do is ask for it and he will do anything in his power to be there for you. Luffy is a real one.
And the live action completely missed this point and had the nerve to keep in Nami’s dialogue about telling Luffy he didn’t know what had been going on with her despite him now in the live action clearly knowing what had been going on with her.
Even better: nami asks for help, but how can he help if he doesn’t know anything? He just said ok and went on his way without further information. Welp, nami yelled one name over and over, that’s the only info luffy needed. That’s why the « which one of you is arlong » hits hard. And someone at netflix though it was a good idea to shadow drop it at the baratie instead smh

Luffy understands other people's feelings very well, he doesn't need to listen to someone's past to pity them, he just needs that person to ask for help as a good friend
Moments like this, which show Luffy's emotional intelligence are the main reason I and many more consider Luffy as the best Protagonist among the Big 3 and even one of the best shonen protagonists that are on par with Seinen protagonists. Some may disagree, but Luffy is really a great character.

This is one of the best scenes from the anime BYFAR, Framing the Squad that I was already waiting for! This Ep really is a mix of feelings, it is one of the saddest and most moving stories.
I really enjoy your reactions being someone that's read/watched One Piece since early 2000's. Y'all seem so genuine, it's refreshing. Just be prepared for so much more amazing ness. This is only the beginning!
One thing about one piece is every part of it is incredibly deep. On first glance it doesn't seem like it, but the deeper you look the more themes and philosophies you'll find are explored. I am confident that by the time you reach the halfway mark, you'll feel that this is one of the greatest stories ever told.
thats what i meant in on of you earlier videos, you cant tell the complete story in a live action, even though it takes longer in the anime, the attachment you feel during the peak one piece moments are insane, even characters you meet right away oda will make you feel some sort of attachment for a character even being angry, sad, or overall emotional. i love this show
Shite. This made me literally bawl out. I love love Nami. No matter what, she doesn't have any special powers herself. She's doing her best among monsters in the show. ❤
It's so hard for nami to trust pirates because pirates themselves like arlong killed bellemere and made everyone in her village suffer. And it's hard for her to ask for help because they might get in trouble or worse, get killed. Nami's love for money is not because of her obsession in a way that money is more important than anything. Money is something that can help people, that can help themselves. Money that can buy their necessities. As she officially become a straw hat pirate, she became the financial manager, who manages all of their money and divide it to buy important things they need such as foods, drinks, luffy's beloved meat, clothes, groceries stocks that can last long since they sail (it takes a while to see another island, so they need stocks), etc. She also charge them money (it may comes out as something evil, but nami never uses their money for herself only) she saves their money (it's like her way to get their shares) if ever they ran out of stocks or needs. Also for repairment for their ship. Many people misunderstood nami (for her greed in money, her strong punches lmao, she's the stressed asian mom in this group. Honestly, I feel her hahahaha. her weakness, she ain't physically stronger than others since she's normal human and spent all of her life drawing maps and studying weather. But she has other capabilities and abilities that makes her strong, her mentality is strong too) but I hope you guys wouldn't since her whole arc, is enough to explain why she loves money so much.
I've been watching yalls journey with One Piece, and welcome to the crew. And when yall made that statement about Luffy just being like "idc you're my friend" and yall love that. Oh man it gets crazier once you get further in the series with that. Welcome to the crew, we're so glad to have y'all!!
The walk to Arlong Park is still rated as one of the best scenes in One Piece to this day and for good reason. I know several people who all say that this scene is what fully sunk the hook in and made them committed to the story.
I always thought of this as the turning point, but I'm realizing that this is less of a turning point and more of a clarity of the path. Earlier arcs had good backstories, side-characters that got you invested, humor, heartfelt moments, action, and good storytelling, but this arc really elevates all of those elements to the new standard.
Very well said this really was the foundation for so many other stories like robins and kuma’s and even characters that are specific to arcs like oden’s backstory l. They had us believing in a man that was already long gone.
Maaan its so fun to see people get hyped for One Piece for the first time. I know everyone told you you ain't seen nothing yet but damn bro you rly haven' t seen nothing yet. One Piece is unique in that way that it doesn't AT ALL show you what its capable of at first, and when shit hits the fan you can't help but be in awe.
7:33 In my opinion it all comes naturally in this story. There's no forced moments to make Nami better than any other crew member. She's just the best at what she loves to do, navigate and chart maps. She's the big sister to most of the crew and they appreciate her like true friends. A very mutual respect type of crew. Luffy let her vent stopped her from hurting herself and waited for her to ask. 14:41 "Luffy... Help me." 15:09 Without a shred of hesitation!!!! HELL YES!!! I LOVE THE WALK
"The Walk to Arlong Park" is THE most memorable moment in all of One Piece to date. So much so that the OST has become signature soundtrack for epic, iconic One Piece moments.
I knew it... when y’all first got into anime, way before you even committed to One Piece, I had a hunch... you’ll want to get tattoos... and maybe name your kids after the Strawhats 😂 Every One Piece fan have had this notion, so you’re not alone.
I fall in love with Luffy in ep1 but I understand not everyone can fall in love Luffy instantly. However, Luffy was the No.1 popular character in this show for 25 years straight for a reason. And you will see that reason more and more. This is just a start. Luffy is one piece.
Appreacite how you guys are enjoying early one piece. East blue saga is really slept on. I even forget how good this was. Mad me emotional just rewatching it with y’all
episode 37 was the episode that solidified me to sticking with series until the end, i liked it up to that point and then it became that much better....that was 20 years ago for me. You guys are lucky to binge the series (if ya stick with it) in a few months or a year.
I really hope you're going to continue watching One Piece past the live action episodes, because the next big backstory will probably blow your minds of how good it is. I cry every time I rewatch those episodes.
You are absolutely right this is one of the best anime history episodes this is the episode for many people which made them understand the long journey they are about to take on is all about this is the episodes which i was and i was like u know what i m ready for this ride and i hope u felt that too amazing reaction love u guys ❤
These two episodes made pre-live-action people fall in love with One Piece and see what it had to offer. I am glad you two also felt the power of Nami's story in their full emotional-rollercoaster glory!
I watched the LA after the animanga and I felt exactly the same way, it was good but it didn't make me feel the same way, the anger, the sadness, the hype, Oda is a genius of making you feel things, for real. This ep made me knew I was going to watch all the 1000 episodes. Love your reacition! Suscribing :3
After watching this you need to rematch the live series to see how well they really pulled off making these arks in such a short span of 8 episodes. You will see so much more in it especially in the background with small details you wouldn't have seen before.
see you're starting to like and appreciate the characters more in the anime and you'll be very attached to them after some time nami is underappreciated by a lot of ppl like some criticize that she's not the best in battles but she's not supposed to be, her role is not to fight but she has one of the most important roles as a navigator and she's the best at it and one of the reasons why she's my favorite female anime character other than her story is her loyalty to luffy you'll see later
The live action was basically a summary of each arc. Only problem I had was the spoiling, not for me I'm up-to-date (1,000+ chapters), but for new crew members. The genuine reaction is refreshing. Don't let the number dissuade you, it'll fly by real fast unlike us OG fans. Had to wait weeks and months for new chapters/episodes.
Many One Piece fans site this episode as the moment they become locked in to the anime and I totally understand, cause I am one of them. I think it is a highest level demonstration of Oda's ability to write a story and a character arc, plus the animation, voice and sound team also did brilliantly, culminating into an amazing result
That’s why I like the live action. It’s trailer almost for people who haven’t watched one piece. It doesn’t have a lot of the parts the manga and anime have which is great for the spoilers part.
The walk we all felt robbed of in the live action, the eagerness to watch these four horsemen of the apocalypse fall on that fish bastard... it is one of the best scenes in the anime
this arc shows well what kind of person Luffy is. absolutely anyone in his place would immediately rush to help Nami as soon as he found out that she was in trouble, but Luffy let Nami solve all her problems by HERSELF, it was clear from him that he really wanted to help and was always nearby, asked many times if she needed help and getting another refusal left, not even I'm thinking of breaking into her personal life. he also wasn't interested in her story, he just needed to know if she needed help and who to kick ass, that's all he needed to know. having received the consent, he immediately went to investigate with a shout...
On god dude the sheer certainty luffy has with his "Of course I will!" Is incredible, without a doubt he will do anything and everything to help you its not even a thought that really cements him as that guy to me
I know it sounds crazy when people say "it only gets better". as someone who refused to watch OP, and finally did, its 100% true. every arc is better than the last. period. it only gets better, stakes get higher. "but one piece only gets good after 200 episodes!" no, one piece becomes the best show of all time after 200 episodes. and then you got 800 more of PEAK to go. WORTH EVERY MOMENT.
How fucking perfect was that? How absolutely perfect was that live action scene? Now that you're seeing the actual bit from the anime, isn't it just so fucking special?
Yes luffy absolutely stands for hope in one piece, he's able to give hope to everyone who needs it in the series I think it's another reason why everyone that meets luffy has so much respect for him including his rivals and enemies

I am confident that by the time you reach the halfway mark, you'll feel that this is one of the greatest stories ever told.
thats what i meant in on of you earlier videos, you cant tell the complete story in a live action, even though it takes longer in the anime, the attachment you feel during the peak one piece moments are insane, even characters you meet right away oda will make you feel some sort of attachment for a character even being angry, sad, or overall emotional. i love this show
and the journey began
I’m so happy for you,u started a beautiful journey if you continue it,enjoy it!!
Shite. This made me literally bawl out. I love love Nami. No matter what, she doesn't have any special powers herself. She's doing her best among monsters in the show. ❤
Man nothing i love more than seeing peoples first reaction to one peak. Glad you guys enjoyed it so much
It's so hard for nami to trust pirates because pirates themselves like arlong killed bellemere and made everyone in her village suffer.
I've been waiting for it, THE WALK!! 😍
Help me."
15:09 Without a shred of hesitation!!!! HELL YES!!! I LOVE THE WALK
"The Walk to Arlong Park" is THE most memorable moment in all of One Piece to date. So much so that the OST has become signature soundtrack for epic, iconic One Piece moments.
This is the arc that hooked everyone to one piece, this and alabasta are my favorite
I knew it... when y’all first got into anime, way before you even committed to One Piece, I had a hunch... you’ll want to get tattoos... and maybe name your kids after the Strawhats 😂 Every One Piece fan have had this notion, so you’re not alone.
"Of course I'll help you. I don't care if I have to take on the world" - Ron
Revisit this outro analysis after about 300 episodes 👏
I fall in love with Luffy in ep1 but I understand not everyone can fall in love Luffy instantly. However, Luffy was the No.1 popular character in this show for 25 years straight for a reason. And you will see that reason more and more. This is just a start. Luffy is one piece.
16:40 and those feelings still happen after over 1000 episodes.
Appreacite how you guys are enjoying early one piece. East blue saga is really slept on. I even forget how good this was. Mad me emotional just rewatching it with y’all
You guys are in for a world of enjoyment with One Piece, the lore and characters are going to leave a huge impression
episode 37 was the episode that solidified me to sticking with series until the end, i liked it up to that point and then it became that much better....that was 20 years ago for me. You guys are lucky to binge the series (if ya stick with it) in a few months or a year.
That walk was so triumphon 🔥 15:37
I really hope you're going to continue watching One Piece past the live action episodes, because the next big backstory will probably blow your minds of how good it is. I cry every time I rewatch those episodes.
This is only the beginning! I'm enjoying y'all's journey. You guys are in for a more rollercoaster ride! Keep at it!!!
u just gotta love luffy, everyone needs a luffy in his life
You are absolutely right this is one of the best anime history episodes this is the episode for many people which made them understand the long journey they are about to take on is all about this is the episodes which i was and i was like u know what i m ready for this ride and i hope u felt that too amazing reaction love u guys ❤
The walk to Arlong Park is one of the most iconic scenes in Anime.
And that's the first time THAT theme song bangs, and it will bang every time from now on
I always tell new fans to watch till episode 37 before judging the show. Glad you guys enjoyed it.
One Piece sets up characters SO DAMN WELL it's insane. As good as the live action is it's not ever going to be the anime.
Yall don’t even know . This story just keeps getting better and better . Glad you’re experiencing it all !
Do not blame the era you were born in..thats a good quote..
This is "THE WALK" scene, the most iconic scene of The East Blue Arc.
It's so hype to watch THE WALK all over again
Have been waiting for this since forever!
Keep up the good work!
After watching this you need to rematch the live series to see how well they really pulled off making these arks in such a short span of 8 episodes. You will see so much more in it especially in the background with small details you wouldn't have seen before.
see you're starting to like and appreciate the characters more in the anime and you'll be very attached to them after some time
nami is underappreciated by a lot of ppl like some criticize that she's not the best in battles but she's not supposed to be, her role is not to fight but she has one of the most important roles as a navigator and she's the best at it
and one of the reasons why she's my favorite female anime character other than her story is her loyalty to luffy you'll see later
The walk is here.
Episode 37 is what solidified me as a One Piece fan for life. I haven't looked back.
You nailed it with your review at the end.
These are the episodes where you REALLY understand you're not just watching a lighthearted pirate story, but there is something more.
Waiting for you caught up "I Want To Live" and "Nothing Happened"
this arc shows well what kind of person Luffy is. absolutely anyone in his place would immediately rush to help Nami as soon as he found out that she was in trouble, but Luffy let Nami solve all her problems by HERSELF, it was clear from him that he really wanted to help and was always nearby, asked many times if she needed help and getting another refusal left, not even I'm thinking of breaking into her personal life. he also wasn't interested in her story, he just needed to know if she needed help and who to kick ass, that's all he needed to know. having received the consent, he immediately went to investigate with a shout...
8:45 😂 there could be a fan test of character laughter in one piece, everyones is that distinct
So real of you guys 😭 I started one piece because of the live action and I loved it thought nothing could top it and then the anime just blew it out the water, I’ve never watched an anime before this. Nami is my favourite character I love her so much 😭😭😭
you have watch Nothing Happened and I Want To Live???
@@rai.official23 yes I have!! I’m currently at at the very end of dress Rosa! I love both those moments, the straw hats have my heart.
@@sophiaalistan2949 i dont want to spoiler but in wano arc you will have moment when ............. end the journey (the best flashback in one piece so far)
Awwww we here it here 1st baby girl will might be named NAMI. Love you both in this reaction video 💕💕
hope yall keep continuing the series it gets 10 times better just don't rush take ur time.
18:15 forshadowing!!! luffy is that guy who will fight the whole world just for his crew
Among One Piece fans, this scene is known as the "epic walk"! For me one of the 10 most beautiful scenes depicted so far!
And that, is what we call "Arlong Park Walk". They're so badass
When he gives her his treasure to keep safe while he goes with the boys to protect hers!!❤❤❤
