Wonderful place. I lived a little the same in the northern part of Sweden. No neighbors, Just silence. Now I have lived for 7 years in Hungary in a small village with neighbors everywhere. It's something like this I would love to find. I love Hungary, but I miss the silence and the freedom you have with no neighbors near.

Yes, but let's add what the problems have been for a long time.
      1. There are no jobs (humiliatingly low wages).
      2. World record corruption.
      3. A populist occupying mafia rules the country. His name is NER and Orbán.
      4. The level of community culture dropped enormously.
      5. Children are hardly born and young people have left the country.
      6. Education is on the verge of collapse.
      7. Public health care has practically collapsed. You can go for private orders at a high (normal) price.
So who are you and why did you write this? What you wrote is true, but it is also true for Croatia, Bulgaria and many other beautiful places in Europe.

About the medlar bush and it's fruits, the fruits needs bletting, which makes it very mushy amd of course very much enjoyable (excerpt from wikipedia):
' Chemically speaking, bletting brings about an increase in sugars and a decrease in the acids and tannins that make the unripe fruit astringent.
Ripe medlars, for example, are taken from the tree, placed somewhere cool, and allowed to further ripen for several weeks. In Trees and Shrubs, horticulturist F. A. Bush wrote about medlars that "if the fruit is wanted it should be left on the tree until late October and stored until it appears in the first stages of decay; then it is ready for eating. More often the fruit is used for making jelly." Ideally, the fruit should be harvested from the tree immediately following a hard frost, which starts the bletting process by breaking down cell walls and speeding softening.
Once the process is complete, the medlar flesh will have broken down enough that it can be spooned out of the skin. The taste of the sticky, mushy substance has been compared to sweet dates and dry applesauce, with a hint of cinnamon. In Notes on a Cellar-Book, the great English oenophile George Saintsbury called bletted medlars the "ideal fruit to accompany wine". '

I take it you are not alone and have a man to help you with all the work there is to do. How much land do you have to go with the house as am thinking you have bought it very cheap. The only problem I see is the land around looks flat and I like to see a few hills, but you are still very lucky to buy for that price. I wish you luck getting it sorted and running welll. Is just the sort of thing I like and do. So if you need advice on anything, feel free too ask.

    • @gabork5055
      @gabork5055 4 місяці тому +1

Lots of younger Hungarians (up to maybe younger gen X)understand English, it's just that we appreciate it more if someone learns the language.
Maybe not as much expected in the countryside.
Tanya in this context is the word for a village farm or property, the description says she is called Amber. :D
I find the best way to learn a language is from media but especially if you settle closer to a big city next to the countryside such as Győr or Debrecen (both often associated with their universities)you will probably find a tutor easily enough.
Edit.:Almost forgot Szeged, also one of the famous university cities.
