You know what’s funny Coldplay say themselves that they aren’t rock, they have even specified in interviews that they were never rock not even soft rock. They just make the type of music they wanna make whatever genre it is. The only people putting them in the rock category is these award shows and all of you. And then you hear their songs and shit on them for not being rock when they never tried to be in the first place.

I love Coldplay (it's my favorite band) but I agree that it is weird to classify them as rock, but honestly it's hard to put them to a genre since they have experimented with so many through the years. They are a bit of a pop rock/alternative, but Music of the Spheres is probably their most "pop" album.
How can coldplay be your favourite band? They’ve turned out garbage for years. They are straight up pop. I suppose you like kylie minogue & the spice girls too.

@@mcgubbin it’s my opinion I’m allowed that. He can definitely enjoy them I never said he couldn’t. What I said was how can they be your favourite band, there’s so many better bands out there doing the band thing better. Coldplay have turned into a bubblegum pop band which is so far away from what they were. It’s kind of sad to see a band making to appease a modern audience or to break america etc… instead of just being themselves. I honestly do t think coldplay have done that in a long time. What adds validation to that statement is going out & getting Beyoncé, Rihanna etc… to feature on your songs, the two hottest female singers in music at the time. This was an Indie band! I’m sorry they sold their souls to the devil & that’s why bAnds like Nirvana, the Beatles, oasis, pink Floyd etc.., will always be respected more… they never sold out.
@@tonyh8965 Buddy I get that and agree about Coldplay I listen to nothing but music from 40's to the 70s, all the rock folk, blues, singer songwriter music.
I personally find most music from.then till now including the 80s 90s 00s etc inferior overall.
However telling people how something shouldn't be their favourite band and listing all reasons .has no end, they obviously like it for whatever reasons.
I find things like Gallagher/ Nirvana etc aa part of that not as good bracket for my reasons, however you obviously like them so no matter what I say it won't change anything.

They could've been nominated for that with Everyday Life album but with Music Of The Spheres? That thing was all around simplistic unimaginable pop (maybe apart from Coloratura which was the only good track).
I don't think "Coloratura" is good at all, best song on the album is "Higher power." The rest are boring AF 😆

Coldplay themselves said that they are not even soft rock, let alone rock. They never aspired to be either. IIRC, they're kind of like Gorillaz? Experimenting with different genres and putting out whetever they're most comfortable with and that makes them fun to listen to.
But of course, the awards and "some people" put them in that category and then everybody else shits on them claiming some kind of holier-than-though, better-than-yours taste in music. All's good I guess, everyone is entitled to their own very wrong opinion, myself included. So, as long as music lives, I don't care if you slap on drums, screeching into the mic while a lawnmower runs in the background. To each their own.

Not a fan of his solo stuff, however I was hoping he’d nail it because music needs him. He’s just not the same when he’s not singing Noel’s arrangements. There’s a huge drop off. He’s come close on a couple of numbers.

It’s all about the songwriting. Think people are taking it easy on Liam. If oasis were coming out with these songs, they’d be getting crushed.
Oasis didn’t really sound like Oasis after a couple of albums, you can’t replicate that 90s sound or vibe it was a moment in time. Liam is doing some good stuff and still puts on a

None of these are music artists in the strictest sense. These acts should really be considered no different to ‘stage musicals’ in the same way you’d go and see a Lloyd Webber production. They’re set up like theatrical productions that masquerade as a bunch of local lads in a rock band who grafted hard and eventually got signed. Nothing wrong with theatrical productions. Loads of people like to go to musicals and watch dancers and singers and flashing lights. But hard gigging musicians who have cultivated their own look, own music and their own swagger, they are not.
Brit awards = music industry and medias. There is no real musical logic: remember that "wonderwall" lost against Take That for the best single award...
I've seen a variety of live acts, U2, Prince, Michael Jackson, Coldplay etc but without a shadow of doubt Oasis were the best.
