    As an autistic person, Knowing that I and others autistic people simply don’t pick up on or display these behavioral indicators and body language cues, All of this is very fascinating for me to watch but seriously makes me very concerned about how an interrogator would read my very odd and probably conflicting body language.
    All social interaction with strangers (and even with extended family to some extent) is stressful with autism. Especially so in a situation where you have just seen something very horrific and are now being interrogated by somebody who has the power to take you away from everything in life that gives you comfort and security (Plus in this situation you’re probably questioning nick’s involvement in this). Stress levels are basically off the chart.
    Second problem, A lot of the things this officer has been taught to do to appear LESS threatening to the neuro-typical human brain, are actually pretty threatening and EXTREMELY uncomfortable for autistic people. Namely, getting so close to the person they are questioning. Scooting the chair closer at the start, already uncomfortable, and then leaning in during critical moments, Worst thing you could do, I’ll probably stutter more not less. Your basically being cornered is what it feels like. Some autistic people are also very observant, like me. I might actually notice the mimicking behavior after awhile and while I can’t say for certain if it would make me totally uncomfortable it would definitely be distracting if I did happen to notice.
    God I hope I never end up in an interrogation room, that would go horribly.

    I get that Pyro is taking the piss with the body language stuff like "No duh when a cop tells you you'll go to prison forever you'd be nervous" but then also goes to show the dude is just so relaxed at his family being offed; showing exactly why they explained all the body language stuff in the first place.
    Side note: when you sign the paper acknowledging your rights you're not signing them away. Any of those boys could have asked for a lawyer, said nothing, and then went about the questions in a different way with a lawyer there. Yeah they put you in a small room and lie a bit but when they're asking you all this stuff you're choosing not to apply your right to remain silent. Nothing they do in this video is illegal or encroaching on any rights whatsoever. (In THIS video. Not that it NEVER happens because when it does it's illegal, immoral, and very much not ok.)
    Agreed with the kid on the court gamble too weirdly enough. if your options are '99% you go to prison forever' or 'admit you did it and 100% you go to prison forever' you'd wanna take that chance.

    • @jakeofnotrades13579
      @jakeofnotrades13579 2 роки тому +11

      They didn't explain the nervous behavior to show contrast with how relaxed the killer was, they told us what the behavior could mean on its own. Picking up the bottle could mean he's hiding something, off beat taps on the table could mean what he's saying is a lie. The nerves analysis just seemed redundant given that they're teenagers in an interrogation room with an officer who said they could be put away for life, that alone would explain the nervous behavior. That's why the relaxed and apathetic demeanor was jarring.
      Also it varies between states, but interrogators can lull you into a sense of safety to trick you into signing away your right to an attorney, near the beginning when they treat it like it's just some questioning and not that your a suspect.

If they send you down in the Iron Lung. They don't give a damn if you come back. Or if the sub comes back, because it's a pile of garbage and you're a piece of crap. You come back with photos? Great. You sit down there and suffocate, quietly. Even better. But if they send the SM-8 down, one of the scientists is piloting and they all expect them to return. And now the SM-8 is in the Blood Oceans in pieces. No, not "hit a rock" pieces or "sprung a leak" pieces. It look like something tore it up. And the weirdest thing is that nobody else seems surprised. We might have found the first planetary life since the rapture, and they're acting like it's no big deal. Yeah, no, this is bs.
      If the Police have a reason to take you into custody for a major offense like mass murder, they can take your DNA without consent. And even if you are only there for a petty crime, the police need to get a "compulsion order" from the judge to be able to take your DNA without your permission. At the point of both situations, they dont need to "sneakily" do it, they just do it.

    Honestly I get what Pyro is saying at the end there. This whole time I'm thinking in my head "C'mon man put up a good defense, defend yourself dont just sit there." but at the same time, we've known he was guilty since the start, and even if his father was abusive or parents were strict, you'd also have to factor in his two innocent little brothers, and as the oldest of three that is what kills all empathy I might have for him.

    25:23 the reason hes wearing gloves is probably because in interrogations, if your dna isnt in the system, they give you a water bottle so they can get dna on the cup, so he probably has the gloves on incase he needs to grab the bottle without tampering with the dna

    What would DNA prove? That he lived at his own house? They have to put him at the scene of the crime at the time. In most cases, DNA is useful because it proves someone was where they weren't supposed to be. It gets complicated when the murderer lives with the victim.
