Can a person of color or melanin, use Vitaman skin care products?
What I like about John is he will actually respond to his subscribers. And not just short yes or no answers he will answer your question with detail
Ha! Thanks Antonio! I made that video over two years ago, so maybe it’s time I make an update to it! Thanks again!
2 of the style gurus I watch.
Hello to both of you. I wanted to know how color of skin is key to matching colors of dresses, not all colors have the same effect. I'm in my early 30s and follow Antonio to get into it cos earlier my wardrobe was still pretty much what I always bought from late 20s.
Excellent professionalism in this video exchange gentleman. I see an example of dichotomy bring out the best in the dialogue. Respectable, honest exchange is valuable. Thank you for the video.
Apparently Antonio has only watched a handful of your videos at least you do respond to your subscribers questionsI’ve seen a couple videos where do you recommend men skin care products
"He has gray hair, he's an older guy" .... 😄... in some way Antonio looks older than John! Antonio is so settled... he's more the solid dad-type. John is more a fresh guy.. unbroken young👍
by the way, i'm 60 now... and i like Antonio too
In general, I think a lot of guys in my age bracket (50s) were never taught anything other than dressing "casual" or sloppy. Dressing well just wasn't a thing the generation before us or our parents passed on to us, and in the case of the boomers, they had some horrible fashion trends that we didn't want to follow.
Like another poster said, dress with the dignity of your age. I don't really wear graphic t-shirts anymore because I feel they look silly on me as a middle-aged man. But I also don't wear dress clothes out to do sweaty, dirty work on the tractor. Be pragmatic and wear the dignified clothes that the occasion or situation calls for.
Well said.
Hey, Hey, the boomers gave us the greatest fashion of neon rayon track suits.
Agreed, I'm a little younger, but I was never taught any of these things. Thanks @Realmenrealstyle for making this video.
Personally, I prefer a double breasted suit when working on the tractor as opposed to the standard 3 piece suit. I think that provides more practicality especially if you need to wear a tool belt.
I like John's videos. They were what got me started on dressing my age and finding your videos. I think he does a fine job of explaining things without over explaining. He tends to add a little more touches of bringing in your own style and just lays down the foundation to work from.
I agree. I think John is great.
This video’s attack on him not so much. You can bet John is way too much of a gentleman to return fire
depends entirely on your physique, if you have a good lean muscle you can get away with younger clothes absolutely no problem, guys, just get fit and pretty much anything you throw on looks good
"You're best fashion accessory is YOUR BODY"
A MAN OR A WOMAN EVEN IN HIS 50 'S ( HER ) 50 'S WITH A FIT BODY .
I MEAN A GOOD SHAPED BODY. CLOTHES THAT COSTS $ 10.00 DOLLARS SO TO SPEAK LOOK GREAT AND VICEVERSA A. GIRL OR BOY UNDER 20 YEARS OLD IN BAD SHAPE
FATS. OBESE ETC EVEN WITH THE MOST EXPENSIVE AND FINEST CLITHES LOOK GROSS AND UGLY..
FOR EXAMPLE ANTONIO LOOKS GOOD BECAUSE HE IS IN GOOD PHYSUCAL SHAPE.
WORKING OUT PAYS A LOT.
FEELS BETTER
LOOKS BETTER
FEEL BETTER
ETC.
I'm fit/lean and still have problems. I have the body of a chimp. A big wide back, traps, and shoulders with spindly arms and chest. Shirts that fit my width are always way to long and huge around my waist; if they are short sleeved the sleeve normally goes down to my elbow.
WEAR THAT EVER YOU WANT! Don’t try to look young, just be your self.
Why do all these fashion gurus think older men are trying to look young? We aren’t. Not once have I ever thought about looking younger, I just wear the same clothes I’ve worn since I was young. Not because I want to look young but because it’s what I’m used to.
I agree with most everything except the whole “pants must have a tapered leg” thing. Tapered leg pants and jeans are a very specific fringe type fad that comes and goes-straight leg is timeless and totally ruling them out is foolish. And since I often wear boots, I even have a few boot cut jeans. Trying to put on a pair of boots with some of the ridiculously tapered jeans that are way too tight to temporarily roll up over the boot shaft (even shorter ones) and then unroll back down over them is a pain.
I think he just means a gentle taper, not those hideous stovepipe or v-shaped leg jeans. I'm with you, it's 501s and bootcut in boot season, but I gotta admit I look better in well tailored pants and leather shoes when I'm with clients.
@@MiaogisTeas Agreed. I have a bodybuilder’s physique though and have pretty prominent calves (after much hard work on them) and some of those tapered leg pants out there just don’t work for me. But I’ve always held to the philosophy of middle road fashion always being in style, which is why I have medium width neckties and jackets with medium width lapels, straight leg pants (or a mild boot cut) and my hair is medium length. I hate wild swings in fashion that are trendy.
@@bcs2em625 I don't quite have a body builder's physique, but I am athletic. I can't even get my legs into the slim fit or tapered jeans most of these channels are pushing. Not every man out there has chicken legs. Where what fits you I say.
I was going to say exactly that! I wear boots and boot cut is needed, but I like straight leg jeans
I avoid anything that might look gay.
Sharp Casuals. Casuals that don't make you look lousy.
Hugo is more of a poet and writer than a philosopher
I'm glad that someone pointed that out 😉
Victor Hugo is my favorite 19th century author. Anyone who thinks they know his works because they've watched Hollywood's abominable adaptations of The Hunchback of Notre Dame is fooling himself.
@@theoriginalDAL357 I think you could say that about 90% of Hollywood adaptations...
I love these videos, interviews and livestreams you do with other stylists. It is great to see men working together for the common good.
Antonio, I watch you and John.
I am a little surprised that you were so critical of John’s video. Yes, I think John does dress young for his age. But I would like to see from you how older men (50-70) gasp should dress.
I don't dress to look younger or older or whatever, I dress how I like. Period...
Agree to you on this
If you got the body dress any way you want.
I'm 64 years old and mostly wear camo cargo pants and any T-Shirt I happen to pull out of the closet. I'm past the point of caring what other people think or making any kind of statement!! It's all about the comfort and having enough pockets for your mini TV's, (cell phones), etc! I've been done with women for a long time, and I think internally, I do things to make them not even consider any interest in me such as wearing what I want, chew tobacco, etc!! I have a beautiful home, 2 vehicles, money, and ALL my bills are paid off. Why in the hell would I care what people think of me on how how I dress!?! Absurd!!
Right on point!
Excellent!
Great comment! I just wear jeans and t-shirts and have for over 15 years. I recently had to go to a fundraiser for a friend's granddaughter and only changed the t-shirt for a faux turtle neck.
It's not always about other people though. I don't dress nice for the attention. I just like to look at clothes so dressing nice happens naturally. It's a hobby.
Even if I was the last human on earth I would dress nice. Actually, if I was all alone I would probably wear a 3 piece suit every day. Now I have to settle with business casual with a knitted tie. Anything more would scare or annoy people in some way.
I wear whatever I feel looks good on me and makes me feel great and confident about myself.
Same IDC if men dress nice or not I judge people based on energy and good vibes only that's it.
I love your videos and John's. You explain more detail but normally place a 3rd of the content as a commercial, where John just hits the high spots.
Thanks, I do love your channel.
I wear whatever the hell I want. If someone doesn't like me that's their problem.
Who are you trying to argue with?
I use to follow these types of videos, but one day I realized I'm to old to give a fuck.
I wear what I want.
Now I get a lot of comments on how good I look, because I am me.
Others opinions don't move me.
However, If your starting out trying to learn how to look better for yourself, then this is a good place to start.
If you don’t follow this. Why did you watch the video?
Amen brother. Whatever feels best on you is what you should wear!!! Fashion is for women!!
@@Trd2020 To comment?
This whole video is "I can make a better video " energy 😂😂😂😂😂
Yes and that was pathetic
Hon. I'm 67 and have learned in my years that 95% don't give a shute what people think about their "style". More like: Does it fit, is it clean (enough), is it cheap, can I buy in a package of 6. Good enuf.
I'm 42 and I'll keep wearing my camo shorts and band shirts to the day I die, thankyouverymuch.
Sooo you watch this channel so you can comment this? Kinda waste of time innit?
@@lolish1234 I dont watch the channel, it was in my recommended videos, thus no time got wasted :)
@@Piergeiron even worse
@@lolish1234 nope, pretty solid
Funny thing is, this stuff is ALL depending on social circles. Dressing like the guys in this channel at a metal show, or a hangout with musician, blue collar, or biker friends would make you a complete outcast yet you would be welcomed openly wearing band shirts and camo shorts. There is a lot to be said for just having the social awareness of knowing yourself, your crew, and the situation. Even sticking to cargo shorts and band tees you can still make sure the fit is right ya know?
As my late mother said "I wear what is comfortable and I like. If nobody else likes it, I don't care". Actually, it was a bit more harsh lol. She has a point, what gives you the right to dictate what people wear? I prefer cargo pants and shorts, you don't like that? Oh well.
If you think thats way. Why are you watching this kind of videos?
Nobody's dictating anything.
I can wear speedos to cut my grass if I want. On the other side of the coin is people are allowed to respond to me as well. They also have that right to an opinion. No ever looks twice at someone in cargo pants, and that's fine if that's what you are going for. It's not that people "don't like"; it doesn't make anyone mad or angry. You are just completely invisible. It's not hate it's just apathy.
@@riothero313 You miss my point. Or perhaps I wasn't clear. I wear what I am comfortable with and couldn't care less what anyone says about it. If I am "invisible", so much the better because I don't have to deal with shallow people. 👍
@@stevenbass732 I didn't miss your point at all, that's exactly why I said:"that's fine if that's what you are going for".
While Victor Hugo may be best remembered as the author of “The Hunchback of Norte-Dame,” he was also an accomplished visual artist. A few years ago I saw an exhibit of his ink drawings at UCLA’s Hammer Museum and was amazed. The drawings were dark and mysterious, almost macabre. Absolutely fascinating.
When I was a little kid and heard the words, "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame", I thought it might be about some football player. Really did!
As one grow old, one prioritizes comfort over looks.
Every guy can wear anything they want, just judge yourself and to any body
Wear whatever makes you happy. Don't worry about judgers or haters.
I'm a physical therapist and I'm 6'3" and 240 lbs (years of lifting weights). I am an overpronater and because I'm heavy on my feet and have a history of plantar fasciitis, I wear Asics running shoes with extra arch support with my shorts or jeans. Though not ideal with regard to style, I've got to take car off my feet first. Sometimes health >style.
Yep. I wear hiking boots for a similar reason. Need the structure to support left foot damaged in a motorcycle wreck. They do blend with the tactical pants that I wear ,,, trim fit for casual Town-wear, standard fit for labor.
A great critique of a video that covers areas you have addressed many times before, Antonio. It’s all about the “Fs” - figure, fit, function and fabric. Whether you’re in your teens, 20s, middle age or older, these are the fail safe points every guy should follow when choosing what clothing to buy or wear.
A poor guy like me don’t mind if I did not dress well my self in the public.. As long as I am comfortable, I’ll go for it.. You are so lucky because you can afford those clothes to comfort your self! Congratulations!
Poor, do not need to be ugly. Just simple old clothes will do.
@@chrisgooi yeah I’m poor to the poorest!
@@katotosvloginspain9418 its all ok. Your are a good man. Dont need to impress anyone with what you wear. All the best! .
John's channel is to a loaded perfectly baked potato... as Antonio's channel is to a family size bag of Lays. Sometimes you want depth and fullness... Sometimes you just want to snack on light fare. Both satisfying in their own way.
Thanks Antonio, and John for great content.
I don't see anything wrong with dressing like you're in your 20s or 30s, most dudes I see in their 40s are starting to dress like their 8 years old.
Turning 50 this year, but if Chubbies and Hawaiian/retro bowling shirts with Sperrys in the summer is wrong, I don't wanna be right haha
I like to wear sneakers (old for running shoe) because they are comfortable. If they are unfashionable, that is just an added benefit that people will intentionally avoid me.
I wear athletic shoes, however I always get black ones. If there's any white on them, I spray paint it black.
Couldn’t help but wonder the point of this video: were you out to just critique John’s information awhile boosting your own ego?! 🤦🏽♂️
Sorry, I have a boatload of graphic T-shirts. I ditched all the slogan and sayings, but I've kept the others with just non-tacky images. I've donated a lot of clothes to charity and Goodwill, but I'm not going to get rid of like 75% of my T-shirts because I'm over 50 and start all over again. They fit fine, and that seems like a waste of money.
@Reāl Men Real Style I already am.
I see a lot of older men dressing up like this nowadays as me and my 20-year-old friends dress up like 40-year-olds men lol
How did 40-year-olds dress 20 years ago? Why give up who you are?
@Rick Vis - yeah but why give up who you are as a person for some bullshit society? Can't a guy dress any way he wants in America??
Guys watching this over 40: Take everything you’ve learned in this video. And absolutely trash all of it. Wear whatever you want to wear. Full stop. If you wanna wear 25 year old clothing and it gives you confidence. Wear them. Who cares what other 50 year old dudes think. I’ve never seen more boring style then John. Except those plaid pants. Those were fun. Also, the video maker is right on one thing. SKIN CARE
Nicest left-handed complement from a younger woman: "You look like you're from this decade"
What part is the comment?
Choosing the right shop to go (over 50s age) is the key
My husband and I Every 2 years we go to same shop. People know by our names and we stay there for 3 hours chatting and laughing
I'm 44 and I don't think I'll ever wear the kind of old man clothes you wear.I wear mostly military style clothes, M65 jacket and BDU or similar pants in solid colors and camo. They are cheap, warm, last for years and women seem to love the look.
Stop watching this 3 min in. Sorry guys, I dress for comfort.. not to 'prove' myself. I am not going to wear no 'leather like' shoes when I go shopping or whatever - yes, if I am going out for dinner, then it's different. You start of by saying 'Where does it says you have to follow society.." (or something to that nature) and then go needing to wear for approval? Dress clean.. and carry yourself with confident.. everything else are just 'noises'. Oh, and keep yourself HEALTHY! Rather a fit 50YO in nice clean Tshirt and jeans than some fat dude in 3pieces suit.
I've learned a great deal from both of you. I tend to favor John ever-so-slightly, but Antonio definitely makes me think. Great video.
If it makes you happy, wear that Metallica t-shirt. Wear that Venom hoodie; happiness is king.
I watch both you guys. Recently I have been finding that post pandemic men's clothing stores leave a lot to be desired. So many look ransacked and trashy. The solid privately owned stores are far and few between. Brick and mortar style shopping is in a dismal state. Even decent franchise like men's shops have been gobbled up by large corporations. The result is the experienced managers are replaced by corporate "pets", and skilled sales and alteration staff has been pushed out in favor of lower rate, no experience, and unskilled personnel. Time was you went in, and people had a discussion with you regarding your goals and objectives for apparel. Now you either are ignored, treated like an interruption, or get the "you need sompin'" attitude. There are places I used to shop pre-pandemic that I now will never spend a microsecond considering, and won't spend a penny in. Just unbelievable. I would really enjoy getting your take on this.
I'm 43. Yours and John's videos have helped me totally overhaul my wardrobe over the past 2 years. Good to go now.
Responding to comments is one of the most unique and important elements of youtube to me. Coming up with youtube since a very young age (born 2000), the ability to comment and potentially have a person mention that in a video is certainly a dopamine rush but that is also good for your channel because everybody wants to be seen and heard so the audience's desire is met in a way that boosts your stats and puts you in more recommendations.
Also depends on your location and culture, small mountain towns in Co people would look presumptuous dressed in sport coats all the time.
Men need to wear relaxed fit jeans if they actually move. John is apparently stuck in business casual and his goal is just stand still and look pretty.
Antonio, I subscribe to both channels and I would say that John's viewers don't need things explaining to the Nth degree. He makes his points and doesn't need to labour them.
Whilst I enjoy both channels, some of you "lifestyle" vloggers can occasionally be patronising and secondly, you got a whole video out of appraising one of his so don't be too harsh when you're piggybacking his work.
I'm in my 20s and dress like a 40+ year old
agreed, body shape is the truth above all else when it comes to choosing your clothing.
Great video my friend. The key is "fit", i've learned that.
An interesting video that I should pay more attention too and follow. But I don't think there is a lot I am going to take from this. I wear cargo pants all the time. I find them the best way to carry my keys and phone because I hate carrying them in my hip/back pockets. Why people put anything in those back pockets I have no idea. As for t-shirts, I got quite a few that are solid colors but a lot with fun prints on them as well. Being an adult sucks. So I like to have a few fun things to wear because there are few good things that ever came out of being an adult for me.
I'm 47 and started wearing skinny jeans and for me it works
If you're not a bodybuilder/strongmen etc (or not exercising) and notice that you musclesmas are declining, step up your gym game.
Antonio, I would like to see you do more older guy videos, yourself.
Thanks Richard - Added this to my queue.
Me too specially for us with just a bit of gray hair or even worst my self having most of my gray hair in my mustache and beard.
@@PREDATOR07 Welcome to the club!
Good tips. Really need to get some clothes into the Tailor.
Fit is king 😁
Most men are overweight. That is the first place to start, then you can wear clothes that fit.
4:30 is a point I can get with. Staying in your own personal preferences over the trends or societies views. I am 19 and I always try my best to look sophisticated, even if I go to my local 711 I throw on a nice set just because I want to look like a proper man and a working man. And, I like trenchcoats, suspenders, and other more odd fashion that is not a youthful trend. I really like older fashion and definitely have my own style. I hope I can keep my head on right and stay myself while still looking sophisticated
My son likes older fashion too, he gets cranky tho bc people think he's older than he is, he's only 22. His dress sense is somewhere between his dad and his granddad. He like nice shoes too.
Good video as I am also subscribed 40 over fashion for more than a year, just turned 40 this year but love the way he dresses.
Hi Antonio, I would love it if you made a video update for an interchangeable wardrobe.
... I'm not giving up my boot cut jeans and cowboy boots...
Great vid, Antonio. Have to ask...what watch are you wearing?
Antonio is pretty much spot on, as is John of 40 Over Fashion and Jeff of Style O.G. However, this stuff is basically common sense, and if you have any sense of what is anesthetically pleasing to the eye (almost everybody has this to a basic extent), just pay attention to the different styles of dressing that people engage in you will begin to see and develop an understanding of what is good and attractive versus what is not good and unattractive. Something just begins to happen when you adopt manly, masculine perspective and attitude about life and your place in it. I have been viewing all three channels and I have yet to learn anything earth-shattering and that I didn't already know and have some innate awareness of. Press on toward the prize.
Most men these days don't have common sense and don't know how to dress well
Yeah, so yesterday I watched one of his boot and jeans videos and afterwards I said, "I'm done with this guy." Telling men over 40 to wear skinny jeans and cuff their jeans over their boots. Absolutely NO to skinny jeans and/or cuffing.
I’m a 62 year old man. I sometimes wear slim fit jeans , and I wear athletic sneakers with a sport jacket and I try to get everything tailored. I’m 5’9 and 175lbs
Over 60 "young" look: White socks with sandals under skinny distressed faded jeans. Nike logo black t. Baseball cap worn backwards. 👍 All for you guys.
An important point that Antonio missed is that John’s very age appropriate for Southern California and warm weather (and stylish) part of the world. There are outfits that are too old and formulary from Antonio and there are those that pushed too far with John (especially the patterns) for me.
Most importantly, be myself, not what phases I am going through.
well wrt fashion it's a sensitive topic of colour coordination with skin tone - i'm black & African. i just think it'd be great to get some style-forward practical suggestions from RMRS
Antonio speaks so fast & clearly, it's easy to listen
Some good points, but I cant entirely take someone serious who wears polo shirts with little embroidered animals on them. 😂 Nice Mister Rogers sweater, too! 😆
Ha! I came across that video. Great advice guys. 🙌
Funny when I dress “my age” I’m told I look old so I stay in my fitted and tshirt and jeans and ppl usually guess my age by -10 on average
Sound like this video is for guys who are not overweight. What about guys who have extra weight around the middle? Jeans and slacks that fit the middle will always be somewhat baggy further down.
Whether your shirt size is M or L, a good advice ís to pick the 'Slim Fits'. They build nicely, make you look better including sweaters or jackets, as if they would have been taylored for you. 👍
:-) Interesting and fun to watch. I was a member of a band who wore velvet jackets with brooches and leather trousers with Indian print scarves, a fashion company based their designs on the band.
So, way outside the box. Age definately is an issue. I think the point about fit is important, and going to the tailor if something isn't quite right. Style over fashion every time, style is beauty, aesthetic and a conservative look tends to be best. Men are lucky in as much as a good suit is a thing of beauty.
I'm 57, I like The Cramps, The Rolling Stones and therefore a relationship between style and music is central for me. I wore vintage psychedelic clothes until recently. Do we dumb down the look as we get older? Nothing worse than 70's hippies who maintain a little of the look...the university lecturer with long grey hair :-) I made the decision to grow old disgracefully, but you have got to be quite thin. I've never seen Keith Richards look uncool, except that one time, and he's nearly 80. It's all fun, it does matter to some of us and reflects identity so definately matters.
One trick is to look great without appearing to have tried very hard, I see young good looking guys with "man bun" hair, muscles and tattoos who look like they really love themselves. In other words they look vain, a real turn off.
Old pop stars invariably look terrible, I think you have to believe in what you wear and love it.
Also, work out, do the cardio, look after your skin etc. Thanks for the video :-)
Simple, TIMELESS, basic rule, "Fit body, and clothes that fit right"
Sop wearing Jordans, Do rags, heavily graphic shirts, & Jerseys. I personally NEVER understood heavily ripped jeans or tight skinny jeans. The former is not my generation.
Your channel and John's are my two favorite channels on UA-cam. BTW, I'm 63 yrs old.
I just grabbed some nice tang tops from Target... trying to stay away from Walmart.
Am always amazed when I see grown men (and women) wearing tee-shirts with cartoons on them.
I use driving mocs at the office & they work just fine 😇 i love the look 👀
The one thing that an older man should always have is dignity. You throw your dignity out the window by trying to dress like a twentysomething.
Even 20 something's are more childish and lack dignity
You throw your dignity by worrying what other guys are wearing on
good advise, thanks!
Hey Antonio, just an appreciation for your videos. Keep up the good work mate.
This video made me remember when the oversized button down shirt was a thing.
i'm 53 an award-winning designer and i have the same philosophy as Rick Owens eat less exercise more and wear clothes that fit your boby yes take a tailor-me personal I wear modern clothes and thank god nothing here is relevant for me.
Great video! I'm curious what you think about Manchester Jeans!
fuck this shit. my uncle is early 50s and he still wearing nike dunk low with minimal street wear like a boss.
My dad is 62 and dresses like a 10 year old. I love him! 🤣😂🤣
Fashion leather sneakers have no arch support and are usually not for walking long distances.
Thanks for th update. I'm have to have a look thru th wardrobe.....being 50 there about.
I bought 3 sports coats today because of John. You are both valuable. Thank You
Sandals can work, true, but thongs are for poolside or in a shower or similar environments.
I dress for comfort. I really don’t care for what others think. Man if I want to look like a pretty man I dress like that, but no I work harder than all. Shoes have to take a beating pants hand to take a beating and not rip. Shirts loose because I move too much. Plus I have very little gray hair and not that old looking
HEAD GEAR OVER 50
Baseball caps?
Baseball caps worn back to front?
Baseball caps worn inside out and backwards (AKA rally cap)?
Love this video ❤️❤️
Thanks!
I live in the Tropics; so sandals are the go for casual wear because your feet get hot. Of course, if you are at work or on the job; in which case, you must wear the appropriate footwear.
Most mens' video frown on brown with black, running shoes with jeans & casuals, cuffs & pleats, full & boot cut legs, but John does say it's subjective. I'm 68 & still fit into most of what I did in my thirties, so I'm just a bit careful & counter to what may be good general advise.
John’s 40over fashion channel is one of the best menswear channels, along with Jeff at The Style OG and Courtney Ryan these are the three best no comparison, and sorry Antonio that includes RMRS
When you have terrible foot problems it’s hard to beat running shoes for comfort.
