I think I speak for the whole community when I say we appreciate the steady flow of new content & features. The new Jupiter X engine sounds FKN amazing! It truly makes me love my XM even more. The power plus portability factor of this synth is simply unmatched. I can take my XM and a MPC Live 2 camping and both have built-in speakers and are battery powered! Thank you Roland!
This update is jaw-dropping. I liked my JPX a lot since it came out. Now I absolutely love it, and I can’t stop messing with it. It now stands at the top of my little synth island… way to go Roland!
In 2015 I played system 8, 2019 bought Fantom 7 on day one. Roland cloud and Zen core trickled in, ie its 2022 and all the prices have become unified to this. Roland is really hitting a home run. Love the The direction and thanks Roland for the updated firmware and support. Jupiter is way out there in front of the Pack…..
Thanks Roland for this massive upgrade finally unleashing the Jupiter X/Xm’s capabilities. I know it’s a lot of work, but as there have been many improvements in the workflow of this device since v1 of the firmware, it would be really nice if there was a Roland official “from scratch” big tutorial or series of tutorials on using the X/Xm taking into account all of these improvements and covering the new features like sequencing or the new built-in or add-on models. Right now I can use my Xm of course but still feel a bit confused by my v1 initial learning. New users may be even more confused as there aren’t really starter tutorials covering the current firmware’s user experience.
Jupiter X model should be from start. It is really good, really! Especially with editor. It is good synth from Roland. I hope new model will be arrive, please JD990 and D70, and SH5.
A question on the specs : why still not an audio class compliant/generic mode on Roland’s high end products for flexibility, iOS/iPadOS integration and longevity ?
One of the great selling points and why I love the Zen-Core and Cloud products, is the ability to design and work on sounds on my PC. I can then later move them to my Jupiter-X when I am ready to perform or create tracks. With other expansion models the interface is there for me to work on in my DAW. This is not available with the native engines for the Jupiter and Juno-X. That interface seems to be only available when I can connect to the Jupiter and use the editor software. My wish lists would certainly include being able to edit the Jupiter-X as an expansion model. That and adding new expansion models we could purchase as well. The Jupiter-X is such a terrific tool that has so much potential as more than just a synth, but a window to an expanded universe. I love mine!!
Please Roland can we have some new instructional videos on the X and Xm. I really love my Xm but have come close to selling it a few times as I know I’m not using it to the fullness of its capacity. Getting some updated videos on general use, synthesis and patch creation, the arpeggiator, step sequencer, effects section, programming a drum pattern and other bread and butter features would be amazing.
Nice. I hope they have a nice big update for the mv-1 verselab as well. Is my Samsung S9 chip to weak for the Zenbeat App, it ain't working. Got the feeling mv-1 can be so much more.
Question regarding the Model Jupiter X : if one buys a Juno X and the Jupiter Model expansion, does he inherit of the new Jupiter X model with the additional OSCs, PWM/LFO parameters ? If I look at the support web site, it looks like it’s a Jupiter 8 only as far as the model expansion is concerned, but I’m not sure if it is the sad reality or un updated documentation.
And in other upgrade news: According to the quality of the vocal recording on this video; the Casio SK1 apparently now has a sample time of nearly 12 minutes. 🙉🙉🙉🙉
That is great, though I thought that normal (not i-) arpeggios were already grid-editable . My question is, does the arpeggio react to external midi-input, and can it send generated midi-notes to the midi-out, so I could use the jupiter xm as an excruciatingly expensive arpeggiator ?
Hi, I also have a Roland Jupiter-X. Do I have to install all firmware updates one after the other (cumulative) or can I install the latest version directly?
Between Jupiter X and Xm, what is the trade off other than less keys. Are they mirror image? I want to use my RD-88 as a controller for this setup. Any concerns with these two being connected?
Hola buenas a ver si me haceis una fusion del Jupiter XM y el JD xi con version MK 2,con patrones de 128 step,8 partes con una multipistas para samplers..bien animo con todas las cosas y vayamos todos con alegrias y felicidades...
I’d buy one that had no sounds of its own and could be used as a midi controller for Roland cloud. Synth is redundant in studio and who wants to lug that thing around
This is great... but what about the delivery delays? I bought a Jupiter X in the UK in April with the promised delivery for mid May. Now the retailer is saying Roland will only deliver in August or later. What's up Roland???
I don't think that's necessarily true. The ACB modeling in the System-8 is way more authentic to the original synths. I suspect Roland has put ACB on the back burner for now (although the new volca things use it).. until they get the next generation of their BMC chips with more cores. Ultimately ACB will become more prevalent again. There's 3x the processing power in the System-8 compared to the Jupiter-X.. It would certainly be nice to see more polyphonic plugouts released though.. Jupiter 4 and Jupiter 6 in ACB seem no brainers.. In a System-16 there's no reason they couldn't combine ACB plugouts with 1 BMC chip for Zen Core, and then implement a crossover system like in the JD-XA..
On your unit, the display, which looks like a sluggish outdated LCD display rather than a modern crisp OLED, is slightly crooked, which leaves me wondering about the build quality of this $4K instrument? Roland, certainly not made in Japan anymore but rather in China like everybody else with Chinese quality control, but at premium prices.
When is Roland going to make a decent software editor? For all of your "zencore" should have an interface like Overbridge. Elektron is making Roland look like a giant dinosaur. Instead, we get crippled software that has to dial home in order to sell sample packs, i don't want for my hardware drum machine or synthesizer, WTF? Too many middle management Roland!!!
Too many middle men making decision$ you need more/better software engineers. Your hardware boxes are great, your integration with computers and tablets is HORRIBLE/non-existent, much room for improvement!

I love this guy, he really explains things clearly, and of all the reviews of this new update, this is by far the easiest to understand!

This new module sounds big and it's wonderful addition. Upgrading the user tones and scenes memory was very importent! Well done 👍
Just awesome thanks Roland...hope the updates keep getting bigger and bigger like the sound

I’ll second this. I just got my Xm and an updated manual and/or set of revised videos would be invaluable.
Agreed
Stupid question, where do i see which version i have?
I see you Roland!!! 🥸 Jupiter-X OS update! Juno-X around the corner!! Nice work! Can’t wait until my Juno-X gets here!!

I love that every Roland synthesizer always has its own unique features and its own unique sound that make it stand out.
I´m so escited to get my Fantom 8 and hook it up to my Jupiter X. Pretty sure it´s an awesome compinatin.
I love that 4 Osc string patch you play at the beginning. Reminds of something a Japanese composer would play.

Roland has the best-sounding digital synths on Earth. These machines far surpass their analog forbears.

At 5:00 you mention, that the Jupiter 8 model finally has velocity. Where is this parameter located? I checked the new reference manual without avail.

Can we get Fantom-8 sequencer update to have full features of Fantom-G sequencer... (or at least make 99,999 steps in a phrase sequencing!)
