I love your roomba comment. I love mine and I got mine “broken” for free at a yard sale! The issue is the woman never cleaned it so the battery wasn’t being recognized by the machine since the little metal pieces were so dirty. It saves my life since I have a three month old taking up my time.
I love you Cass! My house is ALWAYS organized, never cluttered and to the people on the outside, it looks clean. Is it deep cleaned? No. Is it spring cleaned? No. But it always looks neat, tidy and clean. I agree with you…it doesn’t take long to do what I call “quick clean” Quick clean is when I use a swiffer duster to dust. Quick clean is when I use a swiffer mop. Deep cleaning is when I use a microfiber cloth and I get it wet. Deep cleaning is when I get my spin mop out and my bucket and I put, Dawn dish soap and pine-sol or Murphy’s oil soap with hot water in the mopping bucket. I have two cats in my house and two other cats on my front porch. My animals do not prevent me from keeping my house clean. If I’m watching a show and I have chores I need to get done in my home, I use the commercials to jump up and get something done. Most commercials are about three minutes long sometimes four minutes, and you would not believe what I can get done and that 3 to 4 minutes of a commercial. You are correct Cass, I am always in shock how quickly I can get tasks done. Are they perfect? No. Are they white glove inspection clean? No. I do deep clean my house a couple of times a year, but I have found that my method of quick cleaning keeps my house, looking organized, clean, and fresh everyday. There is no such thing as perfect and perfectionism can destroy you start where you are and anything that you put a little bit of effort into is good enough. that’s the message I’ve learned to accept in my brain. Is that quick clean is good enough.
Love her too! Been following her pretty much from day one when she did daycare in her home. Her channel l name was maltose 759 or something??? Loved what she said about brain dumping. I do that to my lists are long just to get it out of my head and only do a 3 to 5 things in my list a day.
@@Myeverydaywifelife I've been doing the brain dump also, then putting most important items from brain dump on list for that specific day. It has helped me tremendously to 1) get stuff accomplished and 2) reduces stress because I wrote it down and now I don't have to remember it.
My house is clean, organized, and no clutter, but not minimalist. Same as my landscape and garage. It’s just what makes me comfortable. I really can’t stand messes. I watch Cass to try to understand disorganized people
"Keep up so you don't have to catch up." Best phrase ever!!! BTW...While listening to this podcast, I put away my dishes from last night, washed my dishes from this morning, folded a load of laundry and took a shower. I'd say I did good enough! For now!!
Don’t sweat the small stuff!! Clean a room in 5 mins. 👏 you are fabulous. There is no such thing as the UA-cam Police knocking on your door saying “Hey Cass did you clean each room in 5 mins?? Handcuff time!! It’s a free service you are giving. I am so grateful for your ADHD help around the house. Please stop explaining yourself . Love your work. You Rock. I took less than 5 mins to write this. Wooohooo.
I have been feeling unmotivated and slacking on many things in the house. I watched the podcast and was laying in bed avoiding the start of the day. As soon as you said get up and get something done I grabbed my AirPods and got in the kitchen. Kitchen is now done went through some mail and shredded it. I’m feeling better. Thank you so much.
I grew up in a spotlessly clean house. It seemed effortless for my mother. My friends thought we had a maid. For years I was able to maintain a clean and tidy home. As I have aged and acquired health issues, I seem to have lost my motivation, but you are helping me regain my momentum. Thank you.
That's where I am now. I've finally accepted that as we age we slow down (not always by choice) and so things are going to take a little longer do. The funny thing is that I always used to deliberately overestimate task time length to 'surprise' myself with all the free time I had managed to accumulate and now, decades on, it takes me the full time or more than it used to in order to complete those same tasks. I always knew this age would come but it took me so very long to accept the fact. 😂
I like to speed clean during commercials when watching my favorite shows. It's like a race and it's amazing how much you can do in that amount of time.
“Done is better than perfect” has helped so much. And being willing to do a just a little bit something instead of waiting until I can do it all. Putting away a few pieces of laundry at a time, tidying a few things in the room, wiping clean a few things in the room. It’ll make things easier for future self.
Cas, you changed my life with lessons like this. I used to rarely clean (so gross) because I believed it had to be done a certain way (for hours). Since I couldn’t do that, I didn’t do it at all. Now that I’ve decluttered, with your help, I can keep my house clean and I gave myself permission to do an ok job, which you taught me. And doing an ok job has made my house guest-worthy all the time. I don’t want to spend my life clinging to impossible standards and giving up on myself. You inspired me, and continue to inspire me, to care for myself and my home and it’s brought so much joy to my life. Thank you. ❤
As you have taught us, "organize for the space you have, not the stuff you have." Same goes for time & chores. Fit the chores into the time you have. Don't allow the abundance of chores to dictate your time.
Part of intentionality is not letting yourself get distracted from the task at hand, getting distracted is ALL TOO EASY TO DO!!! Thanks so much, Cass!❤
I love that you genuinely listened to your viewers, hate that it made you second guess yourself. You have been doing this for a long time and know what you are talking about. I started following you when I became a SAHM (7ish years ago - can’t believe it’s been that long) and your methods are solid and helped make this housekeeping experience a joy to me. I can tidy our entire home in 15 -20 mins because I purge and decluttering regularly per your recommendation. When I don’t keep up with my morning and night routines like you suggest it may take a little longer but your system works! When I feel overwhelmed and can’t clean quickly it’s my sign to purge and declutter. When you say you can clean your home that quickly, I believe you!
In one of your videos some time ago, you said to take short cuts, that it’s ok to cut corners for the sake of the bigger picture of succeeding, that if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing even a crappy job than not doing it at all. …I’ve struggled with perfectionism, and even though by that time I had renounced perfectionism and tried not to live by it, I didn’t know how much that affected my heart and the failure mentality I had related to cleaning and housework. You and Dana taught me that 5 minutes of progress IS a success, rather than only success as a perfectly completed job. Later I wrote on my board “done is better than perfect”. This has made a huge difference in my home, but more importantly, it’s made a huge difference in my heart and in my attitude. I’m not a failure. Thank you!
Cas, I find you so inspirational and I love the way you keep it real. I always listen to you while I'm cleaning. I'm a single mom to a 15 year old boy, I work 48 hours a week. Work starts at 4 am. and all the responsibilities of home fall on me. To say I'm exhausted is an understatement. I'm definitely guilty of comparing myself to others and beating myself up because other women work and keep a clean house, why can't I? Last month I rented a very large dumpster and cleaned out my garage and 2 sheds. Today, I did a little trash bag therapy and filled 2 trash bags. My house still is not perfect by any means but I'm making progress in baby steps and I owe it all to you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Cas is awesome for giving us the knowledge, the ideas, techniques and tools to be able to help ourselves.... Just remember you were the one who worked their butt off making progress on your goals. You were the one who wanted the change, found out what/how to do and then did it! It feels great to be able to use the tools and ideas from Cas and others to make a difference in your life doesn't it! Progress and momentum! Give yourself grace for finishing your goals, you can get there! It's OK to celebrate the things others may see as small, what matters is you made progress on something you wanted/needed to do. If it makes a difference, even just 1% better, then it's important. After all big changes are just many little changes combined. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
@@dotcassilles1488 Cas really is awesome and she is right, once you take that first step, you just want to keep going. Thank you for your kind words! God Bless!
If you have a 15 year old in your home, then it sounds like he can be helping out. I had to help do dishes every day, vacuum, sweep and take out trash, clean my room every Saturday starting about the age of 12. Plus helping with chores outside daily. I hope you are delegating some tasks to your son to prepare him for life when he is on his own and to give you some needed rest!
@kimwilliams1284 Congratulations! You have accomplished so much already! Allow yourself to feel good about what you've done and give yourself grace for when you feel like you've fallen short. Blessings to you 🙏🏼
Cas ..i hope you know how u really changed people's lives ..i am one of them . I swear to u if all moms would teach us what ur teaching us we would have skipped the sterss for many years and the thinking that we r un organized loosers ..ur my hero ❤️. If at any time i felt overwhelmed..i just open on of ur videos and listening to ur voice ony helps me get rid of my anxiety. Ur a gift of God. Ur amazing
I'm with you on quickly cleaning and doing it consistently so that your place looks fine, but not perfect, all the time. If I do that, I'm never embarrassed when people just stop by.
Yep! Imagine reading the story of your own life and it says "my house is dirty and I want to craft/ run etc but I binge watch Netflix again" ...On every page. 😮
Cas, i love having you as my virtual neighbor! Your podcasts have been so helpful, I just relate so much. Soft life/slowing down/ hitting the most important tasks and letting go of guilt- so on board ❤ Thank you for showing up for us, i really appreciate you!
You're so motivating. Started listening while getting changed after a shower. Before i know it my bathroom and bedroom are clean and i look up at the mirror and discover i did it all while naked. Definately not normal for me. A little easily distracted!
Hi Cas!!! I can say that yes it is possible!!! My house was eating me alive 😭 but i started doing a lil bit everyday while listening to your podcast... Now it feels effortless and fast i can get done within an hour... ❤❤❤❤ You have help me and now i have time for a hobby and to relax with my family 😊😊😊😊
Cass, you are such an inspiration! I sat down to listen to your video, and as soon as you said to get up and do something, I did! I took my iPad to the kitchen and continued to listen (and to watch occasionally) as I loaded the dishwasher and then handwashed the items that don’t go in it. I had everything done before you finished your video! I’m 77 and sometimes think I don’t have the energy to do something; but by reframing the task into manageable portions, I realize that I can accomplish anything I want to do. It doesn’t matter how fast I get it done, just that I get it started. The rest will take care of itself. As you quoted the basic physics principle, an object in motion tends to stay in motion. Thanks again and goodbye for now. I have work to do!
Cleaned my bedroom while listening. Time just flew. It’s not perfect but wow the 30 minutes really make a difference. Thank you for sharing your motivation.
So interesting. I’m recently on a journey to simplify my family’s home & lifestyle and I felt like I needed to get a timer to start figuring out how I’m spending my time to make sure it actually aligns with what we say we want for our lives! I’ve thought about this here and there over the years, but just a couple of days ago, I ordered a timer from Amazon! i just stumbled across this podcast and my timer is set to arrive tomorrow! I’m excited! . ‘…how long does it take? …do you really know? because until you really know, how could you possibly do proper time management?’ That part. 🎤
Good enough is definitely good enough for me. My house looks clean and doesn't take huge effort....I have learned a lot over the years....and am still learning....
I love the passion behind this. Life is too short to feel overwhelmed by all the stuff and chores! I love cleaning now because it truly feels like I’m maintaining a home that I’m so so proud of having. Love you Cas! ❤
(writing from my husband's account) Thank you, Cas! I was totally dreading cleaning my kitchen, but I took your advice and put a load of dishes in the dishwasher. It took less than 15 minutes! I also have ADHD and time blindness...I tend to overanalyze everything, and I thought cleaning would take me forever! It really helped me to break it down into chunks. Thanks!!!
I needed to listen to this today. I've spent the last three years completing my bachelor's degree while working full time and finishing raising my three adult sons (who still live at home). My house as been neglected, but that is changing. I have also stepped up from assistant teacher to lead teacher in the same classroom, so I am working on getting a classroom/office ready as well! The class/office stuff is easier since I am not attached to most of that. Just today I spent 2 hours cleaning, purging, and organizing one cupboard of things (my former boss was not organized and is somewhat of a hoarder). Thankfully I had already organized quite a bit during the pandemic, but there is still soooo much to do. One day at a time. My goal is to take that momentum from the classroom/office into my home and just purge items. I am a crafty person, but there are things that I just don't do anymore and my priorities have changed. Time for that stuff to go. I needed the tough love to just get moving. One habit at a time. I used to use the all or nothing approach and I am changing my tune and doing what I can when I have a few moments. THANK YOU!!!
Hi there….your sooo much younger my dear girl….from a lady in her 60+ years [+ my body has complains too] Your sooo right a complete clean is different [and we all know it won’t last] the more people help the less time it takes. I find spot cleaning easier, JUST DO SOMETHING ….l do clean by music a song l love, l put [the music] it on and go …this works for me. Please please all women take time for yourselves, what l mean is take breaks, the whole job is too much. Baby steps, slow but sure, just like the turtle it can work.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Spot on! Sixty is waiting at my elbow to pounce and with one thing or another slow and sure, bit by bit is the only way to do it without doing a mischief to myself (or to something or someone else!). The chronic fatigue is still something I'm trying to come to terms with at the moment, the speed cleaning thing is not really an option so you are absolutely right, slow and steady wins the day. 😊
I PACK my dishwasher full, and started a timer while you were talking about that and it took me 7 minutes and 11 seconds. I don’t move super fast because I break things that way…but I usually break it in half if I’m in a time crunch, so I will empty the bottom and stick the dirty stuff in the bottom to clear my sink and counters. Thank you for your kick butt motivational podcasts. I absolutely love how you push us!
I love you, Cas! You talk to the whole gamut of people who need this. From the person who can't get off their couch to those of us on our way and to those who have worked hard to master these things! Thank you!
I learned that timers are the best way to get me to do stuff. I say you’ve got 10 minutes to clean. And when it's done I have to move on. Now I’m consistent (so it’s cleaner than if I had to force myself to do the whole thing) and it no longer has to feel like it needs to be perfect. Win/win.
I appreciate your constant reminder in this video, "It's easier to keep up than to catch up." Our carpet it gross and I ask for help and don't get it and I don't want my back to go out for two days, so it sits. That's even when I just do part of the space and not the whole thing. I need to save up for a robot vacuum or find a super lightweight carpet vacuum. I watched your speed cleaning video last week. So awesome! I love the Hot Lava for flat surfaces and as a family of two Butterfly-Bee combo, I'm not sure we can do that extensively. The Hot Lava is still a wonderful visual/sensory reminder to put things away and I've been using it that way to some success. Thanks for all you do!
I realized something that truly amazed me and it's basically wht you say - I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and being 67 I have health problems that can prevent me from doing a lot at a time - have been decluttering slowly for the past year and 1/2 - there are days I go thru bouts that I don't do much of anything (always said I was a huge procrastinator - now I realized it was from ADHD) but I live by myself also - well someone was coming over to take me shopping and I knew she would be coming into my house and it needed to be picked up - since I have been decluttering I didn't have to worry about that but I was able to clean kitchen/dining room/living room and vacuum in 1-1/2 hrs (which would have been probably 3 hrs before) and then it hit me what you have been saying - I also have time blindness and didn't think I could do it - but it was amazing!! and I listen to a lot of channels about decluttering/hoarding/etc.... but you are my favorite of all of them and have learned so much - also when I watch you and maybe 1 other channel I get in the mood to do my own house - thank you for all that you do to help others and also inspire me to get off my duff and do my own work!
I did what you said and set the timer to unload the dishwasher. Just under 3mins to both unload and load. You are so right that more often than not, we put off doing something b/c we think it's gonna take forever when it really won't take long at all. Love you and your channel Cas!
Actually, I have since, been motivated to keep up with my house 5 minutes per room. I'm even decluttering with you! Don't listen to negative people. They're just jealous that you have a following and platform they don't.
Yes, I did get my kitchen spruced up and the surfaces wiped off and the counters wipe down and decided on the next place. I’m going to go now that your podcast is done! Thanks, Cass, you inspire this 71 year year-old California Bamaw with some great frequency!❤
I thought about this... I planned my wedding. I had a notebook, kept track of appointments, planning the honeymoon, booking a hotel, etc..... we plan vacations.... I needed to hear you say, "Plan to clean your garage 😮You're exactly right. I need to set a date with my garage and husband.❤
Yes! 5 and 10 minute increments are huge! I found I get alot done like that. Works great for me. Deep cleaning each room happens 1-2 times a year. Just done that, 1 room a day to deep clean. 6 days. So 6 days 2 times a year to deep clean. Keeping everything put in its place is huge too. That’s right, it’s harder to catch up. Keep up🎉 That’s key! Yes, simplify! I love my cozy home. Keeping up❤
I love that you'll show the actual cleaning ☺ Great idea. (To me, btw, it was always obvious that you do it in a simplified way compared to those who claim it takes so much longer time)
All great points and tips Cass! That's my attitude now in my 50's (my house was a mess when my kids were young). I've decluttered (ongoing) and it's SO easy to clean a house with less stuff to move. I love it! We call this cleaning "a lick and a promise"! Looking clean is 80% clean. The baseboards can wait!
Thank you - I have learned so much from you! I do the dishes pretty much every night now, and the put them away when the coffee is brewing in the morning. I used to be such a perfectionist, but now I get a kick out of allowing myself to do things “the wrong way” - the point is that they are getting done!
LOL, I couldn't get that podcast off of my mind. I am a very organized and clean person and yet, there is no way in hell I could clean my house that fast. Yes, we all need to get rid of more clutter, but 1 1/2 hours? No way. Maybe I am too particular. Maybe your house was clean in the first place, because of your daily routines. I think you should ask Melissa Maker or Diane in Denmark what they think. Just a thought. I am excited to continue watching this as I haven't been able to stop thinking about it.
Cas, if it works for you, don’t worry about what other people say. Good enough is good enough - we are not striving for perfection, only progress. If your family is happy, ignore the rest 🧸
While I was watching I washed one of my windows inside and out. I used a swiffer and a rag on the outside because I'm on the second floor. I am so happy because I look out this window every morning as I meditate and it was really dirty. I didn't have to clean all my windows which is the mindset I used to have until I started following you. You are really helping me. This year I became disabled due to a back injury and I feel hopeful that I can still accomplish things in my home. And definitely LOVE my robot vacumn. I bought some at Walmart on black Friday for $69 for my adult kids and they love them!
Love these tips Cas! I timed emptying the dishwasher and it took me 7 mins. Then after dinner. I filled it and cleaned most of the kitchen in another 12 mins. Thanks for motivating me.
Dear Cass, I’m a new subscriber and I have enjoyed watching your videos. I have taken so much value from your tutorials and podcasts. Although I haven’t been formally diagnosed, it has been suggested by my therapist that I have ADHD. In fact I have been Named Have A Chat Jenny, by my friends. I not mention that I relate to being overwhelmed with tasks and as for time it just seems to vanish before me. Your suggestions are brilliant. Movement of any kind doesn’t gather momentum. So from a young 62 year old, thank you ever so much. ❤
I apply Dana K White's container concept to time, and apply it to both "frogs & ice cream". So every day I do these 2 frogs: 15 minutes of daily morning chores and 15 minutes of daily evening chores. I enjoy sewing and knitting, they are my ice cream. Knitting involves counting, so that daily minimum dish of ice cream is off the clock and X number of rows (about a morning news program worth). Sewing is a mininimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 90 minutes a day. With that I always know where I am in the current flow of creating my me-made wardrobe. We invite company over (ice cream) to give us a deadline for our big monthly chores (frogs). Cas, you have inspired a lot of this---remember your old "dirty thirty?" That would be a great idea to review in a podcast! Thanks! ❤
Thank you Cass!!! I've been thinking about time lately and how too time manage everything while putting a load on, then that's on, do some thing else!!! Im going too time myself!!! Thank you Cass, thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
The thing that takes the most of your time is the preparation before the real cleaning (decluttering, putting things away in the place their supposed to be, dusting, vacuming) you also have to move some things before you can start cleaning surfaces. When you count these things in your cleaning process, it takes a long time. The procrastination is a strange thing. I so hate vacuming that I spend more time thinking about how much I hate it instead of doing it. I love your Psychology about it, timing a few minutes and once you are doing it you want to do more.
This is so good! I love your podcast! I feel like you are my twin! I resonate with this so much. I’m applying a lot of this already and it feels good to hear someone else is similar minded. I’m hard on myself a lot. And being a homemaker I sometimes feel I have to be super busy or doing elaborate home projects to show others I’m productive.
It’s NOT impossible IF your house is picked up. Try going into your cleaning as if you were a professional cleaner. This way you don’t notice something out of place. YOU are “just” cleaning! You “are not” doing this wrong! Hugs ❤
Found you by searching for body doubling and I am so thankful i managed to clear up and de clutter so much. My room has been a clean up job for more years than i care to remember but today i feel ive achieved heaps and learnt about identity clutter so much of what you said resonates with me. Thanks for keeping me company! 😊
You are changing my life for the better, thank you so much. I am binging your channel along with Minimal Mom and That Practical Mom. Cleaning and organizing is becoming less daunting. I think by conquering these daily must-dos, I will feel more capable of completing the things I actually want to do like projects and crafts that have been put off for years.
Your podcast really has motivated and helped me not just decluttering but in all my goals. I love your tough love because it’s only with that mentality does stuff get done. Thanks Cass.
I have a lot of physical limitations, but the decluttering piece is what has made the difference. And 5 to 15 minute chunks works! It adds up, and you will see a difference.and you do feel good! The time starting is usually a catalyst to do more. Thank you, Cass!
While listening to this: Got dressed, Cleaned bathroom counter and toilet, Dusted all surfaces with lambswool duster, washed breakfast dishes. got out vacuum and even got a short rest waiting for podcast to finish! Will quickly vacuum and mop now and race my stopwatch on clock app! 😊Once again, thanks for the inspiration Cass! 🎉 woo hoo!
That totally makes sense that a person can clean a room in 5 mins. and a different person can take 30 mins. I dust every ledge and surface. Above the door ledge and all floor boards. And vacuum the entire floor. And clean glass/windows and mirrors. That will be good to actually see how much you do when you clean. I will look forward to that podcast. I like watching these. It keeps me motivated.
It will be interesting to see this. I am still decluttering, but I'm not new to thr idea of timing myself, making a list beforehand and making sure Im being efficient when I was working in a kitchen. So maybe I'm just feeling like I should be doing deeper cleaning or something. Either way I would expect a professional to be thorough.
I just listened to this podcast and as it started I started deep cleaning our bathroom after the first wave of decluttering we did three weeks ago. I kept putting it off and thought it will take me hours. How shocked was I when I realized that I finished two minutes before you finished talking. I loved this, principle demonstrated in action, thank you very much ❤
Thank you for your inspiring podcast, Cas. Time management has always been a problem for me - especially when it comes to meal preparation. I rarely feel like cooking. I am better at it now because I found meals I enjoy as well as quick and easy ways to make them. My biggest issue is knowing how long it takes to prepare whatever it is. I’m an expert at underestimating the time it takes. Using a timer will make the process easier ❤
Thank you for this!! I have been so down and overwhelmed with my to-do list. Luggage was unpacked. Laundry. Clothes away and fresh sheets on the bed during two of your videos!!!
I'm REALLY new to your channel, but I wanted to share that I've started chanting, "The surfaces are lava" to myself. ^_^ My house is really really gross, so I started with a 3 ft section of countertop. It's a spot I use 4+ times a day, every day. Took me over an hour to FULLY clean it. 😅But at the end, everything had a home and everything had been wiped down. My focus since then is keeping that space clear. Anything dropped off is immediately put away. No waiting for "later!" I made a dessert this weekend that required multiple tools and bowls. As soon as the dessert went in the fridge I cleaned everything I used and wiped the counter down. That's unheard of for me! I'm pretending the volcano erupted from that spot and the lava is slowly spreading as I'm slowly expanding the clean/clear area. 😂I dunno if it will stick with me or not, but I like the idea of having a central starting point that I can go back to if the *ahem* lava cools and stuff starts to pile up again.
Thank you soooo much! I just cleaned part of a blind for15 minutes! You are soooo right about not overwhelming ourselves. I’m an all or nothing gal. Love you❤
Thanks Cass! It took me 1.10min to take the rubbish out! And I walked slow! I alway s use my dog escaping as an excuse to let the rubbish bin wait to be empty! It took me 2.30mins to fill a basket and put a load of washing on! I now have a list on my fridge! Great idea. Thank you so much x
Unfortunately I am a perfectionist that lives in clutter bc of time management issues. Yes I have ADHD, diagnosed less than 1 years ago. I’m in my 50’s but finding out explained the “why’s” to so many questions I’ve had all my life. A huge THANK YOU for the content you and Dawn aka The Minimal Mom provided. I am slowing seeing a change in the way I do things and in what I buy. I’m either listening to you or Dawn anytime I am working on my to do list. I love your tips on time management and I’ve also started writing a brain dump so I don’t forget to do it - some day. Love you and thanks again for what you do! 💕
Cass I love this honest and open conversation. Trying to do it perfect can lead into even procastination. Thank you for also timer ⌛ trick. İ am gonna time myself to figure out how long something takes me to complete because I am also time blind.
I listened to your last podcast, after I decluttered the heck out of my house. Surfaces are now hot lava as you suggested, cleaned my main livening areas (2beds, 1bath, living room, art room, kitchen and hallway/stairs) done in 30 mins with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. I have an ADHD husband, so house looked like a tornado ran through it before I started. Honestly my best decluttering rule was does it have a home? If no and I don’t need it to stay alive it goes in the bin, done, over, my house is clean 😊 perfectionism can bite me coz I’m happy with my house.
I love this podcast and now that I’m watching - 4 months later - I’m going to find that video! I’m blessed in that my spouse also does a LOT of the cleaning around here, as he should. Sadly, for some reason, a lot do not. Anyhow, I’ve been doing a lot of declutterring lately to help us really spiffy up the place and you are delightfully inspiring. My son has a Roomba and boy! That thing is amazing!!! He has a dog with long hair that sheds a lot. So that Roomba is a true life saver. I’m thinking maybe we should get one 🧐
I’m with you Cas! Don’t listen to all of the cleaning purists out there! They don’t get us! lol I used to be one of them but then my protectionism made me not do stuff because I wasn’t going to do it “right” since finding the Cleaning Trinity, you, Dawn and Dana lol my mantra has been just do it shitty when I heard you say that I lightbulb came on in me head! And now I don’t time myself but I try to do it in one song one one video or by the time the airfryer gets done lol I always try to race something that has a time tuning out lol I try to time myself but always forget to stop the timer so this opposite way has really worked for me! Love you! Thanks for being so wonderful and again dont let those comments make you feel like you are giving false advice because you are not you’re just being real and that’s why we all love you!!! At least the ones of us with spicy brains that done work like other peoples lol 🫶💗
Absolutely agree with 100% about the breaking it down I reset my bathroom in my kitchen every night and minutes but when you go into someone’s house and they’re Client and they’re paying you to clean their entire house that to me is a deep clean and probably over clean, but I have to move everything wipe everything down wipe all the surfaces clean all the floors clean all the tile in the it just depends on the house. I guess what I’m saying is Deep cleaning the house in an hour and a half but breaking down tasks in minutes wiping down the bathroom is not deep cleaning the bathroom in my opinion but anyway I just wanted to say that I love you. You’re great you’re my fave and I hope commenting on the last podcast didn’t upset u❤❤
You are amazing Cas! So much great realistic ACTIONABLE advice all rolled into one video! I love that you gave very clear examples of what you meant. So much of the time, time management tips are so vague!
Thank you for doing this video Cass, You Are A Rockstar Lady. I also have ADHD and take medicine for it but find myself still getting myself looking at the "whatever it may be.. big whole picture of it" and dissecting details and essentially talking myself out of the actual doing it part, and the motivation is there for the part it's done, but I am pretty positive that breaking it down to even just 5 minute increments is going to be the way to get the stuff I want and need to get done, so thank you and saying it straight up and real, so all of us who know who we are that can struggle with procrastinating, are reminded we all deal with it some more than others but here's another way to tackle it!! 😊
One of the things I think parents forget to teach is breaking down tasks. Starting this when you start working on the kids with chores. What's the first thing you do when making the bed? Where's the vacuum? What toys should we start with putting away first? I don't write a list. I add it to Tasks on Google and if it turns out I don't have time that day, I reschedule it. Almost everything goes at 8 am the next day and I sort it from there. It feels so good to mark it complete!
I did a bulk of my junk mail that had piled up for months, during watching this video! That's a huge win for me! I'm feeling super motivated! Thank you!❤
I love your roomba comment.
@@dianalanden8129 Exactly!!
My house is clean, organized, and no clutter, but not minimalist. Same as my landscape and garage. It’s just what makes me comfortable. I really can’t stand messes. I watch Cass to try to understand disorganized people
I could never toss clean clothes into bins…… folding clothes and putting them away attractively makes me happy
"Keep up so you don't have to catch up." Best phrase ever!!!
BTW...While listening to this podcast, I put away my dishes from last night, washed my dishes from this morning, folded a load of laundry and took a shower. I'd say I did good enough! For now!!
Good advice. She did a live video recently where she discussed how to get caught up. It was so motivating!
Perfection = temporary... Good enough lasts longer.
Blessings, Dot
SAME!! She is for sure the motivation I need daily!! 🤣💕
Yes, thank you Cass! Please keep making this videos. I need and love your firmness with us 😆 but seriously, it helps. Thank you so so much
Same!
I can't get up and do anything. I just got into a salt bath. But I will do something as soon as I get out 😅
How did she do it?
All you need is one life-element to change for perfection to become impossible imo... G Ire
I like to speed clean during commercials when watching my favorite shows. It's like a race and it's amazing how much you can do in that amount of time.
That's what I do. It's amazing how much I can get done.
Awesome sauce ❤
“Done is better than perfect” has helped so much. And being willing to do a just a little bit something instead of waiting until I can do it all. Putting away a few pieces of laundry at a time, tidying a few things in the room, wiping clean a few things in the room. It’ll make things easier for future self.
Me too. Done is better than perfect.
agreed, progress, not perfection!
Your mantra is correct...things in motion, stay in motion, and things in rest, stay in rest. Very relatable and good thing to remember!!
Loved what you said about keeping up so you don’t have to catch up ❤
In one of your videos some time ago, you said to take short cuts, that it’s ok to cut corners for the sake of the bigger picture of succeeding, that if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing even a crappy job than not doing it at all. Thank you!
I love how real you are. The bit about Roombas was so real.
God Bless!
Sounds like you are rocking it to me! Give yourself the credit you would give a friend!
Blessings to you 🙏🏼
I love how you say we have to CREATE our OWN MOTIVATION !!!
Soft life/slowing down/ hitting the most important tasks and letting go of guilt- so on board ❤
Thank you for showing up for us, i really appreciate you!
Love 'virtual neighbor'. That's what Cas feels like. 😊
Yes🌹We can eat an elephant one bite at a time🥰
5:50-- "We're gonna start with the breaking down"
Way ahead of ya, I break down every day! 😭
Cleaned my bedroom while listening. Time just flew. It’s not perfect but wow the 30 minutes really make a difference. Thank you for sharing your motivation.
I needed this because this week I was NOT MOTIVATED. I always go back to some of your videos to get moving.
Thank you!
I have learned and continue to learn. My house is not there yet but getting closer.
Thanks!!!
Yes! Way to go.
Sounds like you have 3 full time jobs. I think you are doing great.
Thank you!
"Who the heck's eating off a toilet?" 🤣 💯%True!
😂
I learned that timers are the best way to get me to do stuff. I say you’ve got 10 minutes to clean. And when it's done I have to move on. Now I’m consistent (so it’s cleaner than if I had to force myself to do the whole thing) and it no longer has to feel like it needs to be perfect. Win/win.
Always challenge myself with a timer to get stuff done .. Great tip
I always enjoy your videos! I’m one of your Clutterbug fans that stays til the end. I love the gems you share.
You're amazing! Thank you for all the tips. What really hit home to me is when you said that it's easier to keep up than catch up.
“Sometimes we feel motivated now and then”. But if you ignore it, the feeling will pass 😂😂
😂
Keeping up❤
You make so much sense Cass. Love how you break everything down. ❤
I can't wait for the main channel video! Much love.
I love that you'll show the actual cleaning ☺ Great idea.
(To me, btw, it was always obvious that you do it in a simplified way compared to those who claim it takes so much longer time)
That's the word of the year....Intention! Thank you Cas, such realistic tips that actually work. 💜
As the 1st Commercials were playing.I gave you a thumbs up.Because I know everything you say is FABULOUS ❣️❣️❣️
Cass, you have no idea how much you have helped me and continue to help me change my life. ❤
My video comes out this Tuesday. I have a feeling you are going to cringe at the shortcuts I take! 🫢
Thanks Cass! Love ur show! Love your advice. It all makes So much sense. And i Live your sense of humor! It is delightful
Sometimes adequate is good enough.
Wow! We hate emptying the dishwasher sooo much, that it feels like 15 minutes! But it's really only 3? That makes it feel so much better!!!
Put on your favorite song and see if you can empty it before the song ends. We each have fun with it.
This is a nice message. Thank you. ❤
It sounds like you are doing a more heavy duty cleaning which takes longer than a spot clean.
Today I learned what being intentional means. I already know that this will make a difference! This and breaking down tasks. Thanks Cas!
Thank you for this!! I have been so down and overwhelmed with my to-do list. Luggage was unpacked. Laundry. Clothes away and fresh sheets on the bed during two of your videos!!!
Thank you Cass for all your help- you have been and continue to be a life saver for many!
You are delightful to listen to! You are so kind in the manner you deliver your message. A soul with integrity. Thank you for doing what you do! Cindy
Thank you soooo much! I just cleaned part of a blind for15 minutes! You are soooo right about not overwhelming ourselves. I’m an all or nothing gal. Love you❤
Just did dishes while listening to this video…well done, Cassandra! Tough love goes a long way to success xo
Wow, Cass! This is one of the best practical and motivating videos I have ever heard. Thanks for the inspiration. This makes so much sense to me.
Thank you for helping me do the washing up and give the kitchen cabinets a quick wipe down.
I am so glad this was helpful for you!
You gave me inspiration! I purged my bathroom drawers and cleaned it out. It took me about an hour, but it was worth it. Now I can find stuff
Thank you!❤
