My reaction to this boss was like “oh … *nervous cough* …. he’s real”
Tell me why my jaw dropped when he pulled up, I was not expecting the First Elden Lord to personally stop me from entering the Tree
When I saw him I was scared shitless, we saw statues of this guy. I was going through the game thinking he was long dead, an inspiration to the main character. Only for him to suplex me into a crater!

But Gael was a nameless undead who chose you to make the prophecy of ariandel come true and guided you to the ringed city to reach filianore and break her curse to send you hundred of years into the future amd fight him. He found out the pigmy lords blood dried up so he ate them in a last ditch effort to melt it and create the blood of the dark soul to paint a new world, even though he knew you would have to kill him cause he would not be able to get back to his lady

The fact that Lord’s Apparition literally lines up perfectly with Godfrey’s intro cutscene CANNOT be a coincidence dude.
Yeah if I had to guess they must have recorded it all as one track and split it into two songs.
I think it's because Lord's Apparition resolves on the same chord that Godfrey's OST starts. This is due to the fact that Lord's Apparition follows a similar chord progression to Godfrey's phase one, and music generally resolves on the same chord the song starts on.

yeah the thing is that, if you notice closely, you'll see that godfrey's main actual theme stats when he says his own name "Godfrey", at that exact word it starts and it like, carries and implies to the player how important and legendary that name is and you have the actual godfrey in front of you
Fun fact, both Radagon and Elden Beast's weakness is physical damage, if you never exist, Godfrey is once again the Elden Lord
Why can't we just step aside and let Godfrey be Lord again? Honestly being Elden Lord seems like a pain in the ass, someone else can go have all that responsibility lmao.

@@jellydamgood For all of Godfrey's badassery, if he were to return to the throne, everything leading up to the Shattering would probably repeat itself. Godfrey would never stop being a warrior first and foremost, and that's the reason he was banished in the first place. Honestly, dying like a warrior facing a worthy foe is probably for the best and I think he would've not chosen to die any other way.

It's the selfsame kids that never bothered to go look for him in all those long years, and the very selfsame kids that were prepared to kill him to stop his quest.
The first theme seems to be a tale, a myth passed for generations making the story something more "clean" the 2nd is like the war anthem of an army that would grab victory through blood and steel, and the last is the actual person behind the myth and the man who led the army a wild man who fights just for fighting sakes, not for glory or any other reason.
To be fair we dont actually know much of Godfrey's personality outside of fight or WHY exactly he took up the mantle of lord.
He is probably a bit more layerd then that and prob has motivation and desire beyond fighting but still had an enormous lust for battle and Horah Loux is his most primal self indgulgin form
@@Destroyer120296 That may be true but grafting another person just to restrain him is very telling of just how full of bloodlust he is and its not even another human but a beast man presumably more primal than humans and should more intune for fighting not only is Serosh mentally restraining Hourax Loux but we see the Model of Serosh biting and Holding him also physically restraining him.
It doesnt take away from the character his desire for fighting even gave Marika the will to even think of rebelling against the greater will as she seems to have hoped he would have freed her during the shattering.
For me the first one is like the lord of gold's ghost appearing. When he still had the golden tint in his eyes. to me, that says he was so powerful that the grace itself remembered his warrior spirit and recreated Godfrey the golden. Or it could just be another trick conjured by morgot because of his father being an idol for him and because it would put the fear of God into anyone if they knew who It was.
The second one is like the lord coming back for his final battle. To see which tarnished is strong enough to become ELDEN LORD. To me it just speaks how badass and strong Godfrey had to be.

@Brapples Serosh I believe was a King of Beasts, who upon defeat by Hoarah, became some kind of companion, and later a grafted shadow.
Lord's Apparition: Lord Godfrey, the heroic. Champion and Consort of Queen Marika. Together they brought peace and order to the Lands Between.
Godfrey, The First Elden Lord: The Warrior, who alongside Queen Marika conquered the Lands Between. Ending all resistance and threats to their kingdom, bringing peace through war.
Hoarah Loux: The Bloody Warrior, The Berserker. He who fights just to fight. To feel his opponents break and shatter before his might. Always seeking stronger and more powerful foes not for glory or honor but for the thrill of the fight
Hoarah Loux is essentially just Michael Myers but with an actual sane mind
I like how your first images of Godfrey are the portrait and his statues in Stormveil Castle, with this huge lion looming over him, and I thought at first that was just a metaphor for his nobility and his fighting spirit. Lol nope, he literally has a huge ghostly lion grafted to him to literally hold back his strength, cause even though he was just a regular human at first, he was still an absolute killing machine.

I'm gonna sound like a nerd but... Serosh was given to Godfrey to suppress his constant lust for battle. That was the whole purpose, because that sort of thought and behaviour isn't proper for a lord. And he knows that too. It's why he has that lion, so even though his emotions are supressed, he's still able to serve a nice can of whoop-ass... Sorry if that bursted your bubble, I don't mean to. So uuhhh... My bad

@@Gryphon_2006 Well here's how I see it. You are right about it suppressing his battle lust not necessarily his raw strength. But i think that kind of thing was something he needed to cast aside in order to actually give it his absolute all. After all are you really using your full strength if there are inhibitions holding you back? That's at least the most convincing argument I've heard really.
@@Gryphon_2006 You’re right that technically speaking it restricts his battle lust not his strength but the two are linked, as is made evidently clear when he discards serosh as he needs to get serious: plus physically speaking, the way serosh is onto him makes it look like he’s restraining him, so there’s probably a bit of that going on too I’d wager.

Favorite fight in the game. No overly delayed attacks, lots of adrenaline, and just a good old fashioned duel with little to no gimmicks.

Love how they implemented the jumping mechanic in the fight aswell, with jumping being the best choice to dodge Godfrey's stomps

I remember coming up to the tree after gideon for the first time and seeing this HULK of a being. At first thought his gold form was like his stand or something lmao
I still wish he had two separate healthbars, i feel like his second phase was too short
Hmm...
The Apparition is the memory of him told in the stories and books. Notes more the sacred than the domineering.
Phase one is the real deal. Notes more the regal and the pure force.
And obviously phase 2 is just "Welcome to the Viking Savanah, with your beloved host, Horah "shake-down" Loux, coming to paint white sand red!"
One really has to love both how perfectly fitting the little notes are at playing to the lore by building that atmosphere, and that you can still spply these songs more generally if you wish.
First reaction upon seeing Godfrey knowing that his Golden Shade was one of the best fights I’ve had in the game at that point: “Oh…how my blood boils!”
Also the Hoarah Loux part got me at the edge of my seat the first time I battled him. Seeing him powerbomb me across the arena got me cheering like when I witnessed dunks in an NBA match.
After fighting him for more than 10 hours in total, I’m gonna say this about the Godfrey fight overall: “This is the greatest duel of my life!”

It's hard to say if the Apparition is another Astral Projection from Morgott (especially given how much he proves he can do) or if Godfrey is doing some summoning stuff to gatekeep his home and protect his boy. Both cases make logical sense.
On another note, it's unreal to me how much the first track sounds straight out of the Bayonetta OST. Seriously. Listen to some of the Angel Boss themes and One Of A Kind, then Lord's Apparition, and tell me it doesn't belong in there.
It's Morgott's projection, you can see the same erdtree symbol under the projection of Godfrey as when Margit (Morgott) summons himself in the open world. Also Godfrey doesn't seem like the type of guy to know any magic.

Omg this dude is damn strong, I've been working up a theory that he caused that giant gash in the erdtree where the doorway inside is now. The attack where he lodged his axe and causes a huge rip in the ground. Perhaps marika needed another tree destroyed in order for hers to grow, but got scared that godfrey could probably destroy her tree too. So she sent him away for being too strong

@@syamimfikri8083tbh it isn't. grafting is one of the themes reinforced in the game, and it's a real life technique typically used on plants. even in the dlc trailer photo, we can see the husk of another tree growing over the erdtree. perhaps his theory isn't too far fetched. only time will tell
with what we have until now u might be at something with "another tree needed to be destroyed for Marika's one to grow"

Why else would the stormveil portrait portray him with the broken axe? If it was confirmed to have broken in the long march?
The Long March is how he and the other Tarnished *left* the lands between. Stormveil could have been a stopping point and they made a statue to commemorate that, alongside the painting, since his descendants ruled there.

Amazing mashup, my 2 favorite osts and my favourite boss in the game.
There was once a legend known throughout the land as the almighty " *earthquake man!* " he was inspired by the legendary tail of the mighty hercules! And found himself a lion ghost, that loyaly clong it self onto it's friends back, to loyaly aid him in any battle they came in contact with. Until the great and powerfull *earthquake man!* was made the 1st elden lord. then after becoming that he was given a better, and more fitting name. Named now as "Godfrey! the 1st elden lord" until he gave you "the tarnished" enough courtesy, as he puts it. And after killing his trusted lion ghost, he then becomes known as hoarah loux warrior!
I jus realized the two themes mash up PERFECTLY its the same song split into 2 parts absolute genius
Seeing him at the tree for the first time… all I could think was… ‘I’m in danger’ 😂

the character is cool but his fight was lame. i was expecting something badass to happen with the cool lion spirit but he just kills it and pretends to be zangief
The lion spirit is holding back his lust for battle, so he kills it to fight you as his true self. Even cooler than fighting serosh IMO
