As an Auburn fan this was actually classier than i thought it would be. He could have taken a little more responsibility but he did say he took responsibility on some level and did give Auburn's players credit for a game well played so I commend him for that.

"Two of (Late Miami Dolphin's veteran Jim) Mandich’s three sons, Nick and Michael, explained why their mild-mannered father developed such a dislike for Saban. Their father was a longtime team radio analyst, although his role during Saban’s two Miami seasons was as a radio talk-show host, when he was openly critical of the coach.
“My dad didn’t really have enemies,’’ Nick Mandich said. “But if you don’t respect him, he’s not going to respect you. ... The first time my dad saw Saban, it was in a hallway next to his office. He said ‘hi’ to him and Saban just walked right by and didn’t acknowledge him.’’
Michael Mandich said his father received a call after that encounter.
“His assistant called and said, ‘Please do not address coach Saban unless he addresses you first,’’’ Michael Mandich said. “My dad meant it when he said he would have fought him. He never really disliked somebody quite to that degree.’’’

Saban made a mistake with that field goal call. Basically his only mistake this season, and the stars just happened to align in Auburn's favor, and they capitalized on it. That's the name of the game.

So you're a bandwagon fan who started rooting for Bama when they started winning Championships all the time? Lol. I'm just messing there are a lot of people who want to be on the winning side. I'm an Auburn fan who was born and raised in Alabama and those are the most annoying, obnoxious fans that are in football.

  • @kurtdeibler
    @kurtdeibler 10 років тому +6

Saban is the best there is among college coaches, and this is from an Auburn fan. I don't care about his salty language on occasion, or part-time rough exterior. He is paid to do a job and that job is to win football games for Alabama. Everything else that surrounds him and his aura is just white noise. He knows what his job description is and he sticks to it. I followed Nick Saban since he was at Michigan State. He's not somebody's grand dad, he's not a pastor or preacher, he's not a social worker or therapist, or a diplomat. He's a football coach whose over-riding responsibility is to garner W's and championships for Alabama. He had done that outstandingly well.
So while I have a natural emnity for U of A as an Auburn fan, I'm not stupid. He has brought them back to glory and to the top of the CFB world, much to my chagrine...but not so much that I have anything personal against the man. Hell, I don't even know the man. I admire and respect Alabama for the continuing success that they have enjoyed under his direction, and in equal fashion, I admire and respect the man for his ability to generate that kind of success.
With all of that said, I am enthused and encouraged at what Gus Malzahn has accomplished with Auburn in such a short period of time. General doubts of his acumen as a perennial winner among the HC ranks among major programs in CFB are quickly evaporating. It's pretty clear that CGM is extremely able, intelligent, poised, focused, and talented. Taking a team that was 3-9 and transforming them into an 11-1 program in less than a year's time is attention-grabbing, to say the least. The respective Auburn - Alabama contests from 2011-2012 were uninspiring and unexciting, to say the least. My principle sentiment regarding the CGM era at AU is that the advent of blowout wins by either program over the other is essentially kaput--so long as both Saban and Malzahn are on opposite sidelines. I expect Alabama to remain an elite, top-tier program while under Saban. I equally expect Auburn to be with great consistency an outstanding, tough, successful, football power under Malzahn. The Iron Bowl lines for the foreseeable future should be extremely thin.

  • @williamrookwood3503

I blame the loss firstly on Saban for not kicking the field goal when he was in the red zone late in the fourth quarter. He should have brought in Adam Griffith then in my opinion and had he done so I have no doubt he would have made the kick. That would have made it a two score game which likely would have been the difference. Secondly, if it's fourth and less than a yard the offensive line has to man up and do whatever it takes to drive the defense line backwards to get that one yard. In the end, if you can't get less than a yard on fourth down when you need it you really don't deserve to win.

This loss was 100% on Saban. As the head coach, it was incumbent upon him to recognize that a 57 yard field goal attempt had a good chance of coming up short and giving the deep man (Davis) a chance to return it, especially considering the fact that the ball was spotted on the left hash mark. Saban absolutely had to make sure that his special teams players on the field were prepared to defend a return. He obviously didn't, and they obviously weren't.

I will never understand the hate this man gets. You people act like every single coach except Nick Saban has had a failing career at another school and then left to coach somewhere else. If a coach is doing a bad job and is unhappy, you really want him in control of your team?(That's really the only argument I see on here) Be honest. You're upset that Alabama won a few national championships. I do not understand why that warrants this much hate. I don't hate Auburn for winning championships. The fact we have a rivalry in this state between two teams this consistent is awesome. It's always a good game. So please stop cluttering up a long tradition because you have a stick up your ass. The coaches and players are nicer to each other than a lot of these fans are, and none of you are actually involved. Shut up and enjoy the sport.

  • @michaelford4972

Here's my 2 cents. First of all, I'm an Auburn fan, and I'm not really sure to whom I can personally call the "Greatest Coach in College Football". You can call it bias, but in my honest opinion, Malzahn is the greatest offensive mind in college football today, which doesn't necessarily mean he's the greatest coach, but that offense is next to impossible to stop. Second, regardless of my personal feelings toward him, I can't deny Saban's coaching and recruiting abilities. He always gets a great set of freshmen who turn into NFL bound athletes. Yes, it does put me on edge knowing that Saban is still there, but it excites me knowing that this could be the caliber of Iron Bowls we can expect to see in the years to come. It just confirms the claim that the Iron Bowl is the greatest rivalry in all of sports! Now in regards to this video, Saban typically doesn't do a great job with interviews because he never gives credit where credit is due, however he does give good detailed answers. This interview is a great example of just how humble Saban can be. I was really impressed to hear him talk about how AU did a great job on offense and how we earned the kick return instead of it being luck. Classy job on this one, Nick. Best of luck to Bama, and see y'all in T-Town this fall. War Eagle!

2013 good Ole Texas made an offer I remember but I also remember Saban not wanting to start over bc folks who are boosters like to try and call the shots... Saban is known for telling them deep pocket folks to shut the fuck up.
I guess what I am trying to say is he was already home and making a lot of money so why start over after making progress and building a great team literally at four/five year climax that is still till this day continuing to build a career that will go down in history books 😆
Just to enlighten you on my useless information 101. So you will understand why I said 4-5 years climax (based off 2013) and back. 2007 still was a rough year and that was under Saban it was 2008 when we started to really shine bc they beat Auburn and ended their back to back wins. Oh it doesn't end there 2009 is when Bama won Championship. 2010 was okay. 2011 and 12 ended great too. So he was definitely a better leader/coach then what they had before but was still building the team and learning from mistakes. Its a team effort the coach can't win a damn game with out a damn good team, and damn good coaches to back him up! Give credit to everyone. Saban definitely in charge and making shit happen. He ain't a one man show. I think the only thing Saban should be accused of is wanting to make a good name for himself and breaking records. He found that possible with Bama.

Saban... you have sold your soul to the devil himself! You threw that game and the people with critical thinking, like myself, knows it! The real reason why is we'll never know. Could be money or mobsters could have threatened his family.

Both of you sheeple need to learn that sports are rigged! Salvatore Gravano even said that in Federal Court to a federal judge while being on trial for the John Gotti murders. The murders that Gravano part in and did himself. But he also said that sports are rigged. I mean come on!!! The Sonny Liston and Muhammad Ali famous "phantom punch" was rigged. Pete Rose betting on his own team. Tyson dropping to Douglas with Douglas being a 42-1 underdog! I could go on and on. When you sheeple talk... you sound exactly what you are like... SHEEP!

Spetsnaz Pocomaxa That is just examples. For "Dpal93"... what are you trying to insinuate? You have a christian cross as your picture, but then call me stupid. Obviously you need to read the book of Matthew in your bible. Perhaps Matthew 7:1. You are a fine example of why most people hate fake christians like yourself.
