If you ever visit Nizhny Novgorod - I'd reccomend to take the boat and go to the small historical towns on the Volga river. It's even more interesting!

I like this series of visiting different cities outside of Moskau and St Petersburg. Keep kontinue. It is interesting.
Interesting stuff! Thanks Sergey.
The central and commercial areas look quite nice but those old run down apartments blocks look so depressing. I know sometimes the apartments could be much nicer when inside though.
I like the vibe of Nizhny Novgorod, I have often thought... if you really want to experience the true "soul" of a country, get away from the big tourist trap cities and experience the medium cities.... this city fits that bill well
Good video thank you for filming.
Thanks!
KF! Thanks for covering expensese on a car! Really helpful!
You do a very good and fair job showing the city. Everyone knows about its gorgeous steps, it's Kremlin, and the waterfront. Waterfront but I appreciate how you show the neighborhoods and you drive through them. From the cats in the street, the dog laying by the car and showing the signs of how much people make. The infrastructure is certainly improved closer to the city center and I think only can improve in a city. With so many people it can only go up
Haha! Thanks! Hope Natasha likes it! Maybe you one day will visit too!
@@CrazyRussianSergey she needs to watch it still. I'm enjoying your opinions on freedom Street 🏋️. Id love to go.. Maybe in the next few years
a lot of people don't even know abut the famous parts! That river is sooooooooo wide and beautiful
dope so last video a walking and metro video now a rented car one. great structure and interesting topics about all basic interesting things you point to
Thank you for showing us around. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Enjoyed the tour of Nizny Novgorod!
Big cities have more chance for homeless to get some support, food, money and a chance to find work . Small towns don’t have as many chances for them to get help ,or that’s my theory anyway. 🙋🏼♀️🥰

Thanks :)
My neighbour has 2 black cats. They are very nice cats.
Those traditional wooden houses in Gorodets look a bit like Swiss chalets. The Switzerland Park just needs some cows 🐄 and mountains in the background to look more authentically Swiss 😃
My father used to have a subscription to a Russian monthly magazine in the 70s and 80s, I forgot what it was called and have no idea why he got it as he didn't speak any Russian! I remember seeing hockey players on the front cover.
I heard of Nizhny Novgorod for the first time in 1945 right after world war 2, when I lived together with some Russian soldiers in Germany, but it is nice to see this city with your help.
You fought ww2? 🤯
@@barhat961 They drafted me on December 28, 1944 to the Volkssturm in Silesia (was German and is now Polish) and trained me on the Panzerfaust. I was only 11 Years old and we kids - all about the same age, were hungry and cold most of the time and the Russian army was not far away any more. When I moved to America in the summer of 1957, they again drafted me into the US Air-Force.
Vaysha in the Hay shows us villages that are so sad.
It's nice to get a hit of Sergey each day!
💐
Hi Sergey. Good video. Seems like a nice quieter place to live compared to Moscow or St Petersburg. Except for the potholes. Shame the infrastructure for the side streets are not maintained. Ppl driving have to be careful with the potholes, esp deep ones, the suspension on the vehicles can be destroyed. What is name of the place??. If you said it I didn't catch it. Thanks Sergey.
Nizhny Novgorod. It's East of Moscow.
There are so many interesting places to live in the world, so why live in such a depressing place? Russia is at the bottom of the table in terms of quality of life in Europe. A country with such great potential does not offer much more than it did in the 1980s.
The center of the city looks great now in spring. I think those aerial tubes are an accident waiting to happen.
Idiots and roads? LOL! we have exactly the same problem here!
❤❤
Storm sewers are drainage systems that direct rainwater, they act like the streams would if nothing was built, not having a system means low areas flood.
No surface water management/drainage = potholes.
It reminds me of USA in the 1980s, or even up to the 1990s. I think the yellow lights are either just 'sodium vapor' lamp or an anti-bug/bug repelling light.
The style of dress is very Western, they would be at home here in US: when I was there in '99, I really stood out on the train as the clothes I wore not available there.
Thanks for you effort, this is extremely interesting and pertinent.
Ohh wow! Thanks for your donation! In case of clothes it’s interesting that in the outskirts people were adidas style clothes (simple), but when they go to the center they dress well. I think in America it’s kinda the same
hello, Sirgey
The holes are there so you don't fall asleep when driving😊
good job you ladas volgas etc are built like tanks with those roads
Lada ziguli best car for my father 😅 ... its like T- 55 in our army 😂 ... spent 10 litres for 100 km 😂
Very nice. I hope city stays green. This is old good USSR heritage. Green fields between blocks. Those pipes are from centralized heating plants, it is much cheaper that way above.
Yellow one are gas pipes, international pipe colour code...
The pipes are an eye sore. The main reason it's done that way is because they don't want to spend the money to repair them in the ground like they do in most other cold weather countries.
@@JCW86 Some Russian cities have them underground too. Mostly centers etc. This type at ground level is mostly at the perifery. Costs are not in repairs but in much costly infrastructure that is required to house pipes underground.
a superstition, a black cat crossing your path, some think it means a bad omen.
When I was in Moscow the black cat 🐈⬛ wanted to cross my path. I asked him not not and he waited. A good kitty!
in the UK a black cat is considered lucky, - lucky black cat,
Problem for Russia is the sparse populations ……,. Which are hinderances for infrastructure. Without adequate taxes there cannot be civilian infrastructure of roads, sewerage n water supply etc
not sure about the blocks of flats viewed from the river. they looks like they've been on fire ,architect on 150% vodka no doubt
Rich cites are more likely to have homeless people because of gentrification and everything is more expensive, leaving the lower class in the dust. Even if you go in a small US town or small city, you won't see any homeless either, but the infrastructure quality would be miles ahead of this, GOSHH!!
07:1 use there 4x4 cars / pick -up truck. ( UAZ or Niva or similar )
Hello. For the al.go rythm
17:10 yes but fully black cat so also the paws: which is litterly close to non existence, in essence.
We have a practice in Serbia to go 3 steps back if a black cat crosses in front of you and its from a slavic pagan times.
🐈⬛ 🦶 I’ll remember that
Unfortunately, black cats are much less likely to get adopted from shelters because of this superstition.
I picked up the term ‘Russia is not Moscow,’ which I thought was a Russian saying, and which I think this video is about. Of course that can be said of many big cities in every country, but Russia presents a very complicated governance issues given the present lack of some kind of constitutional democracy-essentially being a dictatorship.
If I were a Russian I would get a black cat and name him Sergey. **
xelo guysh
Very interesting. Parts of this remind me of what Israel used to look like which I guess is not a surprise given how many immigrated from Russia. Similar "architecture". Though this Russian city looks quite run down, like it's stuck in the 70's 80's. Too bad Russia couldn't move beyond totalitarian regimes, it's really so culturally close to the rest of Europe (and I guess partly to Asia) but politically so far.
Is it true that the sewers back up in the streets in these smaller cities when it rains?
Section one, Chapter, Two Article 40! How nice for Russia to house homeless. It once made it easier for conscription papers to be served with a one way ticket to the meat grinder in areas where homeless people are housed. The Gosuslugi portal makes it much easier today.
you should get a subsidy from your government for services to tourism, you'd make a grand tour guide in your country, i was surprised by so many things, that i couldnt comment on them all, that everything looked so green, and not a snow shoe in sight.! I learned that Spar shops were not English, and the meaning of Blyat! well done sergey, for another entertaining, and informative video!
Nowhere to park means many people can afford their own car
Wow homeless in Russia. I bet the old people are shaking their heads at that. That used to be one of the major brags Russia held over the West. I wonder if it's mostly due to drugs or to the economy.
Mostly due to vodka
Good to see you but it would be good if you have Stella regularly also.
haha! will see maybe will film some new vids!

Too many roads all over South Africa have potholes like that and worse. Infrastructure funds land up in back pockets at source.....

19:00 no drainage no way lol I kept watching to see a drain but, nope. Imagine this and it freezes haah wtf
later volga and to the rich people area
I’d prefer Moscow the Capital or the cultural Capital compared to Nizhny-Novgorod. However, homelessness in USA 🇺🇸 getting worse because the government doesn’t care. We have many problems but our roads are in much better condition.
The government can only do so much. Some people literally don't want to live in housing for whatever reason, usually mental illness. We've gone away from institutionalizing many people in the US unless they are a threat to society, because it's not a good practice. There are many homeless even in Russia, you just have to know where to look.
Yes. I was many places in russia From Omsk to Ulyanovsk... Moscow a lot . Russia is in fact a bad infrastucture ... Comparing with norway herei live.,,, Russia is not good .... And probably worser now,,,

ahh its for the cats so they dont shit haha in the toilet, freshly seethed soil.

Ugly building as usual..
