Travis Gibson Awesome I’m glad the video was able to help you out. A press makes the process a lot easier but I wanted to use basic tools everyone would have, excluding the sawzall.
I just use my press to press out the eye bushing sleeve, then the bushing, and then I use my cutting wheel to cut the aluminum housing (there is a space between the spring itself and eyelet). I then use a hammer and chisel to knock it out. Easy peezy
I replaced the leaf spring bushings on my 84 C15 back in January with Energy suspension bushings, made a big difference in handling and ride quality. But getting the old bushings out was a nightmare, took the leaf springs off and had them soaking in Plus gas penetrating oil for a week to help when getting them out, I had use of a 50 ton press at my place of work and they were still a nightmare to get out using that. 😟. But got there in the end.
Mr shifter500 I used our pneumatic press at my work to remove the shackle bushings, I wish I would have went that route with the lead springs but not everyone has a press so o was trying to make a video where everyone could get them out with basic tools.
You can use a ball wheel cylinder hone to clean the inside of the spring where the bushing has to go,just turn in the correct rotation so the little balls do not hook in the slot where he cut the bushing
Thank u I been workin on my leaf springs and having to figure out everything then came across this video and made everything work perfectly

The method I used was for the people that don’t have access to a press.
