    In the 50s and 60s my familywould go to Mcarthur park all the time it was beautiful then. We would also go to the movie theatre across the street. We spent many 4th of Julys at the park watching the fire dept set off fire works from the middle of the lake. How sad it looks now.

      Why would you want to visit MacArthur Park. That whole Westlake neighborhood is an outlier in LA. It’s not representative of the city as a whole. It’s the dirtiest, most homeless infested area in LA next to Skid Row. Saying that, it’s only 10 blocks squared and can just simply be avoided. There are loads of fine areas around the city and not only the rich areas. The creator specifically went here to shine a bad light on Los Angeles. There are plenty of Home Depot’s he could have gone to in more flattering locals.

    • @H0tPickups
      @H0tPickups Місяць тому

      @@Heathsmusic1Westlake is more than 10 blocks squared. It borders are the 101 FWY, 110 FWY, Olympic, and Hoover.
      The main problem is the government’s lack of enforcement on crime. It’s a mostly immigrant community and the city obviously turns a blind eye to it because it doesn’t benefit them to do anything about it. It’s never been the safest place, but man has it become awful. In the 80/90s the worst people there were the people selling fake IDs. There was a time when it was being revitalized and then for whatever reason they just gave up on it again and it turned into zombieland. Worst places in LA are definitely Skid Row and McArthur Park.

    LOL. MacArthur Park was always-I mean, ALWAYS-a very bad area. I’ve been an LA native since 1995. MacArthur in the late 90s/2000s was gang-infested, full of drugs, and that’s where young teens went to get their fake IDs and drugs. All these things you see online about LA being a dump-that was always the case; the rent just went up, and businesses couldn’t maintain. The Fashion District-we used to go buy clothes and get out before sunset because the zombies came out. Sunset Strip was FULL of prostitution and gangs. It seemed like things got a little better, but they just swept everything under the rug until it finally blew up. It’s the same bad neighborhoods; they just charge quadruple the rent, open a few Starbucks and shopping plazas, and people move in. The shopping center stays empty because the rent is so high, and it becomes a joke. Vermont and Wilshire, for example, is a dump of a place to rent for a restaurant or business. I can tell you, it has nothing to do with Democrats or Republicans-LA will always be the same. The only difference is, now robbers target people with money, whereas before, it was crime in their own neighborhood.

Stop money in politics, and maybe I’ll take their shit show seriously. We have more chances of both parties combining their strengths and efforts to allow loopholes for money in politics vs them changing anything. You don't just put a republican or Dem and all the homeless disappear. None have talked about a policy on rehab, Jobs to those in need, and metal asylums/hospitals . etc.

    • @somedude5853
      @somedude5853 Місяць тому

      @josemedina1983 Місяць тому +1

      @@somedude5853 Oh no, I'm good on the gang members, LOL. I think these problems needed to be addressed a long time ago. People nowadays are looking for anything-from drugs, porn addiction, social/gaming addiction-just to get away from the reality that most people are one paycheck away from homelessness. Others are just one medical bill away from bankruptcy. Corporate greed has us picking the blue team or the red team with no actual solution, just fighting each other. Let's not talk about rent prices.

I'm sure the new stations that will start to come online next year will look more modern. These will remain the classic stations with each having a unique designs and artwork.

      Doesn’t compare. Depends on the line too, but people here prefer driving. With the upticks in crime and deaths at or near metro stations, more people are probably deciding it ain’t worth the risk. There are weeks where it seems multiple crimes are posted about on Reddit all located at or surrounding a metro station. Stabbing, assault, etc. some are relatively safe, like the gold line. Some are much more chaotic, like the red or blue lines.

    12:20m Welcome to "Zombie Park". The alley across from Yoshinoya is the worst. During Covid it was scary to walk around those sidewalk merchants even w/ a mask. Now that Fentanyl has taken over the area all you see are bent over figures half awake who would not care about anyone but themselves. Reminds me of Korn's first video from the early 90s. Don't take it for granted this phenomenon has spread even wider than this region throughout downtown. Levitt Pavillion on Wilshire Blvd. was still hosting all ages summer concerts in the middle of this! Goodbye to Langers Deli, I know the city won't have enough time or put enough effort into dealing with this matter.
