Delightful Intellectual banter among men. Nigeria 🇳🇬 economy outlook will be affected by local and international events going forward . Oil and gas prices and incomes, Investment in agriculture / increased food output taming inflation , Improved Military onslaught on terror Dangote and Refinery and improved fertiliser and petrochemical Industries value chain , saving about 40% of Foreign exchange , Improve dollar reserves and stronger Naira Accelerated electricity infrastructure projects Trump, China and decline of Germany, France and UK economy on more expensive energy and pivot towards Chinese autos over Europe
I enjoyed watching this. The style of Friday evening talk over drinks was not lost on me and I felt like I was at the table with y'all. Insightful, intelligent conversations. I think Tunji's perspectives on our BRICS 'inclusion' are valid. I don't see how we get to 15% inflation (unless there is a 15% drop from the current 34% and the FG spins that as success 😅).
Also a correction South Africa exported apprx $24 Billion to China in 2022 whilst Nigeria only exported just over $1.5 Billion and Nigeria runs a huge deficit with China... BRICS has been good for South Africa. Egypt and Ethiopia also has full membership to BRICS
The challenge is you either missed the point or don’t want to see the point. China Exports to South Africa was US$23.65 Billion during 2023 as well. There is a reciprocity arrangement between BRICS nations which doesn’t extend to partner nations. China exports to Nigeria in the same period was $20bn. Finally, we do not claim to know it all. It’s a show on what we do regularly over drinks and decided to publish it. The comments section is for everyone like you to add to the discuss and we are glad you have.
@tunjiandrews792 i referred to South Africa exports to China not China exports to South Africa to illustrate being part of BRICS is beneficial to South Africa. South Africa has also been approved for various BRICS bank facilities relating to infrastructure dev at very low interest, they have chosen not to use but those facilities are there. Anyway I do enjoy your platform there are some good insights thanks.
Nigeria has not applied to be a brics member, it was invited as a partner country. I think its up to Nigeria government to formally apply for membership.
You guys need to have better understanding ... First, it is about South South Cooperation in Geo-Politics, 2nd BRICS had expanded beyond the original 5, Beyond South Africa - Egypt and Ethiopia are full African members and it is Nigeria's choice not to be a full member. Also it is deliberate decision not to adopt Yuan. The intention is to have a basket of currencies; slowed down by measurement design for potential commodities exchange ...
You guys are awesome! Great insight. Indepth knowledge. Weldone guys!
Tunji, I'm with you on the BRICS matter

I love Trump's ban on the citizenship situation. Maybe we would stay back and want to build our national integrity.
Unfortunately, it is a constitutional matter, and any president cannot with a stroke of pen through his executive powers to override the constitution.

It’s in their cpi methodology handbook. They must pick the year before.

Exactly, it is up to Nigeria to apply for membership ... I don't think anyone on this panel understand what brics is
