Global Financial and Tech Developments: Market Sentiment Shifts.
The global financial and tech landscapes are witnessing pivotal shifts. In the U.S., stocks and bonds are surging on expectations of Federal Reserve rate cuts, fueled by cooling inflation and a decline in the 10-year Treasury yield. At the same time, China has unveiled a massive $1.4 trillion investment in tech innovation, targeting dominance in sectors like AI and semiconductors. This move directly challenges U.S. trade restrictions and could reshape global supply chains. On the corporate side, Paramount Global is grappling with the challenge of maintaining profitability in its streaming platforms while facing declining revenues in traditional media. These dynamic changes underscore the importance of adaptability and resilience in an increasingly interconnected global economy.

    Depends - if you buy bulk items or items you can’t consume in a short period or at once - you will have to invest in storage? Fridge (which one will have already….) and power costs? ….also your time spent cooking each meal might be better used elsewhere….So yes the groceries / ingredients maybe cheaper to buy but the overall activity of cooking / storage / reheating etc may just make it cheaper to eat out….

    Would you eat a 1kg of chicken in a meal? Its cheaper to eat in. Eating out besides the cost (even though spread over the customers) the vendor must make a profit ie so economy of scales come in. A piece of chicken out (not quarter cut o!) would be about 1.2-1.5K. Having sat at both. Eating out, 3 meals a day would decently cost minimal 5K per day o!

    It's always cheaper. Ask yourself, what goes into the 'cheaper' food bought outside? It's always cheaper to cook your own meals no matter how you want to cut it

    I cook my meal at home, the only negative is that if you buy your food items from retailers, but if you buy it in wholesale It is cheaper . The reason why to note the difference is that those cook vendor buy items in wholesale. If you have means of storage it is best cooking at home live alone in Lagos mainland

    When you consider that the rich Nigerians working for established companies and owners of companies are currently the ones paying tax - the question is how the government collects taxes from the informal sector.

    The problem is not taxing wealthy Nigerians, the problem is what they will do with the taxes after collecting it. Will the taxes end up in the private accounts of wealthy politicians, or will it go to fund the obscenely expensive lifestyles of politicians towards buying expensive SUVs, Yachts, more presidential jets, etc., etc.? If they are taxing to loot and/or squander, then they should leave people's money for them. That Presidential Committee should add a proposal for publishing how the taxed 25% are being spent.

    • @Damian_Ess
      @Damian_Ess 24 дні тому

      Nigerians don’t want to pay taxes but they want services - it’s a chicken and egg situation - taxes must be paid to get services; if you don’t get services then you can exercise your right to challenge that in other ways - but I fail to see how NOT paying taxes at all is a solution. As an offshoot of the resource curse / Dutch disease - Nigerians want everything for free - without paying a dime or paying below what it costs to deliver the service - this is why services aren’t provided or are provided poorly. If you have no faith in govt providing services cos of corruption - then patronize private providers and pay the effective rate & taxes.

    • @barristerjezzdo
      @barristerjezzdo 24 дні тому

      @@Damian_Ess I didn't say they shoulod not tax. My concern is where the tax will end up. And who told you Nigerians don't pay tax? All government employees pay tax at source before they receive their salaries. Companies pay taxes for their employees from source. Businesses pay taxes by way of companies tax. So, who remains if not the low earning people in the informal sector, who should not be taxed in the first place? And for your information, countries like United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Libya under Ghadaffi, etc, provide free things for their citizens, what is wrong with that since the countries are making money? Even US, France, Canada, Uk, etc. have free education from primary school through secondary school. But once it is Nigerians, giving free things to citizens becomes a taboo, right?

    Tinubu is stretching naira with devaluation. If CBN sells over half a billion dollars to bureau de change at about N1,560 for intervention, how much are they suppose to resell? Port charges at almost N1,600 dollar rate, how much are importers going to sell such products? Tinubu and Cardoso are the problems. Their rates per dollar changes everyday, how many foreign investors will like that? Which institutions in Nigeria still has the courage to borrow from foreign banks to invest in Nigeria when you're not sure at what dollar rate you will repay such loans. Tinubu is running a voodoo fiscal policies common with collapsed economies in the world. Ghanian cedi is exchanged at 1$=15cedis but Nigeria is exchanging at 1$=1,600 naira, is that not madness🤷‍♂️. I don't know but am afraid at how Tinubu is planning to end Nigeria because this hardship is just not sustainable. It's difficult quoting for contracts because rates are not stable. You can't plan pricing and can't plan inventory because rates aren't stable. Working capital is crushed and eroded everyday because of loss in value of naira, who can actually deal with this madness? How many foreign investors want to take the risk of losing his working capital inside the Nigerian economy?Families can't feed again, families can't maintain cars again 🤷‍♂️. What's these madness all about? Who cursed Nigeria? What is our crime for been Nigerians? This is too much😭, it's becoming unbearable and suicidal 😭😭😭😭

    Bro, do you know what you're saying. You should be comparing 50naira to 50dollars. Do you think our naira is in cent comparisons? It is 1 naira to 1 dollar, you kids don't know nothing so keep you mouth shut. Do you know way back if you change 50 naira, you could get about 30 - 36 dollar. Back then when expertrates come down to work in our institutions. When we so depend on export of our agricultural products. Yes back then, europeans come to work here in our hospitals, universities, companies, infrastrutural projects etc. Please, Do your research. You talk like a kid. I have stopped listening to financial analyst abroad that talk about naira and notable Nigerians that talk about Naira. These people are learned they are supposed to be giving wholistic reviews but they keep disappointing me. If things are undervalued here, why is the cost of a Car there cheaper than here? Pls explain? The simple way of making an economy stronger is increasing production and reducing dependency on imported things. How can you drive production when the cost of production is already high and the interest rates discourages borrowing for production. Why remove energy subsidy and share the money to unaccountable heads of state, and allocate the rest to renovating VPs lodge and buying yatch, airplanes, foreign vehicles (innoson is local alternative), funding pilgrimage and entourage for conferences abroad. Yes it can still get bad but not because of high prices abroad but bad, corrupt and lazy governance locally, The amenities are available there but they are not here, general security is guaranteed there but its not here. Do you understand the effect of insecurity on unmechanized farming and how that translates to food inflation. Policies are killing manufacturing, that is supposed to manufacture alternatives to imported goods and ease the demand for dollar to import them. I am not an economist or a financial person but why do you sound so dumb and corrupt in your simplified analysis in your field to me a lay man.😢. U have oil in ur country and energy crisis is affecting you and u still do gas flaring in the 21st century. Gas that can be used to generate power. Ijust don't understand. Its traumatizing. U all should keep being delusional that all Nigerians are braindead that you can give any baseless analysis.

    This analysis is so flawed! Comparing 2.4 inflation rate country with 34.2 inflation country? Ok let me do simple analysis; In 2015 a salvage 2005 corolla cost $1000-1200 in USA which was equivalent to 197,000 naira then it's sold between 750-800k in Nigeria fast forward to 2024 Same car still cost between $1000-$1200 in USA but equivalent in Nigeria now is 1,650,000 naira & currently approaching 10m for sale in Nigeria! Now that's how to explain current inflation in Nigeria in relation to dollar currency. Also any country plague with terrible inflation can never have sufficient income since whatever you earn will be consumed by inflation. Why don't you say our minimum wage is higher than that of USA or is USA paying $70,000 minimum wage? at least base on your analysis.
