The story around 23:21 reminds me of one of my childhood friends…my mom always let her spend the night but never let me go to their house. She was homeschooled after elementary so we lost touch but later when I was in college it came out in the news that he was SAing my childhood friend and her sisters. My mom told me that she always had a bad feeling about him and that’s why she never let me go over there. I’m SO thankful she stuck with her mother’s intuition

Story 2: unfortunately stress can cause a complete mental break. My cousins have lost their mom, my aunt, to some kind of psychosis. She harasses us by text and accuses us of being terrorists, poisoning her food and water, breaking things around her house, repeatedly breaking her nose, standing at her windows at night, using Wi-Fi to give her diseases, stealing her money, occupying her old home she sold, lying about her divorce; all sorts of things. She thinks everyone she meets (cashiers, random people on the street) are part of our “family terrorist cell” that targets only her. It is horribly, horribly sad. No amount of wellness checks or reporting can force her to get help since she is “not a danger to herself or others”. The sweet, kind, responsible woman we all grew up loving is just gone. I pray she can get help.

I remember watching the Yates case unfold. I would never excuse what Andrea did to her children, it’s horrifying. Having said that I’ve always thought Rusty should have been held more responsibility then her. He knew damn well what was happening. Instead of getting her the help she needed, he ignored it. He clung to his religion and in the end it cost him his family. She wasn’t a innocent player but she was just as vulnerable as those kids.

For the Yates case Joel left out A LOT in how truly evil, manipulative, and abusive Rusty and his mother really are. He left out that he moved his mother in without Andreas consent. BOTH him and his mother treated her like a slave making for do all the house work. I’m pretty sure they would beat and verbally abuse her as well if she didn’t comply and INTENTIONALLY withheld her medications from her.

I lived one block away from Andrea and Russell Yates and their five beautiful children when this happened. I had a one year old and was 5 1/2 months pregnant… I ran into Russell Yates and his parents twice towards the end of my pregnancy. I know so much more about what happened before, during and after the trial. Wow, I’m shaking so badly, I try my hardest even 22 years later to not think about this… It’s 2 AM here in Texas rn, I’ll add an edit tomorrow to tell you all about the things that happened that have been forgotten over the years and about the insanely eerie 2nd time I ran into Russell at a restaurant when I was 9 months pregnant, and what he said to me. I can’t think about any of it right now if I want to get any sleep tonight. Have a great night Joel ♥️

The Yates case made me so mad. If your wife is going off the chain after having kids and the docs tell you that you probably shouldn't have kids? You might want to follow that and not just knock her up again. And then you leave her alone because she needs to take care of the kids and not depend on him? He literally ignored everyone and everything. He is totally compliant in those poor kids deaths.

I think she already had mental health problems. Then the hormone changes after having baby after baby. That caused her psychosis. He should have never left them alone with her. She was clearly psychotic. She killed her 5 babies. She chased the oldest one around the house. That shows some thought of premeditated murder. She was psychotic. I don't know if she was actually criminally insane. Those treating her should be held accountable. The husband was a moron. Just keep having your wife having babies. He should have hired a nanny. The mother in law should have taken her grandchildren. She should have put her son in check. Religion is dangerous. This woman really thought her innocent children would burn in hell. She is the one who committed one of the worst sins imaginable.

There's so much more to the Yates case. Definitely not going to get into all that here. But I can say Rusty deserves no sympathy. He does deserve to be burdened with guilt. Since he was able to move on and have another family (which was conveniently left out of the video) his conscience is clearer than it should be. At the very least he should've had forced sterilization.

@@denisebethany5691 I've always thought that. I'm not sure for how long, and how long Rusty lived there but his parents lived in a particular area close to mine in Nashville. It was all over our local news, any time Andrea went to court, or something came up relevant to the case it made our news. I've always had the opinion he was as guilty as she was. If I remember correctly, it wasn't that long after it happened he had already moved on with his life. Part of me has always wondered if he left her alone with the kids because he wanted her to do something.

  • @gachaluna2708
    @gachaluna2708 Рік тому +82

The Andrea Yates thing was so messed up and sad. There was a whole lot to that case. There was some religious Zealotry going on from some friends she met through him. Trying to make her feel bad. There was a ton wrong with her mental health. Several times they had told doctors she wasn't well enough to be home. That she needed meds they took her off of then refused. Then the husband and family. She had told them she was afraid of hurting the kids. He knew. They knew. Yet they all still left her alone with them. I'm not in any way making an excuse or saying what she did was not horrific. What I am saying is she basically begged for help and said what she was afraid would happen and still people ignored it. It's so so messed up

Not only was he told not to leave her alone, but he was also told that another professional that they shouldn't have any more kids. And what did Rusty do? Both of those things! He even let her come off of her medicine! He should have let the doctors continue to give her antipsychotic medications. Scratch that, he should have forced her to continue antipsychotic medications. she is doing much better now thanks to medication and overall good treatment. so op saying that there is a light at the end of the tunnel is 100% true. if you find yourself in a similar situation, it’s important to be here for the person in crisis but please remember to take care of yourself first!!

I'm glad that family has been healing and still has each other bc you really don't have any control with mental illness unless you have support. 😢❤

❤❤ this. Moms are great. Ok the mom in the second story went through so much, a messy divorce, went through torment from her ex, and all that pain and anger exploded by braking a friends arm, she cursed her own daughter that she apparently never did, and told her son to spit at a cops face

😢 I remember seeing that story about that little girl Shannon who was abducted her mother had everything to do with it her mother arranged for the kidnap for her piece of crap friend so they could claim the money for themselves what a piece of crap sorry excuse of a mother she wanted the award for herself it would have your own daughter kidnapped just so you can claim the reward money what a sad story I feel bad for that little girl and that mother ended up doing hardly any time in jail lost her kids and ended up moving to another town and changing her name she barely got any jail time and got to go on living pretty much normal life in another town how pathetic if she was in the United States she would have got them or harsher punishment I like always the UK does not have harsh punishments

I fully believe Andrea Yates' husband should have been sent to prison. iirc he even told her she didnt need the meds and just to pray the crazy away. tbh I blame him and the sorry state of mental healthcare in the United States and especially in Texas for what happened. she should not have been allowed to go back home with her children. she should not have been allowed to be "cared for" (read: ignored) by a man who cared more for his religion than his wife or children. Many of his actions instigated what happened. They had too many kids, she didnt have enough support and he wasn’t willing to help and on top of that acted like god was going to heal her psychosis. The break that caused her to kill her kids was even based in religion, she believed she was "saving them" from "demons." I honestly feel so bad for both her and her children. Postpartum psychosis wasn't even really considered a thing at the time. she did not have support. she needed much more mental health care. Everything in the system failed her and those poor kids. it is also cases like this that SHOULD show people that religion absolutely can be horribly detrimental and damaging to some people. Now her life is ruined and her ex husband just moved on like nothing happened. if there is a hell I can’t wait to see that asshole there.

My mother & I are not what most would consider close although we were briefly in my adulthood and I’m grateful for that at least..
She was always a very complex woman! Not very loving but definitely loved from a distance if that makes sense to anyone else?! Nonetheless I forgive her for her failings and or flaws & I can only hope that she’s forgiven mine! My relationship with my daughter is much different as is her relationship with her Nunna! Strange how that works?!

Maybe I should send in some stories about my abusive psychopath mom. It is scary but to me the theme is more sad and depressing rather than "creepy" or whatever. For some reason it's worse to be abused by your mom because it's like such a betrayal and so opposite what they're "supposed" to do in their role. It's the same reason evil clowns and evil children themes are scary. I guess clowns are just creepy af to begin with honestly lol.

At 55:22, where the son asks if mom can see behind his eyes. It’s explained that he hasn’t learned yet that they have two separate minds and believes she is in his head.
Boy oh boy, did my mom take advantage of that fact. She also had eyes at the back of her head I couldn’t see. It took me decades to get her out of my head but there will always be remnants.

What do you mean? I'm not trying to "trauma dump" but for context, I was given "schizo affective disorder" and I told that lady she was WRONG. I felt delusional/like stuff was happening but I couldn't prove it, even if everyone else didn't believe it, sort of like being gaslit hardcore.
Turns out that's exactly what was happening to me. Someone literally gaslit me so hard, I thought I needed psychiatric help. So I went to go get it. I stopped taking them a long time ago, but it gave me other side effects too. I was just curious about you. I'm good though, I'm alright. 😁

God I remember when my mom took me to by a bathing suit. I was 4. She took me to the worst stores: Sears, Montgomery Wards, and a place called Newberry’s. This was in So Cal. I couldn’t find one I wanted so she took me out to the parking lot by my hair and started hitting me across the face and head and pulling my hair really hard. She also took one of those three pronged garden tools and slashed my brother across the back with it. I don’t think my parents wanted to be parents but society kinda expected married people to have kids at that time. This was late 70s early 80s. My parents separated for about a year when I was 10 and it was a relief. No more fighting and domestic violence but she came back and things were never the same
