Exploring Shades State Park - Waveland, Indiana

- Had the day off, and with temps in the mid 70's I grabbed the GoPro and made a dash to Shades State Park in Waveland, Indiana. It's been over two decades since my last visit. I was way overdue. Thought I'd reacquaint myself with the park and seek out the 6 popular ravines that make up the "Six Ravine Challenge."
Got off to a little confusing start. Probably due to a heavy leaf bed covering the trails. I eventually got on track and located all the ravines and their markers except for one at the end. It eluded me and still don't know where it's marker is. The sun was dropping fast, so I blew it off. No biggie, looking forward to returning. Regardless, the park is absolutely beautiful. It was a fantastic hike, and an absolutely beautiful day. I'll be back!

Shades is awesome, trail 1 is also my favorite, personally. It looked like you had the entire park to yourself, I miss that cool weather like that. Great video! I think you covered every trail. The funk from the pond...lol. Oh and let's not forget the outhouse scene. Superb.

Awesome trip Mark, I actually think Shades is prettier in some areas than Turkey Run. Especially the trail 1 area. Makes me want to go visit it again. Might wait for snow though if we get any this year.

@@hootonthetrail3894 Just stumbled on to your channel. If you haven't already head up to Indiana Dunes, lots of good hikes there. Particularly trail 9 at the State Park is my favorite. Cowles bog trail is also a must hike...along with others.
