I just spent 2 hours cleaning my minivan because I watched this video!!!! My son plays sports and my van gets soooo filthy. Plus we take my minivan to the beach and there was sand in the carpets and trunk. My van is 10 years old so it's dirtier then a newer car but I finally got it all cleaned up. The area around the door handles in the back were so brown and they are supposed to be gray!! Thank you for finally motivating me to clean it up even though the humidity here is so high I was literally dripping sweat!!. It looks like new! I can't believe it myself!!
When my kids was little I would put a 30 gallon trash bag under there car seat and put an old towel or sheet over it. That way what ever they dropped or spilled didn't go down in the seat. It really did help. Hope this helps. Loved the video
Thank you Melissa!! I'm going to tackle the car again this weekend but will definitely be using the toothbrush and paint brushes as well as the baking soda to deodorize. Your tips make cleaning something I actually look forward to!!!
Oh my gosh, had my car detailed today. I was mortified how filthy it was! It needed a professional to clean it! Now, I can incorporate this video! Thank you!
OH MY GOSH!!!!! My car hasn't been so clean since I drove it off the lot 8 years ago... I'm in love with microfiber clothes and your wonderful and funny tips. I can't thank you enough!!! I'll be proud to have family and friends in my car now!! I'm a HUGE fan of your videos! Thank you, Melissa! (PS, I just watched the clean your vacuum cleaner video and was seriously laughing out loud... yea, I'm not doing that... ok, fine! I will!) THANK YOU!
nice video .. i would like to make a couple suggestions however.. a few things I learned through years of detailing.. first thing, always remember , when cleaning windows, to roll them down a little and get that top 1/2" to 1" of the windows.. nothing worse than spending hours detailing, having super clean windows then rolling them down and seeing that line of dirt and uncleaned area that sits in the top window seal.. takes a second to do but makes it look so much nicer.. 2nd, never spray your window cleaner on the windows.. when you go to roll down your window and roll it back up, you will get a ton of streaking because the seals stay wet for a surprisingly long time.. ... spray directly into your window towel and then clean the surface.. another little thing i notice is that you were getting a lot of residual dirt when using the tooth brush to clean the seams of the seats, a lot of that would be picked up with an initial vacuum... also, i like to condition the leather seats at the very end.. in the video, you did all the cleaning and conditioning then sat on them to clean the back of the drivers and passenger seats and leaned all over them when you were vacuuming the carpets.. if you aren't using gloves when cleaning you just recontaminated them with your sweat and residue of other cleaning agents when you lean on them and touch them with your hands and bare skin ( knees, feet, forearms, etc).. just a few little observations...
I have a large truck and I've found a swiffer with half the handle is a great way to reach all over and quickly dust the truck without climbing all over the inside. The swiffer also has a wet sheet that works well and definitely makes the inside smell better.
Thank you! I want to clean my dad's car to thank him for being a great dad (his car's really dirty because he never has time to clean it) and this video summed car cleaning up well. c:
If there's carpet mats flip them upside down and switch sides if need it be. This helps me with my family. I also use a light mist nozel on pressure washer to clean if any rubber mats. Use Scotch guard spray on cloth but apply to dry cloth only. Yes, we eat and drink in my car. This has helped me out and hope this helps you.
thanks for the reminder!! I so needed the push to do a proper cleaning of my car this weekend. The other day I just decluttered and did a quick vacuum once over the major hot spots.
My favorite videos!!! The car themed ones! I used to always wash my mom's or sister's cars. But now that I have my own license and my mom gave me her car as a gift (which I always knew was going to be mine she had told me several years ago). I can wash MY car for the very first time.
I don't know if you or anyone else have mentioned this, but when using microfiber cloths to clean the glass and especially the paint on your car- remember to rip the label off of the cloth to prevent streaking or scratching. My husband The Car Dude always does that.
You are motivation to the max! :) My life goal for the day: wash my car! and while I drink my coffee I thought-let me check out UA-cam for some extra hints and tips. Watching you clean your car with an easy going attitude has motivated me. I'm excited to see my car be CLEAN, also I'm going to try out baking soda, I've used plenty of times in the house-on carpets, but I never thought to put it on the seats in my car. Great video.
Great video, as always! I have dog licks and nose prints all over my back hatch window. And dog fur ev-er-y-where! Plus I just moved myself AND my sister within the last 2 months. To say my car needs this is an understatement! Thanks for giving me the motivation I need to go tackle the task.
I am a clean freak! I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Coupe passed down from my father who purchased it brand new and I can NEVER fully clean it! Until......... I watched your video and Melissa. Your cleaning toothbrush hack is amazing! Thank you for all the great work you and Chad do. I binge watch your videos over and over again
get silicone dollar store cupcake liners (or paper) to use in cup holders, you can throw them in the dishwasher and swap them out. they fit well in carseat cup holders too.
"A line of fine crap"...I couldn't have described that annoying stuff any better, lol!!! I love your vids, Melissa...perfect timing for an Autumn car declutter :)
I keep storage cubes in my car. One in the hatch and one in between the captains chairs in the back that helps organize everything so things aren't rolling around. I try to clean out all the trash once a week on trash pick up day and that helps tremendously.
Hey Melissa, thank you for this video! I noticed you had a few loose items in your trunk, and if you're like me, those items sometimes slide around quite a bit while driving, especially going around turns, right? Something easy and inexpensive I have discovered and now use is a 3 shelf closet organizer (the kind you normally hang from the rod in a closet, from the dollar store), but instead of hanging it, you lay it down upright and now you have a 3 cubby organizer in which to store stuff! It can fit at the back or along the side of your trunk space, it corrals everything nicely (I've got all the car fluids in one cubby, the first aid kit and emergency kit in another, and the third cubby holds reusable shopping bags, as well as a roll of paper towels, a roll of toilet paper and some plastic bags, I have 2 kids and we travel a lot, trust me, it comes in handy lol). When it is time to clean the trunk I just lift the organizer out, clean, and then put back in, easy peasy, and nothing slides around anymore! Hope this is helpful! :)
I use the round brush attachment to my house vacuum to get the dirt out of the dash, steering wheel, radio, cupholders, etc at the same time. Saves a lot of time.
I love to clean "fast" so you better believe I watch your videos. They're great. I am trying to follow and make a list especially your alcohol cleaning list for the ROTC guys that help clean at a real life Carousel here in Pottstown Pa.. Unbelievable to me I helped getting the Carousel ready to open to the public. Well not the motor but the horses and the building. The building that houses it is as important to me as the Carousel. Thank you so much for your tips. And on a personal note I am going out to clean my car as soon as I'm finished here. Keep it commin'. your awesome
One thing I do with my auto carpet is spray windex, take a little scrub brush and scrub the carpet. This will loosen all the dirt and when you vaccum the carpet it will look brand new.
This is so helpful cause as soon as I got my drivers permit my dad has made me in charge of cleaning the family car but he and my brother are the ones who leave all their garbage in it lol!
Yea! Loved this! A Mercedes...way to go! 😉 I hate vacuuming all the crevices in my van. Oh yeah, an accurate depiction of what my van looks like after the kids get out: Take a box of Pepperidge Farms Goldfish, crumble up some cheese/peanut butter crackers, throw it randomly all over...and there ya go! Lol!
As a professional finishing touch, use Cybercleaner or similar. It's a slimy ball of goo that you can use to pick up specks of dust, lint, and other crap from your dash, seats, carpet, or anywhere really. Works like magic to pick up everything that settles after vacuuming and dusting. There are even recipes online that show you how to make your own from Borax, Elmer's, and a few other ingredients.
I like your strategy, it's effective, efficient and sexy ; however when you were vacuuming those car mats, i highly recommend to do a quick wipe underneath car mats (rubber part) to clean any remains of road dirt before final placement.
I picked up a bottle of All Purpose cleaner made by the manufacturer and it works great on the leather, cloth, chrome, vinyl, carpeting, etc... And it's safe because it's formulated for the car and materials by the manufacturer. And leaves a slight new car smell. I just use a microfiber cloth.
Great video again! I have to disagree with one thing though. Your steering wheel does need a LOT. I always wipe it with disinfecting wipes as it has most of the germs inside the car. I actually throw my soft mats in the washer every 6 months because they can get really dirty after winter, or in the rainy season. Great idea abut the tooth brush!
I always have a Microfibre in the car and dust when I am at traffic lights ( it does keep you dust free and you don't hate the lights so much) Also I put my car mats in the washing machine last time I cleaned it. You'd think it would wreck them but they looked great.
I have used a pressure washer on mine. Laid out on the sidewalk and blast them. They are beige, so after awhile they look filthy (especially if you've spilled soda and coffee- like me). That was the cleanest I've ever seen them. If you don't have a pressure washer, use a hose nozzle that gives a strong blast. Our driveway is on a steep incline, so that made the water and filth sheet off better.
I have light colored mats as well and to keep mine from getting the ugly dark stains, I turn them over where the plastic part of the mats are facing upward. It helps.
Yes video is now a year old but I would like to add one of my secrets. I drive dirt roads and they are dusty. In my version of your guide....after decluttering and before any vacuuming....I open all the door...and using a leaf blower I use a flat stick and smack the seats everywhere. Let the dust fly and use the leaf blower at the same time to blow it out the doors.
I would love some tips on how to thoroughly clean the steering wheel. A quick wipe with a microfiber cloth as shown in the video just doesn't cut it in my car. It seems there is a thick build up of dirt, oil and grime. I used a wet wipe for leather and it was literally black. It also left the steering wheel tacky to the touch. Not sure what else to do.
I like that you cover everything, think I need to get my seats steamed cleaned thou they now have water stains 😞 but this is good motivation ... thank-you
Congratulations, Melissa!!! I know this has been on your to-do list for some time now. How exciting to get it done! You guys should go out and celebrate tonight! I have a car without removable cup holder, so I the only thing that really gets it clean is the steam cleaner. I'll have to try a toothbrush next time for the other areas.
Thanks I always wondered how to get the dust out from the vents and other areas. Quick tip... always when you get out of the car take the trash with u, when u get home daily take everything with you , when you put gas in I clean out my car and have special car wipes ... and I always keep baby wipes and often as I am at signal light wipe the car
Pro tip! if you don't have the removable cup holders you can put a muffin liner in there to catch anything that falls, then you just have to throw out the liner!
For tight spaces around the front seats, I scrape the carpet with a toothbrush and hold the vacuum head next to it to capture whatever the toothbrush flings out.
Great video dear @Clean My Space. I was involved and still am involved in my two cars detailing as I am about to sell them. This is really important to clean a car thoroughly if one is keeping it or more importantly if one is about to sell it. Everybody likes a clean car. So it is giving more value and more customers are giving attention while passing through a cleaned car. Great tips you discussed as always. Regards,
Hi Melissa....nice job of detailing the inside of your car.....wouldn't it be great if it could be done in reality as fast as the video played. LOL A tip for you from me....I got this nifty gizmo at either Canadian Tire or the As Seen on TV store....it's like a 2 foot long mini-mop thing with a removable microfibre cloth fitted on the mop part...kind of like a swiffer idea....It makes cleaning the back window and the front windshield so much easier. Take care oxox
A clean car is the best feeling!! I am a clean freak but I nanny and have to drive the kids back and forth to school and I get so upset when they kick the back of my seats ha 😪
Melissa, be honest...do you usually clean your own car or have it detailed by someone else? :). This is such a helpful video, THANK YOU! Nothing better that hopping in that newly cleaned car.
Thanks for this great video! I wish I could clean my car in fast-forward. One conundrum I've got with getting my car clean, is that the seatbelts have become nasty. My interior is beige, and my daughter and I run marathons. Since we participated in 'The Color Run', they look extremely gross. I've tried buckling them and wiping them down, but the dirt stain goes farther. It's a two-sided, tricky-to-clean area that I think is often overlooked. Perhaps I'm the only person who has this problem, but we are very active, going to the beach and then get into the car wet or sweating, covered with suntan lotion, etc, etc
Awesome! Thanks for the tips. I live how you always include kids although you don't have any. My 3 certainly keep my car looking 🙀. I have to clear it out weekly
I have a Mercedes as well. 1980 450sl. I clean it the same way and keep it super clean. Food and drink is not allowed. There isn't even a cup holder. I use 303 Aerospace protectant. It has UV protectant. As part of my maintenance routine, I lubricate door hinges, locks, and anything else that requires it. Mercedessource. com has great kits for that.
I really enjoyed this video even though I don't have a car LOL Melissa I feel like Monica Geller in season 6, where she said to chandler "There was a really dirty car so I washed it." Chandler said "And?" Monica said "And 6 others." LOL ever since I subscribed to your channel, you make me wanna clean and even things that isn't mine like my family members rooms lol
i am glad that you mentioned how hard it is to vacuum the car. and that you will never get it prefect. of course.... OUTSIDE! When will we see the outside? :)
Amazing video, answered few of my questions, but i still have few unanswered. Please help me. One i find it hard to vacuum either sides on the front car seat, as the gap is too narrow, my vacuum brush fails to reach the corners. Two, how to clean the fibre car seat ( i am unable to describe the fibre but I'm pretty sure its not leather). i got some coffee spills and it looks bright white on the black car seat. please someone recommend a cleaning liquid/ solution.

Just did mine in my 15 year old Jetta, they look brand new. Pull them out and clamp them off. Take a bucket of hot soapy water and a handheld brush--- like a nailbrush. Pull it tight and scrub it up and down on both sides really well then spray them with a hose. Rinse and repeat Use lots of elbow grease. I alternated between that and using a rubbing alcohol soaked cloth to wipe them with. Leave your doors open so they dry completely the rest of the day. Enjoy the results.
Coincidentally, I got a spot of makeup foundation on the inside roof of my car. Do you have any recommendations on how to tackle it? I thought about using Shout detergent spot remover, and maybe some carpet cleaner? I think I should soak it,then blot to remove as much of the stain as possible l, then scrub. What do you think?
if the vacuum won't pick up the dirt or stones etc that is deep in the carpet fibres I get a harder bristled brush and brush it which brings it up to the surface of the carpet then it makes it easier to vacuum up
Melissa what can I use, as a handmade degreaser for my seat tracks?? Vinager and backing soda??? MY car is second hand and the track are in really bad shape please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very good video, I don't really clean my car because my husband takes them to a car wash, but for sure I'm going to put some of this tips on practice because my kids always leave sticky windows and doors. lol
What do you recommend for getting up liquid laundry detergent? Yes, I had almost and entire bottle leak from the back of my PT Cruiser under the rear passenger seat and onto the floorboard.
I never thought of taking the hose off of my canister vac and using it on my handheld. Such a good idea, Melissa!
Great video.

get silicone dollar store cupcake liners (or paper) to use in cup holders, you can throw them in the dishwasher and swap them out. they fit well in carseat cup holders too.
I have t cleaned my car in months !!! You have inspired me !!!
Melissa, let me tell you... you are AMAZING! I never writing comments before but,i love your videos i am learning from it.thank you.
"A line of fine crap"...I couldn't have described that annoying stuff any better, lol!!! I love your vids, Melissa...perfect timing for an Autumn car declutter :)
Thank you!!!! Youwent into detail that orher people haven't done before. Love the toothbrush on the crevices and baking soda on the matts. Genius.

Watching you vacuum the carpet in your trunk was way too satisfying.
You can use a hard bristle brush to get up any of the stuff from your carpet floor and it'll be easier to vacuum up.
I use the round brush attachment to my house vacuum to get the dirt out of the dash, steering wheel, radio, cupholders, etc at the same time. Saves a lot of time.
Perfectly timed video! I'm cleaning my car tomorrow. Thanks for taking the dread out of cleaning!

"I don't have kids. You guys know that." How things have changed.😂🤣😂
Adrian Lee Mahan I was looking for a comment like this 😆
It's kind of comforting to see how messy a cleaning guru's car is
I recommend a stiff bristle carpet brush to shake the small dirt up before vacuuming and while vacuuming
Most underrated video! 😮 nice work, Mel$ air compressor prolly speed up some of the tedious toothbrush work. Beautiful effort!
I like your strategy, it's effective, efficient and sexy ; however when you were vacuuming those car mats, i highly recommend to do a quick wipe underneath car mats (rubber part) to clean any remains of road dirt before final placement.
This is so useful. Thanks for sharing
You inspired me to clean my car myself instead of paying $200 to have it detailed. Thank you!
Perfect timing Melissa! Our car is in NEED of a deep clean. Thanks for the tips and motivation.
I'd better do this before it gets cold out because I won't do it again until it gets warm. Great video, as always.
This is the kind of video that can spur many females to want to clean their own car interiors.👍👍👍
This is the best car cleaning video - thank you Melissa!

I used to work at a full service car wash and this video makes me very happy :)
FINALLY!!!!
Thanks Melissa and Chad!!! :) My new car totally needs this. I like the suggestion about keeping a micro fiber cloth in the glove compartment.
Yessss!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Long waited but did an awesome job. Very professional and organized video! Loved it
Any chance of learning your estimated time of what it takes you to clean your rooms/car? Even if it is in the descriptions.
Clean My Space your amazing!

Good Idea the toothbrush, I hadn't thought of that. My seats are not leather, I just vaccum them. Should I use a carpet spray cleaner for the stains?
Very professional cleaning and video montage!!!!!
I like that you cover everything, think I need to get my seats steamed cleaned thou they now have water stains 😞 but this is good motivation ... thank-you
I miss the leather seats my older car had! 😭 I've been procrastinating cleaning my car and I am watching this for motivation
Right on time! Just got a new car and I'm going to try hard to keep it clean..never knew where to start.
Thank you so much for making a video for car cleaning. So many tips I have taken from this video that I would love to use on my car. 😀

You clean fast! I'll have whatever you're drinking. You're not cleaning in there, you're flyin' low through that car, vwooosh!
She finally had on shoes. Still not sure if she owns socks. I love her with all my heart!
Philip Morise lol wtf
Philip Morise you weirdo

For tight spaces around the front seats, I scrape the carpet with a toothbrush and hold the vacuum head next to it to capture whatever the toothbrush flings out.
Great video dear @Clean My Space. I was involved and still am involved in my two cars detailing as I am about to sell them. This is really important to clean a car thoroughly if one is keeping it or more importantly if one is about to sell it. Everybody likes a clean car. So it is giving more value and more customers are giving attention while passing through a cleaned car. Great tips you discussed as always. Regards,

+Clean My Space or to get the crumbs out of the seats you could use the crevice tool on the vcuum cleaner.
Thank you! Im going to do this when I get back from out of town, cause my car CERTAINLY needs this!
Washing car windows
Melissa, be honest...do you usually clean your own car or have it detailed by someone else? :). This is such a helpful video, THANK YOU! Nothing better that hopping in that newly cleaned car.
Just got my license, and definitely looking forward to driving in a clean car! Thank you for making this video! :)
Thanks so much for a comprehensive video! You really covered everything! 😊
Great video, very helpful as always. Any chance of one doing the outside of car?
Loved the idea to designate a makeup brush and toothbrush for dusting! 😊 Laura
Yeah, you finally did it! The car cleaning video you've been promising. Good job!
You should get some WeatherTech mats for inside your car, perfect for slushy snowy mess in the wintertime.

You are not alone on this.
Janice B best thing is to have them steam cleaned or carpet extractor and they will look like new
Just did mine in my 15 year old Jetta, they look brand new.
Thank You !!! I am starting to drive for Uber and having clean car is a most. Thanks for all the tips.
your car is very nice! and I just finished cleaning my mom and dad's car, and got curious how other people clean cars lol
You should get weathertech mats for your car! It saves your carpet and is amazing in the winter
Mine really needs a good deep clean! Thanks for the motivation 😎
This helped me get in the mood to clean my van. Thanks.
Could you do a video on cleaning leather furniture specifically? Especially couches/sofas?
if the vacuum won't pick up the dirt or stones etc that is deep in the carpet fibres I get a harder bristled brush and brush it which brings it up to the surface of the carpet then it makes it easier to vacuum up
I really liked this video, could you also do one on the outside of the car as well?
Melissa what can I use, as a handmade degreaser for my seat tracks?? Vinager and backing soda??? MY car is second hand and the track are in really bad shape please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very good video, I don't really clean my car because my husband takes them to a car wash, but for sure I'm going to put some of this tips on practice because my kids always leave sticky windows and doors. lol
Putting re-usable cupcake baking cups in your cup holders are great for easier cleanups! :)
I heard a good idea is to use the handheld vacuum to vacuum under the vents/etc while you're dusting with your brush.
Melissa, any tips on how to clean my car's headliner?
What do you recommend for getting up liquid laundry detergent? Yes, I had almost and entire bottle leak from the back of my PT Cruiser under the rear passenger seat and onto the floorboard.
YIKES!!! My freshly washed car has been bombed by birds, and the mess dried for a full day before I saw it! What do you use to remove bird droppings?
This is the video I've been waiting for. It has so much useful information! Thank you!!!👍🏻🚘
