My parents took me and siblings to Shields Date Gardens back in the 1960s. Finally made it back in 2019 and all I can say it was both nostalgic and delicious. The gift shop and garden walk was a throwback to vintage roadside shops and the food - especially the date shake - was superb. In fact, the date shake was unreal! Definitely a must-see for anyone making their own Great American Road Trip!
I recently visited Shields Date Garden. It is absolutely wonderful. The grounds are pristine, have pathways that are easy to walk, a small lake, water fountain, and beautiful plants and trees. I believe there is a new owner.
I am from Algeria, exactly from Biskra-Tolga the origin of these Palms and Dates, we call this kind ''Deglet Noor'' the best quality of dates in the world
There's a classic movie set in a date farm, 1939's "They Made Me a Criminal" combination of film noir and comedy. Stars John Garfield, Claude Rains, Gloria Dickson, and The Dead End Kids. Has a happy ending.
Love this place and am promoting it, I have been there 2X and this last time also ate at the restaurant and it was fabulous. At the resturant I got the stuffed dates and they were incredible and something I am going to try and replicate, I also purchased some of the blonde dates, while I love all of the dates, I am so in love with the Blonde and it for me, is the best date I have ever had, well except with my now wife.
