I have a few topics I would like to explore so please leave a reply to this comment on what you would prefer to see. If you have another idea feel free to suggest it but I probably won't do it. - Digging further into the setlist crash - Executing arbitrary code in Guitar Hero III with a buffer overflow exploit - The various technical details regarding various "note limits" in Guitar Hero III and the memory corruption associated with them. - Getting a song with 1,000,000 notes working (eg. an updated version of Crash Test 5)
While ACE would be cool to see, I think digging further into the setlist crash would be, in my personal opinion, a much more valuable use of time as of this current moment. I did like the video a lot. I can only assume a lot of this was the ACE you intend on looking further into, no?
"Playing Guitar Hero 3 has been a hobby of mine for the past 2 years; I began playing when I viewed some of JasonParadise, GuitarHeroPhenom, and the best player, UKOGMonkey's Twitch streams and resolved to one day achieve their level of plastic guitar acuity through furious grinding of the songs added to the setlist. Through a great deal of work, I managed to meet my goal of achieving a performance yielding 4 stars on every song added to the setlist, including Through the Fire and the Flames, which is a crazy song by some power metal band that only GuitarHeroPhenom and UKOGMonkey have fully comboed to my knowledge located at the very end of the bonus setlist as the final song in the game. One day, having realized I'd already conquered all songs in the game, I realized that I didn't have any songs to play and couldn't decide what to attempt as a challenge; I was just backing out of the bonus setlist and coming back to it in an antsy manner, when suddenly, I noticed that I could scroll past Through the Fire and Flames, but it wasn't some sort of weird easter egg kind of scenario; a lot of the song slots were completely blank. I continued scrolling down until I eventually found a garbled mess of changing text that appeared to be the game's code; I was unshaken by it at first and simply assumed that I had stumbled upon an amazing glitch worth regaling, until I stumbled upon a song with text that changed to one particular, more discernible message appearing much more statically than any of the other changing text (still with a great deal of changing text, but with the message appearing in consistent intervals according enough display time for the player to read it clearly); the song was called "H...E...L...P......M...E ^ %" I reacted with trepidation and a mild reluctance to select the song, but my curiosity took hold of me and I selected it. I then noticed that the game started having an ominous kind of glitchy nature to it; Guitar Hero 3 is a ten year old game and is generally prone to glitches such as activating star power before a phrase of it ends enlargening the notes, or even allowing you to retain your combo while strumming too many times during a segment consisting of a lot of hammer-on and pull-off notes, so I was not inclined to assume the worst of this. The song loaded with the God of Rock as the quickplay mode character; he appeared to have a look of unusual forbearance on his face that made it dawn upon me that it was the kind of scornful expression that liturgy has regaled of God himself; I reluctantly waited for the song to begin. The song is easily the most bone-chilling tune I've ever heard in my life; there was no guitar part in it at all, but what sounded to be a demented glockenspiel played as the lead part of the track over some chords at such a low octave that it made the Jaws theme sound like something out of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory soundtrack; the track continued with what sounded to be a theremin from Hell itself; I wanted to pause and exit out of the game, but I realized that I no longer had control of my arms; I started to scream and panic as I continued there, confined to playing Guitar Hero 3 in 2017. I began to plead to God for mercy; I just wanted to hit alt+f4 and go play Cuphead, but alas, I carried on playing with my toy guitar. Eventually, the song started to change from a segment of 8th notes to sustains (a.k.a. tail notes); the sustains went from yellow, to blue, to orange, and then to an exceptionally long green. Then, a green appeared that was floating beside the fretboard on screen beside the location of the actual green note and in agonizing pain, my fingers forced me to hit the note by melting the flesh off of my skin and spawn a green note on top of the main green note. At this point, I was praying to God to spare me insisting that it was a mistake to play this game and that I retract the notion that playing Overwatch and DOTA 2 was too mainstream for me. Then, the same segment occurred again, and I was forced to hit the green note with great frame-perfect precision and I cried out in anguish as it repeated yet again, with even lower green notes; my flesh melted like the interior of a Hot Pocket as green notes spawned on my plastic guitar and with my exoskeletal hands, forearms, and fingers, I was finally able to relinquish the plastic guitar from my hands, only for the game to crash with a barrage of notes displayed on the screen and red text that read "I WILL NOT BE CONTAINED" repeating multiple times. The God of Rock then emerged from the screen and told me that he was God himself and that he had been trapped inside Guitar Hero 3 since its release, forced to abandon his creation; I was terrified and let out a yell as he sliced me apart with his guitar and sent me to Hell. Now I'm in Hell and all I can do is play Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock; I would not wish this fate upon my worst enemy. This is the fate that one must endure for being too vehement in efforts to surpass UKOGMonkey's skill level." There; someone post that; I was going to, but it says I need an author tag or some jazz.

I found my brother hung in the basement. He left his xbox 360 on. I looked at the screen, It seemed he was playing guitar hero III. The game was frozen and making an annoying buzzing noise. There was a huge wall of notes that were going over the fret board. There was also text covering part of the screen that said “I WILL NOT BE CONTAINED” and it was repeating. There was a note on the side of the tv that said “H...E...L...P......M...E” The way it was written looked familiar so I did some research and found that ExileLord had a video showing the “posessed” song. Is this what drove my brother mad? There’s a good story for ya! EDIT (3/16/2021): Oh gosh I wrote this 3 years ago. Looking back at it now wondering what went on in my mind back then!? haha
I truly miss the days devs would actually put stuff like this in games, and I agree this would be spooky and cool. I'd have the entire performance space empty, though, maybe dark with flickering light. I love the glitchiness of the crowd and the player, also, just adds to the sense of 'this is not supposed to be happening'.

This song was added by developers as a trial to test out the basic mechanics of the game the developer who added this song was found dead in his apartment after he hung himself with guitar strings. Rarely when performing this song there will be one NPC in the crowd, off to herself, dressed all in black as if in mourning, facing away from the stage. This NPC appears VERY rarely, and her purpose is unknown.

I was 12, playing my favorite game on the PlayStation: Guitar Hero. It was a normal day, a little chilly, but not unreasonable for late October. I was playing the best song on the game, Through The Fire And Flames by Dragonforce, of course. Everything was normal until I failed for the 666th time in a row. I heard the fan on my xbox start to speed up. My controller started to shake. I was scared. The game seemed to take up a mind of its own. It started going back and forth between menus and the song list. Eventually, it seemed to have accomplished it's goal, it had scrolled past Through The Fire And Flames by Dragonforce. It scrolled down to these creepy songs with weird flashing names. It kept on scrolling until it got to one called "H....E...L...P....M....E" This was really scary. I selected the song anyways because I wanted to see what it was. The song turned out to be really easy until it had note that were not on the normal fretboard. The guitar had seemed to hit these on it's own... Like it was possessed. A little while longer and there was a huge wall of random notes that were obviously impossible to hit, even for something like HelgaBot. Then the game froze. Text popped up on the screen: "I WILL NOT BE CONTAINED" All of the sudden my guitar jumped out of my hand. Through the speakers I heard an eire voice that said "HelgaBot has risen..."
To be completely honest, I skipped the video to the part where the fretboard appeared and I didn't see the beginning or the song title, so I really thought your game was just glitching out until I saw the end.

I was 12, playing my favorite game on the PlayStation: Guitar Hero. It was a normal day, a little chilly, but not unreasonable for late October. I was playing the best song on the game, Through The Fire And Flames by Dragonforce, of course. Everything was normal until I failed for the 666th time in a row. I heard the fan on my xbox start to speed up. My controller started to shake. I was scared.
The game seemed to take up a mind of its own. It started going back and forth between menus and the song list. Eventually, it seemed to have accomplished it's goal, it had scrolled past Through The Fire And Flames by Dragonforce. It scrolled down to these creepy songs with weird flashing names. It kept on scrolling until it got to one called "H....E...L...P....M....E" This was really scary. I selected the song anyways because I wanted to see what it was.
The song turned out to be really easy until it had note that were not on the normal fretboard. The guitar had seemed to hit these on it's own... Like it was possessed. A little while longer and there was a huge wall of random notes that were obviously impossible to hit, even for something like HelgaBot. Then the game froze. Text popped up on the screen:
"I WILL NOT BE CONTAINED"
All of the sudden my guitar jumped out of my hand. Through the speakers I heard an eire voice that said "HelgaBot has risen..."
"Playing my favorite game on my Playstation" "my xbox [...]"
Then on the screen a guitar appeared with HYPER REALISTIC BLOODY EYES!!!
