In 1993 my uncle took me to a Giant's game. Willie Mays was in the stadium that day. My uncle had told me that he knew Willie. Of course I thought that my uncle was full of it. Twords the end of the game my uncle took me up a elevator and introduced me to Mr Mays. Apparently they played golf together. Willie was great. Very easy to talk to.

I’m was born in Oakland 1956 by 1965 I was starting to see the game .Willie was showing what a player is. MJ , Curry of baseball skill wise .
Basket catch any where on the field . asked if it was showboating said no just a better way for me to come out throwing .
Runners didn’t test Willie , he’d throw a bullet to third or second base , home plate , as a runner He’d make everybody stop running because they don’t wanna get gunned down .

It was only years later that it occurred to me that there were four future HOFers in that game. Carlton, Schmidt, Seaver and Mays. I remember we got there early and I went down by the field while Willie was playing catch on the side with somebody and I thought “Wow, Willie Mays is standing 10 feet away from me!” It seemed like a huge deal to me at that time. Thanks Dad, it was a great night, RIP.

The greatest overall embassador of the game of baseball, and possibly in all of sports that ever was in the world. He played and lived the right way. Whatever you do in life, have fun and enjoy it. Always be positive, no matter the outcome. I don't believe I've ever heard anything bad about him, or anything about him being angry about anything. Certainly a role model for everyone across all walks of life and all ages. You are, and will be missed very much, Willie. I'm sure you know that you took a piece of the heart of baseball with you. Willie is on deck and I hollered "hey Willie." He looked up and hollered "hey Son". That was a great thrill for me. Cardinals and Gibby won the game 1 to 0. What a pitchers duel. Never forget that.
