Hi my sister in Ghana one acre take 300 plantain suckers but in you will spend 2000ghc if everything go well you can get 12000ghc as a profit Ghana now average plantain price costs 50ghc it is good business in Ghana now

Kudos. You've really done a good job breaking it down. But I think clearing 5 to 7 times before harvest is way too much given that harvest is between 7 to 9 months for the kind of specie I know. Thumbs up to you, once again.
Constant rainfall affects the number of times to weed
Plus is you are blessed with a very fertile land then the weeds will grow like a pest. Best to add vegetables in spaces between trees when they are above 3 feet tall and instead of weeding you are making money when you cut them. Pepper and tomatoes might also work if you have a an available market for them. Just get the best products to plant. The types that makes the eyes of market traders pop out when they see how good it is. Storage and faster transfer times to the markets must be accounted for too. Better if they see it before you harvest them so they just collect and leave.

Hi Julie! I have been following your series especially on plantain farming. But concerning the number of suckers to be planted,I reach out to a consultant here in Imo State who told me than an acre can only take 378 suckers (63 per plot X 6 plots) and that the 800 suckers is impossible unless I don't want them to grow. I am confused and listening to this video again now,u said 800 again,is 800 really the standard spacing practice for plantain or is it for profit purpose? I wish you operate in the Southeast. Land here goes for millions per plot
An acre should contain 700 _ 800 suckers
Some do 1000 suckers
And the crop Will yield maximally without competing for nutrients? Please do you handle farm set up in the Southeast-Imo axis ? I heard you say u left acres of Cassava farm in Asaba
