Do make sure to consider all the steps involved in our commercial plantain field setup when you're going into your field setup. don't forget to get help from us if you're a little bit overwhelmed by the whole processes involved in the project setup. we would be happy to help you get established the right way.
Brother Chidav, your choice of 2 x 2m planting pattern is fantastic, because you will have a very good leaf canopy after about 7 months, thereby suppressing weeds. Please use the PIF technique of plantain multiplication to obtain many healthy plantlets from just one sucker within 4 months. You could team up with a Cameroonian and also master this technique so that you can use just a few suckers to produce many suckers. In Cameroon, a plantain nursery can use 1000 suckers to pruduce 100,000 plantlets within 4 months. For example: /watch?v=D-CZScYjMo0 Please discourage our people from using dangerous chemicals in farming. There are organic nematicides, for example. Systemic Herbicides are dangerous and are not very necessary in plantain cultivation. Use leguminous cover crops instead, Keep up the good work, Bro..
Nice one , can someone make a nursery of the suckers before transplanting ? Also does the farm need to be irrigated or does it have to be done during the raining season only ? What about the chemicals in what quantities ? Thanks for the info. ❤❤
Thank you so much for this wonderful training. I'm in delta state presently to set up a little plantation on just a 50by100 size of land. And I hope it goes well.
Well done brother. Can we a sample of your mature farm, already bearing? How much does a sucker cost and how much do you charge for one hectare cultivation
Please can I also get red high breed cocoyams, cos I want to place order for both plantain, pineapple & cocoyams, I will call when my farm land is ready, thanks.
You did not mention the chemicals for disinfecting the planting materials, and the nematicide. I strongly feel that it would have given more credit to your performance. Kudos thus far.
Well, we do not offer free advert for agrochemical companies, hence we do not mwntion agrochemical product's brands. You can get any brand of insecticide and fungicide from agrochemical store around you.
I have just planted at least a hundred trees recently. I missed three steps, and those are 1. treatment of the soil, applying herbicides, and disinfecting the suckers. What are the chemicals being used, please?
1 - Treatment of the soil? You just need manure. You could use woodash as a very effective nematicide and potassium source. 2 - Poisonous herbicides are a no-go. What you apply as poison is what you will eat. The result could be cancer, .as.o.. Instead plant using a 2x2m pattern and intercrop with a leguminous cover crop like cow peas. 3 - It is prefarable to plant using "PIF"-Plantlets, which are very healthy and best to plant. Here is a an example of the PIF-Technique: /watch?v=D-CZScYjMo0
