- Fixing a slipping kickstart on a kx 80 dirt bike this is the same on nearly all old vintage dirt bike kickstart, all shafts have a spring if its still on and doing this stretch your spring for more tensions if you aren't buying a new one
Damper ring and the half friction plate onto clutch hub first and not at end
OK no probs if this is correct then this is the way. it still ran good how the damper ring was fitted on removal
Thank you, this video was a lifesaver! Obtained a basket case recently and the kick start lever was sticking. After pulling it apart, it looks like it wasnt aligned and the collar was put on wrong. Sad to say I just had to order a mechanism on ebay because most of the mechanism was destroyed due to improper installation over a prolonged period of time. Shout out for your video!
Spot on buddy I'm glad it helped thanks for watching good luck with your bike👍👍
Thank you, great help!
Cheers man thanks for watching
Thanks need to have a crack at my yz80 soon
What ya got like m8
The best way to lock a clutch is to stick a penny in between the basket gear and the crank gear. You can't possibly fuck anything up because copper is softer than steel. Done it a million times
Yeah but the middle of the clutch still spins when turning the bolt even it the primary drive cog and back of clutch basket has a penny in(the middle isn't locked) I always use pennys but u can't to slacken a inner clutch
Now mate are you from north east like? I’m having some troubles with a yz80 I’ve bought and was wondering if you could help mate
Yes m8 consett whats up with it insta easy to message me qiucker m8
Messaged you off our lasses insta mate
Got it bro👌
Hey man did it happen to stop returning back to top position after you made this repair ? Doesnt seem like u got the kickstart return coil spring deep enough in the hole
No m8 was perfect that's as far as it goes in the hole
@@2strokemxclassics sweet nice I just did my yz400f full rebuild and didn’t put mine deep enough came out after 2 rides ! Just figured out it goes deeeep on mine ! Happy wrenching
No probs brother, yeah it's OK av just stripped a dtr tonight and that looks like the springs come off it's all damaged, happy restoring have you got any vids on yours cos a like the old yz
cheers mate..on doing a dtr now,was doing same thing
Thanks for watching m8👍
I have an ‘85 Kawasaki kaite80 and I drive it, something clicks. We already have taken apart the transmission and put it back on and it just started leaking oil. I’m thinking it might need a new clutch. Any idea on how to fix the problem?
Do u hava vid of it
Kickstart shaft thes spring on there I would have to hear if
@@2strokemxclassics if i try and start it, it’s leaking oil bad, and it will most likely screw up the engine if we keep on starting it.
I'd honestly need to hear it cos could be a lot of things were is the oil leaking from
Fill with oil and fix the leak and the clicking will stop maybes
Hi i have a problem on my 80yz 2001 clutch could i have your contact plz to explain. Thanks a lot
Nice man
Hello, how are you? Do you know where spring (Part# 92144-1370) goes in the clutch basket?
Hi there its the damper ring it goes on top of the second friction plate fitted, it's wavy like an extra spring👍
Thanks mate
No probs m8 thanks for watching 👍
I have the same dirtbike
Fast little things aren't they, best model kx 80 made on this 88 to 90 year
So I have a kx100 1989 I took the clutch plate off to do the kickstart spring an the gear shift rod but now its back together the clutch won't work, I put everything back as was so.... I'm lost any ideas
Is the clutch slack wen levers pulled in m8
The clutch seems slack full stop mate seems like the clutch release rod isn't reaching the push plate thing u know the little bit that goes in the bearing last
M8 the round part that the stopper fits in can fit in 2 ways one side is wider than the other wen fitted which would make the stopper miss the arm u could try that other that that it can be a washer missing
Type this into Google 130911517 yal see how it can be fitted 2 ways I've a 88 rebuild engine on here which will show whick way it fits
I've put the stopper back the right way but I am missing that last washer, I brought the bike as a project an seems to be bodged all over. Any idea where or size of the washer so I can source one? And tnaks for ur help brother appreciate it
I sure wish you would have showed putting those clutch springs back in and how you're supposed to tighten those...
Hi The springs just go in anyway there all the same length etc and the bolts just tighten up with an 8 mm socket, it mite not be in this vid but it will be in my other vids how they go on
@@2strokemxclassics Ok thanks and I noticed your other videos after the fact. Sorry for speaking out of turn.
It's no probs man👍
