- In today's video, we make an use the ZVS flyback driver to create high power Arc Gloves. These arc gloves are extremely dangerous ( I have no sense of safety to be honest ) so do not try this at home!! Anyways thanks for watching! I appreciate you all!

Love the Cave Johnson reference! XD maybe next up is a combustible lemon???
Hmmmm......... I like where this is going.
*Injects nitroglycerin into lemon and throws it*
Bweiss1234 So many Portal fans here. :D
Next video, he's made it portable and has made it to the bank.
Third video, now it's larger and can the batman stand up to it.
fourth video, the world will pay up or monuments will begin being demolished.
Fifth video needs to be re uploaded after #jla filed false copyright claim.
Ha Ha Ha !
you and the backyard scientist should work together and make GOD level science!
This is one of the best channels I've subbed in a long time! Keep em coming bro...
Congrats on 100k dude!
I just found your channel (having left Grant Thompson channel long ago due to his... change in attitude over content) and that reference to Cave Johnson definitely got me subbed anyway. Happy to be a part of your community !
same project with much more resistant gloves, the spark gap at the finger tips and a small tube that blows air attached to the inside of one of the spark gap fingers. air supply controlled by the same Switch that the current is. blows in the same direction as the fingers point.
Your vids are very interesting! Keep up the good work👌
I love your videos! obviously i had to do a lot of reading to get to where I could confidently and safely work with hv. however for my power supplies I just use q see or altronix 12v or 24v 10-20 amp power distribution units from security camera and alarm systems. they get junked all the time and are only like 15$ on Amazon for smaller ones thought I'd let you know as you said power source was one of more expensive parts. keep up the good work!
I love what you do, thank you for supporting the engineering community!
You should consider a dead man switch, say a foot pedal, that would disconnect the circuit as a just in case...
im one of the back yard scientist subscribers when he give u the shout out i checked ur channel i was blown cause u only have 121k subs ! any way keep up the good work u are talented !
love your videos keep it coming
Steadily improving. Good work!-
4:35 that was awesome man!!!!!
I was subbed to Keystone Science before it was cool...
I'm saying
Here, have a cookie for that!
Matt Hunter same
i subscribed to him at about 40k i think but im not sure
I subscribed after it was cool. No regrets.
That Cave Johnson reference really resonated with me.
I've got an idea: you could make "trivia" videos where you don't actually build something but explain stuff. For example how powerful those arcs the imperator shot out of his hands in star wars episode 6 must have been if they were actual high voltage current. Could be interesting.
A daily occurrence at Blasted Science HQ:
"Hey, why haven't we made a video on [cool science experiment]?"
"Because Keystone Science already freaking did that"
Haha sorry about that xD also what part of Utah are you from? ( I am also from Utah )
Helloooo Keysone!
P.S Great letter pinning technique
Congratulations on the shout out I wonder how much subscriber it got you
been a subscriber for awhile grats on the shout out bro!
lol, these videos are epic. one thing though, can you put the terminals on the fingers (and attach a much larger PS to it), so that you can do arc welding with the glove?
also, any chance for a video on creating an RTG, and using that RTG to power an ion thruster? :D
Dude! Your Portal reference got you a new subscriber. XD
I absolutely love Portal. :D
Speaking of Cave Johnson, you should totally make a combustible lemon. lol. I'm joking. I enjoy your videos bro. Keep it up. I'm in my thirties and my dad got my into tinkering when I was 6. I'll tell you one thing, the desire and drive never goes away. It just gets more expensive. Lol. Keep up the good work.
Make a stun glove where you just attach the $5 stun gun to your hand with the battery pack in an extended part of the glove on your arm and a momentary switch like the one by your finger.
Nate i thought the same it would be kinda cool
I recommend increasing voltage, decreasing ampage, I made that but a lighter version running 3 million volts, but 50 milliamperes and it works great
I can't wait to make this. I love your videos. I'm 38 yrs old and I Show my 13 yr old your videos. I've made a Jacob's ladder from your videos. I really enjoy learning anything kool. Keep it coming and good luck with college.
Kevin Felker I don't think he is 13 years old
My son is 13.
next you should make a time machine. don't know what you would do with it but hey Imagen if you could get your camera to go back with you and record the civil war or something. yes this is a joke comment because obliviously recording the past would get you in trouble with the TPP (time patrol police)
About a year ago I made my take on a plasma/taser glove it used an electric bug swatter, a capacitor from an air conditioner and a lot of hot glue! But it worked like a charm to freak out my friend. :)
This is powerful enough to be a plasma sword!
maybe contemplate supercapacitors instead of batteries, very fast charge time, less weight, and simpler electronics, although probably less zaps out of a charge
Amazing video!!! Can I use that to power my ionic lifter?? Thx
what if you put on a latex glove and your arc glove over that. maybe use one of those heavy duty gloves that are sold for household cleaning. that should keep you safe.
Could you build a microphone from a toaster? If it is possible could you leave the roasting function too?
I was wondering if he heard that on JaidenAnimations XD . She once said that her first video had the audio quality of a toaster.
+Flare419 hmmm come to think of it I probably did... I haven't seen her videos in a while, but I remember watching that, so it must have subconsciously stayed with me xD
My friend shocked my hand with the two outputs of one of these fly backs, and it arced directly to my hand, it did not burn me at all and he shocked me for like half a second😂👌
Would make a "killer" April fools hand shake prank.
i have seen "zvs drivers" on aliexpress and ebay with only 2 connection points and no center tap. these also have a second inductor. they seem to be geared towards induction heating but will they work for flyback transformers?
Build a project enclosed inside an Altoids box! their are so many possibilities.. (tazer, Phone charger, radio) Im sure you could make something!
Idea for another video:
sonic screwdriver from Doctor Who with UV light, EMP, taser, and whatever else you can fit.
hey dude, do a 'CRT with a fridge compressor' video! it would be really cool!
happy birthday.
Hi keystone! I've made my own flyback ZVS driver and got it to work for a little bit and had a 4+4 centertap primary around the ferrite core on my flyback. However, when I upped that to 7+7, I believe that the thing arced inside the secondary and no longer works. Do you know if there is a way to combat this so that it doesn't happen? Thanks! I absolutely love your videos.
Edit: Also, where can I get cheap flyback transformers? I know that you can salvage them from old TV's, but I don't really want to go through the hassle of buying 100 pounds of crt and having to recycle all of it.
I get them for about 20 bucks on eBay.
Hey bro shake my hand… “why are you wearing a glove?”… don’t worry about it bro
surprisingly I sub to keystone science but not backyard science
You have sent data over radio waves, but can you build a project that sends data/music over the visual light spectrum. Maybe something like a laser or LED lamp?
Love your stuff and wish you the best. Thanks!
Noah Hoffman yep! And I have! ( both with LEDs and with a Laser ) :D
And there are videos on those I have made if you want to see it!
glad I can say I subbed before 40k :)
somebody needs to make a counter counting how many times he says "and then", or "and so".
I have an idea! Make a pulsating LED circuit; that should be fairly simple.
I think it Would be great if you did a video on how to make one of the large Tesla coils that is in the background of your lab.
use a fly back and add a villard cascade multiplier circuit to it get some really hv arcs
I like your shirt, I have the same one!!!
the sound you made when it shocked you tho. 😂😂😂😂😂
It would be better as an extra kick to your punch. In other words, you should hot glue it to the knuckle part of the gloves.
That’s really cool
+keystone_science ...cooking meat with high voltage(as a video idea)? it would be interesting and also a good demonstration of why to be safe when handling electricity.
Next video add an argon gas supply, a pulse frequency box and get welding some aluminium ^^
Collab with backyard scientist! Make a Guass gun!
It would be awesome to see you make an electrolaser- it is a device that uses a laser to ionize air and create a channel for electricity.
Thank dear for giving knowledge full information and plz make a video x ray tube project..plz plz
try to use home electricity directly to make arc with graphite electrode.
i try to blow air on it, and it can cut some thin matal plate, like a plasma cutter.
What happens if you spray adomized a salt water solution through the ionized plasma, would it be like a instant hydrogen torch
how does ozone taste?😂😅😂
The real question is how he would have anything to reference that taste to. When does anyone ever taste ozone besides this?
4:33 that was an odd sound...
you planning on becoming a superhero or something?
Yes! The first portal reference since I watched season two of the walking dead!
I feel like he is young rick from rick and morrty
im surprised you aren't emo with the amount of cuts you just did
penguin pincher hahaha xD
But basically you can have a amperage limiter to limit the amount of current to make it less lethal, right?
could this drive a xenon bulb, turning it on/off in timed cycle ?
Basically, you cranked up the old hand buzzer to 11 with this thing. :)
How much amps outputed?
Awesome!!!
is the arc hit you would it shock you or just burn?
+Vincent Balmont both
@Backyardscientist not probaly but IT WILL
I know you already said it is a bad idea to make a lot of the stuff you do make and that it is very dangerous, but can I still make some safety advice? Use less paper. It looked like you almost got burned, or something else burned, a few times in the video.
In ten years he either invented technology that changed the way we live or he is dead. Judging by this video my money is on the latter.
Doctor Horrible is supposed to be singing!
Make Some more Flyback videos
which bike do you own...the one in the background in intro.. outside the window.
that heat shrink gets a little hard to get on sometime hu!? ;)
How do you taste the Ozone at the first place to compare
+ritik when I was doing some projects with ion thrust a while ago, it produced a lot of ozone, and it has a distinctive taste and smell in the air
Keystone Science ohhh😮 confusion solved
Backyard Scientist sent me here & I subscribe
I really enjoy your videos, but I think you might get a few people telling you this isn't safe and you taught people how to do it, though you did have a disclaimer.
Could you find a safe way to "tattoo" skin with the lichtenberg figures without harming (or killing the subject).
Anyone think he looks like the new spiderman?
young rick
Have you ever heard of Colin furze.
I have a practical use for it! Burning all the bills ;)
Please I need how to make this circuit and I want to use another type of MOSFET
can you make a Tesla coil with something like a boost converter?
Keystone science were do you get your cuircuitry parts from all my radioshack's are closing, lol
+Jesse Toland haha yes, all the RadioShacks around me closed as well xD so I just order things off eBay ( it's a lot cheaper ) and I also just salvage parts from old electronics ( mainly old crt tvs I find and microwaves )
Keystone Science nice, thanks for the reply I will definitely take your advice👍
The Apple Liberation Front will have their day.
you look like the new spiderman
Friggin tony stark all up in here.
FYI: Based on the resistance of your skin, it takes 48V to kill you. Since this is running at 32V, even if it crossed your heart, you would be fine.
+Randy Hugick the output of this is around 60,000 volts, and that is that is at approximately 500ma, this is likely not going to kill you if for a brief moment it shocked you, but with an exposed it would at least burn up your hand and perhaps burn veins internally, which would not be good
Ah. I see. I misunderstood. After watching your other video, I saw that the input was 32V and the output was estimated 60,000. That makes more sense as to why the arcs were so hot. Anyways. Keep up the good/fun work.
+Randy Hugick thanks! :D
friend make small arc welder with 12v ups transformer
Sir please could you make a good model that could be made with material that we could get in our home
Video Idea: Can you show us how to make a DIY Kirlian Photography setup ? Perhaps an arrangement for stills and video ? Thanks .
It's like something from shadowrun.
"It would hurt very bad probably"
