- Today on Halfmilesniper, I ask - Hey, where's the recoil? Shooting the Savage Impulse after installing the brake. Let's see how well the Precision Armament M4-72 Severe Duty Muzzle Brake tames the recoil.
Halfmilesniper Merch can be found at: halfmilesniper...
AND.. and.. the cold bore shot was on the Winchester as well..
Damn nice shooting Half, damn nice, totally impressive, and now a stupid question, what brand of coffee do you drink? lol. I know it's stupid but I was curious.
Thanks Bob, the rifle made it easy, it really did.
Now about coffee...that is a tricky one. If I am buying it is regular old filling station coffee, straight black, too many years drinking mud on patrol, LOL. If I am making, Community Coffee dark or medium blend, again straight black. Most days at the range I am sipping away at 24 ounces of jet black filling station brew from my favorite Shell station.
Man o man ..at 100 yard the hostage wound not have a head 🤪, and yes at 100 yards the 300 will put a nice size dimple on a ar500 steel.
Hostage taker would definitely be running around with a canoe head, lol. The 300 WinMag smacked that steel hard.
.30 cal rifles like those heavy bullets. IMO
That is true, my personal .308 like the 175 grain bullets and this 300 Win Mag definitely liked the 180 grainers. Thanks for watching!
I'll forgive you this time for forgetting the ammo 🤣🤣🤣 I keep missing the premiere cause it's archery season here and by the time I get back home it's time to eat. Take care Mike good shooting.
Being afield is a very valid reason for missing the live. Hope you fill your tags. Appreciate you watching, thanks!
there is only one place to store your mag & bolt that's in the rifle where they belong .
I agree David, but this is actually someone else's rifle s I stored it the way they stored it (we'll talk, LOL). But, on the plus side, I get to squeeze another video out of this rifle, LOL. I appreciate you watching, thanks!
It could of been worse halfmile. You could of left the coffee on the tool box .
That would make me round trip it back home to get the coffee...mag and maybe some ammo I can work around, coffee..no way, LOL.
Im dually subscribed on both my youtube accounts now
Thank you, I appreciate that and I really appreciate you watching.
Thanks I appreciate that, and I really appreciate you watching!
Thumped the steel pretty dang hard
Thumped it like it owed us money, lol.
Yeah you killed it Halfmile be safe and GOD BLESS Amen 🙏
I was amazed at how hard this thing slammed the steel. It packs a whollop.
Just subscribed, your gooood!
Thanks for subbing! I really appreciate the comment and the sub and obviously appreciate you watching!
That big boy shoots great
Shoots pretty well, I did another nice group with it this morning, will be editing that video soon.
Nice shootin
Thanks Robert, this rifle is starting to grow on me. I might have to get my own.
👍👍
Thanks for watching Sir, I really appreciate it.
I’m a little late
No problem...WhoTee had a great live going...hated to bail for my video too.
Hey Halfmile
Hey Randle, so glad to see you cruising the internet.
I'm impressed with the Impulse & the brake both. Temperature does come into play but I think that brake helped tighten groups. Plus definitely cut down recoil by maybe 50%. Really nice groups. 👍 🇺🇸 🙏 🎯
The side by side video really didn't show how much the recoil was abated. It was very mild, way more than a 50% reduction according to the screws in my shoulder, LOL. The reticle barely moved on the target and the recoil was pretty much straight back. I agree that the brake helped tighten the group...can't wait to see how it affects the Norma ammo...maybe it'll shoot good. Thanks for watching Bill, I really appreciate it.
@@Halfmilesniper I usually try to watch recoil & the target hits at same time. I did notice watching after replaying the recoil that it wasn't as hard straight back as without the brake. Maybe like a 270? Best thing is it was a push back & not up at the cheekrest into the cheek & glasses. Very nice setup & looks like you've got that bolt pull down pat. Good video.
@@billdye3530 the recoil is pretty much straight back with nearly no muzzle jump. Very impressed with this Severe Duty brake.
👍 🇺🇲
Nice shooting! Man, that hits hard.
You speak so smoothly and naturally throughout each of your videos when you're knowledge and confident with the subject, but may I suggest you work out a quick closing catch phrase and write it down a couple times, it will help you memorize it and tidy up your outro. 👍
"This is Bob Barker reminding you to help control the pet population - have your pets spayed or neutered." 🤪
Thanks Erock, it does hit the steel with a little bit of authority, LOL.
Wow, totally missed the second part, ooops. I am still trying to key in on the just right close...still hunting. Once I get it, it'll flow as easy as sit back, kick yer feet up...
I'll get there.
Oh yeah Halftime maybe one day we will get together and make little rocks out of bigger rocks. Good night and GOD BLESS. 😊
That would be cool!
Halfmile guard that 300 spent brass now lollllllll. Great shooting buddy be safe and GOD BLESS y’all Amen 🙏
Every piece of 300 Win Mag brass is going back i the box...well, except for maybe the weird one that the core fell out of. I need to break that down and see what it up.
I'm catching up on videos. Still fun to watch but much better when everybody's here together.💥💥💥👍
It is definitely more fun during the live chats, but at least you can get the rerun any time you like...just like on demand, lol
I just a old koot but untill now I have been a little skeptical regarding consistent lockup with those straight pull rascal's. But I stand corrected💥💥💥
This straight pull rifle sure does shoot well. Plus, it seems pretty quick once you get accustomed to the action.
I got my lifetime carry permit great video brother they ways GOD BLESS
Hey Randle. Everything going well after surgery I hope. 👍 🙏
Great groupings Halfmile.. hostage secured!!!
Thanks Raptor...I wish the camera showed how little of the 4 inch flipper I could really see, lol, but nope I set the camera in the wrong spot. Still knocked the tar out of him, just like the real like inspiration years ago.
I'm a lil late , lol , I was watching other videos a lil earlier, laying down and fell asleep, woke at 3am with phone batt dead... nice shooting !
Sounds like a solid nap Charles, lol. My nap was in front of the computer from somewhere around 10ish until I woke up to go to bed at 11ish, lol.
👍👍really good shooting Halfmile, that was some really good groups. Our archery season comes in tomorrow, but because of surgery I’m gonna miss it but should be good to go by rifle season. I enjoy watching you shoot and it helps me become a better shooter watching someone who knows how to shoot, thanks a lot.
Thanks for watching Lance, sounds like your recovery is progressing nicely. Hope you are good to hit the woods by rifle season. And thanks for the kind words.
First we all make these kind of mistakes. Just makes for an excuse to go back.
Now after watching this I want to get my barrel threaded.
Thanks again for sharing
Thanks so much for watching. Fortunately I was able to work around the no mag thing, lol...saved the day for sure. On the plus side, I get to squeeze one more video out of this rifle, LOL.
Good one Half 👍, how are you liking that Impulse now that you have a little more time on it ? Worth buying ?
I am warming up to it PG. If you watched close I definitely didn't try to lift the bolt, I managed straight pulls each shot. That coupled with keeping the rifle in my shoulder helped with the nice extraction and ejection.
After this round I would consider on of these Savage Impulse rifles.
Halfmile I’d love to shoot that straight pull I’ve been interested in one still ever since they came in
I am actually starting to get the hang of this straight pull bolt...notice, not once did I try lifting and every case extracted and ejected beautifully.
Nice shooting all the videos I’ve watched on the impulse have been very positive.
It is a very nice shooting rifle, especially now that I installed that muzzle brake. Took the kick of the 300 Win Mag right out of the rifle.
Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it.
Very cool
Thanks Joe, hope all is better with your Dad.
@@Halfmilesniper he died columbus day went out 45 minutes with zero air his lungs werent viable off a ventilator he with his last act on earth shot stink eye at nurse in mask he was a man not made like they used to and im proud to carry on his name
@@joemorganeatmyshortschannel Damn Joe, sorry to hear that...real sorry. Lost mine in 2014 just shy of his 90th, went out on his terms...lung cancer and told the docs don't do anything. He had home hospice the last few days and held out long enough for me and the family to get there. I still want to pick up the phone and call him sometimes. You have my deepest condolences.
@@Halfmilesniper thank you and he watched all the same stuff as i did on here he liked your revolver videos alot
