Note, the techmount has been updated with a simpler, two piece design, so if you purchase the new design, the video won't be applicable. I bought the new design and tapped a 1/4" x -20 hole in the base and purchased 1/4" x -20 ram mount. 1/4" hole and -20 course thread for those wondering.
If you are skilled with a drill you can make a divot in the ram ball stem above the thread. Then screw the retention pin into the divot and now you don’t need locktite. (Assuming you have a deep well socket which will fit overtop of the nut and ball both.

Did that little retention pin/nub need to be lowered in the nut? Mine did and it took a standard Allen/hex wrench, what size I don’t know but small for sure.
If you’ve invested in a bunch of attachments that accept the ram ball size rather than the tech mount size. The tech mount is a smaller ball, so my ram based radar detector holder, phone holder, and mug holder wouldn’t fit.

The microscopic one visible from the underneath? Was it locktite - installed? Less than 1mm, so where did you find the correct tool?
