Jane is spot on - a child under 10 shouldn’t be walking past shops or food stuffs and be able to choose crap - a 4 year old only eats what you give them it’s as simple as that! Dears I am afraid you have all missed the point ! Our culture has almost been diminished and we have become beasts of commerce .Modern lifestyles and poisonous foods are consumed daily . WHO or an organisation as such; carried out a investigation on poisons in food and sweet as children kept dying YES DYING due to the proportion of the measurements in the ingredients . 12 men took part for 2 weeks and only 2 died or 1 died and so we have new proportions . I say get rid of it all and I am sure you will agree . After all you are what you eat 😘
Jane is 1000% correct! Who else’s fault would it be? Kaye can’t blame it on people being busy. We’ve never had it easier! People that grew up in poor areas, such as this east end of London during the war, they were busy. They were working hard they had limited time, they were extremely poor and yet children were slim and food was cooked from scratch. If you have ever seen a very overweight family in the supermarket and glanced in their trolley, I have, you are likely to see lots of junk food and multipack bags of crisps. It is 100% the parents fault. Who else’s would it be? It’s laziness. It’s easy to shove some crisps and a ready meal in front of your kids. It’s harder to cook from scratch, but that’s what you need to do for the sake of your children’s health! Take responsibility. It’s like those cases you see where children are having to have their baby teeth removed because they’re all rotting! Is that the parents fault? Of course it is because they’re giving them so many sugary foods are not brushing their teeth! We shouldn’t have a gentle approach in case it’s like that, so it’s not offend the parents. What matters is the kids! You do need to offend the parents, make them realise what they’re doing!
Even if siblings grow up in the same household, they don't eat exactly the same cos they won't all like the same food & some kids eat more than others but then if they do that then it's more likely to have a knock-on effect later on. And as for the whole "I've got a mental health issue" & or "I've got an underactive thyroid" what about ppl who tick both of those boxes & aren't obese? Jane is right, there are parents that just ignore the advice that's around us regarding healthy eating cos they think they can do what they want & that we have freedom of choice which - let's face it - is getting exploited these days. I grew up with both my parents working but they put their foot down regarding how much we put into our bodies. It is tricky in terms of what kids eat when they're at school or just not around Mummy & Daddy but it can be dealt with if the parents can be bothered to do something about it. Plus, they have to lead by example as the child's role model to begin with too
@@imalwaysright but you can't use mental health issues all the time cos then you end up with physical health issues on top of them too. And when ppl say it's a vicious circle, it's only that way if you choose to eat/drink your feelings & emotions during a bad time. Some ppl are just stubborn & refuse to try other methods by simply claiming that they don't work so that they can just stuff their face. And when they have children as well, it doesn't set a good example. Yes life's tough but there are ways & means around these things that don't burden the NHS more
True that siblings don’t eat the same way but it’s the responsibility of the parents to make sure their kids eat healthy food cooked in fun different ways! Just because there’s a fussy eater doesn’t mean as a parent you let them eat junk food.
No-one is saying it’s easy. But you’re the parent - behave like one and stop making excuses. Who’s in charge? You or the 4 year old? You decide what they eat, end of story. It’s different when they’re older and not under your supervision - but at 4 years old, yes if they’re obese it’s your fault. Totally agree with Jane. The other woman was rude and condescending because she was losing the argument.
Omg Kay let Jane finish her sentence-shes so rude !!. I work in early years and the amount of parents who just pack unhealthy snacks no fruit or vegetables and there 4 years old -yes there are cases where it's a bit different but on the whole I think parents are to blame
I think it's too easy to blame all parents especially when a parent is having to work two jobs just to pay the bills. Is home economics still taught in school? I agree finger wagging only makes the issues at home worse. Guilt tripping people in general does not work in changing behaviours.
Ok so let them carry on. And its not guilt tripping, its educating, but you cannot tell these 17yr old single parents anything, but hey they will have been put at front of queue for council house, benefit for child, maybe money off father by courts or voluntary, two sets of grandparents competing to see who can spoil the child the most. Heard it all before. You think we lived in Africa or down town Iraq the way you all make excuses.
Last time I checked, 'Lady', stores weren't just giving away food, rubbish or not. No money, no junk foods, really simple. And food banks should concentrate on essentials, not crap that makes people unhealthy(-ier).
@@Paul-sm8ms yeah thats right its all these 17 yr old single parents(mothers presumbaly) ..what a load of rubbish, what about all the overweight middle ages men who drink too much, eat too much and smoke and sit down the pub because their wives have left them or children don't speak to them...what about them as it is diabetes and heart disease in this population which probably is one of the biggest expenses to the health service
@@loveisall5520 food banks have no choice in what they give people or limited choices, they gve people tinned foods and store cupboard food and try to make it as healthy as possible and are not able to provide fresh food.Maybe you should work down a foodbank to see what they do and the people that come and what their issues are and then you might have more empathy. Also they do concentrate on essentials..what do you think they are giving people, crisps and muffins and biscuits and chocolate
Its the Crap that's put in our food and the fact its no longer safe for kids to wander around outside, schools to a degree as well, my boy often said they didn't do pe because the hall was being used for rehearsals for plays etc
Not really. Don't feed your kids crap, teach them to view food as fuel and not something you eat for comfort or pleasure. If someone has a medical issue it's different. But for most people (including myself), if you are fat you are taking in more than you are burning off. You are not only causing your children to have a harder life by being fat, you are also teaching them that they don't need to take personal responsibility for anything and it's the world that needs to change and not them.
@@somethingsomethingdeathsta748 No not really,I think most people know that being fat is not desirable or that it will make life harder for kids if they are unfit or overweight. The fact is weight and health is not as simple and it is related to income inequality and other issues such as where you live and how much moeny you earn and also issues like mental health so to blame it all on peoples personal responsibility and not take account of food companies and other retailers who make alot of money out of selling unhealthy food is also unfair. Yes ultimately it is our responsibility if we want to be healthy as we can be and make better food choices especially for our children who have no choice other than what we feed them income, time and having easy access to good quality affordable healthy food is also an issue. Also food is simply not just fuel but it to do with pleasure and comfort and all those things too and to ignore that is a mistake. The thing is to teach how to prepare healthy food espcially on a budget and quickly and also how to have comfort and treats without it being harmful or ignoring our mental health or other issues which make people comfort eat.Why do people comfort eat in the first place ?
Kaye is wrong --- Jane is correct. You have to plan. Stop snacking .... kids should finish eating by 17.00pm, like your parents did in the 1970s. When we said later we are hungry, your mother would have said "you should have eaten more at tea". Stop feeding your children carbs, starchy carbs, juices - do not cook in vegetable oils eg sunflower, corn oil ... all toxic for the body. Potatoes is sugar, bread is sugar, pastries is sugar, rice is sugar, pasta is sugar. Do not feed your children cereals ... they are truly the worst. Feed you kids eggs and streaky bacon for breakfast. Serve them good meat broth and meaty stews, high fat mince for supper. Do not push vegetables on children either. I am now a 55 year old Carnivore - for three years nearly 4 now I have been eating only fatty meats, butter, fatty fish, I cook in lard, tallow ... love beef, lamb, organ meats, lots of eggs, Never felt better in my entire life, I have energy, menopause symptoms disappeared, hair grown back thick, no joint pain, brain is working again, depression gone and mood swings gone. I now have that Carnivore zen. There are so many women going Carnivore ... basically we eat ancestrally ....
People are so judgmental!! They love to point the finger. When I was an “admirable “ weight I was tired miserable and depressed. Dieting left me in the end fatter than ever. Food is a complicated issue. Stop judging and support and help people. 🤬🤬🤬
Absolutely, everyone loves to get on their high horse about this,as you say it can be more complicated and food and diet is more complicated and as Kaye said food environments are full of poor unhealthy fattening foods. Some people maybe plain lazy and not bothered for sure but most are probably trying to do their best with what they have. Its complicated as you say

Eg. We all know that you cannot flip an omelette in an average frying pan. 3) the shows are edited to make the cooking look easier than it really is

Tell them no bugger off.
You as a person need a home life balance and work to live, Not live to WORK..
Plus, they have to lead by example as the child's role model to begin with too
not saying you may not have some valid points, but mental illnesses are different for everyone and affected by many variables.
👏👏👏 exactly.
I cannot abide Jane but in this instance she is right.
Omg Kay let Jane finish her sentence-shes so rude !!.
I work in early years and the amount of parents who just pack unhealthy snacks no fruit or vegetables and there 4 years old -yes there are cases where it's a bit different but on the whole I think parents are to blame
I agree with Jayne
And how!
@Dollie Waitrose, surely Dollie!
I think it's too easy to blame all parents especially when a parent is having to work two jobs just to pay the bills. Is home economics still taught in school? I agree finger wagging only makes the issues at home worse. Guilt tripping people in general does not work in changing behaviours.
and if a single parent household
Jane is so sanctimonious, such a know all , knows F all about this subject , it’s complex 😡
Why does she not !!
I don’t think it’s all their fault. There are so many parents who work all day and are surrounded by nothing but cheap takeaways.
Agree with Jane
What's wats her name doing back and hosting ...wanted to leave for good !!
It’s from a few years ago
Jane is right.
Although, there is lots of pressure on Parents from all sides.
Can someone ask me why do we need to help them?
They got themselves into this mess and they can get themselves out of this mess
have you raised children?
@@imalwaysright Yes I have and I’ve taught them to get out of things that they created themselves
I’m not holding their hand I’m not bailing them out they got themselves into this mess get yourself out of it
It’s called preparing them for the real world
@@imalwaysright you got yourself into this mess now get yourself out
@@jetnight88 You sound like a really great loving parent. Its not about bailing people out but offering the help and support,as k any doctor or healthcare worker and they will say your approach does not work for people who actually want help with their weight or health.Your approach simply does not work.Wonder if your kids speak to you these days ...well
Far to many take away shops need to close them down
Jane is correct
Jane is absolutely right, where is the self-responsibility then? Of course not for sb who is under age but for ppl after teenage years.
Jane's right .
i love kaye adams so much
The tension woah. They both have valid points, but Jane speaks like a privileged woman with a nanny in a world where everything is linear and perfect
100% jane's so rude
Yes she is privileged so be easy upset
4 yr old. 🙉 Jane 100% correct.
This has been a problem since the 50s in one way or another
Dont forget if one parent is obese the child has a 50% chance of being the same. If both parents
are obese the child has no chance
@Dollie think you might find it's fact
Parents should take responsibility until they are 18 then the person has their own decision then
Kaye you are wrong !
These cookery shows are bullshit for a few reasons.
1) you need expensive ingredients that poorer families cannot afford on a budget
2) you need expensive cooking utensils to get the same results that they get.
Eg. We all know that you cannot flip an omelette in an average frying pan.
3) the shows are edited to make the cooking look easier than it really is
I love it!!!!
As the custodian of your child you are responsible for what they eat and what they drink what you bring in that house is determined By you what they’re going to eat if it’s not in the house they can’t eat it now after they become teenagers of course they probably going to eat things that you don’t know about but you still governing what they eat in your house.
Children under 11 you should teach them to eat in moderation, be active and signed them up to clubs. I equip my child with the knowledge they need so when they are alone without me they can make the right decision. Parents are 100% responsible for the obese child
Women in red not the brightest
Kay has became so opinionated she rudely speaks over people
I’ve got two grandchildren, both boys, a year apart, both eat the same foods, ones 9, the other 10. One is skinny as a bean and the other one is larger in bone structure and slightly fat, so don’t tell me it’s the parents fault!
Okay, 'ruth', I won't. Revel in your ignorant denial!
Well in some instances it is
Get real... junk food is cheaper than fresh, people can't afford to pay £3.00 for a tiny punnet of blueberries
I agree with Kay
It’s the parent’s fault. No doubt. Super poor parenting and should be classed as neglect.
It’s so much more nuanced than Jane is stating.
Haven't those 2 spoke enough..come on brenda
The parents are thick.
No wonder they are called loose women 😂😂😂😂
Yeah,we should ahve a programme called sensible men who always know whats right and will tell us !! ..lol
It’s convenient food
Worse than them on view
I Love jane
plah plah plah
It's the parents fault ...no doubt about.
I agree with Jane.
