    My favorite part of this scene is Brienne's worried expression after she kicks Arya. She was getting frustrated and did what just came naturally to her in a fight, but then she realized that she just kicked a "lady", technically one of her superiors, and worried that she'd gone too far.

    That was my most re-watched scene of the entire series. Arya gets the drop on Brianne three quick times. A lot of people miss that at the end Arya has the dagger in her right hand, but when Brianne grabs her right wrist, she flips it to her left hand. That’s not an easy move, and the actress practiced until she could actually do that.

    Since I don’t know if Maisie (spelling?) is left handed or not, but I’m going to mention least one small detail I do like.
    It makes me a little happier seeing least ‘someone’ out of all the movies/shows that have swords involved, that someone wields theirs left handed.
    When two right handed people would duel, assuming shields were used too, it’d usually be easy to turn a bit, raise the shield, and block the strike. Since your equipment would be opposite each other.
    With being left handed, like myself, it’s a bit different. My left ‘sword’ hand mirrors a right hander standing in front of me. So that’s what makes such a duel much more interesting…

      I know, all because she trained with the many face god for awhile and fought without sight for a short while.
      All of a sudden she is able to go toe to toe in combat with anyone that has had decades worth of training and experience in sword play.
      Even her beating the waif in a one on one fight cuz it's in the dark and without sight isn't even believable since the Waif has gone through that exact training and has more experience than Arya.
      Arya being unstoppable at fighting is one of the dumbest pieces of writing I've ever seen. And that's saying a lot with the dumb writing we got from season 7 and 8 as a whole.

    • @LouisAWheatJr
      @LouisAWheatJr Рік тому +2

      She trained in Braavos for a full two years (seasons 5 & 6 each season is a year). She trained on her own as best she could for 4 years (seasons 1-4) that's 6 years of training. s She was also most likely a prodigy at fighting like Jaime Lannister, Loras Tyrell, or Oberin Martell (The Red Viper) when you have a prodigous gift at something...ANYTHING you master it quicker and more thoroughly than everyone else that isn't a prodigy and to be honest she probably trained like Kobe Bryant for like 8, 10, 12 hours per day. Arya Stark is one of a very small handful of fighters with the innate talent to achieve unmatched skill with focused determined vengeful hate fueled training...it happens.

    • @ThumbsUpMike
      @ThumbsUpMike Рік тому +6

      @@LouisAWheatJr So because Arya is prodigy of fighting she is able to hold her own in combat against anyone, even Brienne?
      Let's break this down
      Arya has no sword or combat training at all through the first 5 seasons.
      Thoros made a joke of her in season 3 when she lied that she knows how to use a sword.
      Season 5 she trains on how to be an assassin by poisoning people that Jaqen tells her to(even though she doesn't and get's punished for it.)
      Her only ever combat training is in season 6 with her fighting blind and that's it.
      Now she is magically able to compete with Brienne in sword play who has been fighting all her life in both 1v1's and battles?
      Sorry but no, the writing on the show for Arya becoming this amazing fighter is fucking stupid.

      So, as a martial artist I would like to point out that you can stop a haymaker by blocking in a specific place at just the right time, and the same is true for any melee weapon. If that weren't the case, we would have kept big heavy weapons rather than slowly moving from big longswords down to rapiers and cutlass. The trick is to aim for the balance Point between the weapon and the wielder, which is further from the hands the longer the blade. If you strike near that point with enough force, blocking a longsword can be done with even a dagger.

    "Who taught you how to do that?"
    "No one"
    NOW I get it, it's a play on words: "a girl is no one".
    And it only took me a little over 5 years to figure out.

    It really is embarrassing that not a single reactor commented that Arya trained to be an assassin, not a warrior and that was for just 1 year or two. Not one single scene in the 8 season series showed Arya training to fight like this. She trained with Syrio for like a week before the failed coup and that was on Waterdancing. Fully adult and non-lobotomized humans actually believe that this 65 lb child is able to defeat a 6 plus foot Amazon who was made a member of the Kingsguard after defeating Ser Loras and other knights, plus this behemoth trained for a decade in the rough as hell Stormlands, with a longsword, and threw the Hound off a fucking mountain. Absolutely unbelievable.

      she was shown training swordplay alone while traveling with the hound. Brienne was also clearly going easy on arya the first two fights.

    OKAY the Normies need to either stop talking so loud they blow their mics, or get a better sound guy because their reactions are PAINFUL to watch. I don't mean the reactions themselves I mean literally seven people shrieking at the top of their lungs into microphones that cannot handle the amount of volume that they are putting into them is PHYSICALLY painful. I love them individually and I love their reactions but they really need to learn how to mix their sound or how to not overload their mics.

    So much...OMG! MUH REEALIZIM!! in these comments . Real sword fights are fast and not very fun to watch. 2-3 passes and it's done with lots of blood and pain, someone ie either incapacitated with a likely lifetime injury or dead. I feel bad for those that forget how to have fun and enjoy entertainment and seem to want to deny that fun to everyone else as well.

    • @NaviNeku24
      @NaviNeku24 11 місяців тому

      Full-weight blows mean nothing if you can’t land on a hit on someone who moves as fast as Arya. Miss enough times, and you just end up weak and tired - perfect moment for the other to strike.
      Besides, you get to know your weapon enough, you can control it very well, especially a light weapon like Arya’s. Put just enough strength into that small sword, and you have a swift and deadly weapon, perfect for an assassin like her.

    this scene made me LOL. arya is much like Rey from star wars. didnt do shit, then became a legendary warrior. brienne of tarth would sneeze in aryas general direction and kill her. idc how much she must have learned off screen, shes a tiny little 12 year old girl.
