  • I bought a 2006 California Vintage back in 2018. To get her in a "as good as new or even better" state it took a lot of effort. This video shows almost everything I did for this.

Hi Janguzzi. Congratulations on a great restoration. I purchased my 2006 Vintage new in September 2008. My first Guzzi. Lost the diff oil on the way home from the dealership thanks to a missing O ring and the steering dampener lasted a couple of weeks before loosing its oil. There were various other little nigglers over the years which tested my patience. I've just clocked 40000km so checked the valve clearances and greased the bevel gears. My Tacho has given up, apparently a common fault, and so far the only NOS one l can find is in the UK and will set me back AU$500. I also have damage to the left silencer from the centre stand but have ignored it. I purchased a 'piggy back' set up for my ECU from Tom at Guzzi Tech together with a K&N air filter, holes drilled in the top of the air box, derestricted mufflers and a dyno session. Much better ride. I hope you have many years of great touring on the Vintage :)

She is up for sale ;-) ... otherwise, yes she is now fit for the future.

@@janguzzi If it was in the USA I could not resist. You made a beautiful bike into a piece of art. Incredible attention to detail. Well done.

    Gratulation!

Great work! I just wonder how someone (the previous owner?) would keep his/her Guzzi so badly and let it get to this condition?

I guess he was just driving ... and the built quality of the California Vintage is not top notch (e.g. the chrome).

I've been looking at a 2001 Jackal that's sat so long it no longer starts and runs. I think the fuel system is completely knackered. I'm in Alabama USA so just getting parts is an adventure in frustration. Before purchase I looked for the possiblity of obtaining the basic parts like a fuel pump, filter, and gasket to reinstall it all in the gas tank. Where available all are extremely expensive and take months to arrive. I considered switching to carburetor's but I'm afraid the computer is not going to allow that due to it's electronic ignition tied into the same computer running the fuel injection system. I suspect the cost, time, and effort has exceeded the value of the bike, sadly.

I just took a long ride on my 2016 Eldorado. Recent purchase. The bike ran well until I got home. It would not start in gear only in neutral. Then when I put it in gear it dies. I hear a fan or pump sound as it is cooling. Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks

Sounds like the bike thinks the kickstand is down.
