When the elves are singing "Hilya! Hilya! Auta! Hilya!", I can't help but hear "Hiljaa! Hiljaa! Auta minua!" instead, which literally translates to: "Quiet! Quiet! Help me!". 😅
I listen to this song in the car with my cousin, we go through the country and play this song at a specific place, great great memories and this song really has a spot in my heart
1:52 will always give me goosebumps. This goes for the whole song, but especially this specific part just SOUNDS like travel. It makes you feel like Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin, like you're setting out on a big adventure on a beautiful day. I think if Tolkien didn't LIKE the musical, he would've appreciated it
The Musical was a financial failure and got shut down fast. I only recently even became aware of it, and sadly, there's no video version. It's lost to time besides this sound track. "The show was first performed in Toronto in 2006, before transferring to the West End in June 2007 with a record £25 million budget. By the time The Lord of the Rings closed one year later in July 2008, it had become one of the biggest commercial flops in West End history."
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: A MUSICAL TALE IS COMING TO CHICAGO!!! omg the UK Watermill theater just announced it - if you can see it GO it was.... absolutely magical. I can only hope it will tour back in the UK again eventually
Welcome to the fandom. These stories are treasures and though many appreciate the works few enjoy it enough to find this song. Since your here, though, I can assume you are not a simple casual fan. I hope you enjoy the adventures of Arada
It only had 1 run in London a few years back because it cost so much to make. It also had a small thing in Canada at the same time. Some videos are around youtube, but they only ended up filming a few, as no dvd was ever released. There is however a 2 disc cd still floating around on amazon which I bought which has all the musical numbers.
It cost about £13m to produce and then got some bad reviews when it opened which affected ticket sales. At the time it was the most expensive stage production ever and they struggled to make back the cost of the show. Supposedly one of the actors got their leg caught in the stage mechanism during one show and got severely injured but I can't decide if that's a rumour. It ended up being canceled less than a year after it opened. in 2015 they updated the official website to say "COMING SOON", but it has since been all but removed, and the website is basically blank now.
I saw one of the original Toronto showings that were over four hours long. It was an incredible show and you could tell that it was expensive considering the number of actors needed on stage at one time, the many costumes, and the very elaborate sets. (A mountain rose out of the stage.) It was just too expensive to make and they couldn't put on enough shows in a week to be profitable. After it closed the producers tried to save face by saying that Toronto wasn't a sophisticated enough city to sustain it. It sounded pretty stupid to say that as this was in 2006 and LOTR was still at its height of popularity three years after Peter Jackson's third adaptation. The show moved to London and they significantly shortened the production to just over two hours. It lasted even fewer months in London. (I guess London isn't sophisticated either.)
Hmm... well, all I can really say is that I'm relieved its existence hasn't disappeared completely. It's a shame, but at least some aspects still remain (songs, a few scene clips, etc.) For that, I'm glad. :)
@FireDancer102 I can totally get what you mean :) I think it's a proper feel good song too though! I love listening to it when I wanna smile :) You are very welcome btw, any fan of LOTR is a friend of mine, hehe :)
Any violinists know what the technique used right at the start of this song is called (If it has a name)? That sawing sort of sound, it kinda goes through the whole song sort of like a pedal point.
"The Green Dragon" Oh, you can search far and wide, You can drink the whole town dry, But you'll never find a beer so brown, No you'll never find a beer so brown, As the one we drink in our home town As the one we drink in our home town! You can drink your fancy ales, You can drink 'em by the flagon, But the only brew for the brave and true, Comes from the Green Dragon!
Iona Fraser-Collins I didn't even know you left this comment! I'm just going through the comments on my uploads and saw this. It was the Lord of the rings musical on the west end. It was the most expensive musical to ever be created at the time, but unfortunately it didn't complete its world tour and wasn't fully recorded. It was teased to return in 2015 which I got stupidly excited about, but then nothing came of it :( I'll find a link to the original musical trailer, though it may be very low res. I'll comment the link once I've found it :)
This song is great! I love that the Rangers are just listing landmarks and Merry and Pippin insert these random non-sequitur lines about food.

Hahaaa I only recently realised some of the composers were Finnish and I’m look at it thru a different lens too haha

Dude same! My cousin and I have a country drive route and this song is always a staple
Us too 😊
3:45-4:15 gives me goosebumps every time! I'm so glad I saw the ad for the Chicago production. My new favorite musical 😊
If the songs of this was interwoven with the soundtrack in the films, the movies would just be more rapturously God-tier.
"rapturously God-tier" 👌👏

Love this song so much!
I can't understand why this song isn't popular enough
구구기획99Entertainment tell me about it!! It gives me goosebumps and makes me happy every time I hear it ❤️

This played on my random playlist while on a 5 hour drive last weekend. Amazingly fitting.
This song makes me tear up when I sing along idk why it's beautiful the whole story is thank you from the bottom of my fan heart lol

I am considering driving 10 hours to go see it... That is so rediculous, but I still may do it
I saw it in Chicago on its opening night! It was amazing! Well worth the flight out there
god i love these songs, kills sadness and heals my heart and puts a tear in my eyes because they're so pure
I'm so glad you posted this! I have found the world of lotr recently, and these songs are amazing, mach the enviroment so well. Thank you so much :)

und wie ich dieses Lied liebe! Oh Gosh, i love that Song!
I'm so mad bc my frustration at never being able to see this overshadows my enjoyment of the songs >:(

I also have the CD. The show was excellent 🙂
The Toronto run was first, lasted longer, and had a run time that was twice as long. It was all around a better show for your money in Canada.
This would be a great/fun graduation song haha Thank you for posting the songs! :D
Wow AR Rahman sir work in 👌😍
Now you know why it is more magical
oh gosh thank you so much for uploading these songs!!
Wonderful. Beautiful. Magnificent. Gorgeous.
A banger of a road trip song
The road goes on, ever ever on..
The only thing wrong with this song is that it breaks my heart to turn back to the real world once it is over.
I'm still so sad that I never got to see this musical... I'll never understand why it was considered such a flop either. 😔

Me too. Had the opportunity to see it with friends...who then decided they all wanted to play Halo 2 all day instead.

I wish I could find like a full recording of it, but it remains incredibly evasive

I LOVE this song :) all of the tracks are from the Lord of the rings musical, it was on the west end about 7 years ago :)
+HisForeverr omg i love it all! LOTR has been my favorite movie and everything for 20 years!

GOOD GOD I miss long car rides to the middle of nowhere for tour and pretending I was on a Grand Adventure
Lets go forth !

This is awesome 😁
I absolutely adore this song and we sing it to our son 😁
Eloise I can see why - I’ll be singing it on my walks from now on!
Any violinists know what the technique used right at the start of this song is called (If it has a name)? That sawing sort of sound, it kinda goes through the whole song sort of like a pedal point.
It sounds a bit like the Martelé bowstroke to me, but I'm a beginner myself so I may be completely wrong. 🤔
@headshavingguy one of my favourites :)
This song makes me laugh.
This sounds like what Merry and Pippen once sang in the Green Dragon (however they may have been drunk)
I dunno. It sounds too good to be sang by two drunk Hobbits. But, you are Gandalf, so I guess I shouldn't argue. :)
"The Green Dragon"
Oh, you can search far and wide,
You can drink the whole town dry,
But you'll never find a beer so brown,
No you'll never find a beer so brown,
As the one we drink in our home town
As the one we drink in our home town!
You can drink your fancy ales,
You can drink 'em by the flagon,
But the only brew for the brave and true,
Comes from the Green Dragon!
That's "The Cat And The Moon" from the same show
me and my mates sing this when we hang out to play DnD, haha!
Mrcxbpi.
I actually love this musical myself cause I have seen
@NanairoCrayon You are most welcome!! :)
Ah. Cheers anyway. Shame I missed, the music sounds good
The villains of Disney, Studio Ghibli, and others including my female Sauron and Saruman will see it coming. ;)
Please, help. chords in this song????
I'm afraid they were never officially released. :( It would be a case of doing some Google research to look for them!
😊😊😊😊😊😊
reminds me of Dixieland a little bit 🇺🇸+🇬🇧
I didn't know there was a musical! WHo does it? where can I find it to watch it?

@@Accio_Eloise it was the most Wonderful and Magical musical Ever and the Greatest thing I have Ever had the Privilege to see. Period ❤️
Sauron and Saruman disliked this :)
I guess Morgoth hasn't gotten on UA-cam in a while...
E.E. Dunn Being ejected from the world itself does tend to have that effect on a guy. ;)
Whoop 3 dislikes... looks like one of the Nazgul joined up.
4 likes...must be denethor smh
Gotta love that in 2 years only 2 more people have disliked it though.
What a beautifully optimistic tune :)
