As someone who is a plane guy, that 5-6 plane is more likely a ground attack plane like a Stuka, A-26, Mosquito, IL-2, etc. 3-4 is around a P-47, Fw190, Typhoon, etc. 1-2 is like a P-51, Bf-109, Spitfire, etc.
I always imagined the three levels of planes being the strafing fighter having just mgs and cannons like spitfire or bf 109, fighter bomber having rockets and 100lb bombs like typhoon or late zeros, and the close support being anything that drops 1000lb bomb like an sbd dauntless or stuka
Just played a tournament with a US list with 2 Forward Air Controllers. I had a P-51, P-47, and a B-25 to depict the various aircraft types. Game 1 - Shot down once, once got called off due to target got previously destroyed and twice had arstrikes with a Fighter Game 2 - 1 Rookie pilot aimed at my med howitzer and three other of my units got pinned. Med howitzer survived. I killed his flak auto cannon halftrack. Also killed his Pz 3 lt tank. Game 3 Got shot down twice as he had a truck with double MMG with flak capability. Killed some infantry but put a number of pins on 5-6 units. Big problem using airstrikes is the amount of time taken. My second game only got through 3 turns as my opponent didnt know how to use or more importantly defend against them. His 2nd flak unit was sent on outflanking and never got on the board.
This is how I feel about BAs Buildings vs Ruins rules. Want to talk about tons of sticky rules? build a beautiful Stalingrad table with half blown up, multi story terrain and figure out if it’s a building or ruin. Maybe a fun video for ya ;)
Terrain rules are always a big sticking point. I usually end up having some firm house rules once the board gets too complex. Terrain rules have been killing Warhammer 40k the last few editions also.
warlord at these unofficial aircraft rules in V1, which treated planes more like tanks. i really wish they went that way in V2 rather than what we got.
I have a P-38/ US, Bf-110 E4/German, IL-2M3/ USSR and a A6M3 Hamp Zero/ Japanese for all 4 of my armies and really I only have used the P-38 due to the double airstrikes the US gets. And have 2 shot downs and 2 actual hits with 2 that I forgot about and so never called in
I think the only fun way to play this unit is by giving it for free to each player. That way you force them to get some flak, and have some aircraft action.
Nice video! Maybe could you take a look at the weird war side of bolt action Konflikt 47!? They got some pretty cool units and warlord said thier doing a big announcement for the game next spring :)
I think I took it as part of my KNIL army Dutch colonial army because I had very few options to remove late war tanks form the field. I'm fairly sure it failed completely and I rolled a Rookie pilot first time using it 😂
yikes you would almost be better off adding planes as a unit that would fly around the battlefield and just get distract units. I am really sad about this I would love good plane system. this might be what I work on when I get more into the game
MY FIRST GAME OF BOLT ACTION I WANT THE AIR OBSERVER BUT FELL OUT WITH IT THE SAME GAME I WAS SHOOT DONW BY A PENTAL DID NOT DAMANGE THEN YOU ALSO CAN BOMBYOURSELF NEVER AGAIN PLUS NO MODEL WHICH KINDA SUCK. HOPE THE FIX IT AND GIVE A MODEL.
They at least errata'ed the typos. "Page 86, Warplane Type Chart, Strafing Fighter. e first and second sentences should be replaced by the following: The target unit takes one additional pin marker and suffers 2D6 hits with a +2 Pen value. Page 86, Warplane Type Chart, Fighter-bomber.e D6 Roll column text is wrong and should be 3 or 4 (rather than 2 or 4)."
babe wake up, overwhelming joy just dropped 👀

We usually do the same thing, trying to come up with reasonable concessions so the terrain acts like what it looks like.
I have not played with or against a FAO yet, thanks for the review!

Good video, although what is up with the audio, I can only hear on the left side.?
Looks like I accidentally recorded in Mono. Apologies lol
Happened to me as well.

My left year enjoyed this? What happened?
Wonder if 3rd will fix this
We can only hope

Yeah, minor nations are kinda bad with their national traits and possible units. Really hope they buff that in v3
Just wanted to say your Star Wars Legion stuff was awesome.
I've had a few rookie pilots 😢

Us has the best Foward Air Observer. You get 2 shots haha.

Apparently, UA-cam doesn't like text copied directly from the pdf.
