- This was the scariest 24 hours of our lives when Jared was hospitalized after an emergency endoscopy goes wrong!! We were (and still are) terrified knowing he experienced a rupture esophagus during his endoscopy procedure, which made our ER visit much longer and more terrifying than we could've ever imagined! My daughter had endoscopy about 5 years ago. She was told she might have to have it done again. We are now at again. She started mild choking a few months ago. It has developed into super bad choking, and it's now scareing both of us. She has an app on the 22nd of this month. I want to thank you for journeying Jared's journey thru this. Altho I am now actually terrified seeing what can happen. But at least I have the knowledge to know what can happen and be prepared to deal with it should thongs go south. I'm sending you both love and prayers for healing. Thank you. I am going to subscribe to your channel. Finding this video tonight was truly, I think sent to me to see this.

Too bad they ended up dilating his esophagus under emergency conditions, and that he had the esophageal tear, but thankful it wasn’t worse and his hemoglobin has remained stable. Prayers for continued healing ❤

So glad he is doing better !!! My daddy had throat cancer and they removed his esophagus and stretched his stomach up to make him a new esophagus! It’s amazing what God can do!!!!!

Praying for a speedy recovery! I know how you feel! A year ago we experienced a life threatening journey with my 32 year old daughter! We spent 10 weeks in the hospital! I know all too well that prayers work!!!! So glad you came through with flying colors!!!!

It reminds me of dumping syndrome, if I do not chew and chew my food and only a few bites of any food, after a 2007 gastric bypass, not a nice feeling.

I’m so glad to hear Jared is doing better. My heart goes out to him. I cannot imagine the pain from the tear. I had a staple lodged in my esophagus from a slight tear from the bravo placement that didn’t come out when it was supposed to and every sip I took felt like it was just tearing away with every drink I took. They had to go in and take it out and it took months for the feeling something was in there to go away. I hope and pray you are on the road to recovery and you have no lasting effects and that this procedure has made it so that you never have to go through this again.

This sounds like the ailment my father had. He had a hiatal hernia. It was terrifying! Prayers for Jared.
Hiatal hernia is when the stomach bulges up through the diaphragm into the chest area. Esophagitis is just an inflammatory condition of the esophagus itself that can also cause swallowing difficulties, heartburn, coughing, and chest pains
@@Og-Judywith haital hernia food gets stuck often and most of the time it is solution is ER and endoscopic suction of whatever is stuck there and it takes ours for them to decide to do that...they will keep you there just to make money off you...and the pain is a torture itself.

As a GI nurse I can can’t tell how many times I have gone in during the middle of the night to remove food impaction, so so many times it is chicken. It is so important to go in early and not wait for hours. With his other allergy symptoms ask about EOE eosinophilic esophagitis
It sounds like that’s exactly what he has. I was diagnosed last year. I know Jared has talked about having GERD which also comes with EOE.
Also poss Achalasia….i went through misery for years before being dx’d and having POEM procedure. Please question your GI doc about this possibility.

I also have EoE it is horrible when food gets stuck
@gretchengardner3538 It sure is painful... and terrifying. I always feel like I'm about to choke to death when it happens. I've been fortunate to have it resolve on its own after a few miserable minutes. I can't begin to imagine having it go on for hours.
You're very lucky. I had an uncle that had his esophagus stretched a few times a year due to scar tissue. The last time, his esophagus tore and it wasn't noticed. Next time he ate the food went into his chest and he went septic. He passed within a week or so. There was nothing the dr's could do due to his age and the bad infection he had.

Read this now!!! I just started praying for you Jared, please don't worry. My husband had the exact same issue with chicken, chicken is the culprit, unless there is gravy to go with the chicken my husband can't eat it. Just last month after choking again my husband saw the GI Dr. and he said we will have to fix this. While asleep they enlarged his esophagus with water. First night back he choked,(he ate chicken) wrong he should of had soup. But day after day now he's doing great!! Will pray for you both' , it will get better I know this first hand. Hang in there!! You two have become so dear to me, mom of two grown sons and 2 darling grandchildren, infertility survivor of many yrs. I am hoping you, sweet Jared, will continue to heal with no further complications and be given guidance on how to manage this esophagus issue that has plagued you for too long, on and off, with no clue why or when it will occur. Peace be with you two and I sure hope you both slept well last night! Finn’s greeting of Jared was so very precious!
This happens to my husband every night when he eats but he usually just throws up and he’s good , but it has never gotten as bad as Jared’s is . I’m so sorry, I hope and pray that he will get better ❤️🩹 after watching this I think he needs to see a doctor thank you for sharing this. Praying for Jared !!

My husband has EOE Eosinophilic Esophagitis. As well as GERD. Has lived with this for years. He takes medications and has to have his esophagus stretched about once a year. He's actually getting ready to have it done again. He chokes at every meal. That's how he knows his esophagus is narrowing again. This is a very difficult disease to live with. My heart goes out to you Jared.

Look into mold and fungus. Candida is an issue with your description of his diagnosis. Doctors don't like to admit it.
My brother and I both have it. It's miserable. I suffer gastroparisis and it's very painful.

I had the EE several years ago. My throat looked like corrugated drain pipe. We tried a few meds but found taking Nexium every day has kept it away. I was able to avoid stretching. Also found eating concentrated soy like tofu caused it to flare up. You probably tried that but thought I would put it out there. Well wishes.
I thankfully do not have EOE confirmed by biopsy during an EGD but struggled with choking on food all the time, had an EGD with dilation in December that was successful! The biopsy did show some minor esophageal damage that Is now treated with 40mg of omeprazole! I hope the esophageal dilation lasts a good while for me!

I can't eat bread without it getting stuck and it feels so awful to be in that state...praying for Jared.
Steakhouse syndrome. My son gets this and it's scary for him and me. So far drinking coke and/or Alka seltzer has helped every time. I'm worried one day he'll end up in the ER as well.
This is a common problem with the esophagus, many people have issues with it not being wide enough. Cut your food up very small, very small and keep on top of it. Rest for now and take it easy and heal.

Prayers to you Jared. My son has an endoscopy every 6 months. The earlier ones were rough but he knows what he is in for now and does much better. He has never had a tear, thank goodness. That must have been really scary.

I just happened upon your video and it reminded me of my dad who suffered from the same symptoms. They diagnosed him with a hiatal hernia and gave him sublingual pills that would relax his chest and throat whenever he suffered an episode. This was 30 years ago so I know they probably have better treatments now. I hope Jared is healing and feeling better!

Jared looks great, I’m happy to hear he’s recovering nicely. My husband suffered for years swallowing certain food, mostly meats. He had a narrow esophagus from a chest injury from a motor vehicle accident when he was young. He found lean meats were the worse. Jared you’ll have to determine what is difficult for you.

You take a risk getting assigned a specialist in the ER. You don’t know if the doctor is mediocre or excellent. It can make a difference. I am glad Jared is doing well. I have been in the ER and admitted to hospital three times in the last 5 months. It is so difficult to wait to actually see Dr, get tests done, wait for results and be moved. I hope Jared behaves for a while and does not need ER visits. lol!!! So stressful for both of you!

Hi! This happened to my Dad when I was 10 he had a piece of chicken that wouldn’t go down! So crazy. During the first routine “procedure” to remove the chicken his esophagus was torn. By the time he woke up in recovery he stood up and started coughing blood and his lung collapsed. He was transported to a different hospital and had emergency surgery. He recovered, his took some time but he made a full recovery. My dad was in great shape when this took place and he still is! Ultimately that aided in his recovery. I pray a COMPLETE 110% recovery and RESTORATION for Jared🙏🏽
