The throwback galaxy also has three green stars, but this was recorded with a file that, at the time, had yet to unlock them.
The audio alternates until the Wii's challenge panel is completed, then both "tracks" play; the Throwback Galaxy gives the dominant sound.

I think this is as close to a re-make of super mario 64 that we're gonna get out of nintendo.

Skrukorkmannen It's crazy how little companies remake games. You would think that it would be amazingly profitable--reusing storylines and basically selling a completely new game!

So the observatory, starship, and Peach's paintings gave Mario the same access to various galaxies.
I'm just glad Lakitu's camera got a fantastic upgrade.
I wish a remix of the original boss music for Bob-Omb King/Thwomp King played in Super Mario Galaxy 2.
***** The boss theme from Super Mario Sunshine is a remix of the boss music in Super Mario 64. But I see what you mean...that would've completed the nostalgia package nicely for this level in Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Super Mario Sunshine's boss theme doesn't sound anything like Super Mario 64's.
You know, as great of a recreation of this one level as Galaxy 2 has, I still think Mario 64 DS has the best Whomp's fortress. It has the most things to do, along with adding a ring of land around the bottom of the level to make the whole place more cohesive and interconnected, while also giving more ways to go through the level and giving a new place to explore.

The DS had some really good remastered stages,and this was the best. I loved that little path in the back with the star in the glass ball

The stylus controls were optional. The D-Pad worked fine too.
i got a theory. what if through the painting you travel to the space version you see in galaxy 2

Makes sense, because the walls are chipped. Plus, the N64 version feels like it's under construction. Must be why there are more complete pathways and sections in Galaxy 2.
+Silver wolf and the bobombs seem to recognize Mario when you talk to them. I just played this level for the first time today and thought the exact same thing (paintings being portals to other galaxies) lol.
Now lets beat throwback galaxy in HALF an A press. On the Wii you still press A to jump.
The two clips were really well synced up, nice.
the only problem with mario games today is they give you way too much 1ups to the point you dont feel like you're being challenged
They reset to 5 every time you turn off the Wii tho

Now with Super Mario Odyssey you don't even have lives! To be fair however in the 3D Mario games have lives ever mattered? You'd die and then just go back to almost where you were anyway, it was an annoyance at best.

Great video! The screens could have been bigger and in better quality though. I want to do something like this but with sm64 DS since I dont have the original SM64 YET. I LOVE THAT GALAXY IN SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2 and Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite game series in the world!!

Kwyjibo O_o When I made this, I could only render the video in 4:3 and that was as big as I could make the games without having them overlap each other. I've been considering redoing this video. Summer's around the corner, and a lot of us will likely have more time for making videos. And thank you for being the first person to finally mention the font; I'm genuinely surprised this thing has gone almost three years without someone criticizing comic sans.

This was amazing shen i first saw Throwback galaxxy now it's ljke a tease i mean it is closest no HD Mario 64 remake DS one was cool but it was more of game that showed how powerful ds is.
I personally love the N64 version better. It has always been and always will be my favorite game.

I liked the original better in every way.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 looks better, sounds better and plays better in every way, sadly. Also, the designs for Thwomps and Piranha Plants on 64 were...ugh...I can't even begin to describe the cringe. 64 had a more gritty floor texture and a more colorful skybox, I'll give you that.

i prefer 64s song but Wii's gameplay xD. And the boss is a little bit less easier in 64's. So....
